The Metal Debate podcast is back with another amazing album review... this time looking at the new album from avante garde black metallers Imperial Triumphant, “Goldstar" (Century Media Records, 2025). QUOTES "I would describe the overall aesthetic of the record as postmodern in the sense it is purposely eclectic and incorrigibly interdisciplinary, which results in the music of Goldstar appearing both splendid and also at times disturbing… This is glorious black metal nihilism." This week we continue our coverage of Night Demon's October 2024 headlining run through Europe, supported by Traveler. The narrative resumes with a show in Namur, Belgium, at an unlikely venue that was a converted cable car station atop a hill. Despite unexpected lighting challenges and volume limits, the band had a good show and won over many new fans. From there, Night Demon proceeded to their first-ever gig in Bochum, Germany, playing a corner stage in a packed upstairs room. You will learn why the guys do not like playing corner stages and how this contributed to a painful onstage mishap for Jarvis.Become a subscriber today at nightdemon.net/subscriber. Jesse Starcher, Robert Cooper, Mik Wanamaker and Mark Radulich present their Body Count Merciless 2024 Album Review as part of the MHOD Jukebox!Body Count is an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1990. The group is fronted by Ice-T, who first established himself as a rapper but co-founded the group with lead guitarist Ernie C out of their interest in heavy metal music. Ice-T took on the role of vocalist and writing the lyrics for most of Body Count's songs, while Ernie C has been responsible for writing the group's music.Body Count's self-titled debut album was released on Sire Records in 1992, and garnered much attention due to a controversy around the song "Cop Killer". Their label, Sire Records, and their parent company, Warner Bros. Records, defended the song; however Ice-T chose to remove it from the album because he felt that the controversy had eclipsed the music itself. The group left Sire the following year, and they have since released seven more albums.Three out of the band's original seven members are deceased: D-Roc died from lymphoma, Beatmaster V from leukemia, and Mooseman in a drive-by shooting. Body Count's current lineup includes vocalist Ice-T, guitarists Ernie C and Juan Garcia, bassist Vincent Price, drummer Will "Ill Will" Dorsey Jr., and backing vocalists Sean E Sean and Little Ice (Ice-T's son). The band received its second Grammy nomination and later won the award at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2021 for Best Metal Performance with their song "Bum Rush" from the album Carnivore.Merciless is the eighth studio album by American heavy metal band Body Count. It was released on November 22, 2024, via Century Media Records. Production was handled by Ice-T, Vincent Price and Will Putney. It features guest appearances from Corpsegrinder, Howard Jones, Joe Bad, and Max Cavalera.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

While they may be renowned for their unique blend of gothic and death metal, Tribulation are not ones to repeat a formula and on Sub Rosa in Æternum, they conjure a new beast. Part psychological horror of Italian cinema, part gaunt British goth, and part Art Deco opulence. It was released on November 1st, 2024, via Century Media Records. The ever-evolving face of Tribulation is on clear display here and they can never be accused of stagnating. Another strong example of them being imaginative and interesting. When it's good (Saturn Coming Down, Murder in Red, Reaping Song), it's really freaking good. Tribulation as untouchable as ever. Read our full review of the new album here: https://www.gbhbl.com/album-review-tribulation-sub-rosa-in-aeternum-century-media-records/ We spoke to guitarist Adam Zaars (cold and all) about the new album and the creative energy the band found they had when it came to making it a reality. We discuss the vision and how some clean vocals set the stage for what we would get. We also discuss the horror influences, getting into the impact of giallos on the band as a whole, as well as this record, and so much more. Finnish melancholic death and doom masters, Swallow the Sun will release their brand-new album, ‘Shining' on October 18th, 2024, via Century Media Records. An album that explores the intrinsic challenges of being human. Which, unsurprisingly, gives Shining a certain level of intangibility as the subjects and themes are so broad. Yet, also unsurprisingly, this examination of being human comes in the form of deep, rich, epic, and infectious melancholy. There is beauty in the darkness, and Swallow the Sun are masters of making it shine. You can read our full review of the new album here: https://www.gbhbl.com/album-review-swallow-the-sun-shining-century-media-records/ We spoke to mastermind Juha Raivio (Guitar / Backing Vocals / Keys) about his new album, delving into the experience of making it and the toll it took on both him and the band. We delve into extremely personal feelings and thoughts about this album, with Juha proving to be unflinchingly honest as usual. All while showcasing his inimitable dark humour when talking about the melancholic aspect of the band, and how this record has a brightness unlike anything in recent times from Swallow the Sun. It is a fascinating, and very entertaining interview, with so much more covered throughout the talk. It's a well known fact that Vitriol slap, as they say. But did you know that they are one of a very few and select bands pushing death metal to new heights? That's kind of a rhetorical question…more of a fact tidbit for you than anything since their latest effort Suffer & Become (Century Media) is somehow better than anything they've touched to date and blows everything out of the water thus far this year. Fitting it is that this album lands at our collective Album of the Month pick and also fitting that it was pretty much unanimous for those in attendance for this chat as well as those absent for this chat. No spoilers beyond the obvious though so you'll need to grab a piece of floor or something comfy and kick back while we embellish on this album as well as several other highlights from the month and of course all the other places we meander to during these things. Dive in and enjoy. 9C LINKS: Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram

Evolution. If there's one word out there to describe deathcore mainstays Signs Of The Swarm, there you have it. We are joined by prolific drummer Bobby Crow to talk about one of the most creative deathcore albums in recent memory, titled “Amongst The Low & Empty.” In the last 10 years, the sound of deathcore has evolved, and while other notable acts like Lorna Shore, Thy Art Is Murder, and Slaughter To Prevail have played their part, Signs Of The Swarm deserve every bit of recognition in that group. Bobby talks about this process of keeping the music fresh and finding creative ways to compose such technicalities in a revitalized genre of heavy music. We also talk to Bobby about his rise to prominence amongst the best drummers today, and his life outside of the industry, involving getting engaged and moving into a new home on an already jam-packed summer. Tune into our in-depth discussion with Bobby Crow and be sure to buy and stream the new album, “Amongst The Low & Empty,” out now worldwide via Century Media Records.Stay connected with Signs Of The Swarm, visit: https://signsoftheswarm.com/bio, https://www.instagram.com/signsoftheswarm/ and https://www.facebook.com/signsoftheswarm/Stay connected with IUF, visit: https://interviewunderfire.com/
SIGNS OF THE SWARM, hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is an American deathcore band that came together in 2014. The group is made up of drummer Bobby Crow, vocalist David Simonich, guitarist Carl Schulz, and bassist Michael Cassese. Over the years, they have delivered four compelling studio albums, with their bludgeoning fifth album, titled "Amongst the Low & Empty," hitting shelves on July 28, 2023, via Century Media Records. In the podcast, David discusses the band's being signed by Century Media, the personal pain and struggles which fueled some of the album's brutal tracks, the upcoming tour with CARNIFEX and much more. Formed in 2004 in Huddersfield, England, EVILE is a prominent thrash metal band with a rich history of line-up changes. Amidst these shifts, drummer Ben Carter has been the sole constant member from the original formation. Presently, the band's lineup includes Carter, the talented lead guitarist and vocalist Ol Drake, bassist Joel Graham, and rhythm guitarist Adam Smith, who took over from Ol Drake's older brother Matt in 2020. EVILE holds a significant place in the thrash metal resurgence of the mid-to-late 2000s, earning high praise from Kerrang! for shouldering the genre's revival. Their impressive discography boasts six studio albums: "Enter the Grave" (2007), "Infected Nations" (2009), "Five Serpent's Teeth" (2011), "Skull" (2013), "Hell Unleashed" (2021), and the recently released "The Unknown" (2023). During the second part of the show, Ol Drake joins us to discuss their latest LP "The Unknown", working with famed METALLICA producer Flemming Rasmussen and the significance of thrash metal as a genre.

Ep 89 - Mental Cruelty. In this episode I talk with Lukas Nicolai (Vocalist). Mental Cruelty is a blackened death core band based out of Germany. Mental Cruelty released their 4th full-length album ‘Zwielicht' on June 23th on Century Media. Take it from me, Zwielicht is one of the best albums of 2023. It pushes the boundaries of extreme music and seamlessly blends different styles of metal. I was a big fan of their previous album ‘A Hill To Die Upon' released in 2021. Since then they recruited Lukas on vocals and moved to Century Media Records. We talk about Lukas' background as a vocalist, how he joined Mental Cruelty, the new album, and bands he recommends. I hope everyone enjoys this episode. VOIVOD drummer Michel "Away" Langevin and RAVEN frontman John Gallagher join us on this week's Loaded Radio Podcast. This week's edition of THE LOADED RADIO PODCAST features two veterans within the genre of heavy metal. Michel "Away" Langevin from Canadian experimental thrashers VOIVOD as well as frontman John Gallagher from New Wave Of British Heavy Metal icons RAVEN. In 2023, VOIVOD are commemorating their remarkable 40-year journey with a momentous milestone: the release of the special anniversary studio album titled "Morgöth Tales," which arrived on July 21 through Century Media Records. This album, once again recorded and mixed by Francis Perron at RadicArt Studio, mastered by Maor Appelbaum, and produced by VOIVOD themselves, showcases a captivating collection of fresh studio re-recordings. The band's current lineup carefully handpicked these selections, delving into their extensive and diverse musical catalog from 1984 to 2003. Additionally, "Morgöth Tales" features an all-new song and the eponymous title track, adding another layer of excitement. Hailing from Jonquière, Québec, VOIVOD is a prominent Canadian heavy metal band. Over the years, their musical style has undergone various transformations since their formation in the early 1980s. Initially rooted in speed metal, VOIVOD incorporated elements of progressive metal and thrash metal, forging a distinct and innovative metal sound. They are widely recognized as one of the "big four" Canadian thrash metal bands, alongside SACRIFICE, RAZOR, and ANNIHILATOR. Throughout their illustrious career, VOIVOD has attained significant influence and acclaim, making them one of the most revered metal bands from the 1980s. Their impact has transcended boundaries, garnering praise and inspiring numerous bands across a wide array of genres. The second portion of the show features a talk with John Gallagher from RAVEN who have their new studio album "All Hell's Breaking Loose" available now. RAVEN demonstrated incredible productivity from the early '80s to the late '90s, consistently delivering a new album every year or two. Following a hiatus that lasted a decade, they resumed releasing fresh material in 2010. Their latest offering, titled "All Hell's Breaking Loose," proudly stands as their fifteenth studio album. The foundation of RAVEN has always rested upon the talented Gallagher brothers: John on vocals and bass, and Mark on guitar. Throughout their journey, the band has seen several drummers come and go, but since 2018, they have been accompanied by the skilled Mike Heller (known for his work with FEAR FACTORY and MALIGNANCY). Heller's presence on board marks his second album collaboration with RAVEN, with "All Hell's Breaking Loose" being recorded at his studio in Los Angeles. In 2023, RAVEN's musical direction remains faithful to the path they carved during the glorious era of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). However, they harness their decades of experience and combine it with modern production techniques when crafting the songs that adorn "All Hell's Breaking Loose." This fusion allows them to uphold their musical roots while embracing the advancements of the present day.
The year is 2003. Nu metal was experiencing its decline in popularity after nearly 10 years of domination and the guitar had seemingly taken a backseat across several forms of music. Even genre-heavyweights like Metallica were shying away from guitar solos to avoid sounding "outdated". Just when trends appeared to lean away from the antics and styles of the '70s & '80s, enter The Darkness: a band rooted in big guitars, big hooks, and big presentation. In the summer of 2003, the four-piece from Lowestoft dropped their debut album to an unsuspecting audience pining for hard rock to have a return to form. As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band's seminal album, Austin & Dylan are joined by riff disciple Nate Garrett (Spirit Adrift, Big Riff Energy) to discuss The Darkness' Permission to Land as well as the upcoming Spirit Adrift album Ghost at the Gallows which arrives August 18th on Century Media Records. It has been said that Richmond, Virginia turns out some incredible metal. Enforced are one of those bands that prove it with their brand of crossover thrash that nudges the gates of death and speed metal. With two incredible albums under their belts, their third, War Remains (Century Media Records), turns those on their head and curb stomps them...for real, it's that good. We could go on and on about how good but our man Buke recently sat down with vocalist Knox Colby to discuss the new album, band history, Richmond's metal scene, and so much more (you know how we roll). OV SULFUR have unleashed their debut full-length album, "The Burden Ov Faith", via Century Media Records. Wilson comments: "Having Howard (Jones - LIGHT THE TORCH, ex-KILLSWITCH ENGAGE) hop on the album version of 'Wide Open' was the best thing that could have happened. We knew we wanted the song on the album, but we also knew it needed new life to live alongside the rest of the songs and not just be tossed on there. It's crazy to us he wanted to work with us - less surprising is the fact he absolutely killed it. We just gave him the song and lyrics, and we let him do his thing. He really pushes the song to another level with both his screaming and singing. What a legend!" Of the album, OV SULFUR vocalist Ricky Hoover comments: "I'm beyond proud of what we've created on 'The Burden Ov Faith'. Who would have thought I would be screaming on new music over a decade after leaving Suffokate - let alone singing?! I legitimately didn't think I was ever coming back to music period when I left back in 2012, so to have an album out on one of the most respected labels in metal is mindblowing. Huge shout out to all my band mates and everyone who worked to create this with us - and everyone who takes time out of their life to listen!" Crafted by the band alongside producer Morgoth Beatz (WINDS OF PLAGUE, SCARLXRD), then mixed/mastered by maestro Josh Schroeder (LORNA SHORE, TALLAH), "The Burden Ov Faith" sees the two split engineering of vocals and drums, respectively, with former MACHINE HEAD guitarist Logan Mader stepping in to capture the guitars and bass. The resulting album spans the stygian planets of deathcore, black metal, and metalcore, creating something as majestic as it is hook-laden. It also finds vocalist Ricky Hoover exploring the singing side of his voice, which he'd developed over years in choir as a child and only now added to his impressive growls and screams on a metal album. The second half of the podcast will see Loaded Radio's Scott Penfold and Jules discuss the "Top 13 Nu-Metal Bands Who Defined The Era". Tune in via the player or wherever you get your podcasts.
We welcome guitarist Chase Wilson, guitarist of rising deathcore outfit, Ov Sulfur onto IUF. Ov Sulfur have been making waves in the last year or so, from touring alongside other acts such as Lorna Shore and As I Lay Dying, and the talk of the town has been about the innovative musicianship of this Las Vegas-based quartet. Chase talks to us about the origins of the band which lead up to the highly-anticipated debut album drop. The new album, “The Burden Ov Faith” has taken the sound of deathcore around a new corner, which has been catching the eye of many die-hards as well as bringing in newcomers. Some bands can have a tough time finding the right groove early in their career, but Ov Sulfur has had no issue establishing their signature sound. We ask Chase about the writing process that has elevated his play, and while the bar is set high, he is looking forward to expanding his musicality even further. And lastly, we ask him about the band's experience of being endorsed by the Metal Ambassador himself, Jose Mangin, during their killer set at the “Headbang For Science” show. This week's edition of The Loaded Radio Podcast is a double header. Ohio-based death metal band SANGUISUGABOGG have the follow-up to their 2021' album "Tortured Whole" on the slab which bears the title "Homicidal Ecstasy", arriving February 3rd via Century Media Records. Helmed by SANGUISUGABOGG drummer Cody Davidson, the LP crushingly splits through with such a horrifying, brutal attack, which is thanks in part to the mixing duties of CONVERGE guitarist and studio vet Kurt Ballou [HIGH ON FIRE, NAILS] who “made it sound like us on steroids,” says Swank. Devin discusses the album in this week's podcast, as well as the NSFW video for its latest single "Face Ripped Off", which doesn't even hesitate for a second to take its unflinching gore to the next level. Also joining host Scott Penfold on this week's show is PIERCE THE VEIL guitarist Tony Perry, who is promoting the band's latest effort "The Jaws of Life". The San-Diego based group's upcoming fifth studio album is set to be released on February 10 after a seven year wait between LP's. This release will also mark PIERCE THE VEIL's first album not to feature drummer Mike Fuentes, who vacated the band in 2017. The album features collaborations with Brad Hargreaves of THIRD EYE BLIND as well as 19-year-old musician Chloe Moriondo. The album has been said to have a more "melodic and intimate" sound than past records, while also taking influence from grunge bands of the '90s.
