Hacemos monográficos de coches muy especiales y generalmente míticos como el BMW M3 o el Honda NSX por citar solo dos casos. Otro formato es el de “coches incomprendidos” que arrancamos con mi querido y siempre marginado Fiat Multipla. Pero hay coches que ni son míticos ni son incomprendidos: Simplemente son desconocidos y muchos de ellos no se lo merecen, y este es el caso del Saab Sonett, la única propuesta de modelo coupé que hizo Saab a lo largo de su historia. Ya hicimos un vídeo sobre la historia de Saab titulado “¿Qué fue de Saab? De los aviones, a los coches y a la ruina”. Nacido para la competición. En 1950 un tal Rolf Mellde decidió hacer un coche de carreras. Era nada menos un desarrollador de motores Saab y junto a otros ingenieros de nombre impronunciable: Lars Olov Olsson, Olle Lindkvist y Gotta Svensson. Estos cuatro suecos diseñaron un prototipo de roadster de dos asientos en un granero en Åsaka, cerca de la planta principal de Saab. El Saab Sonett, también llamado Super Sport se presentó en el Salón del automóvil de Estocolmo de 1956. Por supuesto con motor de 2 tiempos, tres cilindros, 748 cm3 y cerca de 60 CV. Lo más notable era el chasis, prácticamente caja de aluminio de 70 kilogramos y la aerodinámica carrocería de fibra de vidrio, como no, basada en conceptos de diseño de aeronaves y que permitía una velocidad máxima de 190 km/h. Se planeó una producción de 2000 unidades para 1957, sin embargo, al final solo se fabricaron seis vehículos Sonett I entre 1955 y principios de 1957. Pero la semilla se había plantado. Sonett II: Producción en serie. Esta segunda versión ya no nace como coche de carreras, sino como una propuesta para hacer un modelo de producción. Björn Karlström, que era diseñador de aviones, pensó en hacer por fin un coupé de Saab y nace el MFI13 . Se produjeron en 1966, 28 unidades y al año siguiente, 230. Y los jefazos pensaron que este coche podría triunfar en el mercado americano, pero desde luego no con el humeante y contaminante motor de dos tiempos. Sonett III: El mejor y el más bonito. Sin demérito de los anteriores, que me gustan mucho, el Sonett III de 1970 me parece el más bonito. De perfil, su línea no es muy armoniosa, con un morro muy largo para una trasera muy corta, pero lejos de ser un inconveniente, para mi este es uno de sus encantos. El diseño original es del italiano Sergio Coggiola, pero este diseño tenía algunos “problemas menores”: Era muy costoso de fabricar y el motor V4 seguí sin caber. Así que Saab encargó al diseñador Gunnar A. Sjögren quién, seguro que lo adivináis, había diseñado aviones, a solucionar estos “pequeños inconvenientes”. En general simplificó la línea y consiguió eliminar el capó abultado por otro más cóncavo y con una rejilla de ventilación “postiza”. Y así fue como entro en producción. Este Sonett era un coche divertido de conducir. He podido probar brevemente uno y la verdad es que esos 65CV, gracias a los menos de 800 kg de peso, cunden mucho. El motor V4 a 60 grados me encanta porque es cierto que tiene quizás mayores vibraciones que un 4 en línea o que un V4 a 90 grados, pero suena bien y sube rápido de vueltas. Por supuesto este Sonett y todos sus antecesores son tracción delantera, una de las señas de identidad de la marca. Pero en un coche tan ligero y tan cortito, apenas 3.8 metros de largo, hacen del coche una delicia en carreteras de curvas. Y un coche distinto y original. ¡Maldita crisis! Pero el Sonett III tuvo una vida muy corta. La crisis del petróleo de 1973 se llevó por delante a muchos modelos y entre ellos al Sonett. Sus ventas fueron decepcionantes, a pesar de que era un magnífico y original deportivo. Se fabricaron 8.368 unidades del Sonett III entre 1970 y el fin de su producción en 1974. Esta corta producción es el motivo de que sea un coche casi desconocido… y muy cotizado. En USA un Sonett II, aún más minoritario que el III, si está en buen estado puede acercarse a os 60.000 €… Conclusión. Podríamos acabar que, con este coche, como con tantos otros, la historia finalmente le ha hecho justicia. Un coche que no se vendió bien en los USA y que fue especialmente apreciado, ahora cuesta un dineral como coche clásico. Algo tendrá el agua cuando la bendicen.

Las elecciones legislativas en Suecia del pasado 11 de septiembre han desatado una tormenta política en el país. La primera ministra Magdalena Andersson admitió la derrota tres días después a pesar de que su partido había sido el más votado, pero la coalición gubernamental perdía la mayoría a causa del avance del partido Demócratas de Suecia que, con el 20,5% de los votos, se convirtió en la segunda fuerza política del país. De este modo, los escaños obtenidos por el bloque conservador suman 176 diputados y alcanzan la mayoría en el Riksdag (el Parlamento sueco). Superan por tres al bloque de izquierda que gobierna hasta este momento. El mapa político sueco está desde hace años muy fragmentado. Hay un total de ocho partidos con representación parlamentaria. En líneas generales, el bloque conservador redujo ligeramente su apoyo y la representación que obtuvo en las elecciones de 2018 con la excepción de Demócratas de Suecia, un partido situado en el extremo derecho del espectro político, que se apuntó once escaños más. El Partido Socialdemócrata también creció, pero en menor medida. Eso fue lo que llevó a Andersson a anunciar su renuncia. Sabe que ha perdido la mayoría con la que gobernaba y que lo más probable es que el bloque de derecha llegue a algún tipo de acuerdo para colocar a uno de sus candidatos como primer ministro. El que más posibilidades tiene es Ulf Kristersson, líder del Partido Moderado, a quien se considera un perfil más aceptable que Jimmie Åkesson, candidato de los Demócratas de Suecia. Åkesson lleva años trabajando para presentar a su partido como una alternativa de Gobierno de derecha convencional. Los Demócratas suecos serían, de cualquier modo, el mayor partido de la coalición. Cuentan con 73 escaños frente a los 68 de los Moderados. Les necesitan para acceder al Gobierno, pero es una incógnita qué papel les reservarán. Eso dependerá de las negociaciones que ya están en marcha. Las elecciones han supuesto un golpe para los socialdemócratas, que son el partido hegemónico en Suecia desde hace décadas. Andersson llevaba menos de un año en el cargo. Tomó posesión en noviembre del año pasado tras la dimisión de Stefan Löfven. Su mandato ha sido muy agitado a causa de la invasión de Ucrania. Hace unos meses y tras consultarlo con el parlamento, solicitó formalmente el ingreso en la OTAN, una decisión histórica ya que Suecia se había mantenido neutral durante toda la guerra fría. El resultado supone además una recompensa para Ulf Kristersson, que rompió la tradición de aislar a los Demócratas suecos estableciendo una alianza con ellos. Hasta ahora todos huían de la extrema derecha, pero Kristersson supo encontrar algunos puntos en común en áreas como la energética o la de seguridad. Esperaba que eso le impulsase en las elecciones, pero no ha sido así. El beneficiado de esa alianza ha sido Åkesson, que puede poner ahora las condiciones que crea oportunas. En el bloque de derecha algunos desconfían del partido de Åkesson, especialmente los liberales, que se han opuesto a su inclusión en el gobierno. Los Demócratas no consideran por ahora imprescindible entrar en el Gobierno siempre y cuando el resto de los partidos del bloque atiendan a una serie de puntos irrenunciables en el programa, en particular los relativos a la inmigración. Tras las últimas elecciones en 2018 fueron necesarios más de cuatro meses formar un nuevo Gobierno. Una negociación larguísima esta vez no sería bien recibida ya que el país lidia con una inflación muy alta, tipos de interés en aumento y una crisis energética que ha disparado los precios de la electricidad. La agenda de un Gobierno de derecha traerá seguramente leyes de inmigración más estrictas, inversiones en energía nuclear e impuestos más bajos. Las finanzas públicas de Suecia, eso sí, están saneadas y brindan cierta seguridad en un panorama político muy incierto. Having survived supporting and unconditionally loving her ex-husband who suffered from addiction, Manang Lily speaks of her experiences being able to sit and learn from the founder of the term Sikolohiyang Pilipino & elder, Virgilio “Ver” Enriquez, up until his last moments of life, at the Philippine Psychology Research and Training House. She mentions also learning from other elders & seed planters for the next generations of decolonization work and conversation including but not limited to Zeus Salazar, Popeng Cover, and Felipe de Leon Jr. Manang Lily's call to action for the generations ahead feels quite urgent at the end of this chapter. She discusses the message relayed from the Kogi indigenous tribe in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains of northern Columbia in South America. How they recruited a news team to document and release a miraculous and perhaps begrudgingly urgent message to the world in 1990. The Kogi warns ALL of us, that WE “Younger Brother” was not listening to the Earth, referencing the sea & respecting them/Earth/beyond “Elder Brother”/geological boundaries. It seems that her hope is for all of us resonating with this chapter to continue building the bridges between the masses in the world who are corrupted, plagued by greed, and dismantle those systems, ideally before it's too late.
