Emma Unson Rotor took leave from her job as a math teacher in the Philippines to study physics at Johns Hopkins University in 1941. Her plans were disrupted when the Imperial Japanese Army invaded and occupied the Philippines. Unable to access her Philippine government scholarship to attend Johns Hopkins, she joined the Ordnance Development Division at the National Bureau of Standards. It was here that she did groundbreaking research on the proximity fuze, the “world's first ‘smart' weapon,” in the words of physicist Frank Belknap Baldwin, who also helped develop the technology. The Naked Gun: From The Files Of The Police Squad Full Reaction Watch Along: / thereelrejects With The Seth Macfarlane & Liam Neeson Naked Gun Reboot Sequel releasing it's time for The Naked Gun Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, & Spoiler Review! Aaron Alexander & Andrew Gordon dive headfirst into the hilariously absurd world of The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988), directed by comedy legend David Zucker and written by the Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker trio (Airplane!, Top Secret!). This slapstick classic stars Leslie Nielsen as the iconic, deadpan Detective Frank Drebin, alongside Priscilla Presley as Jane Spencer, Ricardo Montalbán as the villainous Vincent Ludwig, George Kennedy as Captain Ed Hocken, and O.J. Simpson as unlucky Officer Nordberg. We break down some of the film's most unforgettable gags—like the Queen of England baseball scene, Frank's chaotic press conference, the “safe sex” full-body condom bit, and the hospital “he's going to be all right” line that still kills. From banana peels to bee attacks, malfunctioning microphones to exploding opera singers—this movie is the definition of rapid-fire comedy and visual gags. We talk about the legacy of the Naked Gun franchise, its roots in Police Squad! (the short-lived but beloved TV series), and how this movie helped cement Leslie Nielsen as a comedy icon after years in dramatic roles. Whether you're revisiting this '80s gem or watching it for the first time, join us as we laugh ourselves silly and celebrate one of the most quotable and rewatchable comedies of all time—especially with Liam Neeson set to reboot The Naked Gun soon under Paramount and Seth MacFarlane! Put out a bowl of memberberries because episode #675 of Have You Ever Seen is a fond reminiscence of the greatest parody of disaster thrillers ever made. Airplane is still the crowning achievement of the Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker team who made many other funny farce flicks like Top Secret and The Naked Gun. What Team ZAZ perfected their first time out as directors was to make an uproarious comedy out of a deadly serious situation by casting likable newcomers like Robert Hays and Julie Haggerty, then team them up with old pros who weren't known for comedy...Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves and Leslie Nielsen. They're all phenomenal at playing it straight while delivering the silly dialogue. There's too much of Otto and the zany guy in the tower, but, still, Airplane is 90 minutes of pure gut-bustery. So, Joey, get away from those weird pilots. Instead, get in the Slap Line, commit suicide during boring stories and land that airplane because we're all counting on you, Shirley. The CIA has had numerous projects throughout the years. One of the scariest ones was called “MK-Ultra”, and it involved experimenting on unsuspecting people with LSD, cocaine, electroshock, and many other forms. Point Pleasant, West Virginia was the birthplace of the mythical creature - Mothman. I share some stories that may make you think it's more than stories - they may be fact. An amazing story of survival - Juliane Koepcke was the lone survivor of LANSA Flight 508 that crashed in the Amazon rain forest in December of 1971. Her story is jaw-dropping, especially when you realize she was only 17 at the time that it happened.

We lost one of our legendary screen stars earlier this year, so now we're passing through the gates of VAL-halla to celebrate some of his most notable films. That's right, this is the first in an occasional series of double features focused on the work of none other than the elusive, enigmatic Val Kilmer. To kick things off, Paul, Arlo, and Eric are going back to the very beginning. Kilmer got his big screen start in a Zucker-Abraham-Zucker laff riot, 1984's Top Secret!; with the benefit of hindsight, it's clear that Val wasn't a good fit for the ZAZ machine, and the gang tells us why. Faring much better is Martha Coolidge's 1985 cult college classic Real Genius, which avoids the pitfalls of the era's other slobs v. snobs comedies with real heart and–of course–a terrific lead performance from Kilmer. Where are he (and we) going next? Stay tuned! Plus, Eric sings the praises of synthpop artist Lights' new album A6. On June 6th, 2025, the Wall Street Journal released an article titled The Pentagon Disinformation That Fueled America's UFO Mythology: U.S. military fabricated evidence of alien technology and allowed rumors to fester to cover up real secret-weapons programs. On June 11th, 2025, the New York Post followed that article up with an eerily similar video titled BOMBSHELL: Pentagon created fake UFO evidence, promoted false alien stories.Links:

Dear telefriends! Get ready to transcend this earthly plane, as Paul, Arlo, and Eric encounter a universe of concrete birds, homeo-whores, and techno-techno equipment for the latest Four-Color Flashback. The gang gets high (some of them too high) on Alejandro Jodorowsky and Mœbius' sci-fantasy The Incal, a far-out trip to a new state of being. What starts as a noir riff quickly becomes a galaxy-spanning, head-spinning epic. Topics of discussion include the Lee/Kirby-esque dynamic between Jodo and Mœbius, each page's intricate color design, what an asshole Detective John Difool is, whether or not any of this makes any sense (or if it needs to!), and much more. What if your consciousness could travel beyond your body—into other dimensions, past lives, or even alternate timelines? In this episode, we explore the mind-bending world of the CIA's Gateway Project and the work of Robert Monroe and his Monroe Institute (deep in the Appalachian mountains), where sound frequencies and meditation were used to unlock the mysteries of the universe. Yes, this was a real, government-funded exploration of astral projection, energy manipulation, and multidimensional consciousness. We talk about alternate planes from the “Looosh Farm” to the “Serpent Corridor”, and what the CIA documents say about reality potentially being a hologram. You'll hear accounts of out of body experiences, encountering guardian spirits and being watched by something with glowing red eyes after a Gateway session. Other stories include feeling pulled into planes, sudden awareness of past lives, and profound emotional shifts that last for years. Is it meditation? Is it science? Is it witchcraft? Maybe all three. This one will have you questioning everything — and possibly shopping for recliners to try the Gateway Tapes yourself.
