Text me your comments or questions!Something has felt off for a lot of people lately: sudden conflict, strange setbacks, relationships turning combative, and a low-grade sense that the ground is shifting under your feet. We sit with that reality head-on and offer comfort, not hype, rooted in prayer and the Word of God.We share a vivid prophetic dream filled with earthquake-like shaking, a red beam from the heavens, and a river of magma forcing the ground open. The picture becomes a warning about spiritual warfare and an “invasion” of disruption aimed at minds first, then families, workplaces, and wider systems. One of the most unsettling insights is how deception can arrive looking normal, neat, polite, and reasonable, echoing the biblical warning about evil presenting like an angel of light. The point isn't to magnify darkness; it's to sharpen discernment and keep Jesus at the center. From there, we anchor everything in Scripture, reading 2 Timothy 3:12–15 and calling you to continue in what you've learned, rely on the Holy Scriptures, and stay grounded in discipleship. We talk about endurance, abiding in Christ, and why God may allow shaking to drive real repentance and deeper dependence. We also encourage practical protection through prayer, watchfulness, and being part of a healthy local church community with real shepherding. If you've felt isolated, consider that God may be forming a prayer closet season that becomes your refuge, not your ruin. Technical Work Is Evolving. Soft Skills Matter, but Hard Skills Still Get the Job Done - Justin Allen, Bosch

What skills actually matter in technical careers now that the work is more digital, more automated, and more interconnected?Industrial employers are not asking schools to choose between hard skills and soft skills. They're asking for both, and they still need the hard skills to come first. At Bosch, Justin Allen sees that every day: teamwork, drive, and professionalism matter, but technical problems don't get solved unless people understand the systems, tools, and engineering underneath them.In this episode:The hard skills vs. soft skills debate: soft skills matter, but technical work can't get done without hard skillsAre digital skills now a soft skill? What employers really mean when they say they want drive, work ethic, and teamworkHow MAGMA has figured out how to successfully re-skill the current workforceHow technical careers are shifting from narrow expertise to systems thinking3 Big Takeaways from this Episode:1. Industrial employers still expect hard skills for all technical positions, not just "soft" or "employability" skills. Justin says it directly: while companies like Bosch value teamwork, drive, and professionalism, technical problems don't get solved unless people understand the systems, tools, and engineering behind the work. It's an important distinction for schools that hear employers talk about soft skills and assume the technical bar has somehow been lowered.2. Digital fluency is moving from specialized skill to baseline expectation. Justin argues that younger workers are already showing up comfortable with digital tools, automation, scripts, and AI, while many employers are still adjusting to how fast that shift is happening. In technical roles, that means software awareness and digitalization are becoming part of the expected skill stack.3. Schools and workforce programs need tighter alignment with industry's talent and skill needs. Justin shares how he's working directly with universities to help shape curriculum, evaluate where students are still missing key competencies, and bringing real engineering problems into capstone projects so learning stays connected to actual technical work. He also points to MAGMA and Michigan's workforce ecosystem as examples of how employers, public partners, and training providers can help incumbent workers build new skills, retrain for technical roles, and stay aligned with what industry needs now.Resources in this Episode:Learn more about Bosch: https://www.bosch.us/Learn more about MAGMA: https://miautomobility.org/More links & resources on the episode page: https://techedpodcast.com/allenWe want to hear from you! Bitcoin Lightning payments, self-custody yield, and stablecoin interoperability are converging on one infrastructure layer, and the companies building it are already seeing massive demand. Tedd Huff, CEO of fintech advisory firm Voalyre and founder of Fintech Confidential, sits down with Jesse Shrader, co-founder and CEO of Amboss Technologies, to break down how Lightning Network infrastructure is reshaping payment processing, treasury strategy, and compliance for fintech operators worldwide.Card networks charge 2% to 5% per transaction. Lightning brings that to 0.29%. Square just announced zero Bitcoin processing fees for its entire retailer network. The Genius Act is flooding the market with stablecoins, but those assets live on blockchains that do not talk to each other. Jesse explains how Taproot Assets on Lightning can unify fragmented stablecoin systems through cross-asset, in-flight currency exchange. He also walks through how Rails, a self-custodial Bitcoin yield product with over 2,600 on its waitlist, lets companies earn yield from payment routing without giving up custody. The conversation includes real founder lessons on fundraising, board strategy, and preparing for a future where AI systems pay each other.FIND OUT MORE1️⃣ Lightning payment processing at 0.29% is a 10x reduction from card network fees; run the math on what your business saves annually.2️⃣ Self-custody yield is now possible on Bitcoin without handing your asset to a third party; Rails automates the infrastructure so you do not need to be an expert.3️⃣ Build your board with the smartest people you have ever met, and replace anyone who is not fully invested in your success.4️⃣ Map your fiat compliance obligations into decentralized payment environments now, before a sanctions violation forces the conversation.5️⃣ Start designing guardrails for AI agents with spending authority; machine-to-machine payments are expected within three to five years.LINKSGuestJesse Shrader on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shraderjesse/CompanyAmboss Technologies: https://amboss.tech/Amboss Space (Lightning Network Explorer): https://amboss.space/Rails: https://www.amboss.tech/railsAmboss on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/ambosstechFintech ConfidentialPodcast: https://fintechconfidential.com/listenNotifications: https://fintechconfidential.com/accessLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/fintechconfidentialX: https://x.com/FTconfidentialInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/fintechconfidentialFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/fintechconfidentialSupportersDFNS provides wallets as a service that is API first, multi-chain by design, and secured with MPC so you can launch across over 50 blockchains without managing private keys. Welcome back to the RPGBOT.Podcast, where today's travel brochure reads: "The Elemental Plane of Fire: Come for the lava rivers, stay because you physically cannot leave." Congratulations. You're about to plan a vacation to a place where the weather forecast is "burning with a chance of more burning." Let's talk about the Elemental Plane of Fire. Show Notes In this episode of the RPGBOT.Podcast, hosts Randall James, Tyler Kamstra, and Ash Ely explore the Elemental Plane of Fire in Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder, diving into the lore, cosmology, monsters, and adventure potential of one of the most dangerous locations in tabletop RPGs. The discussion begins with the structure of the elemental planes in the D&D cosmology, where the Plane of Fire forms part of a ring of elemental realms surrounding the Material Plane. As Tyler explains, the inner planes gradually shift from familiar environments near the Material Plane to chaotic elemental extremes further out, meaning travelers eventually reach areas of pure elemental chaos. Naturally, the Plane of Fire is exactly what it sounds like: blisteringly hot landscapes of lava flows, burning deserts, and perpetual ash storms. The environment resembles the hottest regions of the Material Plane at best, and at worst becomes an ocean of fire fed by magma from neighboring quasi-elemental planes. Survival requires magical preparation, fire resistance, and ideally a source of conjured water, since natural water sources are extremely rare. The hosts also break down the cosmological neighbors of the Plane of Fire, including quasi-elemental planes like Ash and Magma, which connect fire to air and earth respectively. These transitional realms highlight how the elemental planes blend into one another rather than existing as strictly separate worlds, a key difference from the alignment-based Outer Planes. At the center of civilization lies the legendary City of Brass, a massive metropolis ruled by efreeti. It functions as a multiversal marketplace where adventurers can obtain incredibly rare magic items, forbidden knowledge, or impossible cures—assuming they can survive the negotiation process. The city is protected from the plane's constant ash storms through powerful magic, making it the most habitable location in an otherwise lethal realm. The episode also explores Pathfinder's reinterpretation of the elemental planes, where the classical four-element model expands into a broader elemental cosmology influenced by East Asian traditions. In that version, the Plane of Fire sits as the outermost elemental layer, functioning metaphorically as the "sun" of the multiverse. Despite the constant danger, the hosts agree that the Plane of Fire is actually an excellent adventure setting. Between genie politics, dangerous cults, exotic creatures, and legendary trade cities, it provides countless opportunities for extraplanar adventures. Key Takeaways The Elemental Plane of Fire is one of the Inner Planes in D&D cosmology and represents the pure elemental force of fire. The plane forms part of a ring of elemental realms surrounding the Material Plane, blending into neighboring elemental environments. Temperatures range from extreme desert heat to oceans of magma, with constant ash storms and burning winds. Water is extremely rare, so magical sources of water are essential for survival during travel. Major inhabitants include efreeti, azers, salamanders, fire giants, fire elementals, and red dragons. The City of Brass serves as the political and economic center of the plane, ruled by efreeti genies. The plane contains dangerous cults devoted to Imix, the destructive Prince of Elemental Evil. Pathfinder reimagines the elemental cosmology, placing the Plane of Fire as the outermost elemental layer of the multiverse. Despite its deadly environment, the plane offers excellent high-level adventure opportunities involving planar politics, rare magic markets, and elemental monsters. He began writing whilst studying at the University of East Anglia and has never stopped, producing an eclectic mix of poetry, storytelling theatre shows, non-fictional explorations of everything from radio to the charms of the seaside and even a Sky One sitcom, After Hours. His latest collection of poems To Make People Happy was published in June 2025, and looks at happiness.   Lewis Buxton is a writer and theatre maker. His work has appeared in The Independent, Poetry Review, The Rialto, Ambit and Magma amongst others. Researchers utilized advanced computer simulations to analyze the formation of 30 simulated galaxies, revealing that the Milky Way's distinct groups of stars, defined by their iron and magnesium content, can emerge through various mechanisms. This research not only enhances our understanding of the Milky Way's evolution but also challenges previous assumptions about the role of smaller galaxies in shaping its chemical structure.Earth's Mantle: A Reservoir of Ancient WaterNew findings indicate that Earth's mantle may have locked away vast amounts of water during the planet's formative magma ocean phase. Researchers discovered that bridgmanite, the most abundant mineral in the mantle, could store significant quantities of water, potentially equating to the volume of all today's oceans. This study reshapes our understanding of how water was retained during Earth's extreme early conditions and its role in the transition to a habitable planet. The implications of this research may provide insights into the geological processes that sustain Earth's dynamic environment. The Astronomy of Standing StonesReflecting on archaeological astronomy, we revisit a pivotal study that revealed how ancient standing stones in Britain were constructed with astronomical alignments in mind. This research confirms that the earliest stone monuments, including the Great Circles of Scotland, were intentionally oriented to mark the movements of the sun and moon. By examining the patterns of alignment, researchers established a connection between these ancient structures and the cultural significance of celestial events, illustrating the sophisticated understanding early Britons had of their environment and the cosmos.www.spacetimewithstuartgary.com✍️ Episode ReferencesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical SocietyJournal of ScienceJournal of Archaeological Science ReportsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/spacetime-your-guide-to-space-astronomy--2458531/support.(00:00:00) This is Space Time Series 29, Episode 2 for broadcast on 5 January 2026(00:00:47) New study on the Milky Way's chemical bimodality(00:12:30) How bridgmanite in Earth's mantle may have stored ancient water(00:20:10) The astronomical significance of ancient standing stones in Britain(00:25:00) Science Robert: Sleep apnea linked to Parkinson's disease and more news in science

“You can't be funny if you're happy all the time…”   1996 marked the time that The Super Bowl went Triple X, when Atlanta hosted the Summer Olympics, the United States national debt was a measly $5 Trillion, and the world of heavy metal continued its march forward, trudging past the brief grunge fad into darker, sludgier, and heavier waters.    “Is this KISS?”   The thrash period of the early 90's had already faded away as the grunge period came and went, and the overall vibe of metal was shifting to something even angrier and darker, with a veritable orgy of new metal subgenres popping up and coming online faster than OnlyFans accounts during the lockdowns of 2020, back when we were all just trying to “flatten the herd”.   “Now it's just me and Wristina…she's been by my side forever…she knows all the moves…”   Discover why having a “fistful of Jergens” is essential and why shampoo bottles should really come with a warning label. Dr. Leif Karlstrom is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Oregon. Leif uses fluid and solid mechanics approaches to better understand how water moves through glaciers and how magma moves through the Earth's crust to erupt in volcanoes. Much of his work involves developing theoretical models to better describe these processes. In addition to his career as an academic scientist, Leif is also a professional musician. He plays violin and tours nationally and internationally as a member of bluegrass and folk music groups. When he's not engaging in scientific or musical pursuits, Leif enjoys rock climbing, river rafting, and generally spending his time outdoors. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Oregon, receiving a B.S. in Physics and Mathematics, as well as a B.M. in Violin Performance. He received his PhD in Earth and Planetary Science from the University of California, Berkeley where he was awarded the Louderback Research Award. Afterwards, Leif was the recipient of an NSF Division of Earth Sciences Postdoctoral Fellowship to conduct research at Stanford University. He joined the faculty at the University of Oregon in 2015. Leif is here with us today to talk a little about his research and tell us all about his journey through life and science.
