I had the honor of talking with Fr. Wade Menezes from the Fathers of Mercy, and let me tell you—it was rich, deep, and so full of truth. Fr. Wade shared his journey from dairy farming to the priesthood (a path I totally relate to!), and we dove into what people today are truly hungry for: a deeper, more intimate relationship with the Trinity. We talked about how life gets messy—hurt, sin, unforgiveness—and how God wants to take those roadblocks and turn them into stepping stones toward Him. One of the biggest takeaways was the power of living a sacramental life, especially through frequent Confession and Eucharist—the two sacraments we can receive over and over again. Fr. Wade reminded us that sanctifying grace actually helps us participate in God's divine life and gives us strength to face the fire (whether it's a raging one or just a little campfire). We also talked about living “eternity-minded”—not in a heavy or morbid way, but in a joyful, daily pursuit of the good, the true, and the beautiful. And yes, even rest and leisure matter! Fr. Wade encouraged us (especially busy women!) to seek daily balance in prayer, work, and recreation—because holiness is found in that rhythm. I hope this episode encourages your heart as much as it did mine! Have you ever looked in the mirror and wondered when your sparkle faded? When did the light of joy, confidence, and divine purpose get buried under the weight of motherhood, marriage struggles, or midlife transitions? In this episode, I invite you to rediscover the truth you may have forgotten: you were born to sparkle. And you'll be reminded that your most meaningful chapter might still be ahead, even if it doesn't look the way you imagined. ✨ Feeling lost in the middle of your story? ✨ Wrestling with grief, broken relationships, or purpose in midlife? ✨ Longing to reclaim your God-given radiance? As we close out the beautiful month of May, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, join me this week, as I reflect on Mary's Fiat—her courageous and wholehearted “yes” to God—and how it continues to inspire Catholic women today. Through personal stories, scripture, Marian devotion, and insights I unpack the obstacles we face when trying to say yes to God—fear, control, suffering, and doubt—and how, like Mary, we can find the grace to trust even when the path is painful or uncertain. Whether you're navigating a difficult season, questioning your next steps, or longing to grow deeper in faith, this episode offers gentle encouragement and powerful reminders that: Saying yes is not a one-time moment—it's a daily mindset. Surrendering to God isn't giving up—it's claiming your victory. Even in suffering, God walks with you—and will equip you for the path ahead. In this episode, I'm inviting you into something that feels almost impossible in today's fast-paced, noisy world: silence. Real, soul-nourishing, God-soaked silence. Recently, I attended a silent retreat with the Dominican Sisters at the Bethany Retreat House in Dickson, TN—a retreat I wasn't even supposed to attend. But God made a way, and He used that quiet weekend to open up a space in my heart I didn't even realize was closed. I've always thought I was pretty comfortable with silence—no TV during the day, no radio in the car—but the retreat showed me something deeper. It wasn't just the silence that changed me; it was disconnecting from my phone, the world, and all the distractions that keep me busy and numb. In the quiet, I began to hear God again… and also myself. What surprised me most was what came up when the noise stopped—feelings I had pushed down, especially resentment I didn't even realize I was holding. Even though I thought I was doing the work of forgiveness after the deep betrayal in my marriage, God gently revealed that I was still clinging to resentment. And He met me there—not with shame, but with healing. In the silence, I stopped doing and started being. I sat with God in the ashes of pain, and He began lifting the weight off my heart. It was uncomfortable, but it was also holy. If you've been longing for clarity, healing, or simply a break from the constant noise, I invite you to pause with me today. Let's talk about how silence can become a sanctuary—where we meet God, where we meet ourselves, and where real healing begins. Have you ever found yourself in a conversation that left you shaken—your heart racing, your voice tense, and your peace completely gone? Maybe it was a disagreement about politics, morality, Church teaching, or even a family decision that matters deeply to you. In those moments, it's so easy to react instead of respond... and before you know it, the tension turns into division. In this episode of Catholic Moms in the Middle, I'm opening up about something we all face: how to stay kind, calm, and Christlike when you deeply disagree with someone. Whether it's a heated conversation in your family, a debate at work, or a clash in your parish, this episode will give you tools to handle it with grace and strength. We'll talk about: Why disagreements feel so personal and triggering What's really happening in your brain and body when you're in conflict. Four practical, faith-filled steps to help you pause, ground yourself, and speak with love while making sure your voice is heard—without losing your peace or your witness. And how saints like St. Catherine of Siena and St. Monica can guide us in today's polarized world! If you're a Catholic woman who wants to speak truth, stand firm in your values, and still radiate Christ in every conversation—you're in the right place. With the whole world watching and Catholics everywhere praying, now is the perfect time to explore the mystery, meaning, and beauty behind the papal conclave. In this special episode, I'm joined by Father Justin Raines, pastor of St. Matthew in Franklin, TN—who was actually in Rome when Pope Francis was elected! Together, we pull back the veil on: What really happens behind closed doors (including what “conclave” actually means), The deep spiritual preparation of the Cardinals, The powerful symbolism of white smoke, the Sistine Chapel, and the “Room of Tears,” How the Holy Spirit guides the Church—and how you can pray during this sacred moment. I'm thrilled to have author Kate Battistelli joining me to talk about her brand-new book: The After Party of the Empty Nest: Mom Is Not Your Only Name. If you're in a season where the kids are grown and gone, and you're wondering what's next... If you feel like you've lost a part of your identity now that motherhood looks different… Or if you're sensing God is calling you to more, but you're not sure where to start... This episode is for YOU. Kate shares so honestly about the grief, loneliness, and confusion she felt when her only daughter left home—and how God used that season to awaken a brand new purpose in her life. We talk about: Why the empty nest can feel so hard—and why you don't have to stay stuck in it The lies women believe in midlife (like "I'm too late" or "I'm not enough") How volunteering, dreaming again, and saying “yes” to God can open new doors Why it's okay not to have it all figured out—and how obedience always matters more than perfection Kate's story is full of hope, laughter, and real-life encouragement. Whether you're already in the empty nest or you see it coming, I promise this conversation will remind you that God isn't finished with you yet. There's so much more ahead.
Have you ever felt like you're carrying the weight of the world, trying to hold everything together? I know that feeling all too well. In this episode, I'm sharing from my own experience as a Catholic mom in midlife who struggles daily with the need to control everything—especially when life feels uncertain or overwhelming. Whether you're facing an empty nest, a struggling marriage, unanswered prayers, or unexpected change, I want you to know—you are not alone. Together, we'll explore what it really means to surrender our fears and let God step into the places we've tried to manage on our own. I also open up about how our parenting styles and control tendencies can reveal deeper wounds that need healing. I talk through common patterns—like helicopter or snowplow parenting—not to judge, but to help us understand the roots of our desire to protect and control. These patterns often trace back to our own unhealed stories. Through this conversation, I want to encourage you to look inward with compassion and to invite God into those tender places so He can bring healing and restoration. This episode is a personal invitation to breathe, release, and trust. I share how God has been challenging me to release my own expectations—even when His answers to my prayers have looked so different from what I hoped for. If you're wrestling with fear, regret, or trying to control the outcome of things in your life, this is your reminder that God sees the whole picture. Surrender isn't giving up—it's choosing to trust the One who loves you most. Join me as we walk this Lenten journey of healing together. In this week's show, I'm sharing something a little different for Lent—an examination of the heart. We're used to hearing about an examination of conscience, but this goes even deeper. Lent is more than just fasting, prayer, and almsgiving; it's also an invitation to slow down and take a hard look at what's really in our hearts. Sometimes, without even realizing it, we carry around old wounds—some fresh, some buried beneath years of busyness, distractions, and taking care of everyone else. But God wants to bring those wounds into the light and heal them. I'll walk you through five steps to help you recognize what's weighing on your heart and bring it to God for healing. I've worked with so many women who feel stuck in guilt, regret, betrayal or unworthiness—maybe that sounds familiar to you, too. The truth is, we don't have to carry this heaviness alone. Healing starts when we get honest with ourselves and with God. It's not always easy, but I promise, there is so much freedom, peace, and joy on the other side. We're also going to talk about forgiveness—yeah, that tough one! It's not about pretending the hurt didn't happen, but about letting go so it doesn't have power over us anymore. I'll also share how the sacraments—especially confession and the Eucharist—have been such a huge part of my own healing journey. If you've been feeling weary, distant from God, or just weighed down, this episode is for you. So grab your journal, find a quiet place, and let's walk through this Lenten reflection together. God is waiting to meet you right where you are, and I can't wait to share this with you. Jennie Guinn is a Catholic speaker, Life Coach, Podcaster, Weekly Radio Show Host on Nashville Catholic Radio and Radio Maria USA, and the founder of Catholic Moms in the Middle. After 26 years of working in Catholic education, Jennie felt God calling her "to step out of the boat" to serve in a new way. Have you ever felt like Lent is both a season you love and a season you dread? You love the idea of drawing closer to Christ, of letting Him work on the areas of your heart that need healing. But then reality sets in—the sacrifices feel heavy, the habits you're trying to let go of seem harder to break, and suddenly, you realize how much you've relied on things that may have taken the place of God in your life. If you're in the middle of this struggle, you're not alone. In this episode of Catholic Moms in the Middle, I'm diving into what it means to truly embrace Lent as a season of inner healing, not just a time of "giving up" but a time of giving in—giving in to God's transformative grace and allowing Him to do the deep heart work we often avoid. As midlife women, we know what it feels like to carry burdens—old wounds, disappointments, and heartbreaks that linger far beyond their time. Lent is an opportunity to take those burdens to the foot of the cross and allow Jesus to bring resurrection into the broken places of our hearts. This season, I invite you to move beyond simply examining your conscience and instead, go deeper into an examination of the heart. What if your struggles, your losses, even your sleepless nights are an invitation from God? What if He is calling you into the desert, not to leave you in your suffering, but to heal you in the quiet, to restore your weary soul, and to remind you that the cross always leads to resurrection? This Lent, I want to walk with you through this journey of healing—one episode at a time. Over the next several weeks, we'll explore how to recognize the wounds that still need healing, how to surrender them to Christ, and how to allow His love to fill the empty spaces in our hearts. If you've ever felt stuck, if you're wrestling with past hurts or struggling to trust God's plan, I encourage you to lean into this season as a time of renewal. Join me on Catholic Moms in the Middle as we explore what it means to experience true transformation this Lent—one that goes beyond fasting and penance, into a deep and lasting healing that only Christ can bring. Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to have a faith-filled guide by your side during childbirth? In this episode, I dive into the incredible role of a Catholic doula—someone who provides not just physical and emotional support during labor, but also spiritual encouragement. Dawn Cerino, a seasoned birth doula, shares her journey of being called to this work after her own children were grown, and how she now helps mothers bring their babies into the world with peace, prayer, and confidence. Whether assisting with positioning techniques to ease labor or offering heartfelt prayers during delivery, she integrates her faith into every aspect of the birth experience. You might be wondering, Why feature a doula on a podcast for midlife moms? Many of us are now looking toward the birth of our grandchildren or supporting our daughters and daughters-in-law through their motherhood journeys. This conversation opens the door to understanding the value of a doula, how birth experiences can be deeply spiritual, and why faith-centered support is so important. Dawn also shares insights into hospital births versus home births, how to create a birth plan, and the crucial role of husbands in providing comfort and reassurance during labor. Beyond just birth, this episode speaks to the heart of all women who desire to bring faith into every season of life. Feeling weighed down by the challenges of midlife? Struggling to find peace in uncertainty or suffering? The Church is inviting you into something truly special—2025 is the Jubilee Year of Hope! In this episode, we explore why this year is set apart and how you can embrace hope in your daily life, no matter what season you're in. Join me as we dive into the biblical roots of Jubilee and how it applies to us as Catholic midlife moms today! The Church celebrates a Jubilee Year every 25 years as a time of grace, renewal, and restoration. Rooted in Leviticus 25, the Jubilee in the Old Testament was a time when debts were forgiven, captives were set free, and the land was given rest. Today, it is a time for personal spiritual renewal, reconciliation, and reflection on God's mercy. As Catholic moms in midlife, we experience many changes—our roles shift, our children grow, and our marriages evolve. This Jubilee Year reminds us that God is always calling us to deeper faith, healing, and trust in His plan. Hope is not just a distant concept, but it is a theological virtue that anchors us in God's promises. In the midst of life's transitions, we are called to trust that God is still writing our stories. Through intentional prayer, scripture reading, reconciliation, and surrender, we can cultivate hope and inspire those around us. Let this be a time of renewal, where we release our anxieties and embrace the future with confidence in God's faithfulness. No matter what you are facing, hope is your anchor—choose to trust, surrender, and allow this Jubilee Year to transform your heart!
When Marisol and Garrett welcomed their second baby boy, Dominic, on August 13th, they had no idea the journey they were about to embark on. Diagnosed with Trisomy 18, a rare genetic condition, their story has been one of faith, heartbreak, and God's undeniable presence. Many in the Nashville Catholic community have followed their journey, and in this episode, Marisol shares the incredible ways God prepared their hearts and guided them through every moment. From a meaningful connection with a cloistered nun to unexpected signs pointing to a Catholic geneticist on the path to sainthood, this story will leave you in awe of divine providence. Marisol's pregnancy seemed completely normal, even after a routine genetic test raised concerns. She and Garrett continued preparing for a peaceful home birth, trusting in God's plan. But looking back, she sees how He was planting little seeds along the way—dreams, names, and even a documentary recommendation that all pointed to St. Jerome Lejeune, the very scientist who discovered the genetic cause of Trisomy 18. When Dominic was born at home, things took a dramatic turn. He struggled to breathe, and in those crucial first moments, Garrett immediately baptized him, grounding their family in faith before calling 911. Those first 15 minutes, though filled with uncertainty, became some of the most sacred and beautiful moments of their lives. Marisol reflects on how God's hand was in every detail—allowing Dominic to go full-term, preparing them for what was to come, and surrounding them with peace even in the scariest moments. She emphasizes how deeply a mother's intuition is connected to the Holy Spirit, guiding her through decisions that ultimately saved her baby's life. This story isn't just about a medical diagnosis—it's about surrender, trust, and the overwhelming grace that comes when we lean into God's plan, even when it looks nothing like we expected. If you've ever struggled with trusting God in the unknown, this episode will remind you that He is always at work, even in the hardest moments. In this week's episode, Father Luke Wilgenbusch and I are diving into the importance of the priesthood and why priests are such a vital gift to our Catholic faith. As midlife Catholic women, we often juggle family, work, and community, and it can be easy to overlook the powerful role of the priesthood in our spiritual lives. Yet, without the priesthood, we wouldn't have the Eucharist—the greatest gift God has given us! Father Wilgenbusch shares his perspective on the sacredness and responsibility of being a priest, acknowledging the tension between the human flaws of each priest and the sacramental grace that flows through them. It's a beautiful reminder that priests are human like us, but they also carry out an extraordinary mission to bring Christ to us in the sacraments. We also discuss how we can support the priesthood, especially in the midst of all the negativity and criticism priests sometimes face. Prayer, encouragement, and loving constructive feedback are just some of the ways we can help lift up our priests, who carry a heavy spiritual burden for us all. As Catholic moms, we are uniquely positioned to strengthen the priesthood by recognizing the importance of these men who serve in our parishes. Father also offers a thoughtful response to the question of why the priesthood is reserved for men, sharing the deeper theological and spiritual reasons behind the Church's teaching. Tune in for this heartwarming and insightful conversation, and learn how you can be a greater support to the priesthood in your own life. Let's pray, uplift, and appreciate our priests for the incredible role they play in bringing us closer to Christ. In this week's episode, I sit down with Fr. Fye to talk about the beautiful Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. As Catholic women in the middle of life, many of us have been married for years. The busyness of life can sometimes make us lose sight of the depth and meaning of our wedding vows. Fr. Fye helps us rediscover why marriage is not only a beautiful sacrament but a fulfilling and lifelong journey that we are called to embrace. In this conversation, we dive into the reality that while discussing love at a wedding should be simple, it often means also facing struggles and sacrifice. The ultimate example of love comes from Jesus on the cross. In today's world, the word "love" can be hijacked to mean something that only feels good, but marriage love runs much deeper. It doesn't always come easy, but through sacramental graces and the covenant of marriage, couples are empowered with the strength to face challenges and grow together. If you're a Catholic woman looking to reconnect with the true meaning of your vows, this episode is for you! Join us for an inspiring conversation on the power and beauty of sacramental love. As a Catholic life coach, I've had so many conversations with women in midlife who are carrying heavy burdens—anxiety, regret, past wounds that seem to linger no matter how much they pray. Maybe you've felt this way too. You want to move forward, to heal, but something keeps holding you back. What if I told you there's a sacrament that offers profound grace, peace, and healing—one that many of us have overlooked? In this week's show, I talk with Father Patrick Fitzsimons about the Sacrament of the Sick. Father Patrick served as a chaplain for the VA hospital for many years even during Covid. He knows first hand how important the Sacrament of the Sick is for those who are suffering and for their family. If you're like most Catholics, you probably associate this sacrament with someone on their deathbed. I know I did for the longest time. But the truth is, this sacrament is so much more than that. It's a gift of healing that the Church offers to anyone facing serious illness—whether it's physical, emotional, or even spiritual. And for women in midlife, who have spent years taking care of everyone else, this could be exactly what your soul needs. I've personally witnessed the incredible grace that flows through this sacrament. I've seen women find peace from the weight of past mistakes, relief from chronic pain, and renewed strength to face the challenges of life. In this episode, we're going to unpack the beauty of this sacrament—where it comes from, how it works, and why it might be the missing piece in your healing journey. Scripture tells us in James 5:14, “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.” This isn't just about physical sickness—it's about any affliction that weighs you down. The Sacrament of the Sick is a tangible way to receive God's mercy, to invite His healing into your life, and to step into the freedom He desires for you. If you've been struggling with emotional wounds, chronic illness, or even a deep spiritual dryness, I invite you to open your heart to this sacrament. You don't have to carry these burdens alone. God is offering you His healing touch. So let's dive into this conversation together—I truly believe it could change the way you see this powerful sacrament forever. Jennie Guinn is a Catholic speaker, Life Coach, Podcaster, Weekly Radio Show Host on Nashville Catholic Radio and Radio Maria USA, and the founder of Catholic Moms in the Middle. In this week's show, I talk with Father Rhodes Bolster about the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Have you ever felt like you're carrying the weight of your past mistakes, unable to fully embrace the joy and freedom God desires for you? As Catholic midlife women, we've lived through so many seasons—some filled with blessings, others with challenges that have left us feeling burdened and stuck. But here's the beautiful truth: God's mercy is always available, and the Sacrament of Confession is the key to unlocking the peace our hearts long for. Confession isn't just about listing our sins; it's about experiencing God's boundless love and mercy in a way that renews and restores us. It's a fresh start, a chance to let go of the guilt and shame that can weigh us down and embrace the grace that transforms our hearts and lives. If you've been avoiding confession, thinking it's too late or too hard, know this: God is always waiting with open arms. Through confession, we are invited to step into His loving embrace, receive His forgiveness, and move forward with renewed hope and joy. In this week's episode, I talk with Father Austin Gilstrap about the Sacrament of Confirmation. Are you overlooking the power of your Confirmation? Many Catholics misunderstand this sacrament, seeing it as just another milestone rather than the incredible outpouring of grace that it truly is. In this episode, I explore why Confirmation is so much more than a rite of passage. Father Gilstrap shares insights into how this sacrament seals the grace received in baptism and empowers us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. If you've ever wondered about the real significance of Confirmation and how it shapes your faith journey, this episode is for you. Have you ever questioned whether Confirmation is truly necessary? You're not alone. Many Catholics struggle to understand its purpose, especially when compared to the universally recognized importance of baptism. In our conversation, Father breaks down the beautiful way in which Confirmation strengthens our relationship with God, filling us with divine life and equipping us with supernatural virtues. Whether you're reflecting on your own Confirmation or considering the journey of your loved ones, this episode sheds light on why this sacrament is essential for our spiritual growth. Do you feel like your faith needs a fresh spark? Confirmation isn't just a one-time event—it's a lifelong source of grace waiting to be rekindled. For midlife Catholic women, in particular, this sacrament offers an opportunity to rediscover their purpose and embrace God's calling with renewed strength. In this week's show, I am kicking off a series on the Sacraments of the Catholic Church. It is easy to take them for granted and miss the gifts each one offers. To get started I am diving into the sacrament of Baptism with Father Seth Reed. Father shares insights that remind us of our core identity as God's beloved daughters, an identity that was first established at our own Baptism. It's a chance to revisit that moment when we were claimed by God, giving us a strong spiritual anchor to hold onto during all the ups and downs that come with midlife. For those of us who are mothers, there's a lot to reflect on. Baptism is a beautiful reminder that our children, no matter how old they get, are a gift from God. We've been given the responsibility to nurture and guide them in their faith, and this episode is a gentle nudge to reconnect with that calling. Plus, there's comfort in hearing a priest talk about sensitive topics, like what happens to unbaptized infants, reassuring us of God's endless mercy and love. This is especially comforting if you've ever carried any worries or grief in this area. The conversation also shines a light on the power of grace, something that's easy to forget in the busyness of midlife. We sometimes feel weighed down by past mistakes, regrets, or questions about where our faith stands now. But Baptism isn't just a one-time event—it's the start of a lifelong journey with God's grace. That grace continues to work in us, even now, in the thick of family life, career shifts, and everything in between. It's a reminder that we are always being renewed, no matter where we are in life. Jennie Guinn is a Catholic speaker, Life Coach, Podcaster, Weekly Radio Show Host on Nashville Catholic Radio and Radio Maria USA, and the founder of Catholic Moms in the Middle. Today, we're I'm diving deep into the heart of discipleship with Jessika Tate. Discipleship isn't about having it all together—it's about guiding others, especially our families, toward a life that mirrors Christ. True discipleship involves forming ourselves in the character of Jesus, walking in His integrity, and understanding that we're all on a journey. As women who juggle so much, we might feel unworthy or ill-equipped to disciple others. Yet, Jesus calls each of us, with all our imperfections, to be His hands and feet. The truth is, many around us are hungry—not just for food, but for authentic connection and truth. They don't need us to have all the answers or a seminary degree; they need someone who is willing to be real, to open up the Word with them, and to share life's moments—good and bad. Discipleship isn't reserved for the perfect or the theological elite; it's for those who, like us, are willing to be honest about life's struggles and joys. Our family members, friends, and community simply need someone who will walk with them, share a meal, and pray with them. They need to see us living our faith in everyday life, inviting them to do the same, just as Jesus did with His disciples. In this world of social media filters and polished facades, discipleship calls us to something radical: vulnerability. It's about letting others see us in our mess, showing them how we turn to Christ in our struggles, and inviting them to witness how we find peace and hope. It's also about letting them see our repentance when we fall short and showing them the mercy of God in our lives. So, as Catholic moms in midlife, let's embrace the call to discipleship—not by appearing perfect, but by walking with others in the highs and lows, modeling a life rooted in Christ's love and truth. This is the journey we are on together, a journey where we help one another carry our crosses and, in doing so, come closer to the heart of Christ. In this week's show, I'm honored to bring you a deeply personal and moving conversation with Kay Dodd, who shares her journey through motherhood when life's curveballs test our faith and strength in ways we never imagined. Kay opens up about her experience discovering her daughter Hannah's Down syndrome diagnosis, and how she navigated the waves of grief, fear, and ultimately profound gratitude. She takes us along on the journey from her initial heartbreak to the miraculous moment of holding her daughter, realizing that Down syndrome didn't define her, but instead, added new layers of love and faith to their family. I think so many of us, especially in midlife, will relate to her journey of letting go of expectations and trusting God's hand in life's unexpected paths. Kay's story reminds us that sometimes God's greatest gifts come wrapped in situations we don't expect and even initially resist. Facing this challenge, Kay instead embraced the faith that her daughter's life was filled with purpose and beauty as designed by God. It's powerful to hear how Hannah grew into the little “shining light” in her family, teaching all of them — and now, us — the beauty of childlike faith and pure joy. This episode is not just about Kay's journey but a call to each of us who have been shaken by life's unexpected changes. As Catholic mothers, many of us have experienced times when we planned for one outcome, only to find life leading us somewhere else. It's in these moments of surrender, as Kay so beautifully illustrates, that our faith and trust in God become the anchors that hold us. I hope you'll join me in this episode to hear how embracing life's surprises with faith and courage can transform our hearts and bring us closer to God's true gifts. Whether you're longing for a deeper connection with God or just trying to keep your faith alive in the busyness of everyday life, this episode is for you. In this episode of Catholic Moms in the Middle, I have the honor of hosting Sister Faustina Maria Pia, a member of the Sisters of Life and author of The Litany of Trust and Jesus, I Trust in You: A 30-Day Personal Retreat. Sister Faustina shares the profound spiritual journey that led her to create The Litany of Trust, born out of a deep personal struggle with understanding and surrendering to God's will. Her story resonates with anyone seeking to strengthen their faith through difficult times and deep trust in God's plan, even when life doesn't make sense. Sister Faustina opens up about the moment that transformed her understanding of trust. Through a powerful, raw encounter with Christ in prayer, she came to realize that trust isn't about receiving clarity or answers, but about surrendering to God's love, even when we don't fully understand His plan. This moving testimony will invite you into a deeper relationship with God by embracing the mystery of faith and the freedom that comes with trusting Him in every circumstance. Whether you are familiar with The Litany of Trust or just beginning your faith journey, this episode is full of encouragement and insights for Catholic women, especially those navigating midlife. Sister Faustina's wisdom is a reminder that God meets us in our weaknesses, elevating us through His tender love, and calling us to trust Him more deeply. In this week's show, I explore the powerful influence of news and media on our emotional and spiritual well-being, particularly for Catholic midlife women. My guest, Pamela Hughes shares her insight and wisdom as a former morning radio talk show host in Phoenix. After decades as a journalist, Pamela left it all behind to pursue life coaching. Her experience with what happens behind the scene with reporting and her wisdom as a life coach allows her to share valuable insight on how to consume the news without living in fear or anxiety. With the constant bombardment of information, it's easy to become overwhelmed and anxious. Pamela and I take a closer look at how media outlets often capitalize on fear and division, keeping us in a state of worry. However, there is hope. By staying rooted in your faith, turning to prayer, and focusing on scripture, you can find peace and perspective amid the chaos, especially now as you are bombarded with information on the upcoming presidential election. We also discuss the importance of conscious consumption, offering practical tips on how to balance media intake with spiritual nourishment. This episode serves as a guide for Catholic women who are looking to protect their peace, remain anchored in their faith, and break free from the anxiety often perpetuated by today's media-driven world. In this week's show, I'm joined by Lisa Flood, a wife, mom, and prayer warrior from Louisiana. Lisa shares her powerful testimony of leaving and then returning to the Catholic Church, inspired by the Eucharist on the Feast of Divine Mercy in 2008. We discuss the need for hope and trust in God, especially when facing challenges within our families and personal lives. Lisa emphasizes that true hope isn't about expecting specific answers to our prayers, but trusting in God's will and His greater plan for us. We explore how to maintain hope and trust in difficult situations, acknowledging the struggle of wanting specific outcomes from our prayers. Lisa shares that the virtue of hope is not about having our prayers answered the way we desire, but about trusting that God will act according to His will. I relate to this through my own experience, realizing that it's easy to become attached to particular outcomes instead of being open to how God might choose to answer our prayers. We need to remember that God's plans often look different from ours, and we must trust in His timing and wisdom. We also highlight the importance of community and support among women of faith, as well as the power of prayer, especially through Scripture. Lisa encourages us to “stand on the promises of God” and pray His Word aloud, as it has the power to transform our situations. In a world that values self-reliance, we need to rely on God and the support of our faith communities to help us trust, hope, and surrender to His will. In this week's show, we're delving into a profound topic that resonates deeply with many of us—trust. As Catholic midlife moms, we navigate a landscape marked by significant transitions and challenges. Our daily lives are filled with responsibilities and sometimes unexpected trials, making it crucial for us to lean on God's loving goodness. The Litany of Trust is a powerful tool that can help us in these moments. It's a prayer that encourages us to surrender our worries and fears, trusting that God has a plan for each of us, no matter the circumstances. In midlife, we often look back and reflect on the wisdom gained from past experiences while also looking ahead, striving to make the most of the years to come. Amidst this, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle of holding everything together for our families and communities. We may wonder if we're truly trusting in God's plan or if we're trying to handle everything on our own. The Litany of Trust, written by Sister Faustina Maria Pia, is a beautiful reminder that we don't have to go it alone. It invites us to let go of our fears and self-reliance, embracing instead the trust that God is with us and guiding us. As we pray through this litany, we ask to be delivered from fears and doubts that block our ability to fully receive God's love. Each line of the prayer addresses common struggles—whether it's the need to earn love, anxiety about the future, or reluctance to accept God's will. Reflecting on these lines can open us to a deeper trust in God's goodness. I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the Litany of Trust, allowing its words to touch your heart and renew your faith. Remember, you are always loved and supported by God, and He is there to guide you through every challenge you face. In this episode, I am diving into a beautiful devotion that speaks to us in a very special way as Catholic midlife women — the devotion to Our Lady of La Leche (Our Lady of the Milk). This devotion may be lesser known, but its message of nurturing, motherhood, and reliance on the Blessed Mother resonates deeply with all of us who are navigating the unique challenges of motherhood in midlife. In this episode, I share my recent visit to the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche in St. Augustine, Florida. As soon as I stepped on those holy grounds, I felt the peace and presence of God. It was a powerful reminder of how Our Lady stands with us in every season of motherhood — from the first moments of pregnancy, through sleepless nights of nursing, to letting go as our children grow into adulthood. As Catholic midlife women, we are often in a time of transition — perhaps letting go of children as they become more independent or even welcoming the joy (and challenge!) of grandchildren. I reflect on how Our Lady of La Leche models for us the patient, nurturing love we're called to offer, not only to our children and grandchildren but to ourselves as well. She nurtures our souls just as she nurtured Christ — emotionally, spiritually, and physically. I encourage you to consider: where do you need to be nurtured? As mothers, we often pour ourselves out for others, but our hearts also need restoration. Our Lady knows our struggles, whether it's the difficulty of letting go, the loneliness of an empty nest, or the uncertainty of caring for aging parents. She invites us to bring these challenges to her, to let her lead us to her Son for healing and strength. I share the rich history of this devotion, tracing it back to the Roman catacombs and the first Catholic settlers in St. Augustine. The story of the tiny wooden cross planted on the shore in 1565, and its magnification over time into a towering beacon of faith, reminds me that our small acts of faith can have an impact far greater than we ever realize. Like the image of Our Lady of La Leche nursing the infant Christ, our seemingly small gestures of love, sacrifice, and prayer can be magnified in God's plan. Whether you're in the midst of raising teens, letting go of adult children, or helping to care for grandchildren, this episode is for you. The Blessed Mother is here with us, nurturing our hearts just as she nurtured Christ. I invite you to sit with her, pray with her, and let her intercede for you in all aspects of your life as a mother, wife, and Catholic woman. In this week's show, we discuss the emotional and spiritual journey of letting go as a mother, specifically focusing on the bittersweet transition of releasing children into their independence. Joined by my friend and fellow life coach, Allie Hill, who authored The Girlfriend's Guide to Empty Nesting, we discuss the challenges and rewards of this significant life stage. The conversation centers on the mixed emotions of pride and sadness that come with watching children step into adulthood. We reflect on our own experiences, highlighting the natural tension between wanting to protect and guide our children while also recognizing the need to step back and allow them to navigate life on their own. Allie shares personal stories from her book, providing practical insights on how to balance the desire to help with the necessity of letting children make their own decisions, even when it means allowing them to fail. Through heartfelt dialogue, we explore the spiritual dimension of this journey, referencing Ecclesiastes 3 to emphasize the importance of recognizing the different seasons of life. The discussion also touches on the challenges of maintaining communication with adult children, the importance of setting realistic expectations, and the role of faith in navigating these transitions. We hope this show offers comfort, wisdom, and encouragement as moms learn to embrace the changing dynamics of their family relationships. In this week's show, I talk with Mary Margaret Lambert, a freelance writer from Nashville, well-known for her witty and heartfelt columns in the Tennessee Register. She's also the author of Life is Too Short to Wear Beige, a book that speaks to the importance of living authentically and embracing the wisdom that comes with age. Mary Margaret is someone who embodies the belief that every season of life is a time to embrace who you truly are. She has a wonderful story about refusing to “wear beige and keep quiet” at her son's wedding—a decision that emphasizes her commitment to staying true to herself, no matter the expectations others might have. As she puts it, “You've got to be your authentic self, no matter what that is. At midlife, we finally learn not to live up to others' expectations.” We began our conversation by talking about the wisdom that comes with aging. Mary Margaret believes that with time, we gain the ability to prioritize what truly matters. She shared her thoughts on the pressures of social media, which can often make us feel like we need to conform to a certain image. But Mary Margaret reminds us that “God made you unique,” and that embracing our individuality is key to living a fulfilled life. Mary Margaret's faith has been a cornerstone of her life, especially during difficult times. She spoke candidly about her battle with breast cancer and the challenges of caring for her husband. It was during these tough moments that her faith became her anchor. “If it hadn't been for my faith,” she said, “I probably would have been in a straitjacket somewhere by now. You just have to rely on God.” Our discussion then turned to the importance of female friendships. Mary Margaret, who raised three sons, found strength and support in her close-knit group of girlfriends—a group she affectionately refers to as her “bridge therapy group.” These women have been through it all together—divorces, loss, and the ups and downs of parenting. Their shared faith has been a strong bond, helping them navigate life's challenges. As Mary Margaret eloquently put it, “God is going to send His angels to minister to you. They may come in the form of doctors, nurses, or neighbors, but they will be there.” Writing has been another spiritual practice for Mary Margaret. She discovered her passion for it at a young age and has been sharing her insights through her longstanding column, Pinch of Faith. Writing, for Mary Margaret, is a way to process life's challenges and find healing. This was particularly true after the loss of her father during the Nashville flood in 2010, a devastating event that she worked through by putting pen to paper. She encourages other women to explore journaling as a way to connect with themselves and with God. “Writing purges my soul,” she shared. “It gets the things troubling me out of myself and onto paper, where I can process them.” As we wrapped up our conversation, Mary Margaret and I reflected on the beauty of midlife—the confidence that comes with experience, the deep reliance on faith, and the importance of embracing who you are. Aging with grace and gratitude, while staying open to God's guidance, is a message Mary Margaret lives by and hopes to pass on to others. This week, I'm so honored to have Bishop Mark Spalding from the Diocese of Nashville join me. We discuss his upcoming role as the speaker for our Magnificat meal in August, a wonderful women's ministry that brings together women from across the diocese for fellowship and inspiring testimonies. Bishop Spalding shares the significance of Our Lady of Good Success in his faith journey and the intercession of the Blessed Mother throughout his life. In our conversation, Bishop Spalding emphasizes the importance of community and connection in each of our faith journeys, particularly for midlife women who can often feel isolated. We delve into how the Blessed Mother's intercession and the legacy of faith from previous generations that provides strength and inspiration for today's trials and struggles. Bishop Spalding offers practical advice for parents whose children have fallen away from the faith, encouraging patience, love, and the power of prayer, especially through the intercession of Saint Monica and the Blessed Mother. We also explore the significant role women play in the Church. Bishop Spalding acknowledges the vital contributions of women in pastoral and parish ministries, stressing the importance of their wisdom, nurturing, and compassionate presence. He shares personal anecdotes about the influential women in his life and emphasizes the church's need for the unique gifts of women. As we wrap up, Bishop Spalding asks for prayers for wisdom, understanding, and courage in his leadership, reminding us of the power of intercessory prayer and the communal support within our faith. This week's guest, Sister Madeline Rose, a Nashville Dominican sister is originally from Minnesota. She moved to Tennessee and joined the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia in 2015. I'm excited to discuss the Eucharist with Sister Madeline Rose, working with high schoolers she understands the challenges of getting teenagers to focus and appreciate the Eucharist. Her call to Adoration helped her grow closer to Jesus and led her to her vocation. Sister Madeline Rose talks about how a person's love for the Eucharist can grow over their lifetime. She recalls early memories of her godmother pointing out Jesus during the consecration at Mass, which left a profound impression on her. As she grew older, her attraction to daily Mass and Eucharistic adoration strengthened, leading to a deeper relationship with Jesus. By the time she was a high school junior, she was attending daily Mass, which helped her connect with Jesus and find strength and consolation in His presence. The conversation also covers how as moms, we can support our children in their faith journeys. Sister Madeline Rose emphasizes the importance of patience, love, and giving children space to question and explore their faith. She suggests finding external voices to support their faith, showing the reasonableness of the faith, and being a consistent example of joy and fidelity. Sister Madeline Rose shares how her vocation was deeply intertwined with her love for the Eucharist. Through daily Mass and adoration, she felt Jesus inviting her to a religious life. Despite initial fear and uncertainty, her consistent "yes" to Jesus led her to a peaceful and joyful acceptance of her vocation. The Eucharist and adoration provided her with the peace and strength needed to navigate her discernment process. I love how Sister Madeline Rose highlights that Jesus's call is an invitation, and even if we say no, He will still love us. This perspective of invitation and welcoming resonates deeply. For many of us, Eucharistic adoration has become a rediscovered treasure, a place where we find peace and can hear God's voice amidst the noise of our busy lives. Sister Madeline Rose encourages us to persevere in adoration, even during dry times, and to be gentle with ourselves as we learn to be still and present with the Lord. I had the privilege of interviewing my dear friend Linda Hardesty, a woman of incredible strength and faith. Over the 25 years of our friendship, I've seen Linda endure tremendous heartbreak while always finding a way to maintain joy and gratitude. Linda's story is one of resilience and unwavering faith, even in the face of unimaginable loss. When her daughter Brooke was tragically killed, Linda's faith was her anchor. She recalled how, despite the heartache, she forgave Brooke's killer the very night it happened, believing that this act of forgiveness allowed God to pour graces over her and help her support her devastated husband. Linda's journey with faith began when she met her husband John, a Catholic. Despite not being raised in a religious household, Linda was drawn to the rituals and beauty of the Catholic Church. Over the years, her faith deepened, and when Brooke died, it was her faith that saw her through. Linda spoke of the peace she found in prayer, especially in turning to Mary, the mother of Jesus, for comfort. As she took on the role of mother and grandmother to Brooke's son, Trey, Linda's devotion to Mary grew stronger, providing her with the strength to fill the void left by Brooke's absence. Trey became a source of immense joy for Linda. She cherished their time together and found solace in being a mother figure to him. Trey would light up the room even from a young age and he was loved by so many. Again, Linda experienced another devastating loss when Trey died of an overdose. Linda's faith and the support of her family and community helped her walk through this loss. Her story is a testament to the power of faith, forgiveness, and the profound impact of love and community in overcoming life's darkest moments. This week, we're diving into a profound and beautiful topic: the sacrament of the Eucharist and Eucharistic adoration. The Catholic Church has been focusing on bringing people back to the altar table, helping them understand and embrace the holy Eucharist. With the National Eucharistic Congress happening this week in Indianapolis, there's a significant effort underway to renew and deepen our faith and devotion to the Eucharist. I'll share some eye-opening statistics and discuss the National Eucharistic Revival, a multi-year effort by the US bishops to strengthen belief and participation in the Eucharist. As Catholic Midlife women it is our responsibility to share our love of the Eucharist with others, especially how it nourishes our souls and helps us in our daily life. As we explore the importance of the Eucharist, we'll talk about why it's often misunderstood and how it nurtures our souls. The Eucharist is not just a symbol or a remembrance of Christ's Last Supper; it's the true body and blood of Jesus Christ, present in a miraculous and mysterious way. For many of us, especially as midlife moms, the Eucharist holds a profound significance. I'll share my own journey of growing in love and understanding of the Eucharist through Eucharistic adoration and how this transformed my spiritual life. Recent statistics show that belief in the Eucharist is declining at an alarming rate. As the "source and summit" of our faith it is time for revival in our church. The Eucharist offers a wellspring of grace and renewal, especially during times of trial and spiritual dryness. Let's embrace this beautiful sacrament with a renewed sense of awe and devotion, allowing it to deepen our relationship with Jesus and enrich every aspect of our lives. *** This show contains content about suicide, trauma and painful family situations. If these topics are a trigger for you, please skip this episode. This week I talk with my friend, Bob Forster. Bob is a dedicated advocate for mental health awareness and suicide prevention. In this show he shares his personal journey of healing and forgiveness with his father and the devastating loss of his brother to suicide. Bob shares his story of vulnerability as he recounts his struggles and the healing path he has walked. He shared his extensive experience working with youth and emphasized the importance of trust and sincerity in building connections with young people. Bob's journey was not just about his personal pain but also about his mission to inspire others to find strength in their own adversities. He spoke of his efforts to bridge the gap between adults and youth, highlighting the crucial role of trusted adults in children's lives. His narrative, punctuated with moments of vulnerability around his brother's suicide and his relationship with his father gives profound insights and illustrates the transformative power of facing one's wounds head-on and finding solace in faith. I was moved by Bob's courage and the wisdom he imparted. His reminder that "it's okay to not be okay" is an important message for everyone, emphasizing the importance of seeking support and speaking out. His stories and insights are a beacon of hope for many, including myself. Bob's openness and the vital work he continues to do will inspire and give you a renewed sense of purpose to support others on their healing journey even in the darkest of times. In this show, I delve into the concept of freedom from a spiritual perspective, especially relevant to Catholic midlife women. I define true freedom according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, explaining that it aligns with God's will and leads to a life full of joy and peace. Life is a constant battle for freedom, and the good news is that God is the ultimate victor in all of these battles. I discuss various obstacles to living in spiritual freedom, such as original sin, resentment, and spiritual warfare. I share personal and practical advice on how to overcome these challenges by leaning in your faith, prayer, and the spiritual armor described in Ephesians 6. I discuss the significance of understanding and combatting spiritual warfare, recognizing the subtle tactics of the enemy that aim to deceive, discourage, and enslave. Instead of being fearful, God gives you everything you need to walk in freedom! The pressures of perfectionism and the feelings of guilt and shame are common struggles for many Catholic moms that I coach each day. I encourage listeners to let go of unrealistic expectations and embrace God's grace, which allows for a life filled with joy and peace. I share personal struggles and how scripture calls us to forgiveness and to reject bitterness which can lead to spiritual freedom. God doesn't expect perfection from you but faithfulness. I share my discovery of the importance of community and support among midlife women, urging us to help each other "bloom" in our faith journeys. By surrounding ourselves with people who are uplifting, we can better magnify Christ in our lives and positively impact our families and communities. Today, we're delving into the inspiring life and teachings of St. Therese of Lisieux, exploring how her wisdom speaks to us as Catholic midlife women. St. Therese, also known as the Little Flower, offers profound insights that resonate deeply with the challenges and joys of our stage in life. Her "Little Way" teaches us to find holiness in simplicity and to approach our daily tasks with great love. I want to share with you five powerful lessons we can apply to our lives from the teachings and writings of St. Therese of Lisieux. Lesson One: The Little Way St. Therese's "Little Way" isn't just a spiritual concept; it's a practical path to holiness. She likened it to an elevator to holiness, finding that true spiritual elevation comes from embracing humility and small acts of love, rather than seeking worldly acclaim or success. St. Therese reminds us that less is often more and that simplicity and humility are crucial in our journey of faith. Lesson Two: Trust and Surrender St. Therese's life was marked by profound trust in God's plan, even amidst personal trials and suffering. She encourages us to surrender our worries and control, embracing God's loving providence. This trust doesn't mean being passive; it means actively choosing to believe that God is working for our good, even when circumstances seem difficult or uncertain. Lesson Three: Balancing Family, Career, and Faith Finding balance is a struggle many midlife women face. St. Therese reminds us that our daily duties, performed with love and devotion, are acts of worship. By integrating prayer and reflection into our routines, such as offering a quick prayer of gratitude while driving to work or setting aside a few moments for reflection before bed, we can find spiritual harmony amidst life's demands. Lesson Four: Overcoming Self-Doubt St. Therese's profound humility and confidence in God's unconditional love teach us that our worth isn't defined by achievements or societal standards. Rather, it comes from being cherished daughters of God, valued for who we are in His eyes. She encourages us to overcome self-doubt by recognizing our spiritual worth and embracing the truth that we are enough just as we are. Lesson Five: Creating a Legacy of Love Finally, St. Therese inspires us to create a legacy of love by passing on our faith to future generations. Whether through small acts of kindness or sharing stories of saints, we can instill values that endure beyond our lifetime. By modeling a faith-filled life and nurturing a love for God in our families, we ensure that our beliefs and values will continue to flourish in the hearts of those we touch. I encourage you to reflect on how St. Therese's teachings can enrich your life. Her "Little Way" invites us to find holiness in simplicity, trust in God's providence, balance our responsibilities with prayer, overcome self-doubt, and leave a legacy of faith and love. In this week's show, Jennie is joined by Debbie Rayhab who is an expert in integrative and functional nutrition. Debbie has an extensive background in the food industry and an inspiring journey toward integrating nutrition with spiritual health. Debbie has spent over 25 years in marketing and health communication, and her passion for healthy living was further ignited by her son's struggle with ADD and the impacts of taking medication. Her personal experience led her to explore the connection between food, as mentioned in the Bible, and its scientific health benefits. Debbie shares how she discovered that many foods mentioned in scripture, such as garlic, mint, basil, apples, and figs, have significant health benefits, particularly in fighting inflammation. This realization propelled her to pursue a PhD in integrative and functional nutrition to connect her scientific knowledge with biblical teachings, advocating for the health benefits God has outlined in the Bible. Debbie explains how physical health, spiritual health, and mental well-being are interconnected. She encourages listeners to see food as a divine gift and a part of God's roadmap for healthy living. Debbie provides practical nutrition tips for midlife moms to easily incorporate into their daily lives: Reduce Sugar and Processed Foods: Be mindful of hidden sugars and opt for whole foods. Increase Fruits and Vegetables: A more plant-based diet can boost essential nutrients without the need to become fully vegetarian. Use Spices Instead of Sodium: Enhance the flavor of your meals with spices like cinnamon, coriander, and basil, which also offer health benefits. Debbie shares that healthy eating doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Simple recipes using accessible ingredients can be both nutritious and delicious. She shares her love of the Mediterranean way of eating, which is known for its emphasis on olive oil, fresh vegetables, and whole grains. Debbie explains how this diet supports longevity and reduces chronic diseases, showcasing its alignment with both scientific research and biblical principles. In the bustling heart of Mexico City, amid the chaos and clamor of urban life, lies a sacred haven – the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This iconic pilgrimage site draws countless Catholics yearning for healing, connection and an encounter with the Blessed Mother and her Son. In today's show, we embark on a journey through the eyes and experiences of Gia, a devoted Catholic midlife mom whose recent pilgrimage to Mexico City left an indelible mark on her faith and motherhood journey. Gia's connection to Mexico runs deep, rooted in a year of mission work she undertook in an orphanage just outside of Mexico City after college. The opportunity to immerse herself in serving abandoned children infused her with a profound sense of purpose and ignited a lifelong passion for combining faith with compassionate action. Her return to Mexico City, decades later, was a poignant homecoming, marked by anticipation and emotional resonance. Led by Catholic influencer, Katie McGrady, and Dominican friar Father Patrick Henry, Gia's pilgrimage group embarked on a soul-stirring exploration of Mexico City's rich Catholic heritage. Amid visits to historic churches and shrines, the highlight was undoubtedly the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. For Gia, witnessing her fellow pilgrims' first encounters with Our Lady's presence knowing her devotion to the Blessed Mother was a profound experience. As Gia reflects on her pilgrimage experience, she connects with the common theme weaving through each pilgrim's journey – an openness to allowing the Blessed Mother lead them closer to her Son and a heart ready to act on their faith. Drawing parallels between her faith journey and her professional life, Gia emphasizes the importance of listening and obedience, recognizing that true fulfillment lies in aligning one's actions with God's will. Delving into the history of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Gia shares the story of St. Juan Diego, a humble indigenous man chosen by the Blessed Mother as her messenger. Amidst the miraculous encounters and divine interventions, Gia finds moments of profound resonance, particularly in the iconic phrase inscribed on the Basilica – "Am I not here, your mother?" – a timeless reminder of Mary's eternal love and guidance. As the show comes to a close, Gia shares a poignant message inspired by Our Lady of Guadalupe – a message of love, acceptance, and empowerment. Encouraging midlife women to embrace their worthiness and trust in God's plan and purpose for their lives. Gia implores them to magnify Christ in their daily lives and spread love and faith in their communities, especially within their homes. In this week's show I talk with Hayley Robinson Shovlin about her sister Rosie. Hayley has written a book, The Little Flower of Nashville, about Rosie's courageous and faithfilled battle with cancer. At a young age, Rosie had spiritual wisdom that surpasses understanding. Her family and friends watched as she continued to trust in Jesus even when things didn't make sense and her health continued to decline. In the book, Hayley shares snipets from Rosie's journal. Rosie's writing is so profound and heartfelt. Her journal entries contain the same wisdom and insight that we often read from great saints in our church. Rosie fought the good fight until the very end of her time on earth. She lived her life in such a way that even now she continues to inspire and encourage others on their faith journey. Her witness and love of God even in the midst of pain and suffering offers hope and peace for anyone facing a difficult situation. If you need hope and to know that God works even in the midst of the storm...Rosie's story will inspire you to trust that Jesus is in control and to rely on him for his strength! Did you know that you are the source of so much of your mental and emotional suffering? In this week's show I share the history of the devotion to the shoulder of Jesus. Jesus revealed in a vision to St. Bernard of Clarivaux that his most painful wound was his shoulder wound. The wound where the heavy wooden cross ripped his tender skin down to the bone. This hidden wound inflicted excruciating pain on Jesus with every step he took towards Calvary. I will share the special prayer that St. Bernard wrote to honor Jesus' shoulder wound and the promise from Jesus for all of those who keep a devotion to it. Similar to Jesus, you also have hidden wounds. In this show, I share how your thoughts and beliefs create mental and emotional pain and suffering in your life. You don't have any control over events, situations or other people's words and actions. You do have control how you respond to them. You are in the driver's seat and get to choose what to think and believe about each one. It is your choice that allows you to release hidden and unnecessary suffering. Pain is inevitable because you live in a broken world, but you can choose how to respond. It is in your response that you can find more joy and freedom in your life. In this week's show, I talk with Ann Trufant, founder of Mission on the Mountain, about how God speaks to each of us. Ann share's a powerful encounter with Christ that she had at an early age and how that encounter changed the trajectory of her life. From that one encounter God gave her the gift of Scripture. Ann shares that so many Catholics believe the lie Scripture is hard or that Catholics just don't know the Bible. In ministry and retreats, Ann teaches that the Bible is "our book." She says it is how you and I get to know what Jesus said, the actions he took with others and it is how you get to know him on a deep and intimate level. So many times, women worry about the past or what will happen in the future. Women often overthink and overanalyze in order to control the outcome of different situations. Ann shares wise advice given to her by a spiritual director to "be where your feet are planted." If you are always looking for more, you're going to miss the now, which is where all of the grace can be found. The Lord has plenty of grace for this moment in your life. When you are present in the moment, this allows you to be open to where God wants to lead you. When you stop striving and resisting, you are able to hear the voice of God. Sometimes it will be a whisper in your ear, a message placed on your heart through Scripture, an image in your mind or just a deep knowing of God. Each one of us hears God voice in different ways during our faith journey. Knowing the Lord and being willing to listen will allow him to use you in ways to build up and encourage others, especially those you are most familiar with in your family, friend groups and those you encounter on a daily basis. In this week's show, I share the three pillars that I teach women in retreats, through one-on-one coaching and inner healing. The pillars are encounter, transform and magnify. When you can encounter the love of the Father and fully embrace your identity as the daughter of the King, your life changes in amazing ways. It is in this identity that you find the faith and courage to boldly share your faith with others and to find healing and transformation in your physical, spiritual, mental and emotional lives. As women, we shine our light of faith for others to see. Imagine yourself as a lighthouse shining in the darkness for others to see through your words and actions. Other women are looking at you and how you handle different situations in your life. I am sure that you have someone you look to for guidance and direction. In my life, my friend Linda, is one of my lighthouses. She has endured so much pain and suffering in her life, yet she continues to shine with joy and gratitude in all things. Listen to this week's show to hear more about Linda and how you can be a lighthouse for those around you. The world is filled with darkness and needs your light to shine bright through your faith, by encouraging and building up others. In this week's show, Haley Riney and I continue our conversation about stepping out in faith to serve the Lord. We talk specifically about how Catholic's need encouragement to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit to share words of knowledge and wisdom as a way to build up others along their faith journey. Stepping out in courage to share your faith with others mean being uncomfortable and a times taking the risk of being rejected, but the rewards are great! Haley challenges each one of us to ask these questions each day...Lord, how can you use me today? Lord, who do you want to bless through me? When you are willing to allow the Lord to work through you it is an opportunity to share words with someone who may be struggling and need to see the face of God. Imagine what the world would be like if each person was willing to step out in courage to share their faith with their words and actions. In this show, I talk with my friend Haley Riney about her journey with the Holy Spirit. Haley and I met this past summer at Joanne Moody's LIFE Intensive in Franklin, TN. Haley is a fellow Catholic who discovered the Holy Spirit after experiencing painful injuries as an athlete and going through a heartbreaking divorce. While these situations were difficult and challenging, they introduced Haley to God's love and mercy. It was in this most difficult of times that the Holy Spirit revealed himself to her and her life was never the same. Haley is a traveling physical therapist. She is willing and courageous to follow where God leads her. Through her obedience, she has partnered with the Holy Spirit to open the door to healing and discovering her unique God-given purpose. Haley and I talk about the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how Catholics tend to shy away from them because they are not familiar and often surrounded by uncertainty. Haley shares her journey and how the gifts have allowed her to minister and work with God to bring healing, hope and wholeness to others. This is part one of two shows with Haley. In this show, I take you on a journey with the Blessed Mother as she walks beside her son to his crucifixion. Praying the Stations of the Cross is a devotion that allows you to encounter Jesus and all he endured as he carried the cross to his death. A few years ago, I discovered a new version of the Stations that touched my heart. At a Cursillo weekend, we prayed the Stations of the Cross from the perspective of the Blessed Mother. Each station is written as she experienced first hand the pain and suffering of her Son. As a mom, it is powerful to walk beside her and to feel her anguish. The letters in the word cross, can help you grow deeper in your faith. In this show, I look at each letter through the eyes of the Blessed Mother. In this week's show, I talk with Father Dave Pivonka. He is an author, speaker and President of Franciscan University. Fr. Dave is well known for his series, The Wild Goose, which helps you discover a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit. I recently saw Fr. Dave speak in Pittsburgh at The Magnificat Conference. His love of the Holy Spirit is contagious through his honesty and deep faith life. In this show, Father Dave and I talk about what life can look like as you give the Holy Spirit the reigns to your life. It can sometimes be scary and uncertain, but Fr. Dave shares how before anything else you must open your heart to the love of God the Father. It is through this love that you are encouraged and equipped to go where God leads you. As you listen to the interview, discern how active the Holy Spirit is in your life. Do you allow the fire of the Holy Spirit to burn freely in your life as trust his lead or do you try to tame it and keep it under control out of fear of what might happen? Here is a link for Fr.
