Rejoicing in Jesus Part II | Shaun Storer | Sunday 07 June 2026) by Christ Church Midrand
Life in the Peloton is proudly brought to you by MAAP We're nearing the end of the Giro d'Italia, and it's been a crazy race so far. Jonas Vingegaard's dominating the GC, the sprint stages have been hotly contested by Magnier, Groenewegen, and Milan, and UAE are mopping up stage wins left, right, and centre. With just a few days left of the first Grandy of 2026, it's time for this month's Race Communiqué! That's right, guys, Tom Southam, Luke Durbridge, and I are sitting down for a good old yarn about what's been happening over in Italy for the last few weeks before it all reaches a crescendo this weekend. Whilst it's pretty nailed on that Vingegaard will take home the pink jersey and, with it, a place in the Grand Tour triple crown hall of fame, there's still a hotly contested fight for the podium spots and - more importantly - the best placed Western Australian, with Hindley, O'Connor, and Storer all sitting pretty in the top 10! I raced the Giro twice in my career, and I have some fond memories from the land of espresso, prosciutto, and pretty chaotic racing. This grand tour is always a fan favourite; less mainstream than the Tour, but not as low-key as the Vuelta. But, as always, Southam disagrees; is the Giro actually boring?! He makes his case, but also takes a look at the Unibet Rose Rocket's strategy in this month's talking tactics. They're all in on winning a sprint stage because, as our old DS Klier says; “You can't dance at two weddings at the same time.” In this month's PeloChat, Durbo takes a look at the concussion protocol, and what needs to be changed to better serve riders. This is a real hot debate in the sport at the moment and - after seeing Adam Yates covered in blood and mud battling back into the bunch before a DNS the following stage with concussion - it's clear that it's coming to a head (...if you'll excuse the pun). We discuss the current protocol, and what could be done better to give riders the support they need. As always, we finish up with a CommuniQuiz, and Southam's up to bat as quiz master with a real tricky Giro special edition. I reckon even Coppi, Pantani, and Nibali would have been caught out with some of these questions, so play along at home and see how you get on! Guys, it's smoking hot over in Europe right now whilst I'm cosying up by the fire at the end of Autumn back home in Melbourne. Seeing the riders sweating away in the mountains is making me feel pretty smug - I don't miss that one bit…but then again, a good excuse to knock the top off a few cold ones. Cheers, Mitch Thanks heaps for listening to this month's Communiqué, brought to you exclusively by TrainingPeaks. Make sure you hop on TrainingPeaks virtual next Tuesday June 2nd at 8pm AEST / 11am GMT+ 1 (BST) / 6am EDT to join Southam and I for a virtual ride. Southam's going pretty well at the moment from what I hear, so I'll have to dive deep into the hurt box to try to get one over on him - why not jump on and give me a virtual draft? 4. THE BIRTH OF THE COUNTERTERRORISM CENTER Guest Liza Mundy: Guest Mundy details the mid-1980s creation of the Counterterrorism Center (CTC), an undesirable, basement-level office that few male officers wanted to staff,. Analysts like Cindy Storer and Barbara Sude began connecting disparate data points, identifying a mysterious Saudi financier named Osama bin Laden. Mundy highlights how these women built the foundation for tracking global jihadists while the agency's "James Bonds" remained focused on the Soviet Union,. Despite their growing expertise, these female analysts often struggled to have their voices heard or findings published within the agency's rigid, male-dominated hierarchy. (5)1956 Hungary
This sermon explores the contrast between human power, which often leads to brokenness and death, and the resurrection power of Jesus, which brings true life and transformation. Drawing from Ephesians, it emphasizes that this power is not merely something to believe in, but something believers are meant to experience daily through the Holy Spirit. Rather than changing external circumstances, the resurrection power works internally—renewing the heart, reshaping desires, and making believers more like Christ. Ultimately, it highlights that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is a powerful expression of God's love, actively transforming lives and restoring people into who they were created to be.

In this episode of the Dover Download podcast, Deputy City Manager Christopher Parker chats with Community Services Director John Storer and Recreation Director Kevin Hebert to wrap up the podcast's look at the FY27 municipal operating budget.Storer opens by walking Parker through the complexity of building Community Services' proposed $38 million budget, the largest departmental budget outside the School Board. He explains that more than half of that figure covers water and sewer enterprise funds, with the general fund portion including streets, snow plowing, facilities, and grounds. Because so many costs are driven by outside forces — electricity, chemicals, road salt, and fuel — Storer describes budgeting as a 365-day process of tracking trends and responding to market conditions. He highlights two notable swings in the wastewater budget: a $140,000 savings from improved biosolids disposal options as the industry adapts to PFAS concerns, offset by a $120,000 increase in curbside recycling tipping fees due to weak demand for recyclable materials. Storer also previews the city's transition from the bag-and-tag pay-as-you-throw program to automated curbside collection, set for July 1, 2027, which is expected to generate roughly $80,000 in first-year savings.Hebert then discusses Recreation's FY27 priorities, including the expansion of Nebi Park, a new pilot volleyball program that nearly sold out immediately, and upgrades to the Jenny Thompson and Indoor pools. He notes that a proposed pool maintenance specialist position did not make the final budget but remains a priority for future years. In This Week in Dover History, we look back at Dover's transition from a town to a city in 1856, when Andrew Pierce, a 70-year-old businessman and longtime civic leader, became Dover's first mayor, accepting the city's official seal and records from the outgoing Board of Selectmen. The segment covers how the new city charter enabled Dover to establish a municipal fire department, improve its waterworks and public schools, and replace a fragmented system of 12 separate school districts with unified city governance.

Developing future leaders isn't just about filling roles—it's about shaping people. The question is: how do you identify high-potentials on your team, and once you do, how do you nurture them so they grow instead of fizzle out? Chris Storer.Over the years, I have been fairly successful at guessing the email addresses of some folks. I wanted to interview Christopher Storer, creator of The Bear television series. So, I used my email magic, and guess what.... I got a different Christopher Storer! Confusion was had; fun ensued. Chris and I thought it would be a fun twist to go forward with the interview anyway. This episode is with Chris Storer, "just a regular guy, living in a no name town in Kentucky". In this episode, we discuss how he became a computer guru at an early age. Chris discovered his love and knack for computer tech stuff before he was even a teenager. With the encouragement of his brother, Chris decided to write a computer program for a very specific niche of figurine collector, and then he and his mother traveled the country selling this program to these collectors. Next, Chris and I talk a little bit about The Bear television series, and some of the fun that has come about due to the mistaken identity of it all. Alas, I am not the first to confuse them! Then we get into the importance of a work / life balance, and how the passion that he followed when he was 12, manifested into a lifelong career in tech. From steel factories to book warehouses; Chris has made a wonderful living and fulfilling life stemming from this early computer interest. Lastly, we discuss Chris' brother-in-law (comedian Josh Sneed) who convinced Chris to do the interview as himself, the next time someone reached out. I and a lot of fun speaking with Chris, he has a great sense of humor and an easy-going storytelling style. Thanks again, Chris.

This sermon unpacks Jesus' parable of the wedding feast, showing that God's kingdom is like a banquet where all are invited to share in fellowship with Him. While many reject His generous invitation, often choosing other priorities, God continues to extend His call to all people—both “good and bad.” Yet, entry into the kingdom is not on our own terms but by being clothed in the righteousness of Christ. The message highlights the seriousness of rejecting God's rule, which leads to destruction, and the joy of accepting His call, which leads to life. Ultimately, the sermon reminds us that God patiently invites us to turn to Him, repent, and celebrate in His eternal feast.

#PREVIEW: #CIA: #AFGHANISTAN: From a much longer conversation with author Liza Mundy re her new work, THE SSTERHOOD: The Secret History of Woman at the CIA, highly recommended - this anecdote about how one CIA analyst, Cindy Storer, notes a puzzling pattern in Afghanistan when the young men who have come to fight the Soviets do not go home after the war is won by the Taliban. Therein lies the tale. Much more later. 1920 Afghanistan Army

The Bear is often praised for how accurately it portrays restaurant culture, and for that, you have Courtney Storer to thank. Storer spent years working in the kitchens of famed spots like Verjus and Animal and eventually became the culinary director for the Los Angeles restaurants Jon & Vinny's, where she spent six years growing the business into the iconic institution it is today. So when Storer's brother Christopher decided to create a show set in a restaurant, he knew just who to call. As a culinary producer on the show, Storer stepped in to advise on everything from chopping technique to the terminology used to communicate in the kitchen. But before Storer was leading culinary teams in a variety of environments, she actually began her career working in HR at UPS and Whole Foods. To hear how Storer has pivoted her career time and again, tune in to this week's episode. John Heilemann goes all-in on The Bear — the FX series set in the fictional sandwich shop The Original Beef of Chicagoland that came out of nowhere (Yes, chef) to become the breakout show of the summer (Heard, chef), the source of a jillion Internet memes (Hands!), and a full-blown cultural phenomenon (all day) — with its star, Jeremy Allen White, and creator, Chris Storer. White and Storer discuss the show's surprising runaway success; their passion for and commitment to creating the first scripted series ever to capture the realities of the world of restaurant kitchens accurately and authentically; their many, varied, and unlikely inspirations for The Bear, from The Panic in Needle Park to Terms of Endearment, Taxi, and Rounders; and how the rapturous reception of the show has changed both of their lives almost overnight. White, heretofore best known for his 11 seasons and 10 years playing Lip Gallagher (a gifted kid from a dysfunctional working-class Chicago family) in the signature Showtime series Shameless, reflects on his wariness about taking on the superficially similar character Carmen Berzatto in The Bear, and his approach to the seven-minute, show-stopping soliloquy in the show's finale that could make him a mortal lock for an Emmy Award next year — while Storer teases some elements of Season Two of The Bear that the show's legions of newly minted, hyper-obsessive super-fans (including Heilemann) are sure to find deliciously tantalizing.
