Bands Across America: TexasSt. Vincent – St. Vincent (2014) & Ryan Bingham – Fear and Saturday Night (2015)Our summer road trip rumbles into Texas—the Lone Star State, where musical legends roam just as freely as longhorn cattle. From the genre-blurring art-pop genius of Dallas native Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) to the dust-worn Americana storytelling of Ryan Bingham, our two stops this week show just how wide the Texas soundscape can stretch. We get funky, fearless, and a little bit heartbroken as we explore the albums that put these artists on the global map while keeping one boot planted firmly in Texas soil. What's Inside:St. Vincent's self-titled album — bold, surreal, and genre‑defying: avant‑garde pop hooks wrapped in guitar wizardry and sly cultural critiqueRyan Bingham's Fear and Saturday Night — an intimate, roots‑driven journey through loss, resilience, and hard‑earned hopeOur takes on standout tracks, production approaches, and how these records' legacies continue to evolveDeep questions, click‑bait headlines, and a spin of the Wheel of Musical Discovery to see where the road takes us nextDiggin':Lifeguard – Ripped and Torn (2025): Chicago post‑punk youth movement at its wiry, dance‑punk bestDio – Holy Diver (1983): Heavy metal classic of cosmic redemption and immortal riffsThe Armed – The Future Is Here and Everything Needs to Be Destroyed (2025): Detroit's anonymous hardcore collective adds melody without losing fireTom Odell – A Wonderful Life (2025): Piano-led indie pop with cathartic swells of hope and despairPodcast Shout-Out: Check out Music Notes with Jess — your weekly guide to what's trending in music, with insider insight and infectious enthusiasm.Join the Conversation! The likelihood of a man or woman dying of coronary heart disease is much less than it was half a century ago with better treatments and a reduction in smoking. However, as our special guests will explain today, the overall burden of coronary disease continues to grow and it still remains the single leading cause of death in Australia. Professor Will Parsonage is Clinical Director at the Australian Centre for Health Services Innovation and Senior Staff Cardiologist at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and St Vincent's Private Hospital. Associate Professor Sarah Zaman is an Academic Interventional Cardiologist at Westmead Hospital and the University of Sydney. Rachel Blackman-Rogers and Catherine Scheybeler, both of King's College London, join Alex Stevenson for an in-depth look at one of Horatio Nelson's most famous formative battles. The Royal Navy in the 1790s was always going to do well against the Spanish Navy, but it was Nelson's decisive use of initiative - and then the double-boarding to capture not one but two Spanish ships his Captain had become entangled with - which marked this battle out. Episode #24 (English). Guest: Wilco Prins, co-founder T&C Surf Designs Europe, former Rip Curl Europe CEO and EuroSIMA President Wilco Prins is a pure product of Dutch youth who, much like all the other kids in Europe at that time, got into action sports in the 80's and 90's through windsurfing, skateboarding and eventually surfing. One fine day of 1992, his passion drove him all the way to French beaches, where he discovered our waves and the lifestyle he'd read about in surfing magazines. After starting out at Rip Curl as an intern (waxing boards for Patrick Beven for a photo shoot), he quickly climbed the corporate ladder: first as Footwear Product Manager for Europe, then Head of the « wetsuits and footwear » division, then « Core Division » Manager (products and sales) and in 2013, he became the company's CEO. At the head of one of the leading companies in the industry, the Dutchman also took over for Fred Basse as EuroSIMA President, becoming, for one term, the spokesperson for the entire European action sports industry. After the Torquay-born brand let him go in 2019, Wilco bounced right back, giving a « re-birth » in Europe to another iconic brand : T&C. This new adventure, both so similar and so different from the last one, was once again driven by the same passion for boardsports and a genuine knack for business. Relaunched post-Covid, the brand with a strong Hawaiian heritage has found itself a new place in retail as well as in the hearts of consumers. This is thanks to a strategy boosted among other things, by unique collaborations, like recently with Fursac. Wilco sat down with us for a chat to talk about his many years at Rip Curl and his new experience with T&C. Along the way, he shares his analysis of the industry, markets and customer expectations and discusses the challenges that we'll all have to face in upcoming years. A fascinating episode with a key player in our industry. Recorded in the MACS premises in St Vincent de Tyrosse on April 3rd 2025.

Sister Clare Nolan was the head of nursing at St Vincent's Hospital when the HIV/AIDS epidemic reached Australia. She met with politicians, brothel workers and gay activists in the same room to work out how to save the men under her care in Ward 17 South.Clare was 21 years old when she entered the convent, against her mother's wishes, joining the Sisters of Charity novitiate to prepare for life as a nun.Clare had already completed her training as a nurse, and so she didn't want to join a contemplative order, closed off to the rest of the world.Clare wanted to take care of the sick and marginalised as a nurse, and as a nun, and so she became a 'walking sister'.Sister Clare quickly rose up the ranks, becoming the director of nursing at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney, right as the HIV/AIDS epidemic reached Australia.Clare found herself in meetings with politicians, immunologists, brothel workers, gay activists and Catholics, working together to figure out how to save the hundreds of patients who came under her care in Ward 17 South - the first and only dedicated HIV/AIDS ward in the country.Further informationYou can learn more about the Sister's of Charity of Australia and St Vincent's Health Australia online.Find out more about the Conversations Live National Tour on the ABC website.

Lucas grew up in Kells County Meath, in terms of music and acting, he didn't have a background in any of those all he wanted to do was play football, but when he was a kid he went to St Vincent de Paul theatre group for acting in Kells and he was only there because his friends were there. He always loved music as kid . He remembers watching MTV always looking a the charts but when he was older he started listening to hip hop started writing his own raps. In 2020 he went on a freestyle competition online called punchline Eire and got to the finals. He started posting content on TikTok and getting himself known in the Irish rap scene. He was contacted by a TV casting agent to sing to Louis Walsh for Simon Cowells boyband but because of the passing of Liam Payne he pulled back but it was an experience. Also during that time he got a feature roll on fair city for acting. But for the future he has an album coming called old head and young shoulders people always relate to personal growth.

1 And after these things the Lord appointed also other seventy-two: and he sent them two and two before his face into every city and place whither he himself was to come. 2 And he said to them: The harvest indeed is great, but the labourers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send labourers into his harvest. 3 Go: Behold I send you as lambs among wolves.Ite : ecce ego mitto vos sicut agnos inter lupos. 4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes; and salute no man by the way. 5 Into whatsoever house you enter, first say: Peace be to this house. In quamcumque domum intraveritis, primum dicite : Pax huic domui : 6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him; but if not, it shall return to you.et si ibi fuerit filius pacis, requiescet super illum pax vestra : sin autem, ad vos revertetur. 7 And in the same house, remain, eating and drinking such things as they have: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Remove not from house to house. 8 And into what city soever you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you.Et in quamcumque civitatem intraveritis, et susceperint vos, manducate quae apponuntur vobis : 9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say to them: The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.et curate infirmos, qui in illa sunt, et dicite illis : Appropinquavit in vos regnum Dei.Leo XIII proclaimed St Vincent the patron of all charitable associations. He was the founder of the Lazarists, or the Priests of the Mission, and of the Sisters of Charity. He died A.D. 1660.

All The Gear But No Idea - The South Australian Fishing Podcast
Send us a textEpisode 139: Lubin Pfeiffer and Asher Dezsery - RecFish SA Executive OfficerThis week we are joined by Cod and freshwater fishing guru, Lubin Pfeiffer, back for his second appearance after first joining us all the way back in episode 21. We chat with Lubin about all the fishing he's been up to including Bream comps in Victoria, NSW Murray Cod and local flathead on the West Coast. With the Algal Bloom limiting the options for saltwater fishing locally, Lubin shares some tips about those wanting to head to the fresh to catch a fish!Asher joins us to discuss all of the news relevant to RecFish SA, and there has been a lot going on in this space:The ongoing algal bloom and how it is affecting fishing locally.Squid bag limits reduced to 12 per person. An increase in the Snapper bag limit in the states South East.Commercial Kingfish netting is restricted to 3 fish per day.Damaged jetties after the recent storms. Cape Jervis master plan.We also chat more about the algal bloom, including sharks washing up both metro and across the state, with Flinders Uni wanting to collect specimens for research. We feature the Shimano Speedmaster 24kg straight butt rod as our tackle item of the week, we got this on the back of our chat with Josh Carpenter in episode 136 to target barrel tuna (if and when they arrive in better numbers.) The fishing report is pretty quiet with the Algae slowing fishing down, particularly in the Gulf of St Vincent. We couldn't get a bite when targeting Whiting off O'Sullivans beach, while northern metro and Yorke Peninsula have been quiet too. Freshwater might be the best bet at the moment with some Callop and Murray Cod being caught in the Murray, as well as some smaller trout through the hills.

In this special episode of the Eucharist Podcast, Fr. John Trammell leads a discussion about St. Vincent of Lérins, his life and his most famous contribution to the ancient church -- the Vincentian Canon. How can individuals discern Christian truth from heretical falsehood? How does one avoid falling into heresy? And how can doctrine develop over time while avoiding disintegration of the faith once delivered to the saints? These are the questions St. Vincent of Lérins set about answering in 434 AD in his revered work, The Commonitory.

Dr. John Sweetenham shares highlights from Day 5 of the 2025 ASCO Annual Meeting, including data from large trials in advanced malignant melanoma and mCSPC plus a new approach to first-line treatment for patients with multiple myeloma who are not transplant eligible. Transcript Hello, I'm Dr. John Sweetenham, the host of the ASCO Daily News Podcast, with my takeaways on selected abstracts from Day 5 of the 2025 ASCO Annual Meeting. My disclosures are available in the transcript of this episode. The selected abstracts from this final day of ASCO25 include important new data from large, randomized trials in patients with advanced malignant melanoma and patients with metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer, as well as a new approach to the first-line treatment of patients with multiple myeloma who are not transplant eligible. Starting with LBA9500, this study was conducted in patients with completely resected stage III or IV malignant melanoma and compared the combination of relatlimab plus nivolumab versus nivolumab alone in this population. The study, named the RELATIVITY-098 trial, was presented by Dr. Georgina Long from the University of Sydney, Australia. In her introduction to the study, Dr. Long explained that the current standard of care for adjuvant therapy of resected stage III/IV melanoma is with PD-1 monotherapy with nivolumab, but that about 50% of patients will suffer from a subsequent relapse. In the first-line setting in patients with advanced or unresectable melanoma, the combination of nivolumab with the LAG-3 inhibitor, relatlimab, has been previously shown to improve progression-free survival in the RELATIVITY-047 trial. The current study evaluated this same combination in the adjuvant setting. More than 1,000 patients from 24 countries were randomized to receive either nivolumab alone (546 patients) or the combination of nivolumab with relatlimab (547 patients). Both treatments were given for a maximum of 1 year or until progression of disease, unacceptable toxicity, withdrawal, or death. Various biomarker studies were also undertaken including LAG-3 and PD-1 expression on CD8-positive T cells. The primary endpoint of the study was relapse-free survival, and Dr. Long reported that this was the same in both arms of the study. For example, at 24 months, the relapse-free survival was 64% in the monotherapy arm compared with 62% in the combination arm. The hazard ratio was 1.01 and the P value was 0.928. Metastasis-free survival was also identical in both arms. No benefit was observed for the combination in any of the prespecified subgroups. No new toxicity signals emerged compared with the RELATIVITY-047 trial. Interestingly, the baseline surface expression of LAG-3 and co-expression of LAG-3 and PD-1 on CD8 T cells in the 098 adjuvant trial were lower than in the 047 advanced disease trial, perhaps explaining why the combination did not confer benefit over nivo alone in the adjuvant setting. This is an important result, demonstrating that results from one clinical setting cannot always be extrapolated to another. Although the combination has gained some use in the adjuvant setting, this study clearly demonstrates that more drug in this situation is no better and that monotherapy remains the current standard of care. Results from the AMPLITUDE trial for patients with metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer with alterations in homologous recombination repair (HRR) genes, in LBA5006, were presented today by Dr. Gerhardt Attard from University College London, UK. This international, multicenter study evaluated the combination of the selective PARP inhibitor, niraparib, in combination with abiraterone acetate and prednisone. The same combination has been previously shown to improve outcomes in castration-resistant metastatic prostate cancer harboring BRCA mutations in the MAGNITUDE study. The current trial included patients with castration-sensitive disease with HRR mutations including BRCA1/2. Six hundred and ninety-six patients were randomized between niraparib, abiraterone, and prednisone plus androgen deprivation therapy, or the same combination with placebo instead of niraparib. Permitted prior therapies included no more than 6 months of prior androgen deprivation therapy and the use of docetaxel, or prior palliative radiation therapy. The primary endpoint of the study was radiographic relapse-free survival. Dr. Attard reported that the risk for radiographic progression-free survival in the whole population was significantly reduced by 37% with niraparib and abiraterone acetate plus prednisone compared with the placebo arm. The radiographic progression-free survival risk reduction with niraparib in the prespecified BRCA1/2 subgroup was 48% and reached statistical significance compared with the placebo arm. The secondary endpoint of time to symptomatic progression was also improved with niraparib in the HRR population and the BRCA1/2 subgroup. There was a trend for overall survival favoring the niraparib combination. However, the overall survival data were immature at this first interim analysis and did not yet reach statistical significance. No new safety concerns emerged with the toxicity data consistent with the MAGNITUDE study. Less than 5% more of the patients on the experimental arm discontinued treatment in comparison to the control arm. The authors conclude that the AMPLITUDE study results support the use of niraparib, abiraterone, and prednisone as a new treatment option for patients with metastatic castration- sensitive prostate cancer and BRCA and homologous recombination repair gene alterations. The results certainly support this conclusion and are potentially practice-changing. Turning to hematologic malignancies, my final selection from today's presentations is Abstract 7504, presented by Dr. Hang Quach from St Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne, Australia, and describes a novel combination of elranatamab, daratumumab, and lenalidomide in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma who are not transplant-eligible – the so-called MagnetisMM-6 trial part 1. Elranatamab is a novel bispecific T-cell engaging antibody directed against BCMA and CD3, which has previously been approved for certain patients with relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma. In the present study, this was combined with lenalidomide and daratumumab in newly diagnosed patients. The report today describes the dose-finding phase of this study, which was part 1, specifically addressing so-called dose level ‘G', comprising elranatamab 76mg subcutaneously every 4 weeks plus daratumumab 1800mg subcutaneously and lenalidomide 25mg given orally. Thirty-seven patients were entered at this dose level, of whom 32 were on treatment at the time of analysis. Early response data show an overall response rate of 97.3%. With median follow up of 7.9 months, the current CR rate is 27% with a VGPR rate of almost 68%. The most frequent toxicities were hematologic, with neutropenia observed in 75%. Some cytokine release syndrome was observed in about 60% of patients, but none was greater than grade 2. The authors conclude that this combination is active in untreated multiple myeloma, with manageable toxicity and evidence of responses which appear to deepen over time. The dose-finding component of this trial is continuing and will subsequently progress into a phase 3 trial based on the data from the current study. This will compare daratumumab plus lenalidomide with the same combination plus elranatamab in previously untreated patients. That concludes our special coverage from the 2025 ASCO Annual Meeting. Episode #23. ENGLISH Guest: Stephane Marteau (MC Box Events) If you've been to any major surfing events in France over the past 15 years, chances are you have seen a yellow background with the big black letters « MC BOX » on pick-up trucks driving along the beach or on the back of staff T-shirts. These letters represent the company, that Stéphane Marteau founded in 2008 and which has become a benchmark in cultural and sporting events management. They also embody his successful path through the initially emergent and eventually blazing surfing industry, some fifteen years earlier. Stéphane sat down with us to talk about his formative years in the Sarthe. He talks about elite horseback riding but also how he first got into skateboarding and waves, which would completely upend his world. After discovering snowboarding in the Alps and later Hossegor in the early 90's, he eventually came to understand that was where he wanted his life to go from that point on. Over a 30-year career, Stéphane has had a variety of jobs which would all, unbeknownst to him, be stepping stones towards his own success with MX BOX Events…they would also make for many great stories. But events are not Stéphane's only playing field. He will also tell us about his successful experience in the restaurant business and his ambitions in business tourism. Today he continues to pursue these other projects, while keeping a sharp eye on the various key events he's involved in, from the Paris-Dakar, to Hell Fest, including the Roland Garros French Tennis open, and of course surfing events that intertwine with action sports culture, its industry and athletes. This episode throws a rare light on a key player in our industry, who usually stays out of the spot light.

Parental discretion is strongly advised.IN THIS EPISODE: We'll explore chilling stories of haunted orphanages, where the echoes of heartbroken and lonely children linger long after the buildings have been abandoned. (Haunted Orphanage Stories) *** “If only these walls could talk,” we've heard people say. But what if the walls could talk? In the world of paranormal investigations, the “Stone Tape Theory” is gaining recognition – or at least raising eyebrows and intrigue. Could the walls of your home have recorded your horrific death – and then replay that scene as a haunting? (The Stone Tape Theory) *** One thing is for sure in this life – and that is, your life will eventually cease. How you go out could make or break your legacy. Freak accidents are something you'd probably want to avoid, but they happen – and I have a few examples to share. (Weird Deaths) *** In the misty expanse of Bodmin Moor, a tragic tale of love, jealousy, and murder unfolded in 1844. When Charlotte Dymond's lifeless body was found, all eyes turned to her lover, Matthew Weeks, whose subsequent execution left many questioning his guilt. (The Tragic Tale of Charlotte Dymond) *** The Urantia Book – a fascinating and controversial text that blends science, religion, and philosophy into a cosmic narrative of divine beings and celestial order. But no one knows who wrote it. (The Urantia Book Of Cosmic Thought) *** I'm trying something new by telling a true story of old murder in an old detective style… I call it “Murder Noir” and tonight's case will be the death of Jeanette Earnest in Fort Worth in 1954. (Murder Noir, Jeanette Earnest) *** On Monday 17th October 1814, a terrible disaster claimed the lives of at least 8 people. A bizarre industrial accident resulted in the release of a tsunami onto the streets of London… comprised entirely of beer.
