I just turned 40 last month. And I don't know what shifts inside at midlife, but something changes when you hit this milestone. You start asking different questions: "Is this it?" "Is this who I really am?" "Is this all there is for me?" And if you've been battling an eating disorder for decades—maybe 10 years, maybe 20, maybe 30—you're asking an even harder question: "Who am I without this?" It's Eating Disorder Awareness Month. And this year, I want to talk about something we don't talk about enough—eating disorders in midlife. Did you know that eating disorder hospitalizations for women aged 45-65 have increased by 42% in the last decade? And yet, we still act like eating disorders are just a "young woman's problem." But if you're a woman in your late 30s, 40s, 50s, or beyond, and you're still struggling, I see you. This is NOT just a young woman's issue. And this episode? This one's for you. Because here's the truth: Midlife is an identity crisis. And breaking up with your eating disorder? That's an identity crisis too. And when those two collide, it can feel overwhelming. But what if this collision isn't a crisis at all? What if it's a crossroads? What if midlife is the PERFECT time to finally break free? IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL DISCOVER: Why midlife identity crisis and ED identity crisis are shockingly similar The statistics: 42% increase in ED hospitalizations for women 45-65, 13% of women over 50 engage in disordered eating Why more women are reaching out for support in midlife (and why that's powerful) The 5 reasons why NOW is the perfect season to go all in on recovery Why menopause/perimenopause can actually SUPPORT your recovery, not hinder it How to answer "I've had this for 30 years—how can I possibly recover now?" Real client stories: Women who recovered at 47, 52, and 61 What life AFTER ED in midlife actually looks like The reframe: This isn't a crisis, it's a crossroads Why the second half of your life is waiting for you to reclaim it KEY QUOTES

The journey of midlife often means navigating new aches, unexplained fatigue, and questions about how our bodies are really aging. What if the way we feel, from pain to anxiety to energy, has less to do with "getting older" and more to do with what's happening deep in our cells and connective tissues? This episode brings practical clarity to a confusing topic: fascia, block therapy, and how decompressing our bodies from the inside out could shift the way we age. Journalist and host Natalie Tysdal welcomes expert Deanna Hansen, founder of block therapy and educator on cellular aging and detoxification. Deanna's grounded insights help demystify fascia, the tissue that connects every cell, and why its health matters more than we realize. If you've ever wondered about lingering pain, stiffness, or why common wellness advice sometimes falls flat, this conversation brings new options and hope. From her decades of clinical experience and personal transformation, Deanna shares gentle, realistic ways women can care for their bodies at any age—no fitness fads required. What you'll learn: • Why fascia health is crucial for pain, aging, inflammation, and overall wellbeing in women over 40 • The true difference between surface treatments (like massage, exercise) and deep fascia decompression • How breathwork and small daily practices influence detox, energy, and even weight loss • Simple, at-home techniques using a block, towel, or even your hands and feet to support fascia health (including travel) friendly options • How midlife women can start realistic self-care using Deanna's free resources, without needing a specialist or advanced tools For women in midlife, clarity is power. Understanding fascia and cellular decompression doesn't require hype or complicated routines. Instead, it provides tangible steps for feeling better, staying mobile, and aging with more comfort, not just managing symptoms, but changing the story of your health. This episode honors your intelligence and gives you grounded tools rooted in real science and lived experience. The Present Day Wise Woman - Healthy Life Hacks With Jennifer Jefferies
Healthy Life Hacks was never just about hacks, it was the doorway. In this episode, Jennifer Jefferies reveals why her work has outgrown quick fixes and stepped boldly into the realm of identity, purpose, power, and the rise of the present-day wise woman. This is the evolution: from solving problems to rewriting narratives, from wellness tips to feminine leadership, from staying small to taking up your damn space. If you're ready to walk into your next chapter with her, this episode is your invitation. Transition from Healthy Life Hacks to Present-Day Wise Woman @ 0:00Jennifer discusses how her podcast "Healthy Life Hacks" has evolved over time, moving from providing practical health and wellness tips to focusing more on helping women reclaim their identity, power, and purpose. She explains that as she and her audience have matured, the work has shifted from just fixing problems to empowering women to rewrite cultural narratives and show up more fully in the world.Realizing the Need for Deeper Transformation @ 3:11Jennifer realized that women don't just need quick fixes or "hacks" - they need a deeper level of identity-based transformation to truly make lasting changes. She saw that her audience was resonating more with episodes about boundaries, self-worth, aging, and leadership than the more tactical health-focused content.Embracing the Role of the Wise Woman @ 7:00Jennifer discusses how the "present-day wise woman" archetype has been emerging and evolving in her work over the past decade, as she has gained more life and professional experience. She sees midlife women as an underestimated force who are ready to reclaim their voices and leadership roles in the world.Expanding the Scope of Her Work @ 9:01Jennifer explains that her work has expanded beyond just teaching about health and wellness to now sitting at the intersection of health, identity, leadership, purpose, story, feminine wisdom, reinvention, and the rise of the modern crone. Her goal is to help women reclaim themselves, their voices, and their rightful place in the world.Embracing a Bolder, More Impactful Voice @ 10:12Jennifer reflects that her voice and work now carries more impact than ever before, as she is not just sharing tips but shaping narratives and offering leadership. She sees her podcast as the perfect container for her to find and refine her voice, build trust with her community, and prove that her wisdom only deepens over time.Invitation to Join the Evolution @ 12:10In closing, Jennifer thanks her audience for their trust and support throughout her evolution, and invites them to join her in stepping fully into the next iteration of her work as the "present-day wise woman." She sees this transition not as an ending, but as her embracing the woman she has become.

Clutter in midlife affects more than your home—it impacts stress, mental health, and how you show up for your next chapter. In this episode of Asking for a Friend, Michele Folan is joined by Tracy Hoth, a professional organizer with 17 years of experience, a science-based life coach, and host of the Organized Coach Podcast.Together, they explore why clutter feels heavier in midlife—and why it's not just about “too much stuff.” As hormones shift and life transitions pile up, postponed decisions, emotional attachments, and changing identities can quietly increase stress, overwhelm, and decision fatigue. This conversation dives into:How clutter impacts cortisol, mental health, and energy levelsWhy women feel clutter-related stress more deeply in midlifeEmpty nesting, downsizing, and merging householdsLetting go of kids' belongings and family items without guiltWhy your children don't want your stuff—and how to release it anywayNavigating different clutter tolerances in relationshipsSimple, realistic ways to start decluttering without perfection or overwhelmThis episode is not about Pinterest pantries or minimalism for the sake of aesthetics. Midlife isn't the beginning of the end — but the stories we tell ourselves can make it feel that way.In this solo episode, Nikki lays out the exact conversations she's no longer willing to have — with friends, clients, or anyone else — because they drain energy, reinforce stuck identities, and keep women outsourcing their power. This isn't about toxic positivity or pretending life is easy. It's about refusing to stay married to excuses that quietly sabotage your health, your confidence, and your future. From weight loss and menopause narratives to boundaries, belief systems, and personal agency, this episode is a bold reminder that your body, your energy, and your life respond to the stories you choose to keep telling — or let go of.If you've ever felt stuck, tired of explaining yourself, or frustrated by conversations that go nowhere, this one will hit home hard — in the best way.
How I'm Betting on Myself in 2026 (Without the January Pressure)As a new year begins, many of us feel the pressure to rush into resolutions, big goals, and nonstop productivity. In this short solo episode of Reinvention Rebels, I'm sharing a different approach to starting the year — one rooted in listening, intention, and self-trust, especially in midlife.Rather than pushing for momentum or perfection, I reflect on how I'm betting on myself in 2026 in a way that feels quieter, more compassionate, and more sustainable. I share how shifting away from all-or-nothing thinking around diet and exercise, protecting my energy, and allowing clarity to unfold over time has changed the way I approach growth and reinvention. If January feels louder or more demanding than you expected, this episode offers permission to slow down, tune in, and trust your own timing. In this episode, I share:✨ Why January pressure often leads to burnout instead of lasting change
In this episode of Classy & Sassy, I'm talking about what happens when women choose themselves publicly and how quickly the internet looks for someone to blame.Using the recent Kristy and Desmond divorce filing as a cultural touchpoint, we unpack the rush to choose sides, the language of victim-blaming, and why women are still expected to endure quietly while explaining loudly. This conversation isn't about insider facts it's about patterns, perception, and the discomfort that surfaces when women prioritize peace. We also shift gears into storytelling by talking about how the Netflix limited series His and Hers was so good it made me want to read the book, plus what I'm currently reading - from B.A. Paris's upcoming thriller When I Kill You to Permission to Offend by Rachel Luna, a reminder that life is too short to live afraid of other people's opinions.Thoughtful, reflective, and very grown this episode is about slowing down judgment, expanding perspective, and choosing clarity over consensus.Send us a text
Are you doing all the "right things" for your menopause symptoms—hormone therapy, nutrition, exercise, stress management—but still not feeling like yourself? In this episode of Pleasure in the Pause, host Gabriela Espinosa welcomes back licensed psychotherapist Ashley Turner for a groundbreaking conversation about psychedelic-assisted therapy and microdosing as complementary support during the menopause transition.Ashley Turner is a licensed marriage and family psychotherapist, yoga/meditation teacher, and founder of Yoga Psyche Soul, specializing in integrating Eastern spiritual practices with Western psychology (depth, shadow, and somatic psychology, women's mental health) for 25 years. After her own intense menopausal mental health struggles (depression, anxiety, confidence loss, cognitive issues), Ashley explored psychedelic-assisted therapy and psilocybin microdosing. She is completing her psychedelic-assisted therapy certification through the Integrated Psychiatry Institute in Boulder, focusing on psilocybin, ketamine, and MDMA. Ashley created the six-month Metamorphosis program for menopause and recently launched The Portal, a 12-week microdosing and menopause group therapy program with Golden Rule.Highlights from our discussion include:Menopause is a developmental phase, not just a medical event. Mental health symptoms during menopause can persist even with optimal lifestyle interventions.Psilocybin microdosing creates neuroplasticity and can act as a natural mood stabilizer.Psychedelic-assisted therapy is different from microdosing on your own. "No pills without skills" applies to all interventions, including psychedelics. This week, get curious: educate yourself by watching Ashley's masterclass on Microdosing and Menopause, read one of the books she mentioned (Mycelio-Pause or The Psilocybin Guidebook for Women), or simply journal about what you're experiencing emotionally and psychologically beyond the physical symptoms. Rest is not a luxury - it's medicine, especially in midlife. In this episode of The Badass Reset Club, I'm joined by Dr. Alexandra Howson to unpack why women in perimenopause and menopause feel exhausted, wired, and burned out and why pushing harder is no longer the answer. Dr. Howson is the host and producer of the Write Medicine podcast, author of WriteCME Roadmap, and a Yoga for Menopause & Women's Health specialist. She blends science and storytelling to help midlife women regulate their nervous systems, slow down, and restore energy through intentional rest. After navigating her husband's stroke during Covid, panic attacks, and cumulative life stress, Alexandra learned firsthand that rest isn't optional, it's essential. In this conversation, we explore what's actually happening in the nervous system and hormones when rest is ignored, why midlife is a biological turning point for burnout, and how micro-rest practices and mindset shifts can help women reset and thrive without stepping away from their lives. Think testosterone is just a male hormone? Think again. In this game-changing conversation, Shalin Shah, CEO of Marius Pharmaceuticals, debunks a major myth in women's health. Spoiler alert: women have more testosterone than estrogen, and when those levels drop during perimenopause and menopause, it affects more than just libido. Brain fog, disrupted sleep, stubborn belly fat, and a feeling of losing strength and vitality are common symptoms. While men have had access to testosterone therapy for decades, women have been left in the dark until now. Shalin explains the importance of testosterone for various bodily functions, debunks myths that prevent proper treatment, and shares the revolutionary science behind the first effective oral testosterone therapy that aligns with the body's natural rhythms.Episodes Overview (timestamps are approximate):(0:00) Intro/Teaser(3:00) Understanding Testosterone in Men and Women(6:00) Clinical Signs and Symptoms of Low Testosterone(11:00) Testing and Diagnosing Testosterone Levels(13:00) Challenges in Hormone Therapy for Women(21:00) Environmental and Lifestyle Factors Affecting Testosterone(23:00) Increasing Natural Testosterone Levels(30:00) Modes of Testosterone Delivery(35:00) Female Hormone Therapy: Standardized Dosing(39:00) Debunking Myths About Testosterone(44:00) Dosage and Monitoring for Testosterone Therapy(51:00) Challenges in Accessing Hormone Therapy(54:00) Global Availability and Future of Oral Testosterone(58:00) The After-Party with Dr. StephanieResources mentioned in this episode can be found at: https://drstephanieestima.com/podcasts/ep451/We couldn't do it without our sponsors:TIMELINE - A new year means a new gym membership - but you can't out-train low energy; it starts deeper than that. Hello and welcome to the first officially released episode of 2026! I've got a great conversation with Jennifer Berryhill to share with you today that I think is very timely with the new year. Before jumping into that conversation, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the start of this new year. If you happened to listen to the last episode, you'll know that there I reflected on the end of 2025. While I am a full believer that every day, every moment, really, is a chance to begin again, I do find something special about the ending and beginning of years. We mark a lot in our lives by years… birthdays, anniversaries, budgets, management cycles, zodiac signs!Back in 2014, I was introduced the idea of having a word for the year from my dear friend, Amy Cupic. My word then was curiosity, as I knew it would serve as a great reminder for me to be curious as I experienced moving from the Philippines to Saudi Arabia. This year, 2026, my word is Space. For me it serves as a reminder to take up space in the world, to create and step into spaces that will bring me joy and fulfillment. And to be intentional about the spaces in my life, both external and internal. You'll hear more about my plans in the podcast (all the text wouldn't fit here!)So, that's a little bit of what my 2026 is starting off focused on. I hope that you take some time to reflect on what you want out of this year. Maybe it's not shaving your head, but what might you do in support of others you love? Even if it's a little uncomfortable, maybe it's worth the effort of pushing through the fear. And maybe it's not camping and rock climbing for 50 days, but what might you do to celebrate life and living and loving. Life is precious and it's a gift. I know too many whose lives have been cut short and so I recommit to living life with an awareness that it's a gift and that each day I have is an opportunity to extend love to those around me, and to look for ways to make life less difficult for each other.Thank you so much for being part of my journey by listening to the Make Life Less Difficult podcast. Feeling exhausted by health trends and resolutions that never stick? Midlife is full of conflicting advice, especially about women's health, but clarity feels better than pressure. If you're ready to move beyond quick fixes and confusion, this episode focuses on a grounding core question: What actually makes you feel better in your body, and what drains you more than it helps? Discover a calmer, more realistic approach to navigating health and energy in midlife. As women aged 40–65, we're often told to do more, push harder, and chase the newest wellness fads. Seasoned journalist Natalie Tysdal invites you to step off the treadmill of reinventing yourself and start listening to what truly matters. Instead of recapping every trend, this episode breaks down the health essentials—routine, rest, nourishment, and stress—into simple, relatable insights. Natalie's experience in morning news, combined with hard-won wisdom from her own health journey, ensures that busy women feel seen and supported, without feeling overwhelmed. You'll learn: • Why listening to your own body signals is essential—beyond the latest trend • How protecting sleep, energy, and peace can help you reclaim your midlife health • The surprising power of doing less, setting boundaries, and saying 'no' comfortably • How to separate nourishment from guilt and prioritize sustainable routines • Why comparison and extreme wellness promises don't serve you—clarity over pressure • The real questions to ask yourself before setting new goals this year Midlife women deserve a steady, intelligent approach to health, one that validates complex experiences and invites self-trust. This episode delivers grounded guidance you can return to, focusing on what truly supports your well-being. Whether you're navigating changing hormones, shifting priorities, or constant demands, you'll walk away feeling more clear, less alone, and ready to protect what matters most. https://www.natalietysdal.com https://www.instagram.com/ntysdal https://www.tiktok.com/@ntysdal https://www.facebook.com/NatalieTysdal
Meredith Masony is awesome. I met her ten years ago at Blog U, a now defunct conference for mommy bloggers, and she has since skyrocketed to internet fame. This is a very honest and open chat about periods, HRT, perimenopause, parenting teens, empty nest, being a woman in the public eye, breast augmentation (which we did a decade apart!), marriage issues, her "second mountain," the near death medical issues that made her want to live more authentically, addiction and both of our experiences with depression treatments... and so much more! This interview showcases a midlife woman who is not afraid to be real, which is why she's built up such a loyal following! Hopefully I get her on the show again one day. Enjoy! In this New Year's Eve episode of Midlife Revival, Dr. Taniqua reflects on a year shaped by caregiving, profound loss, perimenopause, and unexpected renewal. After losing her mother to metastatic cancer and navigating grief alongside major life transitions, Dr. Taniqua introduces her word for 2026: pruning—the intentional act of cutting away what no longer serves in order to create space for growth, fruitfulness, and ease. This episode is both a reflection and an invitation: to pause, take stock of who you've become, and courageously release the habits, obligations, and expectations that are weighing you down in midlife.

Today's episode discusses how to become 100 times wiser in a minute: Whenever you hear any relationship story from one side, assume if the partner told you their perspective you'd agree that the other one was terrible! Listen, I also used to think that everyone was a reliable narrator even through the initial years of being a therapist. The reality is that people unintentionally tell only their side. This isn't intentional lying. It doesn't even occur to them there is another lens, they cherry pick data point to confirm their worldview internally and then express it. Understanding this alone is transformative... But if you recognize that everyone INCLUDING YOU is an unreliable narrator... That is when you can truly evolve!Join the Midlife Women's group here: drpsychmom.com/mwgSubscribe if you love the DPM show! https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/drpsychmomshow/subscribe and you'll get all my awesome bonus episodes! Drop us a line or two . . .It's the final episode of the year, and Queenie and TT are doing what they do best—making sense of the madness with humor, cannabis, and zero patience for nonsense. This week, the Queens revisit the surprisingly powerful science of humming (yes, humming) as a stress reliever and sinus saver, reflect on collective trauma and gaslighting fatigue, and unpack the latest cannabis news—including federal rescheduling and Supreme Court silence. They play another round of Did This Happen Stoned or Is It Kaka? (Indonesia delivers), add a brutally honest new rule to the F*** It List—stop pretending to like people you don't—and close out the year with laughter, grief, gratitude, and real talk about boundaries, aging, and surviving whatever comes next.

If you're lying awake with racing thoughts, feeling constant overwhelm, or wondering if your midlife anxiety is "normal" or something more serious, this conversation will change how you think about mental health. Dr. Kristine Gravino, a psychologist specializing in midlife women, reveals why one out of two women struggle with anxiety and depression during this phase and it's directly connected to your dropping estrogen levels. We're diving deep into the questions you're actually asking: When is Xanax okay? Is that nightly wine helping or hurting? What does "regulating your nervous system" actually mean beyond the trendy Instagram posts? And most importantly, what CAN you do about racing thoughts and constant anxiety without buying more gadgets or taking more pills? Dr. Gravino shares the breathing technique you're probably doing wrong (hint: it's not the inhale that calms you down), why your brain desperately needs carbohydrates even though you've been told to fear them for 30 years, and the bare minimum strategies that actually work when you're feeling completely paralyzed by overwhelm. Plus, I'm opening up about my recent health journey with histamine intolerance and how it completely changed my understanding of the nervous system-cortisol-anxiety connection. This isn't just another conversation about "self-care", rather, it's about understanding what's actually happening in your body and getting real, science-backed tools to feel better now. In today's longest episode ever, we go through the backstory of Brandi, who is a Developmental Psychology PhD and whose husband came out as transgender after years of marital dysfunction. What I love about Brandi, who I also knew in grad school, is how she owns her own contribution to this dysfunction, looking at her part through an attachment lens. Anyone who has been involved with an avoidant partner, who was lied to or cheated on, or who was in a sexless marriage that was later explained by something that could have been shared with you sooner (an affair, sexual orientation that wasn't disclosed, porn/sex addiction) will love this episode. Brandi credits her recovery and remarriage to EMDR, IFS therapy, and working on herself, but I also think her sense of humor and ability to be objective about herself and her situation played a huge part! Reinvention isn't a setback. It's a privilege. And if you're in your 40s, 50s, or 60s, this stage of your life gives you a visibility advantage you may not even realize you have. In this episode of the Rich Woman Reset, Karen breaks down why reinvention lands differently for midlife women and how your experience becomes the foundation of your authority. You're not starting over. You're starting from wisdom, resilience, emotional intelligence, and lived credibility — qualities that make people trust you faster and listen more closely. Karen also explores three powerful types of reinvention: Expansion: Adding something new to your life or work. Reclamation: Taking your voice or power back. Liberation: Letting go of roles or identities that no longer fit. Visibility plays a huge role in each of these. It connects you to new opportunities, accelerates your transition, and helps you step into your next chapter with confidence. If you've been questioning whether it's too late to pivot or unsure how to show up publicly in a new way, this episode will help you recognize the strength and authority you already carry. You're not behind. You're right on time. What You'll Learn: Why midlife reinvention gives you a unique visibility advantage How experience becomes instant credibility The three reinvention pathways Why visibility makes reinvention easier, safer, and more aligned How to step into your next chapter without fear If you're ready to shift your identity and step into reinvention with confidence, explore Karen's Rich Woman Glow-Up Private Podcast, designed to help you rise into who you're becoming. There is no denying that 2025 has been a doozy for women and anyone carrying a marginalized identity. AND… I'm seeing midlife women step into a completely new season of power, clarity, and momentum. We are the backbone of everything strong and sustainable, including our companies, our communities, and our families. For decades, we've been the stabilizers, culture shapers/shifters/carriers, and trust-builders, and now organizations and society are finally waking up to the value of lived experience, emotional intelligence, and the quiet leadership skills we've built while carrying so much. There is a growing recognition that our wisdom isn't just nice to have, it's our essential secret sauce, what sets us apart, what gives us undeniable collective power, and what is critically needed in workplaces, community organizations, and all sectors of government. We are also seeing a movement in reinvention. Mid-life women are moving up, out, around, and into what actually fits. We're starting businesses, staking a claim, demanding appreciation, and refusing to shrink or settle. This is happening while we're in the middle of a full-blown Health Revolution. We are normalizing perimenopause and menopause care, nervous-system support, rest, play, and renegotiating the division of caregiving labor in all environments. We're leading this shift, no longer just whispering about it in the shadows, and it's changing how we work, lead, and live. And maybe the most powerful shift of all? Our confidence is starting to come from authenticity over performance. We're tired of proving, perfecting, and pleasing. Showing up real, grounded, values-led, a little quirky, and deeply human is becoming the new leadership standard women are setting for ALL. We're reframing our struggles as strengths—whether that's caregiving experience, neurodivergence, or navigating perimenopause. This matters because there is real momentum available to us if we pay attention. This episode will inspire you to think differently about your power, take bold action, and ask yourself a few critical questions to inform your 2026 decision-making.
