Nick Nicely in conversation with David Eastaugh https://nicknicely1.bandcamp.com/track/or-a-brockley-afternoon English singer-songwriter who records psychedelic and electronic music. He is best known for his 1982 single "Hilly Fields (1892)". Nicely released only one other record in the early 1980s, the single "D.C.T. Dreams", before retreating from the music industry. The influence of "Hilly Fields" has been noted on Bevis Frond, Robyn Hitchcock, Robert Wyatt, and XTC's psychedelic alter egos the Dukes of Stratosphear, as well as the hypnagogic pop movement of the 2000s. In September 2014, Lo Records released Nicely's second full-length album, Space of a Second. A third Nick Nicely album, Sleep Safari, was released on 26 September 2017 through Tapete Records. In 2018, "Hilly Fields" appeared in the Timothee Chalamont film Hot Summer Nights. From the start of 2018 Nicely has been working on live performances accompanied by the musician Bug Lover and generating new versions of old tracks and adding visuals. First came secret gigs in Frappant (February and April) in Hamburg, then on 14 June 2018 at the Electric Ballroom in London supporting John Maus, followed by a December show in Moscow and then a US East coast tour again with Maus in 2019.

Entre une légende du rap sud-africain et un poète angevin, mon cœur balance… Notre 1er invité est Stogie T pour la sortie de l'EP ShallowVétéran du hip-hop sud-africain, Stogie T (Tumi Molekane) n'est pas un parolier classique. Son travail consiste à trouver un équilibre délicat entre différents mondes ; il a prouvé qu'il était la voix du peuple, mais il n'hésite pas à tendre un miroir à l'ensemble de la société, et le reflet est toujours plus complexe que les clichés bien-pensants du «rap conscient» et la nature stéréotypée et banale du «rap commercial».Le message dominant de Shallow est la psychose collective. Le dernier EP publié par Stogie T depuis la pandémie mondiale contient des chansons percutantes qui reflètent une forme particulière de cynisme prévalant en Afrique. Le rêve différé, la perte d'espoir sous le poids écrasant d'un État de plus en plus défaillant. Stogie T a déjà parlé de cet état, mais cette fois-ci, il se penche sur les effets qu'il a sur ses habitants. Ce qu'il advient de la pensée des gens, de leurs dysfonctionnements et de leurs pathologies.Stogie T (alias Tumi Molekane) est sur la voie de l'autoréflexion, de l'introspection, de l'évolution et de la restitution, tout en jouant la carte du progrès. Il s'interroge sur les valeurs et les règles qui régissent notre vie, sur les raisons de désespérer ou d'espérer d'un pays entouré d'un pillage flagrant, sur les raisons d'être cynique et sur les raisons de croire et de se soucier des autres.Les chansons de cet EP ont été conçues et enregistrées pendant Covid et entre les moments d'anxiété intense dus au dysfonctionnement et au désordre sociétal, à la perte d'amis proches et de membres de la famille, et à la disparition tragique de ses pairs. En tant qu'artiste cherchant à trouver une voix dans le désordre et à s'élever au-dessus du bruit de la machine médiatique mondiale, Stogie T a trouvé du réconfort dans la tragédie et le traumatisme. Car si nous sommes Peu de choses, écrit Denis Péan, heureusement, « on peut faire chavirer le cœur le plus fané sur le tempo du chamamé ». Il y a de ces groupes qui ne sont enchaînés nulle part si ce n'est aux instruments du monde ou aux feuilles de papier. Sans chaîne ni code ni dogme, Lo'Jo sera toujours ces explorateurs de la musique, ces chercheurs des mots. Le collectif Lo'Jo continue avec Feuilles Fauves à puiser dans ce qu'il sait faire de mieux : ne rien se refuser. Pourquoi ne pas mêler le kamele n'goni, instrument acoustique malien au violon, pourquoi ne pas faire fusionner le piano au kayamn, sur toile d'électro, pour donner à ce disque, aussi, les couleurs des Mascareignes ?Chaque disque est une réinvention : Feuilles Fauves n'y fait pas exception. Par ses traditions musicales absorbées lors de leurs innombrables voyages, comme par ses collaborations prestigieuses : de Robert Wyatt à Tony Allen, Robert Plant, Tinariwen, Erik Truffaz, ou encore Archie Shepp... l'utopie Lo'Jo a « le pouvoir d'hypnotiser et de ravir à chaque morceau » (Billboard).Des feuilles de l'automne aux feuilles de papier Le titre Mandiego, qui ouvre ce nouvel album, aux notes de piano douces et enveloppantes, est une invitation bienveillante au nouveau voyage que nous offre Lo'Jo. Car « l'Homme est bien peu de choses mon ami. Si le soir il est hasard, le matin il est destin », écrit Denis Péan. Feuilles Fauves est brut, comme primitif et sauvage. Grâce à l'étincelle de Jupiter & Okwess sur deux titres, à la malice de Mélissa Laveaux dans Julie, non plus en chanteuse mais en lectrice pétillante.Feuilles Fauves nous emmène danser des Valses Étranges, s'attarde sur notre vanité, interroge sur Le temps (avec René Lacaille), « le thème favori des poètes » admet Denis Péan. Celui qui s'étend et qu'on pourra donc toujours écrire. En écoutant Aswar (« ce soir » en créole maison), on s'anime en terres argentines sur le tempo du chamamé, un genre musical traditionnel de la province de Corrientes. Grâce à Brother Barrett, on découvre la communauté rasta du Pinnacle, en Jamaïque. We examine where Robert was career-wise in 1974 as he was continuing to evolve his solo work following his time with Soft Machine and subsequently, Matching Mole. C'est au Royaume de Belgique que se pose la #SessionLive avec 2 ovnis, Thomas Jean Henri dit Cabane et la violoniste Catherine Graindorge. (Rediffusion) Notre 1er invité est l'artiste belge Cabane pour la sortie de l'album Brûlée.Cabane est le projet du musicien et photographe belge Thomas Jean Henri. Après un premier album Grande Est la Maison, Thomas Jean Henri revient aujourd'hui avec la deuxième partie d'une œuvre qu'il construit comme un triptyque. Le deuxième album de Cabane réunit les voix des Anglais Kate Stables (This Is The Kit) et Sam Genders (Tunng). Un casting dont il rêvait depuis longtemps et qui est porté au service de chansons aux frontières de la folk et de la pop orchestrale. Loin des humeurs du monde, Brulée sera un abri pour les amoureux de Nick Drake et de Vashti Bunyan ou encore de toutes celles et ceux touché·es par la délicatesse de Mark Hollis, Sufjan Stevens ou Robert Wyatt.C'est en 2015 que Thomas Jean Henri a posé les fondations de Cabane, un projet transdisciplinaire où il y associe musique, photo et vidéo.Le single Today a été accompagné par une exposition abritant et amplifiant le clip de ce premier extrait de l'album. L'expo a été accueillie par la galerie dédiée à la photographie, L'Enfant Sauvage, à Bruxelles. Thomas y a présenté les 365 clichés qui, montés bout à bout, jour après jour, constituent le clip de Today. « Du dimanche 9 janvier 2022 au lundi 9 janvier 2023, j'ai mené un rituel photographique en me rendant tous les jours à la place Poelaert à Bruxelles, à 3,8 km de chez moi, pour y photographier le ciel avec mon appareil argentique moyen format. Nous vivons tous les mêmes journées… Mais en gardons-nous les mêmes souvenirs ? ». Thomas y a proposé à ses visiteurs de repartir avec une photo, en échange d'un souvenir écrit de leur main. (Rediffusion) Notre 1er invité est l'artiste belge Cabane pour la sortie de l'album Brûlée.Cabane est le projet du musicien et photographe belge Thomas Jean Henri. Après un premier album Grande Est la Maison, Thomas Jean Henri revient aujourd'hui avec la deuxième partie d'une œuvre qu'il construit comme un triptyque. Le deuxième album de Cabane réunit les voix des Anglais Kate Stables (This Is The Kit) et Sam Genders (Tunng). Un casting dont il rêvait depuis longtemps et qui est porté au service de chansons aux frontières de la folk et de la pop orchestrale. Loin des humeurs du monde, Brulée sera un abri pour les amoureux de Nick Drake et de Vashti Bunyan ou encore de toutes celles et ceux touché·es par la délicatesse de Mark Hollis, Sufjan Stevens ou Robert Wyatt.C'est en 2015 que Thomas Jean Henri a posé les fondations de Cabane, un projet transdisciplinaire où il y associe musique, photo et vidéo.Le single Today a été accompagné par une exposition abritant et amplifiant le clip de ce premier extrait de l'album. L'expo a été accueillie par la galerie dédiée à la photographie, L'Enfant Sauvage, à Bruxelles. Thomas y a présenté les 365 clichés qui, montés bout à bout, jour après jour, constituent le clip de Today. « Du dimanche 9 janvier 2022 au lundi 9 janvier 2023, j'ai mené un rituel photographique en me rendant tous les jours à la place Poelaert à Bruxelles, à 3,8 km de chez moi, pour y photographier le ciel avec mon appareil argentique moyen format. Nous vivons tous les mêmes journées… Mais en gardons-nous les mêmes souvenirs ? ». Thomas y a proposé à ses visiteurs de repartir avec une photo, en échange d'un souvenir écrit de leur main. Here we go. http://andrewkingpianist.com/Pianist Andrew King is a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative artist based in Connecticut.  Mr. King has performed throughout the Northeast, including to a sold-out hall at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall as soloist and with his colleague, soprano Julie Reumert.  He has played in masterclasses for several world-class pianists and pedagogues, including Edna Golandsky, Ilya Itin, Paul Roberts, Yael Weiss, and Robert Wyatt. After winning many local competitions by age 17, Mr. King went on to Bowdoin College to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. He subsequently completed his master's degree in piano performance from the Hartt School of Music as the recipient of the William S. Vincent Scholarship. While studying in Vienna, Austria, he and violist Sean Reilly won the first prize in chamber music for the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES) program in 2003, and they performed with musicians from Milan, Italy.  Mr. King regularly performs on the St. John's Summer Music Concert Series in Williamstown, Massachusetts.  In addition to performing, Mr. King continues to refine his technique as both student and teacher. He is a Certified Associate Instructor of the Taubman Approach, the groundbreaking and transformative approach to piano playing that provides the necessary tools for musical expressiveness through healthy motions at the keyboard. He has studied extensively with Robert Durso, master Taubman teacher and co-founder of the Golandsky Institute, in New York; he was also a student of Gerald Stofsky in Vienna, and Margreet Francis and David Westfall at the Hartt School of Music. After teaching as faculty of the Hartt School Community Division for many years, Mr. King now offers private lessons, both online and at his home studio in Connecticut. He is a long-standing member of the Hartford Chapter of the Connecticut State Music Teachers Association, through which his students have frequently placed in local competitions. He also serves as an adjudicator for piano competitions and presents introductory workshops on the Taubman Approach. Mais la réalité de la tombe revient et le rêve s'évanouit.« Je ne savais rien de Joan Vollmer, mais le poème dit tout de nos vies. Quelque chose peut arriver et il n'y a pas de retour, sauf dans nos rêves, lorsque les morts viennent nous rendre visite. Comme dans le mythe d'Orphée et d'Eurydice. Dans les yeux d'Orphée, Eurydice semble vivante un instant, mais un seul regard suffit pour qu'elle disparaisse dans le monde des morts. C'est au Royaume de Belgique que se pose la #SessionLive avec 2 ovnis, Thomas Jean Henri dit Cabane et la violoniste Catherine Graindorge. Notre 1er invité est l'artiste belge Cabane pour la sortie de l'album Brûlée.Cabane est le projet du musicien et photographe belge Thomas Jean Henri. Après un premier album Grande Est la Maison, Thomas Jean Henri revient aujourd'hui avec la deuxième partie d'une œuvre qu'il construit comme un triptyque. Le deuxième album de Cabane réunit les voix des Anglais Kate Stables (This Is The Kit) et Sam Genders (Tunng). Un casting dont il rêvait depuis longtemps et qui est porté au service de chansons aux frontières de la folk et de la pop orchestrale. Loin des humeurs du monde, Brulée sera un abri pour les amoureux de Nick Drake et de Vashti Bunyan ou encore de toutes celles et ceux touché·es par la délicatesse de Mark Hollis, Sufjan Stevens ou Robert Wyatt.C'est en 2015 que Thomas Jean Henri a posé les fondations de Cabane, un projet transdisciplinaire où il y associe musique, photo et vidéo.Le single Today a été accompagné par une exposition abritant et amplifiant le clip de ce premier extrait de l'album. L'expo a été accueillie par la galerie dédiée à la photographie, L'Enfant Sauvage, à Bruxelles. Thomas y a présenté les 365 clichés qui, montés bout à bout, jour après jour, constituent le clip de Today. « Du dimanche 9 janvier 2022 au lundi 9 janvier 2023, j'ai mené un rituel photographique en me rendant tous les jours à la place Poelaert à Bruxelles, à 3,8 km de chez moi, pour y photographier le ciel avec mon appareil argentique moyen format. Nous vivons tous les mêmes journées… Mais en gardons-nous les mêmes souvenirs ? ». Thomas y a proposé à ses visiteurs de repartir avec une photo, en échange d'un souvenir écrit de leur main. This is the second. He lifts the bonnet of the Roxy Music “art collective” in its various line-ups and shows you how the engine worked and why the idea of Eno onstage was “frightening”.
