You’ve Got 5 Options is a talk-show based Radio Program, where we discuss ordinary topics in an extraordinary way. Inspired by the idea that every challenge has 5 solutions, every transformation process has 5 steps and every great interview has 5 key questions, we have chosen FIVE as a common theme…
In this episode, Marta and Signe, interview a beautiful woman, Eesha Samad, who has managed to free herself from an abusive relationship. Eesha entered an arranged, promising marriage when she was just about 17 years old. The relationship quickly turned out to be a real nightmare. After years of depression and a suicide attempt, Eesha has found her strength to free herself from the toxic marriage and start her life from scratch in Denmark. Our Conversation Eesha takes us through the story and the innocent beginning of the relationship. She tells us about the first signs of the abuse and how quickly things start spiralling down. She tells us about her depression and suicide attempt which serves her as a turning point. She then needs to keep on surviving the abuse for 2 years more before she finds the solution to finally escape the marriage. She tells us how she starts her new life in Denmark. We find out what helps her heal from the trauma. In the end, she sends a message to all women who find themselves in an abusive relationship. ———— Eesha’s Story in her own words My name is Eesha. I turned 30 this year. I moved to Denmark 4.5 years ago with the intention to start a new life. Recently I moved to Aarhus for my work. I work as a Regional Manager for UNICEF Denmark. Back in 2016, I took a plane in search of happiness to the happiest country in the world! DENMARK. The day I took a plane to Copenhagen, Denmark where I did not know what the universe will bring to me, I was about to start a new life in a new country where I do not know anyone so the fear of crying alone for the rest of my life was on one side as I won’t have my family, friends or anyone that I know there so I decided to take out all the emotions and grief I had of leaving everything behind. For the first two hours in the flight I cried and cried and cried like a baby, without caring about the crowd and people surrounding me, I was telling myself ‘You can cry as much as you want right now because the moment you leave this plane, no crying, no sadness, you are going to be headstrong and ready to work your ass off for your dreams as this is the only chance you get to make things happen and to create a life for yourself.’ After seven hours there is an announcement that the plane is landing at Copenhagen international airport in 10 minutes. I quickly grab my bag and go to the toilet to fix my face, put on some makeup and get ready to explore a brand new journey of my dreams. Everything was seeming so unpredictable yet so exciting, an end that was unknown but I have always loved and enjoyed the unknown rather than worrying. I still remember that feeling so fresh in my mind when my plane landed at the Copenhagen international airport I felt like a newborn baby it was as if I was given a new life, I was super ready for a brand new life; a life that I will be living on my own terms further away from all restrictions, social and cultural pressure and a life that I’d live only for myself and for all the things that would bring me joy & happiness. On one side it was this massive pressure of starting a completely new life, on the other hand, it’s the grieve of leaving my family, friends and homeland and literally EVERYTHING that had been a huge part of my identity and existence. In this episode, Signe interviews Marta about a topic she’s passionate about; Evolutionary Organizations. Marta brings about the work of Frederic Laloux and his break-through book “Reinventing Organizations” and they discuss how this new paradigm works. Can you really run a business without managers, where people bring their whole selves into the picture and there are no budgets and strategies, but evolutionary purpose? Our Conversation What is wrong with the way we run organizations today? How do the red, amber, orange and green organizations operate? What’s special about evolutionary (teal) organizations? Do they already exist? How does self-management look like in practice? What is wholeness all about? How does evolutionary purpose work? And if you’re not working in a teal organization how can you move forward in your consciousness?- “Braving the Wilderness” Brené Brown ———— Books mentioned in the show: “Reinventing Organizations”- Frederic Laloux “Braving the Wilderness” Brené Brown “Drive” Daniel H. In this episode, Marta and Anna, together with their guest Jørn Jessen, explore a very important question: Can you cure addiction? Jørn shares openly and vulnerably his own experience of going into, through and out of addiction. Jørn explains what are the elements of addiction and how they impact you and your life and tells us what helped him most on his way towards freedom. Our ConversationWe deep-dived into: • How does addiction begin? • What may be the signs of addiction? • What are the elements of alcoholism and how being addicted differs from being a user? • What are the ways to get support on the way out of addiction? • Can you fully cure the addiction? • How can you know if you're completely free from it? About JørnJørn is quite an uncommon person, he is not on social media, he doesn't have his website and he was not much into describing his BIO. He was though happy to let Marta share how she sees him, so here you go...Jørn according to Marta:I will be honest with you, Jørn is one of my favourite humans and a dear friend. The Universe has sent him my way to enrich my journey called life and this I am profoundly grateful for.The way I see it, Jørn is a wise man. An existential or spiritual teacher if you like. What I find most special about him is his ability to convey even the most complex concepts in a relatable and digestible way. I will never forget the way he explained his take on the Purpose of the Universe. No one has ever managed to tell this story the way he did and respond to all my scepticism and questions with this amount of ease and clarity. That is a true gift. When you converse with Jørn, he takes you on a journey. He connects the wisdom of science, philosophy and spirituality in a unique and clear way. He knows how to bring the big and often fluffy topics down to earth and make them relatable to a regular human. And he brings his vulnerability and loving presence along, turning the conversation into a beautiful experience. Despite the fact that Jørn is not a public person (just yet), he is already impacting the lives of many people, among others through being a dedicated Sponsor and facilitator in AA.I believe that it is only a matter of time before Jørn is ready to step even further into his potential and bless even more people with his unique gifts. I am sure happy to see it coming. How to get in contact with Jørn?Jørn's email: jrnjessen@gmail.com

Our Conversation During our conversation we dig into: What is meditation? Why is it a good idea to pause thinking? Are all the thoughts we think our own? What is manifesting all about? In this episode, Marta alongside with a guest co-host Signe, receives two vulnerable testimonies from mothers moving through their child-related traumas. While Anna finally feels ready to open up to the world to reveal the story of baby Gaby’s traumatic birth, Fatema courageously unlocks her heart to share the story of her baby Kyler passing away just a few hours after he was born. Fatema in her humble, graceful and deeply vulnerable way tells us how she manages to move through the unbearable tragedy of losing your own child. About Fatema Fatema is a beautiful and inspiring woman with one of a kind presence. Despite the tragedy she is still moving through, she emanates love and grace. In her every-day life, she’s an artist, working as a Senior Art Director at Lego, married to another quite amazing human, her husband Arun. Our (undescribable) Conversation: Anna, who couldn’t be at the studio personally, in a recording, shares the story of Gabi’s birth and how it has changed her and her life Fatema shares the story of Kyler coming to life and soon after passing away Fatema puts words into the unbearable pain, shock and state that can’t really be described in words Fatema explains how her mind and her body attempt to cope with the trauma Signe shares her beautiful and deeply touching poem Fatema shares how the grief evolves with time and that it is not a linear process Fatema shares some of her fears of baby Kyler being forgotten and how she decides to honour his presence in her life We speak about the father’s grief and how we can sometimes forget that fathers feel the pain just as deeply Signe tells us about a beautiful concept of Kintsugi, which literally means to join with gold; to highlight the cracks instead of hiding them. It can also be an approach for life; a philosophy. In this episode, Marta interviews a very special guest- Rasmus Jensen- who defines his work as being a Soul Guide. While Anna is taking care of baby Gabi, who is ill, Marta is finding out what such an unusual person can do for humans. About Rasmus Rasmus is a grateful, loving and patient person, an ex-golf player and businessman, who has embarked on a journey of becoming a healer. A person with a beautiful heart ready to share unconditional love. Someone who can really help you when you're feeling stuck and can't figure out why. A real Soul Guide. In this episode, Marta and Anna interview a friend of the show, Morten Bonde, following his journey after publishing his book "Dømt blind. Hva' så?" and now the English version "Sentenced to Blindness. Now what?". Morten tells us how he, day by day, keeps on choosing to see the possibilities instead of giving in to hopelessness, despite becoming legally blind. About Morten Morten is an inspiring man, radiating good energy, connecting wisdom and boyish charm in a unique way. It is a true pleasure to speak to him. "In 2002, at age 29, Danish art director Morten Bonde learned he had retinitis pigmentosa, a rare degenerative eye condition that causes visual cells in the retina to die one by one. Today, Bonde, now 47, has a visual field (the area of space you can see at one time) of four degrees. A person with a visual field of 20 degrees or less is considered legally blind." Is it possible to teach oneself to see possibilities rather than limitations? Morten Bonde says yes. Morten Bonde has an eye condition that is slowly making him go blind. In 2016, his vision was so severely reduced that his life couldn’t continue as before. It had been all go with a family and a career at the LEGO Group. Then his whole world collapsed. But when everything was at its bleakest, he experienced a sudden clarity for how to regain zest for life and emerge from the darkness stronger than ever before. He succeeded in returning from hopelessness to regaining a positive and indomitable view of life.SENTENCED TO BLINDNESS – NOW WHAT? by Morten Bonde provides concrete tools and tangible suggestions for how to cope with life crises and challenges. It is a poignant and life-affirming description of how he—in less than a year and with only four degrees of vision—went from depression and stagnation to once again serving as senior art director at the LEGO Group, and how the key to such a transformation lies in our own minds! His story is an inspirational tribute to life and a testament to how we can all activate our inner strength and live the authentic lives we really want". In this episode, Marta and Anna are solving Danny's challenge. Danny is going through a really rough rejection, feeling that it's very difficult to get back on the horse. Marta has prepared 5 ways how to deal and 5 ways how not to deal with rejection. And this is the very first episode with our new technician David Villanueva of SuperMoon Studio. Challenge Description Singing is my passion. My truest, deepest source of fulfilment and way to express myself. It is very difficult to make it in this business and I feel like I have tried it all. I have been going to auditions, I have been singing in cafe’s and bars, I have been organising events myself, I have been working to fund my own single. It has been years of rejection, one after another, with just a few breaths of fresh air. Recently I have become a lead singer in a band and we were doing quite well, I have put all my heart and passion into making this work. I have used my network to get us to play at a concert and when it started to look like we have chance to make it, I was asked to leave the band and someone I considered my very good friend took my place. It feels like a double heartbreak. I feel sad and angry and frustrated and so immensely disappointed. I guess after years of rejections this has been one too many and I feel unable to pick myself up and keep on going. How do I deal with such a profound sense of rejection? 5 WAYS HOW NOT TO DEAL WITH A REJECTION Take it super personally and make it a piece of evidence that there’s something wrong with you Use it to convince yourself that you should never do it again Call every band member and beg them to get you back Plan a nasty revenge Stalk them and follow their journey closely (to feed your misery) HOW TO DEAL WITH A REJECTION in 5 STEPS Acknowledge the emotions Express your emotions Write and burn Write & sing Try another creative form of expression Meet a friend Cry it out Engage in something you’re good at/ enjoy doing To boost your self-confidence To see that you are more than this painful event/ there’s more to life Capture your learnings ensure closure- what does it mean for you? The learnings from a higher perspective Feedback from the band Conversation with someone wise When one door closes/ another door open- be open to seeing the opportunities
Welcome after the summer break! We have some big news! From now and on You've got 5 options is turning into a bi-weekly podcast, because... we are starting a new podcast! Small Business Rising! Find out more here. In today's episode, Marta and Anna are solving Alicia's challenge. Alicia has just come back from her vacation and she's not ready to enter the treadmill, so she's asking: How do I build a life I don't need a vacation from? Challenge description: So… I just came back from vacation and after a couple of weeks I am supposed to be fully recharged and ready to come back to work and “normal life”. Instead, I feel like I just want to lie down in my bed and hide under the blanket. I simply can’t imagine entering the treadmill again. I am really grateful for being able to keep my job through the crisis but the number of requirements, politics and bureaucracy has increased so much, that I completely forgot what I used to like about my job. All the mess also causes me to work longer hours which I simply don’t have because I need to run to pick up my kids and attend to all the commitments around their lives. Just thinking about my everyday life makes me need a vacation. I want the life I don’t need a vacation from, how do I do that? Option 1: Create a vision of the life you wouldn’t need a vacation from You could use one or more of the ways to create a vision... describe your perfect day (in detail from the moment you wake up until you fall asleep) imagine yourself in 5 years: how will you be feeling? who will you be? what will you be doing, what will you have? scripting- write a letter to your future self create a vision board Option 2: Detail review of your current situation & priorities ask yourself a couple of questions... where does it really hurt? where do you need a change right now? Work through your priorities: identify your top priorities, rate each of them on a scale from 1-10 in regards to how do you feel it is going for you? (where 1 is really bad and 10 is great) what is most important to you right now? being a mum? growing your career? personal growth? your relationship? be honest with yourself Option 3: What do you already know and what do you need to find out? sometimes it's difficult to figure out where to start, writing down what we already know is a great start. sometimes, on the other hand, we can be too optimistic and it could serve us to make a good list of all we still need to find out Option 4: The Grand Research (Search your soul & down-to-earth-research) Option 5: Slicing the elephant or Your next best step Artist of the week Song "Still Up" by Sabrina Facebook Instagram Youtube Image credit: Image by Daniel Sampaio Donate if you want (Paypal) from
Today we discuss the COVID-19 vaccine race and its possible dangerous implications. Before you press play, be aware - this program focuses on Coronavirus vaccine only. If you watch the news, you've probably noticed by now that there is an unprecedented push from the Bill Gates Foundation and many government officials to develop the vaccine for Coronavirus as soon as possible. According to their message, we won’t go back to normal until the entire world is not vaccinated against COVID-19 virus. Simultaneously, in the past couple of weeks, several countries, including Denmark, have passed emergency laws to combat the pandemic. Among others, those laws are granting governments the rights to give forced vaccinations to their citizens. Even some of the strongest vaccines proponents are becoming more and more sceptical about the vaccine, due to three main reasons: 1. The fact that the 18-months timeline propagated by the Gates Foundation and many other health and government officials is “unprecedented” and resembles a race; people are worried that this vaccine simply won’t be safe to take 2. The idea that vaccine “is the only solution” and we need to vaccinate “7,8 billion people” - otherwise we will never go back to normal - What about other solutions? 3. The fact that the most promising (so far) contenders in the race for the COVID-19 vaccine (Moderna and Inovio) are trying to develop RNA and DNA vaccine respectively - something that was so far never successfully created. What is your opinion? Can we predict the future? Well, we certainly believe its worth a try, as for the most of today's program Anna, Marta and Dennis are trying to guess how the NEW NORMAL will be like. Today we are solving a challenge from an anonymous listener who feels overwhelmed and confused while trying to find themselves in "the new normal". Listener's Challenge: The whole pandemic situation has been going on for a while now and I am really struggling to find myself in this situation. The information from mainstream media and politics just doesn’t add up and it’s often so contradictory that it just makes no logical sense. I see videos of anyone questioning mainstream strategies disappearing even when the video comes from doctors proposing for the medical community to come together to become better in treating the COVID-19 patients. And it just scares me, how can freedom of speech be violated such a big time and how come no one is doing anything about that? I see friends sharing their concerns about their kids being frightened to go to school because other kids come too close to them when the risk for a child dying from COVID-19 is way lower than from riding a bike or even regular seasonal flu. I feel very confused about what is really going on, I feel overwhelmed, emotionally affected, often depressed and the worst of all is that I don’t feel free to say what I think. How the hell do I find myself in all that mess and thrive? If you're dealing with similar feelings, tune in and listen to an hour of a mindful, sometimes philosophical and yet very practical discussion with Marta (life coach & conscious healer) and Anna (writer and researcher).
Last Friday we've spent a full hour answering questions from our listeners live on air. Surprisingly (not ;)) They were all related to life in times of pandemic.

And believe me, this is not to "throw flowers on you" (that's a french saying "fakely-to-be-kind compliment you") but truly is! now I cannot remember exactly when I posted my challenge (I can see it was in September 2017), but I can tell you that I have mainly used option 2 and 3 (Drama Creation: Make sure Your need for excitement comes from a good place and Forgive and Accept yourself) Option 4 (Finding Balance: Get In Sync With Yourself And Realize Your True Potential): I fully agree with this option, but it is so hard to ignore what others think about you (for example, I had to go on month travelling with work, away from my kids, but I got beaten up so hardly by my mum, that I can’t help feeling guilty about it, also because there is a wisdom in being the mother that society expects you to be right? so my mum is probably true in blaming me, for leaving my kids for a month, even though I tried to come home every two weeks, I managed to celebrate my child’s bday, and invite all the class, during the two days I was back in DK but still, that didn’t help live up to the standard of a good mother...) You mention yourself, that there is some wisdom in stereotypes.. and that's why i still feel bad, about messing up a bit the mom stereotype. I did not, however, stop being myself, and I did more mess since 2017, that I am proud of! because that is who I am, and I loved the option of accepting and embracing who I am. Also, the one that says, that impulsiveness is not the problem, the problem is the outcome, and that we could have reached a bad outcome after a thoroughly thought-through decision. I have bought a house, last year, impulsively!! I asked my husband what he thought, he wasn’t really interested, I asked him to come and look at it, he did not want to waste his time, and I asked him to really consider it as I see it as a good option. he did not want to.. I went there, without talking to any bank (I know.. I know.. not very smart) to look at it.. and I loved it... very very old almost falling apart house.. but I fell in love with it.. and it felt right.. so I bought it on the spot.. signed paper same day and did not say anything to my husband until the deadline for paying off the house almost hit and the banks did not accept to grant me the loan (he asked for divorce, and told me to plead insanity to get away with it, my kids were literally disgusted by the state of the house, when I took them to see it but I was blindly in love with what house, I didn’t allow them to criticize it ) well, it ended up well... (after a lot of drama, and stress) and an expensive loan, we are renovating it :) and I was happy throughout the whole journey! because i listened to myself and acted based on who I truly am. That is who I am, and bein

Today's topic: The Facts and Myths about overpopulation. Emotional Load: High A number of times "Burn in Hell" phrase was used: at least three. This episode went serious and quite dark really fast but it's hard not to get emotional when you talk about "The Cycle of Misery" and XIX-century Irish Potato Famine that island's population from 6,5 to barely 4 million. Tune in to listen to our discussion about Overpopulation and make up your own mind if we (the humanity) really are in serious danger. What is a Demographic Crunch and which countries are currently facing underpopulation? Is population growth correlated with emancipation and education of women? Why do we need to stop "blaming the poor" for overpopulation? How will we survive when the population hits 10 billion? Are you a wizard or a prophet? And are we really running out of resources on our planet? Let us know what you think about it and drop us a message at www.the5options.com!
One of THOSE episodes ahead ;-) Today we are discussing a variety of bizarre topics: Why do people fall for nonsense inspirational and motivational quotes? Is sterilizing yourself to save a planet a good idea (or an idea at all ;)? And are we way too many on this planet and will overpopulation be the end of us?Got hooked up? We started playing together in this constellation about 1,5 years ago and rehearse in Århus once a week. The idea of playing this style of music, that we call "outlaw country", came from the yearning for playing a simpler style of music where there's room to caress the details as well as having a little fun while playing. :) Until now we've only recorded one original song but more are to come. This episode is a special CHALLENGE EPISODE, where we dig deeper into Vega's challenge of figuring out how to feel better in a new country. Vega struggles with adapting to Denmark, (s)he believes that it is difficult to make friends or get a job if you're a foreigner. So how can (s)he make her stay here more pleasurable? Challenge Description: Hi, my challenge is that I'm an international and I find this society quite hostile towards foreign people. As if they were afraid of us, only because they don't know any different than their home culture (most often that's the case). They are beaming with this "silent" racism often. They will not insult you, but I don't see that they treat you equal. See that on the job market, see in personal life. Close to zero to get a Danish friend. Can't stand this situation, yet I'm not planning to leave DK yet. One day will fir sure, but how to make my life more pleasant til that "one day"? Thanks The 5 Options Both Marta and Anna used to feel in a similar way about living in Denmark. For Anna's take on Denmark, it was getting together with her partner Dave who has cracked the code of making friends with Danes, that has helped a lot. While Marta has been figuring it out on her own, all the way from I can't see myself living here to this is my home
This episode is a special CHALLENGE EPISODE, where we dig deeper into the very challenging challenge of decision making. Elena reached out to us with some very big questions related to her life and we've done our best in guiding her on how to make sure that she makes the best possible decision for her! Challenge Description: Hello girls, I have been in Denmark for almost 5 years, and now, finishing my bachelor, I need to think what to do further. It’s been a quite rough and thoughtful period. So, the challenge I have is that I don’t know if I want to stay in Denmark, move back home, to Romania, or try another country. Also, I would like to continue my education with a master degree, but it is difficult to get into one, here in Denmark, because I am lacking some courses. And therefore, I don’t know if I should keep fighting to get into a master, here or somewhere else, or if I should just look for a job and hope that I find one. Let me know what you think, this would be interesting. Have a great day! The 5 Options Marta has shared that she's a Recovering Decision Making Struggler and she shares the 5 pearls of wisdom that have helped her in making decisions: Wisdom 1: Ultimately there IS no wrong decision (though definitely a decision can FEEL wrong) Wisdom 2: Chances are that you already know the answer, you just need to get quiet enough to be able to hear it Wisdom 3: Manage your mind before your mind manages you (your mind is not always the best advisor as it can be steered by fears and doubts) Wisdom 4: Your body can't lie to you (feel into your decision) I find two ways really interesting for practising feeling into what is the right choice for me right now. One is expanding vs contracting https://www.marieforleo.com/2017/02/decision-making/ The other one is muscle testing. https://blog.mindvalley.com/muscle-testing/?utm_source=google Wisdom 5: Listen to wise people yet listen to yourself even more Here is the full Recovering Decision-Making Struggler's Guide on Making the Right and Wrong decisions Artist of the week Louise Dal - Fundament ------------- INTRO and jingles for the show produced by Supermoon Music Recording Studio Did You Enjoy The Episode? Welcome to the Season 5 premiere where a lot has happened! We kickstart the episode with solving Brandon's challenge who is struggling with finding a job in Denmark that would fit his skills and education. Gretee Eluri, our Danish job market expert, gives Brandon couple of tips but in a last-minute twist of events, we find out that he just got hired - so hopefully, he'll get back to us and let us know what really worked in his particular case! Afterwards, we interview a local Danish musician Joakim Lykke who has released his debut single "Born Naked" in November 2019 and is currently on a tour, giving concerts in... people's leaving rooms! If you are interested in having Joakim over, check out the notes below - he still has some dates left and his concerts are free of charge! We continue the show with revisiting psychic predictions that we've discussed at the beginning of 2019 (Ep 103: Why humans keep on predicting future if they are so often wrong: Predictions for 2019) and try to see how many of them came true. It turns out that the weirdest one actually happens - penguins have indeed invaded the cities and there was a sex scandal in Royal Family! - points to Nicky, the celebrity psychic! Last but not least, we talk about LinkedIn Local Aarhus, that Anna has finally attended (Marta is a regular ;)). It turns out that most people have chosen the same goals for 2020 and we wonder why is that. Tune in and listen to the brand new season opening! If you want to let us know what you think, remember to visit https://the5options.com and drop us a message! ------------- Song of the week: "Born Naked" by Joakim Lykke Joakim Lykke is a wild but also brittle and fragile, 41-year-old with lots of musical experience. He sees himself as a performer, frontman and singer - and has more than 300 live gigs behind him - with all the insight and experience it provides. He sings - but also plays the guitar and writes his own songs. The influences are bands like Counting Crows, +LIVE+, Matchbox Twenty, R.E.M and Kashmir, all of whom, to some extent, are present in Joakim's songwriting. In November 2019 Joakim has released the first single “Born Naked” from his upcoming debut album. He is currently playing his #WinterTour2020, which consists of 15 booked “stuekoncerter” where he performs intimate solo-concerts in peoples living rooms. He is planning to do 15 shows from January 1st. thru March 30th - and I still have open dates for people to book. Talking about happiness in Denmark is like stepping into a minefield. Year after year Denmark “is wining” a spot in the top three happiest countries in the world, and yet, according to statistics, the country is evaluated by expats as one of the harders to settle in. How can that be? Where does this discrepancy originate from? And how can you be unhappiest in the happiest country in the world? Join us for this exciting program, where together with Anatoli Cantir, an expert on Danish culture, we try to solve this puzzling paradox. ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Interview with Niclas Knudsen from Kalaha! In today’s episode, yet another dear friend of You’ve Got Options has shared his music with us; Antony Ryan, as a part of the Duo ISAN, has featured a single from their brand new album, released exactly the same day as our show! Apart from that, we dug into annoying colleagues and other people, mirroring and top ten most annoying things in life! In This Episode We Had: ARTIST OF THE WEEK: ISAN CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK: I have a colleague that I find really annoying. She’s usually very nice to people, but then she talks behind their back. Recently I was told she’s been gossiping about me, but then she’s super nice and sweet when we talk. Also, she likes to feed herself off somebody’s misery, she’ll literally put someone down in front of other colleges and management, to make herself look good. Marta’s 5 Steps to Deal with an Annoying Co-worker: Distance yourself and don’t take it personally Take responsibility for your emotions Step into your colleague's shoes Look for lessons learned Resolve the conflict internally or with the colleague BULLSHIT OF THE WEEK: If someone is really annoying and they are not open to dialogue, there is nothing you can do to change it. WISDOM OF THE WEEK: “When we want to look at ourselves, we have to use a mirror to gain a reflection of self in order to see our outer image from a perspective we wouldn’t be able to see if a mirror wasn’t available to us. Sometimes when we look in the mirror, we critique our appearance because our reflection offers us the opportunity to change what we see, if we deem that necessary. But how can we view ourselves beyond a physical level? How can we see inside ourselves? What mirror reflects the part of us that highlights on our triggers/reactions, our patterns, our yearnings, our unhealed wounds, our unconscious thoughts, or our deepest beliefs so we're more aware of what needs to be changed within ourselves?” https://growthofalotusflower.com/growth-of-a-lotus-flower-blog/spiritual-mirrors “People whose personalities and actions tend to push our buttons the most are generally our greatest teachers. These individuals serve as our mirrors and teach us what needs to be revealed about ourselves. Seeing what we don't like in others helps us look deeper inside ourselves for similar traits and challenges that need healing, balancing, or changing”. https://www.learnreligions.com/spiritual-mirroring-1732059 FROM THE LEFT WEEK: The Ten Most Annoying Things in Life https://www.thetoptens.com/most-annoying-things/ ——————- INTRO and jingles for the show produced by Supermoon Music Recording Studio About The Artist Of The Week:
In today’s episode, a dear friend of You’ve Got Options, Signe Bjerre, couldn’t make it to the show in the last minute, but we still managed to feel her presence as she sang her beautiful version of Sweater Weather. We’ve also deep-dived into creativity, what could block it and how to unlock it! Oh, and of course we looked into the ageless question, do you need to suffer to be an artist? In This Episode we had: ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Signe Bjerre CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK: I feel blocked when it comes to creativity, A person could be compared to a faucet and creativity to water; how easily and naturally can the water flow through the faucet... Right now it feels like there are just some drops leaking from the faucet every now and again and I feel the longing to open the faucet fully and let the water flow. But I feel blocked and I don't know how to do that. There are also so many different things I could do, how do I choose the right one? How do I unblock my creativity? Marta’s 5 Creativity Blocks to be lifted to unlock the creativity: Mental Blocks Emotional Blocks Physical Blocks Relationship Blocks Clarity and Overwhelm Blocks BULLSHIT OF THE WEEK: You have to suffer to be a real artist WISDOM OF THE WEEK: “Every child is an artist, the problem is staying an artist when you grow up.” – Pablo Picasso FROM THE LEFT WEEK: Throwback to Marta’s and Anna’s creativity challenges from the Episode 28 ——————- INTRO and jingles for the show produced by Supermoon Music Recording Studio
In today’s episode, we’re shedding a light on a type of emotional abuse that - while being quite common - is still difficult to recognize: THE GASLIGHTING. Gaslighting - colloquially called “narcissist favourite manipulation tool” - is a form of psychological manipulation in which a person seeks to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or in members of a targeted group, making them question their own memory, perception, and sanity*. So if you have ever heard from your partner or a family member that you are oversensitive, over-reacting or “it’s you who have a problem”, you definitely need to tune in for this one! *Wikipedia, In This Episode we had: ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Joe Wilkes CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK: I have a big challenge with my childhood friend. We’ve been friends forever and that friendship means a lot to me. However, every time I come out of a meeting with my friend, I feel exhausted and bad about myself. Every time I try to talk to her about my feelings, I end up feeling sorry for her and as if I was the one who did something wrong. She doesn’t seem to ever see herself doing something wrong, but she sees me doing everything wrong. I often feel as if I am the crazy one. When I think about how bad I feel, I just want to end that relationship, but we have been friends for more than 20 years, so I want to give it one more chance. Is there something I can do? Marta’s 5 steps to solve the challenge: Distance yourself from your friend- stop taking what she says personally Assume that there’s a reason for her “bad behaviour” Take really good care of your own emotions Set very clear boundaries Decide if you still want to be friends- weigh out the good vs the bad) BULLSHIT OF THE WEEK: Energy Vampires: What are they and are they real? This episode might have started funny, but the topics we’ve discussed are definitely not a laughing matter. Join us and our friend of the show Judy Wanijku Jøregensen (aka our Queen of Vulnerability) and listen to a very important discussion about postpartum depression: How to recognize it? What to do if you have it? Where to go for help? And can men suffer from it as well (the answer may surprise you!)? In This Episode we had: ARTIST OF THE WEEK: The Kimberleys CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK: “My Journey with Postpartum Depression” by Judy Wanijku Jørgensen (visit Judy’s website and read her stories here) Marta’s 5 steps to start dealing with postpartum depression Inform your doctor/ nurse Forgive yourself Take care of your emotions Organize as much support as possible Make sure your partner/ close family & friends are educated BULLSHIT OF THE WEEK: Can men truly suffer from postpartum depression? From “The weather” by Aubrey Hirsch (read the full article on Medium) The depression is a flu that will not abet. Most mornings, D drags himself into the living room on all fours. He lies face-down on the interlocking foam floor tiles, his upturned arms at his sides. The baby crawls over him, tugging his hair, drooling on his t-shirts. He doesn’t move. He complains of headaches, nausea. He has nightmares. He’s cold all the time. No, he’s hot all the time. He never sings anymore when he moves through the house. Sometimes when he walks, I swear I can hear it, the depression. It’s a liquid sound. I can hear the cortisol sloshing around in his veins. I can hear the adrenaline drip-drip-dripping down the twisted cord of his spine. To name it, I have since learned, is fully half the battle. So I will name it here: D suffered from postpartum depression. I will name it here because we didn’t name it then, not in those tender months after our first baby was born. We knew there was a problem — a big, hulking bear of a problem — but we didn’t call it postpartum depression. We called it up all night and not enough resources. We called it fussy baby and reflux is brutal. We called it stress and bad sleeper and babies are hard even when they’re easy. We said we were tired. We said we hadn’t lined up enough help. We said we weren’t good at co-parenting a newborn. These things were true, but there was something else, too In hindsight, we should have seen it right away. By the time my son was two weeks old, I’d dutifully filled out the postpartum depression screening form no less than six times. In the last week, how often had I felt happy? All the time? Most of the time? Not very often? Never? Had I been able to laugh and see the funny side of life? Had things been getting on top of me? Had I been sleeping? Had I been crying? Have I been looking forward to things with regularity? Not once was my husband asked these questions. -----------------
