Let's talk about the health benefits of turmeric. One study found that curcumin was just as effective as ibuprofen at reducing pain from arthritis without side effects! It's also shown to be as effective as aspirin. Another study showed that curcumin had comparable results to Prednisone in reducing inflammation for rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, and IBS. It has also been shown to produce antidepressant effects similar to Prozac and Zoloft. Curcumin has anti-diabetic properties and effects similar to Metformin. It also has anticoagulant properties similar to aspirin and Warfarin. Research has shown that curcumin has benefits similar to statins and can help reduce LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. One study compared curcumin to 5-fluorouracil, a chemotherapy drug. Turmeric has been shown to be as effective as anti-inflammatory drugs, especially for irritable bowel disease and digestive problems. It may also help reduce blood pressure and inhibit pathogens, especially fungi. To prepare turmeric water, combine ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder, a pinch of black pepper, and half of a lemon in a glass of warm water. To prepare golden milk, combine ½ teaspoon of turmeric, ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch of black pepper in a cup of milk or coconut milk. Heat the mixture and remove from heat just before it comes to a boil. You can also add turmeric to a smoothie with berries and kefir. If you have a cough, try drinking a cup of hot water with a teaspoon of turmeric and a tablespoon of raw honey. In this podcast, we're going to discuss iodine function and its many health benefits. The thyroid consumes about 6 milligrams of iodine daily, and the breast tissue consumes about 5 milligrams. The ovaries, brain, eyes, and the lining of your stomach all require significant amounts of iodine. Iodine is highly antiestrogenic. Estrogen dominance increases the risk of cancer, especially in the breast, ovary, and uterus. Iodine causes cancer cells to self-destruct. Iodine strengthens the thyroid, which improves your overall health. It also strengthens the immune system and reduces inflammation. Iodine is also vital for a healthy pregnancy. Iodine is considered a halogen, so other halogens like bromide and fluoride compete with iodine in the body. Increasing your iodine intake can help detox these other halogens. Try drinking water with unrefined sea salt for several days, then begin taking Lugol's iodine solution—a mixture of two different types of iodine. Take this solution for about five days, then take two days off. Also, consume between 3 and 9 grams of vitamin C, 400 mg of magnesium, 100 mg of selenium, and the complete B-complex to detox these other halogens completely. If you have hyperthyroidism, do not take iodine. Just because you're allergic to shellfish does not mean you are allergic to iodine. Goitrogenic foods like cruciferous vegetables and lima beans block iodine—but if you regularly consume sea kelp, it counters any bad effects. High amounts of iodine can be beneficial for respiratory viruses. Iodine also binds with mercury and aluminum, helping rid the body of toxic metals.

People use substandard olive oil and add a little bit of decent quality olive oil to it enough to pass a lab test. Fraud in the olive oil industry has been happening for a really long time. During a study, 70% of olive oils came back as not meeting the quality standards of extra-virgin. Most Americans don't know what great olive oil tastes like. [07:40] Olive Oils Are Being Cut With Inflammatory Oils Like Canola Oil You have to be very careful when you buy an olive oil blend. Make sure to read labels in the grocery store very carefully. Olive oil can be in a fancy bottle, with a fancy label and a high price tag. However, look at the back, and you might see that it's actually a blend. It could be a blend of soybean oil or sunflower oil, but it's being sold as extra virgin olive oil. More often than not, it's a lower grade of oil that's being sold as an extra virgin oil. [10:10] Tips For Buying Olive Oil In A Grocery Store Always look for olive oil in dark glass; the dark glass helps protect the oil. Glass bottles are preferable. You also want to look for a harvest date on the olive oil bottle. Most bottles won't have a harvest date on them. Look for oils that have a third-party certification. [15:50] How A Professional Taster Would Examine Olive Oil Quality A professional taster would taste out of small blue glass cups. Blue disguises the color of the olive oil. Color is not an indicator of quality. Many fraudulent olive oils will be cut with seed oils, but also add chlorophyll to adjust the color.
