Robin Harris, bassist and vocalist for Canada's Wormwitch, joins me this week to discuss their sensational self-titled album, released by Profound Lore Records in July. We also explore how Robin discovered metal, Wormwitch's creative evolution, and we go deep on our personal experiences of organized religion. On my weekly news rant, I check out the first single by Opeth to feature death metal growls in over a decade. I also round up the latest cuts by Oranssi Pazuzu, Concrete Winds, Undeath, Abramelin and others for judgment. PLUS: Ancestor of Kaos out of Havana, Cuba step into my independant band spotlight with the first single off their upcoming record, “Animal Ritual”, due out in 2025.▶️SUPPORT THE BANDS FEATURED ON THIS EPISODEWormwitchhttps://wormwitch.bandcamp.com/ Ancestor of Kaoshttps://ancestorofkaos.bandcamp.com/ Horned Almightyhttps://hornedalmighty.bandcamp.com/ Destroyer 666 https://www.facebook.com/destroyer666page ▶️SUBSCRIBE TO THE PODCAST https://youtube.com/c/IntoTheNecrosphere ▶️STREAM & DOWNLOADAmazon Musichttps://amzn.to/3epNJ4KSpotifyhttps://spoti.fi/3iKqbIPApple Podcastshttps://apple.co/38wDYhi ▶️SOCIAL MEDIAFacebookhttps://www.facebook.com/intothenecrosphere Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/intothenecrosphere Twitterhttps://twitter.com/inecrosphere ▶️INTO THE NECROSPHERE MERCHhttps://into-the-necrosphere.creator-spring.com▶️THE HORSEMEN OF THE PODCASTING APOCALYPSE Horrorwolf666https://thehorrorwolf666podcast.buzzsprout.com/ Everything Went Blackhttps://everythingwentblack.podbean.com/ Necromaniacshttps://necromaniacs.podbean.com/ Sol Noxhttps://www.solnoxpodcast.podbean.com/ Iblis Manifestationshttps://linktr.ee/iblismanifestationspodcast
Coleman is joined LIVE in studio by former host and Powerchord brother, Chris "The Mountain" for a run down of upcoming local death metal gigs from Phrenelith, Necrot, and more; new music from Misyrion, Krash, Spectral Wound, Wormwitch, Pallbearer, and others. Not much for clean vox or chill vibes on this one, mostly just aural punishment. Please enjoy.
For the first time ever, three members of Gehenna's classic mid-nineties line-up join the podcast to discuss their first two releases - “The First Spell” and “Seen Through The Veil Of Darkness (The Second Spell)”. It's the final (non-Patreon) episode of the year! We've reflected on our year and with all the sentimentality inherent in these high holidays, decide to rip into some real freaks. First up: Venom Prison has been accused of TERF shit - we investigate. Season of Mist and their dipshit PR lady decided to weigh in and provide some truly nasty transphobia on Christmas Eve. We dig deeper into the dreaded Season of Piss. The now former guitarist for Wormwitch penned a lengthy Substack diatribe about masculinity and gender and all kinds of dumb horseshit and then got fired. Violet Cold is having an extended meltdown. We dive into all of it and then we make some big predictions for the world of heavy metal in 2023. It's a good one? Music featured on this show: L.O.T.I.O.N. Ep. 55 - Wormwitch. In this episode I talk with Colby of Wormwitch. I was very honored to talk with a member of one of my favorite bands to come out the last few years. I've been a Wormwitch fan since the release of their 1st album 'Strike Mortal Soil' and their 2nd album 'Heaven That Dwells Within" was my favorite album of 2019. Needless to say I was excited when Colby agreed to talk with me. We talk about the history of the band, albums, and their newest single. Wormwitch just released a new single "Age Of The Ordeal Of Iron" on May 13th. It is available to stream on all digital platforms. Thanks for checking out this episode, I hope you all enjoy!. -- Wormwitch bandcamp: https://wormwitch.bandcamp.com/ -- Wormwitch Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/2f59CKxRPx3HOc96WcCL4q?si=yDGysMS6SmGXRskHLHOuqw -- Wormwitch Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC7pPMAmSvtVYrPnDY6c_IA -- Wormwitch IG: https://www.instagram.com/wormwitchofficial/ -- Wormwitch FB: https://www.facebook.com/wormwitch

In a bumper episode, Hell Bent For Metal talks to Andrew O'Neill – comedian, Edinburgh Festival fixture, former Terrorizer columnist, and the creator of the show The History Of Heavy Metal – about their experience of expressing their gender identity in the metal world, and about being an outsider in most rooms they're in. (And Altar Of Plagues. Standard HBFM.)In this week's Camp Classic, the relevance to the queer experience of 'Walk With Me In Hell' by Lamb Of God, and what on earth this has to do with Pride, music college, and a certain area of Reddit.Plus this week's additions for the Hate Crew Gaybar jukebox are ManiaCult, the eleventh (!) album from Belgian brutal death metallers Aborted, and Wolf Hex, the new record from Canadian riffsters Wormwitch.(Yes, this episode is later than planned. Real Life got in the way. Sorry.)

We found ourselves sans "Creature Feature" again this week. But no matter, as there was enough going on in the World of Heavy Metal to grab our attention. The month of August has some off the beaten path anniversaries. Death Metal legends Cannibal Corpse dropped their infamous debut this month in '90. As well, this is the 20th anniversary of Go-Gos vocalist Belinda Carlisle appearing Playboy(!) But honestly... we read the article too! Finally, we share our theory of 80's hard rocker Billy Squire being the original Rage Against The Machine(!!) In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we go over our "Metal Fix" and crank tunage from the aforementioned C.C. + new and used from Negative Approach, Vincent Crowley, Acid Witch, Wormwitch, Pantychrist and the amazing Lingua Ignota! In this episode, I doubled up a bunch of heavy hitters cuz it just felt right. let's start with some Japanese Serial Killer Doom and then back to Canada with some of the dark heavy riders The Death Wheelers and Pale Mare and shift to Blackened Death with Altered Dead, Ischemic, and Wormwitch and ride out the rest of the show a pile new music from all over the US. All Hail The Black Goat.
Coleman returns from parental leave to highlight what might be the best (non-festival) week of live music in Vancouver all year: King Diamond, Daughters, Lingua Ignota, High on Fire, Power Trip, Uada, and Wormwitch! Many other heavy and harsh things abound. Dig in.
The first time we spoke with Prosthetic recording artists Wormwitch it was a memorable occasion. They killed it live supporting the legendary Suffocation. Fast forward a few years and WW are back with a new record, more experience, and a headlining tour of their own. As a bonus, this time we caught up with all three Wormwitchers. We discussed the new record "Heaven That Dwells Within", the growth of the band, and share a road story of the wrong kind of sex in "Sex, Drugs and Rock N Roll" (!!). In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discuss Metal and Punk bands that have crossed over (not "crossover") to the other's audience. Musically, we crank the new WW, plus Enthroned, Enforced, Cropsy Maniac, Tripsitter, some classics from Nuclear Assault, Dead Kennedys and Ludichrist. Finally, we introduce Canadian punkers Pervcore in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns!! This Episode is sponsored by Trve Kvlt Coffee. Summon the coffee demons to possess yourself a cup today! Wahoo! New shows are the bestest! Especially when they start off with a great conversation with our boy Colby (guitarist) from Wormwitch! We talk about how they got started and a little bit of the good and bad about the road life are just a couple subjects we touch on. Thanks to Colby for his time and rest of Wormwitch for letting us use their song Dancing in the Ashes off of their brand spanking new album Heaven That Dwells Within. Holy Mother of Metal!! We got ourselves a jammed packed episode this week. Consider this a Double Feature "Creature Feature" as we present not one but two kick ass interviews. First up is the return of Misery Index axeman/voice Mark Kloeppel. With the new album "Rituals Of Power" still fresh on the racks, we got Mr. Kloeppel on the horn. We go deep into the new Seasons Of Mist album and he catches us up the band's side projects. As well, "aggressive progressive" metallers Moon Tooth are making major waves themselves. With good old fashioned rock'n'roll elbow grease, MT have carved out quite a following. So it was a good time to sit down with vox John Carbone and get the 411 (plus a surprise cool cameo!). In our "News, Views, and Tunes" we congratulate the mighty VoiVod in their Juno win, discuss the (non) value of Joe Average's record collection, and pay tribute to Thrasher editor Jake Phelps. Musically, we crank the latest from our guests plus new stuff from Wormwitch and Vile Creature, ACXDC, Psychroptic, and the legendary Assuck! Double Horns!!
