In the second installment of this interview, we take a deep dive into PJ's high school career, his experiences playing in the McDonald's All American game, the Jordan classic game in high school, and his UNC college days as well as his professional playing career. PJ's sophomore year at UNC he was the leading scorer on the team. We talk about his biggest influences on his game, and his biggest influences on him as a man. In this part of the interview, we really focus in on his playing days at the University of North Carolina, some of his biggest moments and experiences that he had at the Dean Smith center, what it means to be apart of the UNC and duke rivalry as well as addressing his final year at UNC with what happened with his eligibility. This was by far one of our favorite guests/interviews we have done as we are UNC fans on the podcast. The way he answered all of our questions, really detailing his experiences at UNC and the teams that he played on, where his team won the ACC title his freshman year. He played with: Tyler Zeller, Kendall Marshall, John Henson, Harrison Barnes, Reggie Bullock, and James McAdoo, all of which made it to the NBA. He played on some of our favorite UNC teams because of the depth of talent that they had. PJ was always a great scorer, and a great shooter, his experiences at UNC and in the NBA helped shape him into a better man, as he is a great dad who provides for his family. PJ Hairston was a ESPN top 100 recruit (No. 13 overall) coming out high school, he was the #1 ranked player in the state of North Carolina and was ranked #3 at his position in the nation. The interview starts out with PJ discussing his child hood, where he is really from, what it was like growing up in Greensboro, NC. PJ discussed his high school experience at Dudley High School, which is a prominent high school in Greensboro, where he played against John Wall and many other star athletes. He discussed why he chose Dudley High School over smith, he discussed what he averaged and his top performances in high school, including his 59 point performance in which he did this in just 3 quarters, and he discussed his aau days. He also discussed his recruitment process, the school he was originally going to before committing UNC, he spoke about some of his UNC experiences and how he was able to elevate his mental health after hurting his hip while playing in the NBA. He spoke about some of the things he had to go through for his role in the NBA, and some of the matchups he had to face. He also spoke about meeting one of his favorite players in Kobe Bryant, how well he played against him, and how they developed a rapport.
