The reigning ARIAs best Australian live act, Lime Cordiale, is the first to sign up for FEAT. Live's “Solar Slice,” a new sustainability initiative which directs a cut from the price of entry to environmental projects. FEAT. Live is the sister company to Future Energy Artists (FEAT.) and a joint venture between Lenffer and James Clarke, Managing Director of entertainment and culture marketing specialists Bolster. The “Solar Slice surcharge” can be built into the booking fee of partner events as an industry commitment to prioritising sustainability. In this case, it's Lime Cordiale's 12-date The Squeeze tour, announced last Monday the festival rolls around the country from next April with a lineup including Thelma Plum, Client Liaison, THE VANNS and others. Solar Slice is the brainchild of Heidi Lenffer, a founding member of Cloud Control 1.5% is the suggested “Solar Slice” surcharge price point, a symbolic reinforcement of the 1.5 degree warming target of the Paris Climate Agreement. For the entire Squeeze tour, this is forecast at 15,800 tones CO2, or 2,460 tones CO2 per show, which is roughly equivalent to the annual emissions of 1,000 Australian households. Using its modelling, “Solar Slice” revenue can be funneled into carbon reduction measures, fund Lime Cordiale's sustainability priorities (in collaboration with the FEAT. Live advisory board), and invest in industry solutions needed for long-term low-carbon live event operations, reads a statement. Across all dates of the Squeeze, $1 from each ticket will be pumped into funding a carbon reduction program, designed to reduce the environmental impact of their jaunt. Meanwhile, The Omicron variant is a clear and present danger to Australia's live entertainment industry, one that could snuff out the recovery. That's the underlying message of a new call-out from Australia's music industry, which bands together once again with an urgent plea for support from above. This may be the start of a bleak period, thanks to a new strain of COVID-19 which has gone global in a recent days and weeks, ruining Christmas for some and casting doubt over the reopening of borders and venues. If you find yourself in the middle of a story, having to make some decisions because one area of your career or health or relationships is shifting, then this is the episode for you.As a busy, high-achieving woman in this world, you're well-accustomed to a tight calendar. As much as you pack into those little boxes, it's still hard to say “no” when your boss, family, social circle, or anyone else asks you to fit just one more thing in there.Like an overstuffed suitcase, you just keep trying to squeeze in an extra pair of pants here, another cozy cardigan there…until you have to sit on top of it just to get the zipper closed. And at the end of every overstuffed month, you ask yourself: “Is this how it's always gonna feel?”Well, here's a thought… What if you just said “no”?What if you took control of your calendar and carved out regular, intentional breathing room…what might that space feel like?Daring to pause, to be intentional, and to refill your cup isn't selfish. It's actually generous. When you're able to show up more nourished and rested, you come through in a better headspace and with a fuller heart. And harnessing that presence and authenticity is one of the most generous things you can do for others, whether it's your boss, your co-workers, your partner, your friends, or your kids.In this episode, Karlee welcomes the founder of Corporate Escape Artist, Caroline Castrillon. After 25 years of corporate success in leadership roles with Fortune 500 companies like Dell and Sony, Caroline made the leap towards entrepreneurship. Today, her company helps successful, driven women who are stuck in the daily grind of too much work and helps them carve out more time to pause and find nourishment. She is a contributor to Forbes and Thrive Global and has been featured in publications including the New York Times, Entrepreneur, Inc., and Success Magazine.Today, you'll hear what drove Caroline to defect from the always busy corporate career ladder in order to harness more control over her life, and how she's helping others do the same. She points out the importance of getting comfortable with fear being present when you're flirting with the idea of change, but you're afraid to take the leap. She also talks about the importance of cultivating a “no” practice, and how to use that untapped power to redirect your days, months, and ultimately, change the direction of your life.Or, in Caroline's own words, how to go from “soul-sucking jobs to career fulfillment”.What You'll Learn in This Episode:The “taboo” things women should be talking more about (7:12)Why we have to get comfortable with fear and keep moving ahead (9:56)Recognizing the power you have to direct your life (16:57)Cultivating a “no” practice (25:09)The one thing you have to know before making a meaningful transition (34:18)How gaining clarity over your life shifts your mental state and ripples outward (47:18)Resources Mentioned in this Episode: Article: Castrillon, C. New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas has suffered a setback in his recovery from the ankle injury that's kept him hampered since the opening week of 2020. Now that he will not return in 2021, the New Orleans Saints, who are also without starting QB Jameis Winston for the year, will need to figure out how best to bolster their passing game. Exploring how the passing game shifted when Trevor Siemian was in at quarterback, nearly doubling the amount of passing over the middle of the field, and attacking the short-intermediate areas while taking fewer shows downfield. Is this the future of the New Orleans Saints in 2021 without Jameis Winston and Michael Thomas? The team tried to land another receiver at the trade deadline with names like Odell Beckham Jr. and Darius Slayton both being connected to the team. Without being able to land then, the Saints will have to rely on a depleted market and the same roster they've had so far this season. But one player would help deliver a boost. But the question is: will his value be greater as a pass-catcher or a passer? Could Taysom Hill, once recovered, be what the team needs with Trevor Siemian under center? Or should Taysom Hill take the reins as a dual-threat QB? Follow Ross on Twitter @RossJacksonNOLA Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! I invited Mary Lou back to the show (see our previous conversations here - ep. #268 - and here - ep. #203) as I recently learned her novels had been optioned for a television series to air on BritBox. Longworth shares many details about the cast, when it will premiere, which books will be included in season one and much more. Be sure to take the tour of Aix-en-Provence she gave me in this post to enjoy a taste of the world of Antoine Verlaque and Marine Bonnet, and tune in to today's episode as she talks about food, shares a delicious recipe AND shares the synopsis for her upcoming 10th mystery and when to expect it to be released. Longworth's Lentil & Duck Breast Salad As shared during episode #310 of The Simple Sophisticate podcast, Provençal mystery writer M.L. Longworth shared a recipe during our conversation that offers a quintessential taste of summer in Provence. 1/2 cup French lentils (cooked) (follow the directions on the package or simply boil in water for about 10-15 minutes, then drain. ) 6 Tbsp walnut oil or vinagriette 2 Tbsp sherry vinegar or red-wine vinegar 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard freshly ground pepper 1-2 cups mache (lamb's tongue lettuce) or watercress (washed and roughly chopped) 1-2 ounces thin slices of cooked duck breast (substitute - prosciutto) Prepare the lentils: add the lentils to water and bring to a boil, simmer for 10-15 minutes until to desired tenderness. Drain out excess water. Prepare the vinegriette: in a small bowl add the vinegar, dijon and then slowly add and whisk in the walnut oil. Finish with freshly ground pepper to taste. If you are unable to find duck and cook yourself (often you can find cooked duck breast in the markets in France), a great substitute is ham or prosciutto - thinly sliced. Divide the vinegriette. Dress the salad with half and then add the lentils to the salad and add gradually the remaining vinegriette to dress the rest of the salad (you may not need to use all of the vinegriette or you may need to make more - just keep the proportions the same). Plate the lentils and lettuce and top with the duck breast. Enjoy with a glass of rosé - bien sûr! ~Sign up for TSLL's Free Weekly Newsletter ~The Simple Sophisticate, episode #310 ~Subscribe to The Simple Sophisticate:  iTunes | Stitcher | iHeartRadio | YouTube | Spotify EXPLORE MORE POSTS FROM FRENCH WEEK 2021 4th Giveaway: A Set of Prints from Everyday Parisian's Rebecca Plotnick Q & A with Everyday Parisian's Rebecca Plotnick 3rd Giveaway: A Cozy Francophile Gift Package Why Not . . . Biden Administration officials are planning to shift to a more urgent tone as covid-19 surges among unvaccinated Americans. Unvaccinated Americans are fueling the current rise in cases and hospitalizations. Average daily cases in the United States are now up 65 percent from last week as covid-19 spreads aggressively among the unvaccinated.  GOP governors are begging  their  residents to get vaccinated. Alabama governor says that "it's time to start blaming the unvaccinated." The White House responds to the Alabama governor's call to "start blaming" the unvaccinated by saying they "don't think our role is to place blame." The Florida governor is under fire for the response to the current pandemic surge as the state leads the nation in new covid infections. Florida, Missouri and Texas now account for 40 percent of all new covid-19 cases. The Los Angeles health director says that about 20 percent of new covid-19 cases from June are from the fully vaccinated.  The United States buys 200 million Pfizer doses in case boosters will be needed. Sources are saying that the White House and health officials are discussing revising the mask guidance as the delta variant rages among the unvaccinated.  The Jan 6 committee is set to hold its first hearing on Tuesday, as Pelosi looks to Bolster panel's bipartisan standing.  To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy
