Upon his great awakening, Sotesan, our founding master, said: When the moon rises while a fresh breeze blows, the myriad forms become naturally clear. In this dharma talk, Reverend WonGong teaches us the meaning of this short verse and reflects upon the role of light in Won Buddhism.www.wonbuddhismnc.org/donations
In this talk on using the Dharma to combat depression, Anne Freeman imagines a conversation between herself, Master Sotesan, the founding teacher of Won Buddhism, and Emily Dickinson. What do these two figures say about dealing with difficult emotions and the evening blues? How can we use meditation to clear the weeds of disturbance from our mind field?www.wonbuddhismnc.org/donations
The practice of gratitude is fundamental to Won Buddhism, and it means much more than developing a sense of appreciation. In this insightful dharma talk, longtime practitioner, Rebecca Kameny (Won Hee), explores what having a relationship with the essential graces of the universe entails, and she highlights the important roles that awareness, inquiry, and alignment with it play in our practice journey.www.wonbuddhismnc.org/donations
Won Buddhism encourages us to find dharma teachings in both written scripture and in the living scripture of the universe itself. But, if universal truth is everywhere, why don't we simply absorb it without effort? That is the question longtime practitioner, Michael Macklin (HyoungSan), explores in this insightful dharma talk during which he weaves together the relationship of wisdom, practice, and inquiry. www.wonbuddhismnc.org/donations
As a scientist, temple practitioner John Miller knows what the word "spontaneous" means. Unexpectedly bumping into this familiar concept during a retreat, and diving into what both Won Buddhism and the Tao Te Ching have to say about it is captivating journey. https://www.wonbuddhismnc.org/donations
Doorways can be transformative portals, and in this reflective dharma talk, longtime practitioner, Kathleen Herr (Won HerrJu), highlights how the accessible teachings of Won Buddhism were designed with inclusiveness as a goal. As we practitioners pass through these dharma portals, we are invited to be in relationship with what we discover upon entering. https://www.wonbuddhismnc.org/donations
Member's Talk by Dr. Lennell Dade (April 9, 2023) @WonDharmaCenter https://wondharmacenter.org/ The Founding Motive of the Teaching by Sotaesan Today, with the development of scientific civilization, the human spirit, which should be making use of material things, has steadily weakened, while the power of material things, which human beings should be using, has daily grown stronger, conquering that weakened spirit and bringing it under its domination; humans therefore cannot help but be enslaved by the material. How would they avoid the turbulent sea of suffering in their lives? Consequently, our founding motive is to lead all sentient beings, who are drowning in the turbulent sea of suffering, to a vast and immeasurable paradise by expanding spiritual power and conquering material power through faith in a religion based on truth and training in morality based on facts.
The words, "Buddha offering," might conjure an image of flowers, candles, and incense placed on an altar. But, in this illuminating dharma talk, Rev. WonGong shares a unique perspective: Won Buddhism's pragmatic approach, in which practitioners embody: "Everywhere a Buddha image; every act a Buddha offering." https://www.wonbuddhismnc.org/donations
Dharma Talk by Rev. Jieun Lee (February 19, 2023) https://wondharmacenter.org/
What, exactly, is Won Buddhism, and how does it contribute to the lives of sentient beings? We already have great religions like Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. Rev. WonGong elucidates how Won Buddhism synthesizes the best parts of these wisdom traditions into the "Threefold Practice" of Cultivation, Inquiry, and Choice in Action. See just how Il-Won, one circle, symbolizes this practice into a wholistic, "...great Way that reaches everywhere." https://www.wonbuddhismnc.org/donations

Dharma talk by Rev. Shinoh Kang (April28, 2022) https://wonbuddhismnj.org/
With openness and reflection, Rev. WonGong shares one of Won Buddhism's key insights: Our spiritual paths spring from and journey towards a single source. No matter where we begin or what traditions we explore, every tradition can help light our path towards peace, wellbeing, and liberation. https://www.wonbuddhismnc.org
Rev. WonGong of the North Carolina Temple begins this prayerful meditation on gratitude with a reflection on Ven. SeungSan, a leader of Won Buddhism in Korea, who passed a few days ago. Deep gratitude for fellow beings extends not only to those we venerate, but also those who challenge us. Rev. WonGong reminds us that, "We are what we think, we are what we say, we are what we chant." https://www.wonbuddhismnc.org
Pete Warshaw (Won JeeHo), a member of the North Carolina Temple, discusses the reasons for and path taken in updating Won Buddhism's entry in Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Won_Buddhism). Pete emphasizes that updating and clarifying this important resource is a community effort, and he also reminds us that many current practitioners were introduced to Won Buddhism through small windows in the online world. https://www.wonbuddhismnc.org/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Won_Buddhism
Michael Macklin (WonHyoung), a long time practitioner at the North Carolina Temple, draws upon his deep study, contemplation, and experience with the Il-Won-Sang vow, a core doctrine found in The Principal Book of Won-Buddhism (http://wonscripture.org/Main/SubIndex/jungjun020104) Michael's simple and clear explanation of key stanzas helps us better grasp the vow's central objective, experiencing the realm of Il-Won, which is "…beyond all words and speech…" https://www.wonbuddhismnc.org/
Member's Talk by Greta(Ja Myong) at Won Buddhism of Manhattan August 29, 2021 wonbuddhismnyc.org
Rev. WonGong explains how we can recharge our spiritual batteries by engaging in the "Three Great Powers," known in Won Buddhism as the "Threefold Practice" - Cultivation, Inquiry, and Choice in Action. She dives deep into ways we can cultivate these powers by referring to the scriptures and wise teachers, like Master ChōngSan, who saw that these powers involve accumulation and utilization. Rev. WonGong assures us that we can develop equanimity, inquiry, and mindful choice because "Who got the power? …You got the power!" https://www.wonbuddhismnc.org/
