Japanese metalcore force Crystal Lake are back with their seventh studio album, The Weight of Sound, set for release on 23rd January 2026 via Century Media Records. The Weight of Sound is a strong and confident statement from Crystal Lake. It showcases a band that knows exactly who they are while still finding room to evolve. Across the album, they balance aggression, melody, and variety well. Intelligent guest appearances and sharp, focused songwriting help elevate the tracks. While some moments occasionally feel familiar, particularly within the conventions of metalcore, there are plenty of standout passages of brutality, catchiness, and genuine emotion. All of this is delivered with precision and intent. As a whole, The Weight of Sound stands as one of the most complete and engaging releases in Crystal Lake's catalogue to date. On January 16th, blackened deathcore quintet Ov Sulfur will release their sophomore album, ‘Endless', via Century Media Records. Ov Sulfur have evolved beyond the constrictions of deathcore and in doing so, have refreshed the genre itself. All by utilising black metal and melody in clever ways. I'm not saying that Ov Sulfur have changed the deathcore game here, because they haven't, but they've created something that does stand out. What it also shows is personality and authenticity, and across ten immense efforts, there's a surprising emotive vein running through the music. There's also some cinematic flair, dramatic melodies, blackened ferocity, and crushing breakdowns, because this is modern deathcore, none the less. Of Mice & Men have just dropped their ninth studio album, Another Miracle, and it is arguably their most personal record to date. In this week's episode of the Loaded Radio Podcast, frontman Aaron Pauley and drummer Tino Arteaga join us to discuss self-producing the new album, the launch of "Micespace," and why they refused to hire a big-name producer for this chapter of the band. If you have been following the trajectory of Of Mice & Men, you know they don't do things by half-measures. From the metalcore explosion of the early 2010s to becoming a staple of modern hard rock, this Southern California quartet has survived lineup changes, health scares, and industry shifts. But with their ninth studio album, Another Miracle (out now via Century Media Records), they are doing something different: they are taking complete control. This isn't just another press cycle. In this week's Loaded Radio Podcast, I sat down with vocalist/bassist Aaron Pauley and drummer Tino Arteaga to dig deep into why they decided to write, produce, engineer, mix, and master this entire record themselves. No big-name producers. No outside writers. Just four guys in a room, pouring their lived experiences into a sonic weapon.

After more than three decades, Swiss pioneering technical metallers Coroner return with a new studio album. Dissonance Theory will be released on October 17th, 2025, worldwide via Century Media Records. What does a new Coroner album look like in 2025, three decades (plus) after the release of the last one? It's a question that every listener will contemplate and it's a question that the band have clearly thought long and hard about too. Refusing to dredge the rivers of the past only and instead take a deep plunge into the dark unknown in an attempt to find relevancy. A challenge, and Coroner treat it more like a swinging pendulum, going back and forth, effortlessly combining modern technical flourishes with old-school thrashy intensity, and so much more. It's not about the past, but it's not quite about the future either. So… what does a new Coroner album look like in 2025, three decades (plus) after the release of the last one? The answer is pretty damn simple. It looks and sounds mighty fine. Send us a textWe're joined by guitarist and founding member Maik Weichert of German metal titans Heaven Shall Burn, as the band returns with their latest and most striking release to date—Heimat. Known for fusing unrelenting heaviness with deep social and political themes, Heaven Shall Burn once again proves why they've remained one of the most respected voices in modern metal. In this conversation, Maik dives into the broader meaning behind Heimat—an album that expands on the idea of “home” beyond geography. It reflects on both the physical homelands of different people and the spiritual sense of home—something that shapes identity, drives belief, and influences how we move through the world. It's a bold, thoughtful take that reinforces the band's commitment to making music with purpose. After more than two decades as a band, maintaining urgency and relevance is no small feat, but Heaven Shall Burn continues to evolve without compromising their message or power.AOTY contender, Heimat is out now worldwide via Century Media Records. QUOTES "I would describe the overall aesthetic of the record as postmodern in the sense it is purposely eclectic and incorrigibly interdisciplinary, which results in the music of Goldstar appearing both splendid and also at times disturbing… This is glorious black metal nihilism." The group is fronted by Ice-T, who first established himself as a rapper but co-founded the group with lead guitarist Ernie C out of their interest in heavy metal music. Ice-T took on the role of vocalist and writing the lyrics for most of Body Count's songs, while Ernie C has been responsible for writing the group's music.Body Count's self-titled debut album was released on Sire Records in 1992, and garnered much attention due to a controversy around the song "Cop Killer". Their label, Sire Records, and their parent company, Warner Bros. Records, defended the song; however Ice-T chose to remove it from the album because he felt that the controversy had eclipsed the music itself. The group left Sire the following year, and they have since released seven more albums.Three out of the band's original seven members are deceased: D-Roc died from lymphoma, Beatmaster V from leukemia, and Mooseman in a drive-by shooting. Body Count's current lineup includes vocalist Ice-T, guitarists Ernie C and Juan Garcia, bassist Vincent Price, drummer Will "Ill Will" Dorsey Jr., and backing vocalists Sean E Sean and Little Ice (Ice-T's son). The band received its second Grammy nomination and later won the award at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2021 for Best Metal Performance with their song "Bum Rush" from the album Carnivore.Merciless is the eighth studio album by American heavy metal band Body Count. Fitting it is that this album lands at our collective Album of the Month pick and also fitting that it was pretty much unanimous for those in attendance for this chat as well as those absent for this chat. SIGNS OF THE SWARM, hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is an American deathcore band that came together in 2014. The group is made up of drummer Bobby Crow, vocalist David Simonich, guitarist Carl Schulz, and bassist Michael Cassese. Over the years, they have delivered four compelling studio albums, with their bludgeoning fifth album, titled "Amongst the Low & Empty," hitting shelves on July 28, 2023, via Century Media Records. In the podcast, David discusses the band's being signed by Century Media, the personal pain and struggles which fueled some of the album's brutal tracks, the upcoming tour with CARNIFEX and much more. Formed in 2004 in Huddersfield, England, EVILE is a prominent thrash metal band with a rich history of line-up changes. Amidst these shifts, drummer Ben Carter has been the sole constant member from the original formation. Presently, the band's lineup includes Carter, the talented lead guitarist and vocalist Ol Drake, bassist Joel Graham, and rhythm guitarist Adam Smith, who took over from Ol Drake's older brother Matt in 2020. EVILE holds a significant place in the thrash metal resurgence of the mid-to-late 2000s, earning high praise from Kerrang! for shouldering the genre's revival. Their impressive discography boasts six studio albums: "Enter the Grave" (2007), "Infected Nations" (2009), "Five Serpent's Teeth" (2011), "Skull" (2013), "Hell Unleashed" (2021), and the recently released "The Unknown" (2023). During the second part of the show, Ol Drake joins us to discuss their latest LP "The Unknown", working with famed METALLICA producer Flemming Rasmussen and the significance of thrash metal as a genre.

VOIVOD drummer Michel "Away" Langevin and RAVEN frontman John Gallagher join us on this week's Loaded Radio Podcast. This week's edition of THE LOADED RADIO PODCAST features two veterans within the genre of heavy metal. Michel "Away" Langevin from Canadian experimental thrashers VOIVOD as well as frontman John Gallagher from New Wave Of British Heavy Metal icons RAVEN. In 2023, VOIVOD are commemorating their remarkable 40-year journey with a momentous milestone: the release of the special anniversary studio album titled "Morgöth Tales," which arrived on July 21 through Century Media Records. This album, once again recorded and mixed by Francis Perron at RadicArt Studio, mastered by Maor Appelbaum, and produced by VOIVOD themselves, showcases a captivating collection of fresh studio re-recordings. The band's current lineup carefully handpicked these selections, delving into their extensive and diverse musical catalog from 1984 to 2003. Additionally, "Morgöth Tales" features an all-new song and the eponymous title track, adding another layer of excitement. Hailing from Jonquière, Québec, VOIVOD is a prominent Canadian heavy metal band. Over the years, their musical style has undergone various transformations since their formation in the early 1980s. Initially rooted in speed metal, VOIVOD incorporated elements of progressive metal and thrash metal, forging a distinct and innovative metal sound. They are widely recognized as one of the "big four" Canadian thrash metal bands, alongside SACRIFICE, RAZOR, and ANNIHILATOR. Throughout their illustrious career, VOIVOD has attained significant influence and acclaim, making them one of the most revered metal bands from the 1980s. Their impact has transcended boundaries, garnering praise and inspiring numerous bands across a wide array of genres. The second portion of the show features a talk with John Gallagher from RAVEN who have their new studio album "All Hell's Breaking Loose" available now. RAVEN demonstrated incredible productivity from the early '80s to the late '90s, consistently delivering a new album every year or two. Following a hiatus that lasted a decade, they resumed releasing fresh material in 2010. Their latest offering, titled "All Hell's Breaking Loose," proudly stands as their fifteenth studio album. The foundation of RAVEN has always rested upon the talented Gallagher brothers: John on vocals and bass, and Mark on guitar. Throughout their journey, the band has seen several drummers come and go, but since 2018, they have been accompanied by the skilled Mike Heller (known for his work with FEAR FACTORY and MALIGNANCY). Heller's presence on board marks his second album collaboration with RAVEN, with "All Hell's Breaking Loose" being recorded at his studio in Los Angeles. In 2023, RAVEN's musical direction remains faithful to the path they carved during the glorious era of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). However, they harness their decades of experience and combine it with modern production techniques when crafting the songs that adorn "All Hell's Breaking Loose." This fusion allows them to uphold their musical roots while embracing the advancements of the present day.
