This week Safe House Project co-founders, Brittany Dunn& Kristi Wells, are joined by Lisa Lombardozzi. Lisa Lombardozzi is a wife, mother, professional and child abuse Thriver. Despite being abused from infancy to nearly 19, she refused to allow her childhood trauma to become her life-long identity, and now uses her abuse experiences to reach other survivors with a message of hope and healing.  Lisa has spoken to groups large and small to bring awareness and education on identifying and preventing sexual abuse. In 2017 she met with Senators and Delegates at the Virginia General Assembly to communicate the need for better personal protection education to be taught from pre-school through high school and intends to continue to work with lawmakers on these tough issues. He is a Los Angeles native, a husband of 18 years, father of two children, a church planter, urban missionary, an indie-film director/producer, and a seasoned international speaker. Phil the Voice currently serves as the President of Student Life at Nations Leadership Training Institute in Los Angeles, California. Phil the Voice also serves as the C.E.O. of Vine Style Ministries Inc. Kimberli Kocherhans is a mother and grandmother, artist, writer, Ironman 70.3 and activist. She is the president and founder of The Healing Center For Complex Trauma, a facility that will provide comprehensive services for those suffering from the effects of trafficking and profound trauma. Kimberli is an advocate, educator and consultant where she works directly  with survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence and providers of service. She is an active member of the Utah Trafficking In Persons Task Force, National Survivor Network, and National Leadership Institute. She volunteers for anti-human trafficking organizations and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She has presented for such organizations as Hill Air Force Base, The Utah Department of Corrections and The University of Utah Hospital Department of Social Work on the topics of Human Trafficking and “A Survivor's Story: Navigating The Effects of Complex Trauma”. Educate leadership on why a direction is necessary, sales teams on how to improve performance, customers on the value of a product or service just to name a few common examples. In both his work and personal endeavors building the business through learning is what gets him up in the morning, regardless of what “the business” is. Dan's personal reason for helping educate people on trafficking is to protect his family. His wife of 20 years, Blair, remains his #1 customer and key stakeholder where he endeavors to improve as husband and friend. He serves two young customers M (12) and S (9). He's learned a lot from these two as the teacher in the multi-facet, ever-changing role of a modern-day Father. Carla is also known for her straightforward approach to life and She lives by the mantra, “Knowing who you are helps you reject who you are not”.  In addition to being a dynamic speaker, Carla Stephens is the consulting producer and star of Bravo's  television show, “Mother Funders”. Carla is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of two trucking  companies and is among the few women in such a male dominated industry. Carla has always believed that  women can do everything and that despite it being an industry that is majority male, there were great  career opportunities in the trucking industry for women.  Carla works tirelessly to raise money and awareness for several organizations that she is passionate about. She recently founded a non-profit organization, RockStar Fundraising Corporation that focuses on raising funds to help in the fight against human trafficking and to serve survivors directly. Additionally, she launched her initiative, Stop Traffic Mission Funding because of the overwhelming need for survivors and organizational support due to COVID-19. While she loves her work, she is passionate about the time she spends serving alongside those who fight to stop the sexual exploitation of children. In fact, Carla was named the first-ever Celebrity Brand ambassador of Wellspring Living and was listed as one of the top nine celebrities who use their platform to fight human trafficking.  Carla is known in her community as a change catalyst with strong leadership and organizational skills. This week Safe House Project co-founders, Brittany Dunn& Kristi Wells, are joined by Nigel "Legin" Anderson, Christian Hip Hop Artist & Co-Founder of Safe House Project. Nigel "Legin" Anderson is a spoken word artist, gospel hip hop artist, podcaster and preacher/speaker who uses transparency to connect and art to communicate with his listeners.  Inspired by his father's battle with addiction, Legin speaks about fatherlessness to forgiveness, as well as racial reconciliation and urban apologetics amongst other topics, and the hope of the gospel in his music.     Legin's recent spoken word release Dark Room  tells listeners that “pictures develop best in dark rooms” and that “all things work together” (Rom. 8:28) in the hands of God. Legin has appeared on stage with Lecrae and opened for artists like KB, Tedashii, Da' T.R.U.T.H., Social Club, Canon, Aaron Cole, and Flame among others.  He has produced and promoted tours throughout the United States and has performed in London, England; Nairobi, Kenya; and Pretoria and Cape Town, South Africa.  Through his label Renaissance Music Legin released the compilation album Lions in Suits (2016) as well as his Cloud 12 EP (2014), amongst other releases. Through Expect Renaissance, his non-profit organization, Legin and fellow artists Sinai and Focus produced Safe House by RMM (2017), and all album proceeds will help build a safe house in South Africa, by early 2019, to protect children from sex trafficking.  On Safe House Legin worked with Grammy-nominated artist Da' T.R.U.T.H., Grammy-winning artist KJ Scriven, lyricist Eshon Burgandy (NFTRY), and Jered Sanders (God Over Money Records) to produce this ground-breaking album.  Lastly, Legin recently launched the Fear Not Podcast encouraging listeners to go after their dreams and tackle tough things in the face of very real fears.  He shares life applications as well as interviews interesting guests who have achieved much despite fears to inspire listeners.  Fear Not is not for the fearless, but for those who fear less, and it's available on iTunes and YouTube. Mitzi Perdue is a businesswoman, activist and author, She holds degrees from Harvard University and George Washington University, and is a past president of the 40,000 member American Agri-Women and was one of the U.S. Delegates to the United Nations Conference on Women in Nairobi.    Mitzi was a syndicated columnist for 22 years, and her weekly environmental columns were distributed by California's Capitol News and later, by Scripps Howard News Service, to roughly 420 newspapers. She wrote for the Academy of Women's Health and GEN, Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News.   Mitzi has been a Commissioner on the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science. Presently, she is the founder and president of “Win This Fight! This week Safe House Project co-founders, Brittany Dunn & Kristi Wells, are joined by Founder of Refuge for Women, Ked Frank.  When people ask Ked how Refuge for Women came about, the story boils down to one word: obedience. Through the course of a transition period in his life, Ked had three conversations with individuals that led him to a point where the vision for Refuge for Women was laid out in front in him. He and his wife, Michelle, felt like doing anything other than starting this ministry would be direct disobedience to God. Refuge for Women was not Ked's idea, but rather God's idea. Ked simply stepped out in obedience. Professionally, Ked spent two and a half years working on staff at The Refuge, a recovery facility for men suffering from addiction to drugs and alcohol. It was there that he gained an understanding of addiction and the power of a faith-based program in showing residents a new path forward. From there, Ked felt called to a pastoral position at Southland Christian Church in Lexington, Kentucky. At Southland, Ked worked alongside a co-worker with a vision for reaching women in the adult entertainment industry. It was here that Ked got his first exposure to women who had been sexually exploited. His heart broke and a deep discontent settled in his heart. Something was just not right. There didn't seem to be a way out for any of these women. The seeds of Refuge for Women were being sown. The final piece of the puzzle for Refuge for Women came into place when one of Ked's best friends bought a piece of land to build a new home for his family. When Ked learned that the land had an old farmhouse, he simply could not shake the idea of it from his mind. After a conversation, both men were astonished that they had been given the same vision...this farmhouse was indeed to be used for ministry. Refuge for Women had found a home! Refuge for Women was birthed out of that very same farmhouse in a rural area outside Lexington, Kentucky. Ked founded Refuge for Women in 2009. In the years since, Kentucky has established a strong 3 phase program. One of Ked's major strengths has been bringing together faith and intellect to build a program that is solid on both fronts. Refuge for Women has seen great success and is expanding the program to other cities outside Kentucky. Currently, Refuge for Women has open locations in Kentucky, Texas, Nevada,Illinois, and Ohio. Prior to founding Rescue America  in 2014, Allison spent over ten years in corporate America where she managed $4M in insurance premiums and a $10M sales territory before breaking away to create and launch an IVF insurance product, Vitality Solutions, resulting in a first-of-its-kind insurance product that reimburses those for whom IVF does not result in live birth. Allison contributes a wealth of business strategy, development, finance, and outside-the-box thinking to the organization, and is a fierce risk- taker when it comes to doing her part to bring the Kingdom of God to earth. This week Safe House Project co-founders, Brittany Dunn & Kristi Wells, are joined by survivor leader, Julie Whitehead.  Julie Whitehead is a survivor of 31 years of abuse, including child sexual abuse, domestic violence, and sex trafficking. Dr. James A. Chu, a nationally recognized researcher and professor of psychiatry at Harvard University, describes Julie's experiences as, “one of the most egregious histories of lifelong abuse I have encountered.”      Julie was raised in the picturesque town of Bountiful, Utah to a religious middle-class family and community. To most people, she appeared to be a typical happy child, but things were never quite as they seemed.   At four years old, someone close to Julie started sexually abusing her, which lasted until she was in her early teens. While one form of abuse ended, Julie was emotionally and physically abused for the next 12 years by her then-husband, who often encouraged her to take her own life.       With her marriage unraveling, trying to raise three children, and desperate to find hope, Julie started working as a preschool teacher in an upper-class community of northern Utah. It was during this time that a student's father befriended Julie and slowly gained her trust, promising her a new life of peace and hope—only to betray her. This man was a sex trafficker.      Every weekend for the next five months, Julie was trafficked in multiple U.S. states, out of the country, and even in her own home, where she was repeatedly threatened, drugged, and raped. On weekdays, she returned to her regular routine: taking care of her kids and working in the community. Julie lived two different lives until, one day, someone finally noticed her and helped her escape.     Despite 31 years of trauma, Julie is recovering and finds hope in the future with her husband, Barry, and six children. Today, she's an advocate for survivors of abuse and sex trafficking and inspires others with her remarkable courage. She's also an active speaker who focuses on bringing victims out of the shadows.      Julie and Barry serve on an advisory board for the Malouf Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in northern Utah dedicated to fight child sexual exploitation.
