We explore why health is shaped by patterns and trends rather than isolated numbers and how markers like the Omega-3 index, hs-CRP, cortisol, and the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio reveal what is happening beneath the surface.  We also discuss oral health as an early inflammation signal, the connection between movement and longevity, and the small daily habits that strengthen resilience. What's Discussed: (00:00) Why your labs look “normal” even when your body doesn't (04:18) The biomarkers that quietly predict resilience or burnout (09:52) What Omega-3, hs-CRP, and NLR reveal about hidden stress (15:10) How your gums expose inflammation before symptoms begin (21:44) The link between movement, recovery, and long-term vitality (28:30) What natural movement teaches us about microbiome health (36:12) How overtraining disrupts hormones and drains energy (42:58) When tools and medications support longevity goals (51:05) How to build a physiology that ages slowly and feels grounded Thank You to Our Sponsors: IM8: I'm always searching for wellness that's simple, effective, and rooted in science. We have seen an extraordinary change in attitudes towards gay and lesbian people over the last half century in the West. Within living memory, homosexuality was criminalised. Now, same-sex couples can get married and share custody of children. This is nothing short of a moral revolution. Plenty of progressives think, not only that this change was inevitable, but also that further liberalisation is inevitable. My guests today are not so sure. They note that, for the first time in a long time, younger people on average are less accepting of homosexuality than are slightly older people. Perhaps this is a result of immigration patterns. Perhaps it's a result of strategic errors made by activists. I'm joined by three people who all agree that something has gone wrong, although they disagree – subtly – on exactly how and why. Ronan McCrea is professor of constitutional and European law at University College London and the author of 'The End of the Gay Rights Revolution: How Hubris and Overreach Threaten Gay Freedom.' Matthew Vines the the Founder and Executive Director of The Reformation Project and the author of 'God and the Gay Christian: The Biblical Case in Support of Same-Sex Relationships.'And Julie Bindel is a journalist, broadcaster, author, and the co-founder and co-director of The Lesbian Project. All of these guests share a concern that the wins of the gay rights movement are very fragile. There is a very real possibility that we will look back on the early twenty-first century as an historical blip – a brief moment of victory that was squandered. We ask how that fate might be avoided. The last full week of work in 2025 comes to an end today! We'll be around next Monday through Wednesday, but we'll both be off on Christmas & the day after. Same thing the following week for New Year's. In the news this morning, an absolute tragedy involving NASCAR Champion Greg Biffle & his family as they all died in a plane crash yesterday along with three others. Also in the news, the Brown University shooter has been found dead in NH, Wisconsin judge Hannah Dugan was found guilty of obstruction. And in more positive news…the $1.5 Billion Powerball drawing is tomorrow! To talk a bit more about the Greg Biffle disaster, we got Doc on the phone just after 8am, thanks to County Materials in Holmen. Elsewhere in sports, Week 16 in the NFL kicked off last night with a thrilling win in overtime for the Seahawks, the Bucks lost to the Raptors last night, the Badger volleyball team's run to a championship came to an end at the hands of Kentucky last night, and the Badger men's basketball team takes on Villanova tonight in Milwaukee. We also talked about the Bowl Game schedule and the entertainment at February's NBA All-Star weekend. Plus, more details about the firing of Ohio University's coach, and the details on next year's "Patriot Games". We let you know what's on TV and in theaters this weekend, and if you're planning on traveling for the holidays…here's some solid advice from the TSA. Discussed some of the worst gifts to get during the holidays. Had a story about a grandmother in Virginia who's trying to track down a woman who performed life-saving CPR on her back in November after she suffered a heart attack while in a park. And God bless strippers! They do the Lord's work! And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy on the run from the cops who hid in a nativity scene, a trucker who found a bunch of cocaine in his truck, a grocery store in Montreal that was robbed by a bunch of people dressed as Santas & elves, a baby Jesus statue from a town's nativity scene was stolen & then returned, and a former trooper in Missouri admitted trying to find nude pics on the phones of women he'd pull over.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Incredible, Edible… Pea? How Meala is Using Biotech to Render Eggs Obsolete

If you've ever checked the ingredients on a baked good, you know how ubiquitous eggs are. They bind, they lift, they emulsify, they hold moisture — they're simply the structural engineers of cookies, cakes, and muffins everywhere. But they're also volatile: prices spike, supply chains break, and for anyone with an egg allergy or who's avoiding eggs for animal welfare or environmental reasons, eggs aren't exactly a welcome ingredient to find on the ingredient deck.  Enter Hadar Ekhoiz Razmovich, CEO and co-founder of Meala FoodTech, an Israeli startup that's figured out how to make peas do what eggs and hydrocolloids do, and has consequently raised several million dollars in venture capital so far. Meala's breakthrough lies in taking simple pea protein and using advanced biotechnology to unlock its hidden abilities — creating a single-ingredient powder that they say can whip, bind, and gel just like an egg in baked goods and alternative meat. No multi-ingredient formulations, no methylcellulose, no animal inputs — just plants doing some biochemical magic.  In this episode, Hadar shares how her background in R&D led her to tackle one of food science's toughest challenges: replacing eggs and hydrocolloids without sacrificing texture, taste, or cost. We talk about how Meala's technology works, what it takes to convince industrial bakeries to swap eggs for peas, and why she believes clean-label ingredients like this are the future of food.  Hadar is not just rethinking what we eat, she and her team are rebuilding the food system from scratch, one cookie, cake, and croissant at a time.  Discussed in this episode  Meals is backed by The Kitchen Food Tech Hub, DSM's venture arm, Milk & Honey Ventures, Lasenor, and EIT.  Our past episode with Milk & Honey Ventures' Beni Nofech.  More on Meala's egg replacer, GroundBaker, is here.  You can see two pending patent applications of Meala's here and here.    Get to know Hadar Ekhoiz Razmovich  Hadar Ekhoiz Razmovich brings over 12 years of leadership experience in the global food industry, with a strong focus on driving innovation and R&D across traditional food sectors. Throughout her career, she has led complex, multidisciplinary projects from early concept development to full commercial launch, consistently bridging technological capabilities with real market needs.  In 2021, she founded Meala FoodTech with a mission to transform the food industry. Under her leadership, Meala is pioneering clean-label functional protein that deliver superior texture, bite, and mouthfeel—without compromise and without undesirable additives. Her work empowers food manufacturers to create simpler, more natural, and better-tasting products, setting a new benchmark for next-generation of food.  Hadar is widely recognized for her strategic vision, deep industry insight, and ability to translate scientific innovation into scalable commercial solutions.

They've done the usual things – they've tried the apps, they've tried going to church, they've asked their friends to set them up. These strategies aren't futile – we all know plenty of people who met their spouses in this way – but they're not a guarantee, either. If we've learnt anything from the social experiment of the sexual revolution, it's that matchmaking is a difficult coordination problem. Earlier this year, I interviewed Christiana Maxion, a professional matchmaker who takes a very intuitive approach to her work. Today, I'm joined by someone who comes at the problem in a very different way. Geoffrey Miller is an evolutionary psychologist, an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of New Mexico, and the author of books including 'The Mating Mind' (2001) and 'Mating Intelligence' (2008). He's also the Chief Science Advisor to a dating platform that claims to be able to match people based on A.I. analysis of reams of data. Things like IQ tests, personality tests, and demographic factors like age and socioeconomic status. Geoffrey believes that this non-intuitive approach to matchmaking is the way to bring happy couples together. Today we speak about the science, and also the issue of expectations. What is it reasonable to want in a spouse? How can single people set themselves up to win in the marriage market? And what role should we give to other people – parents or siblings, for instance – in the process of matchmaking? Discussed in the show:My interview with Christiana Maxion.Keeper matchmaking Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
