Episode 23 features, Brooke Pancake Rende who thrived as a Junior Golfer in Tennessee winning the Tennessee State Championship Individually 4x, winning the NCAA D1 National Team Championship & Runner-up Individually with Alabama in 2012 making a clutch 6-8 footer on the final hole, to then earning status on the LPGA Tour as a professional, to becoming a mom of three, and now co-founding Back 9 Golf, a junior golf development consulting business. Brooke Pancake does it all, and you will hear about it all on Episode 23 of the Coach Mo Golf Show!During her time at Baylor High School, Rende led the team to five state championships while winning four individual state championships individually, the only player in TSSAA history to take state medalist honors four years in a row. She also held the 36 hole scoring record for the state championship. At the age of 17, she was inducted into the Tennessee Women's Golf Hall of Fame.At the University of Alabama, where she was a four time All-American, Rende led the Crimson Tide to its first ever SEC Championship in her sophomore season and first ever NCAA regional title during her junior year. In 2012, her six-foot putt on the 72nd hole of the NCAA Championship gave Bama its first and only national championship. Rende would finish national runner- up individually. For her accomplishments on the course, Rende was named the SEC female athlete of the year in 2012, the first golfer in SEC history to win the award. And was awarded the Roy F. Kramer Award, given to the top female athlete in the conference. Outside of the SEC, Rende was the recipient of the Honda Sports Award for the 2011-12 season, given to the top female golfer in the country, and was the number one ranked player by Golfweek during her junior and senior years.During her college years, Rende was also noted for academic achievements, holding a 4.0 GPA her entire collegiate career. She was a three time winner of the SEC Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the National Golf Coaches Association Scholar Athlete Award, was twice awarded the Edith Cummings Monson Golf Award and was the recipient of the Elite 89 Award. After her senior year, Rende was recognized as the Capital One Academic All-American of the year, awarded to the top student-sportsperson in the country, the first athlete from the University of Alabama and the first female golfer from any school to win the award. She was also selected for the NCAA Top 10 Award, given by the NCAA to ten athletes, male or female, that attain elite status in their sport, classroom, and the community. In the amateur ranks, Rende was a semi-finalist at the 2011 US Amateur, and had the best record on the US Curtis Cup team in 2012. She made her professional debut at the 2012 US Women's Open, immediately following a captured national championship title and Curtis Cup debut. She enjoys a strong presence on the LPGA Tour, competing full time since her rookie year in 2013. But has recently been on maternity leave enjoying her time at home with her young family. During her time away from competition, she has sparked a passion with truly guiding and mentoring younger players. A rather quiet week in sports isn't going to stop yours truly as another fast paced, action packed sports podcast is coming at ya. On deck: (2:43) The NFL Divisional Playoff weekend is almost here. I have a couple of interesting storylines with the #1 seeds in each conference being re-introduced to our consciousness (i.e. The physical condition and psyche of Eagles QB, Jalen Hurts. And the Chiefs been there, done that mentality of the road going through them in the conference. Plus, Andy Reid's penchant for poor clock management in big games) with complete breakdowns of all four matchups, predictions and what would be the best case scenario in the AFC & NFC Title Games for CBS & FOX as we inch closer to crowning a champion in Glendale, AZ next month. (35:09) An NBA Finals rematch takes place tonight as the Celtics are in the middle of a seven game winning streak, while the Warriors are still trying to find their way out West. The hottest team in the sport are the Memphis Grizzlies as they've won 11 in a row, not gaining much ground on a Nuggets team that has won eight straight at the top of the conference. I'll share the latest on the court throughout the Association as most teams are closing in on the 50 games played mark. (40:56) It's good to see Oilers forward, Evander Kane back from a serious wrist injury as he took a skate blade over it back in November. He was to be out of the lineup for three to four months, but returned a little over two months. I'll get into what's happening on the ice as the Devils are starting to heat up. The Bruins continue to sizzle as the best team in the sport. At this pace, it's Stanley Cup Champs or bust for the B's. (45:27) We're just two months away from March Madness. I'll review what's going on in college basketball as there have been some big surprises to date, from teams we'd never expect to be in the Top 25. (50:53) It's been a ho-hum Australian Open so far. Notwithstanding, Rafael Nadal becoming the first major player to be ousted from the tournament in straight sets to Mackenzie McDonald. Is this the beginning of the end for the all-time great? Shohei Ohtani made history once again during his last start, Miguel Cabrera is one hit away from 3,000, and Hunter Greene throwing a record 39 pitches over 100mph. Last week Stark and Masaro both played their final rounds of the golf season as the weather has taken a turn making conditions less than ideal. The Lions came out using every trick in the book and took an early lead against the Rams on Sunday before Stafford took control and handed his former team their seventh loss of the year. The Bengals looked impressive winning convincingly in Baltimore while the Chiefs struggled again. The NFC division leaders set the tone with impressive records through seven weeks. Alabama jumped ahead of Oklahoma to claim third spot in the NCAA Top 25, with five ranked teams losing last weekend. This week sets up some big matchups in the Big 10 and both divisional pictures may become a little clearer. The Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves begin the World Series in a match-up of two different styles. The Astros look for the second title in five years while the Braves look for their first since 1995. Stark gives his thoughts on the Leafs start to the season, while Masaro tries to calm him down. Another week of pick'em and another 3/4 taken by Masaro which extends the season lead to 19-9.
