Let's talk about the health benefits of turmeric. One study found that curcumin was just as effective as ibuprofen at reducing pain from arthritis without side effects! It's also shown to be as effective as aspirin. Another study showed that curcumin had comparable results to Prednisone in reducing inflammation for rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, and IBS. It has also been shown to produce antidepressant effects similar to Prozac and Zoloft. Curcumin has anti-diabetic properties and effects similar to Metformin. It also has anticoagulant properties similar to aspirin and Warfarin. Research has shown that curcumin has benefits similar to statins and can help reduce LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. One study compared curcumin to 5-fluorouracil, a chemotherapy drug. Turmeric has been shown to be as effective as anti-inflammatory drugs, especially for irritable bowel disease and digestive problems. It may also help reduce blood pressure and inhibit pathogens, especially fungi. To prepare turmeric water, combine ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder, a pinch of black pepper, and half of a lemon in a glass of warm water. To prepare golden milk, combine ½ teaspoon of turmeric, ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch of black pepper in a cup of milk or coconut milk. Heat the mixture and remove from heat just before it comes to a boil. You can also add turmeric to a smoothie with berries and kefir. If you have a cough, try drinking a cup of hot water with a teaspoon of turmeric and a tablespoon of raw honey. In this podcast, we're going to discuss iodine function and its many health benefits. The thyroid consumes about 6 milligrams of iodine daily, and the breast tissue consumes about 5 milligrams. The ovaries, brain, eyes, and the lining of your stomach all require significant amounts of iodine. Iodine is highly antiestrogenic. Estrogen dominance increases the risk of cancer, especially in the breast, ovary, and uterus. Iodine causes cancer cells to self-destruct. Iodine strengthens the thyroid, which improves your overall health. It also strengthens the immune system and reduces inflammation. Iodine is also vital for a healthy pregnancy. Iodine is considered a halogen, so other halogens like bromide and fluoride compete with iodine in the body. Increasing your iodine intake can help detox these other halogens. Try drinking water with unrefined sea salt for several days, then begin taking Lugol's iodine solution—a mixture of two different types of iodine. Take this solution for about five days, then take two days off. Also, consume between 3 and 9 grams of vitamin C, 400 mg of magnesium, 100 mg of selenium, and the complete B-complex to detox these other halogens completely. If you have hyperthyroidism, do not take iodine. Just because you're allergic to shellfish does not mean you are allergic to iodine. Goitrogenic foods like cruciferous vegetables and lima beans block iodine—but if you regularly consume sea kelp, it counters any bad effects. High amounts of iodine can be beneficial for respiratory viruses. Iodine also binds with mercury and aluminum, helping rid the body of toxic metals.

Those who know me know how much I enjoy running. For me, running is the ultimate stress reliever. Whenever I feel overwhelmed, anxious or depressed, I go for a run. Of course one of the greatest benefits of running is it is the perfect stress reliever. There are many other benefits of running such as it builds cardiovascular endurance, strong lungs and a strong heart. Running also builds strength in the joints and throughout the body. Running makes me happy. It puts me in better spirits. Running paired with resistance training is the perfect balance (when programmed properly and intelligently) for a strong healthy body and an overall healthy and aesthetically pleasing physique. Whatever struggles you're going through in life, I suggest going for a run. Will your problems go away? No. But you'll find a way to tackle each problem one by one without the feeling of stress and overwhelm. People use substandard olive oil and add a little bit of decent quality olive oil to it enough to pass a lab test.  Fraud in the olive oil industry has been happening for a really long time.  During a study, 70% of olive oils came back as not meeting the quality standards of extra-virgin.  Most Americans don't know what great olive oil tastes like. [07:40] Olive Oils Are Being Cut With Inflammatory Oils Like Canola Oil  You have to be very careful when you buy an olive oil blend. Make sure to read labels in the grocery store very carefully.  Olive oil can be in a fancy bottle, with a fancy label and a high price tag. However, look at the back, and you might see that it's actually a blend.  It could be a blend of soybean oil or sunflower oil, but it's being sold as extra virgin olive oil.  More often than not, it's a lower grade of oil that's being sold as an extra virgin oil. [10:10] Tips For Buying Olive Oil In A Grocery Store Always look for olive oil in dark glass; the dark glass helps protect the oil.  Glass bottles are preferable.  You also want to look for a harvest date on the olive oil bottle. Most bottles won't have a harvest date on them.  Look for oils that have a third-party certification.  [15:50] How A Professional Taster Would Examine Olive Oil Quality  A professional taster would taste out of small blue glass cups. Blue disguises the color of the olive oil. Color is not an indicator of quality. [1:33] The Cell Danger Response – Why The Mitochondria Get BROKEN  -       If we look at how we make energy, we're moving electrons, which we call the electron transport chain. This is the job of the mitochondria. -       In the process, there could be efficient and non-efficient. As we get older, it becomes a less efficient system. -       Several factors will influence the fluidity of making energy. -       There's a threshold of inflammation that completely shuts down the mitochondria when it is exposed to a toxic environment. -       The acid in the body creates resistance, and resistance in the body creates acid. This also translates into inflammation and stress, negatively impacting energy production. -       We need to start looking at things increasing the inflammation in our body and start to lower those. [11:00] Are You Stressed? Take Melatonin and Protect Your Mitochondria  -       Melatonin is the antioxidant that sits and prevents this Cell Danger Response to the shutdown of the mitochondria. -       You can take melatonin at night, and it's great for sleep. -       When faced with overwhelming stress, they must do more than just one thing. The body is still going through an adaptation period. So just keep working on that metabolic flexibility, and incorporate those healthy fats. Eventually, pair it with intermittent fasting when the body is ready. Medium Chain Fats (MCT) can be used to have energy and ketone production.  L-carnitine can also be used to help your body produce ketone. Ensure to have a high-quality sleep and drink water with electrolytes regularly. If you still have fatigue, acquire help from a healthcare provider to get a test. [13:51] Want to Have a Good Sleep? Focus on Quality, not Quantity! Make sure to have two hours of REM and deep sleep, which is the optimal time to get a night of high-quality sleep. Finding things that slow you down are going to be helpful for assisting your body in getting into that parasympathetic. Hydration also affects our sleep. Don't eat before sleeping; instead, have a walk. Just breathe through your nostrils and get out of the habit of mouth breathing. [23:33] How Much Protein Should You Consume Each Day? Cynthia aims for no less than 50 to 60 grams per meal because she can maintain muscle mass and build from where she is without consumption. At least getting 40 grams of animal-based protein in each meal will give you enough protein. But if you are in strength training, or in the age of 60, increasing that would be better. [33:25] Candida: How to Use Fasting to Help Fight This Infection? There isn't much food for Candida to feed on when you are fasting. Therefore, since you're starving it off, you'll inevitably see a decrease in Candida. Fasting can be useful in this situation. Understanding that substances like caprylic acid or MCT oil have therapeutic benefits is very beneficial when working with your own provider who has made recommendations. Recognize the critical importance of a biofilm breaker and a binder when developing protocols. [45:24] Are You Having Insomnia? Treat Your Sleeping Issues with These Effective Methods! Having a teaspoon of raw honey before bed gives our brain some glucose, which can help with sleep. There's difficulty falling asleep and difficulty staying asleep. Both of them need to be addressed a little bit differently.  If you're having trouble falling asleep, that's about your sleep hygiene.  Get your hormones tested. You want to make sure that your meals are fortified with healthy fats, protein and non-starchy carbohydrates. Myo-inositol can be very helpful for not only inducing sleep but also helping if you wake up in the middle of the night.
