Podcast Summary: Chef Duff Goldman – Just a Guy Doing What He LovesGuest: Chef Duff Goldman, celebrity baker, entrepreneur, and TV personalityHost: Bart Berkey, Founder of Most People Don'tEpisode Theme:"Most People Are Really Cool." Chef Duff shares his journey of authenticity, kindness, and creativity—proving that success comes not from chasing profits but from following one's passions and treating people right.Key Learnings & Takeaways:1. Overcoming Anxiety and Self-DoubtWe are all wired for anxiety, a survival instinct from our ancestors. The key is recognizing it as normal rather than something to feel guilty about. Many people live in a "cage of self-doubt," preventing them from reaching their full potential. Acceptance is the first step toward breaking free and creating great things.2. Following Your Heart Is Simple, but Not EasyDuff references Moana as an example of how following your heart is a basic yet challenging concept. He emphasizes the importance of ignoring societal currents that try to dictate what we should do and instead embracing personal passions.3. Shifting Life's Focus: From Self to OthersBecoming a father changed Duff's perspective—his daughter is now the center of his universe. This shift makes life less self-centered and more fulfilling, driving him to work with purpose, not just for financial gain.4. Kindness is Strength, Not WeaknessDuff believes most people are inherently good, despite society and media painting the world as dangerous. He encourages choosing kindness, even in business, and notes that a culture of fear and transactional interactions have eroded true hospitality.A standout moment: On Kids Baking Championship, he didn't correct a child when he misidentified their cake design—he adjusted and reinforced their confidence instead.5. Authenticity in Business & LeadershipDuff's cake business was built on passion and creativity, starting as a way for musicians to support themselves. He hired art students and creatives who helped elevate his cakes to a new level.A key lesson: Let competent people do what they're best at. He acknowledges that he wasn't a great businessman initially but learned to delegate and trust others.6. The Hospitality Industry Needs to Loosen UpDuff critiques the fear-driven, robotic customer service culture in many industries, particularly travel and hospitality. He urges companies to encourage genuine human interactions, as authenticity makes all the difference in customer experiences.7. The Impact of Television on His SuccessWhile Charm City Cakes was already well-known in Baltimore, TV was the game-changer for Duff's global brand. He learned that being on TV is a craft—and his biggest compliment is when people say he's the same person in real life as on screen.8. Future Plans & Business GrowthDuff is launching a new deli at the Atlanta Airport—a dream he's had for years. His cookbooks (Duff Bakes, Super Good Baking for Kids, and Super Good Cookies for Kids) focus on the science and fun of baking. His band will be playing in Vegas at the International Baking Industry Expo.Final Thought: Most People Are Really CoolWhen asked to complete the sentence “Most people don't __,” Duff flipped it:**"Most people are really cool."**He believes most people are kind, generous, and willing to help others, despite how society portrays the world. He encourages looking for moments of goodness and supporting others through small acts of kindness—whether it's a simple smile, a few dollars for someone in need, or a moment of empathy.More about Duff here: https://www.duff.com/More about Most People Don't here: https://bartaberkey.com

Rhonda tells Mark what guys could do for women on Valentine's Day. Taking your partner out to a nice dinner could be the ticket for a great start to a beautiful night!
Jason “Foxy” Fox embodies resilience forged through two decades of elite military service and a deeply personal battle with mental health. Enlisting in the Royal Marines at 16, he rose through the ranks to join the UK's clandestine Special Boat Service (SBS), where he led high-stakes operations across Iraq, Afghanistan, and other global hotspots for 10 years. From hostage rescues to counter-narcotics missions, Fox operated at the razor's edge of combat, earning expertise in demolitions, jungle survival, and maritime counter-terrorism. Yet beneath the hardened exterior lay a brewing storm – the psychological toll of relentless combat zones and fractured personal relationships culminated in a 2012 medical discharge diagnosed with PTSD. Adrift after leaving the forces, Fox faced what he describes as his “darkest hour”: a collapsing marriage, toxic relationships, and spiralling suicidal thoughts. “I was a mess,” he recalls. “I'd built this identity as an invincible soldier, but admitting I needed help felt like weakness”[9][18]. His turning point came through therapy and organisations like Rock2Recovery, where he learned to reframe vulnerability as strength. This journey inspired his Sunday Times bestselling memoir *Battle Scars*, a raw account of confronting mental health struggles that resonated far beyond military circles. Fox's second act has seen him become a beacon of hope through television and advocacy. As a lead instructor on Channel 4's *SAS: Who Dares Wins* since 2015, he tests civilians and celebrities alike with brutal Special Forces training drills, using the show as a platform to discuss emotional resilience. His investigative series *Inside the Real Narcos* further showcased his ability to thrive under pressure, embedding with drug cartels in Latin America[1][4]. Beyond screens, Fox co-founded BreakPoint, a team-building company applying military strategies to corporate challenges, and delivers keynote speeches on leadership and overcoming adversity. Now a prominent mental health advocate, Fox emphasises that “PTSD isn't just a soldier's struggle – life can traumatise anyone”. Through his 2022 *Life at the Limit* speaking tour and ongoing work, he teaches practical techniques for managing stress: acknowledging fears, creating action plans, and finding purpose through service. From surviving Taliban ambushes to navigating depression's trenches, Fox's story proves that even the toughest battles can be won – not through sheer force, but by embracing vulnerability and supporting others on their journeys. As he puts it: “True strength isn't about being unbreakable. It's about learning how to rebuild when you do”. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Full Episode- (09/17/2024): 3:05pm- On Tuesday, Governor Ron DeSantis held a press conference in West Palm Beach and explained that it isn't in the country's best interest to have the same agencies that are prosecuting former President Donald Trump simultaneously leading the investigation into Sunday's assassination attempt. 3:10pm- On Sunday, Secret Service spotted a 58-year-old man hidden inside the perimeter of Donald Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida—armed with an AK-47 style rifle, scope, and ceramic plates likely used as protection from gunfire. According to initial reports, the suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, had been hiding at Trump International Golf Club for 12-hours with the intent of assassinating the former president who golfed 300 yards away. Secret Service fired at Routh, though he managed to escape in a Nissan before ultimately being arrested a short time later. This is now the second assassination attempt against former president Trump in roughly two-months. 3:20pm- On Tuesday, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris spoke with members of the National Association of Black Journalists in Center City, Philadelphia. Rich notes that Harris's visit means more word salads and more local traffic. 3:30pm- Kat Timpf—Comedian, TV Personality, and New York Times Bestselling Author—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss her latest book, “I Used to Like You Until…(How Binary Thinking Divides Us).” How important is her book? Timpf jokes: “I would rather even have people read [the book] than buy it, which sounds crazy to my own bottom line.” You can find more information about the book here: https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/I-Used-to-Like-You-Until/Kat-Timpf/9781668067277 3:40pm- While speaking with Politico, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas stated that Donald Trump is now “approximately” receiving the same security as Joe Biden. 4:05pm- Rich wonders: how are these “random, lone gunmen” able to get so close to former President Donald Trump? It's imperative all information regarding both assassination attempts be made public. 4:15pm- While speaking with Megyn Kelly, Eric Trump said that people are clearly trying to kill his father and that the threats will not stop. 4:20pm- The History of Presidential Assassination Attempts: There have been four presidents who have been assassinated while in office: Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, William McKinley, and John F. Kennedy. Sadly, there have also been numerous attempts against sitting and former presidents—including Ronald Reagan, Donald Trump, and Teddy Roosevelt. Interestingly, a would-be assassin's gun misfired twice while attempting to kill Andrew Jackson—Jackson used a cane to beat the man. 4:40pm- Diddy Indicted on Charges of Sex Trafficking: Ben Sisario and Julia Jacobs write, “in a federal indictment unsealed on Tuesday, Mr. Combs, 54, was also described as the boss of a yearslong criminal enterprise that threatened and abused women, coercing them to participate against their will in drug-fueled orgies with male prostitutes and threatening them with violence or the loss of financial support if they refused. Mr. Combs, who pleaded not guilty, was denied bail at an arraignment on Tuesday afternoon. The 14-page indictment against Mr. Combs, a producer, record executive and performer who is also known as Diddy and Puff Daddy, includes three counts of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. Prosecutors said that to commit these acts, Mr. Combs and his employees engaged in kidnapping, forced labor, arson and bribery, and kept firearms at the ready.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/17/arts/music/sean-combs-diddy-indicted.html 4:50pm- Rich hates avocado mayo, brioche buns, and Matt. 5:05pm- On Tuesday, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris spoke with members of the National Association of Black Journalists in Center City, Philadel ...
