More than 77 per cent of professional contracts in the Premier League and EFL are held by homegrown players. It wasn't always thus. “English clubs were basically funding talent development models in Spain or in Brazil because English talent wasn't seen to be at the same level as players from those countries,” Paul Prescott, the Managing Director of the International Football Group, told this Kitman Labs podcast. That situation persisted until recently and is starting to change in part due to the introduction of the Elite Player Performance Plan [EPPP] in 2012.“We are seeing that some of the decisions that were made maybe 10-12 years ago are beginning to bear fruit,” added Prescott, who was joined by Morten Larsen, the Head of Methodology & Development at Danish Superliga club Arhus, and Stephen Smith, the Founder of Kitman Labs.Aarhus share the Premier League's emphasis on talent development, albeit in different circumstances as Larsen explains [5:30].“Denmark is a small country and the league is a small league,” he says. “So there's only one thing we can do to compete with the other clubs in Europe.”Elsewhere, Smith sets out the differences in approach between leagues and clubs [16:25]; Larsen explains the impact of data on decision-making processes in the Aarhus academy [24:10]; and Prescott ponders whether EPPP was an outcome or a catalyst [36:30].

Shock World Service 089: Back2Bray by EMA 23/10/19 Dublin, Ireland 1. Jorge Reyes & Antonio Zepeda - La Izquierda Del Colibri Emotional Rescue is a reissue label for lost or forgotten tracks. Jorge Reyes and Antonio Zepeda are Mexico's most important experimental artists. This abstract unsettling track starts off the journey nicely. 2. Orson - Garzweiler A beatless drone-scape from an otherwise dubstep-centric powerhouse, Version. 3. Matias Aguayo - Between The Risings Spooky soundscapes. 4. Suba - Wayang 10 Psychedelic, slowed-goa sounds reissued on Vlad Ickovic's Offen Music label 5. Basses Terres feat. Mika Oki- Yōru No Satori Magical track that pulls at the heart strings. To be honest it makes me cry. 6. Great Ghost - Alien Hotel Del Mar The seaside chimes in and I'm home...bliss. Great Ghost is a producer & DJ making ambient and techno for years in the Brooklyn underground. 7. Ondo Fudd - Blue Dot Call Super's The Trilogy Tapes alias. Gorgeously sensual. 8. Lury Lech - Barreras A reissue from CockTail d'Amore Music off the album Música para el fin de los cantos/1990. Lury Lech, a Spanish electronic and digital audio-visual pioneer, makes you float away in this new-age meditative track. 9. Prins Thomas - Bobletekno (DJ Sotofett's New Age Mix) Full Pupp records hands over to Prins Thomas who has the Sottofett bug like us all. Sottofett produces a beautiful ambient rework which really brings you to someplace special. 10. DJ Sports - Passing Melancholic skittering half-step off Yield Records >> "To give in, surrender. To give forth, produce" An adventurous EP from Arhus-boy DJ Sports. 11. Rare Silk - Storm (Arp Duppy Chip Mix) Another Emotional Rescue. Arp's rework of Rare Silks' 1985 (album American Eyes) cult classic strips back the vocals, keeps in the Jazz fire and creates this beautiful moody dub. 12. Mårble - Coco Dub feat. Slavic Ipatov Klammklang - Criminal Russia presents a melting pot of swampy dubstep lurk with some splashy marbled jazz. 14. Lo Kindre - Torment of One Optimo Music release presenting dub sounds from Glasgow based, Luxembourg-born and raised Irishman Daniel Magee. Freaky no-wave electronics. 15. Unknown Mobile - Medicine Man Pacific Rhythm showcases the best of the best for the most part in Canada. This one is from Montréal house artist Unknown Mobile. The superb album titled Daucile Moon is an 8 tracker where Unknown Mobile created a “digital-analog hybrid that sounds as pleasantly worn as a dog-eared novel”. 16. Abby Echiverri - Inquilinism Echiverri is an audio engineer classically trained in violin, flute and piano. This lush EP shows off her talents, and it is only her first! Inquilinism is an ambient electro workout off her Ab Initio EP on The Bunker New York. If you haven't checked out this record you should. 17. Cromby - Retribution (Shanti Celeste Mix) Suprisingly, this is found on the generally straight up Feel my Bicep imprint. This remix traditionally sits at 125bpm. I slowed it right down for the mix to about 96bpm, and it sounds just as good. This episode is extraordinary for many reasons. First of all, my beloved co-hostess, Anna is out enjoying her Maternity Leave, second of all I managed to get an amazing lady: Estefanía Zárate Angarita to co-host with me. Third of all, we got an amazing guest Cathy Perez, who brought her beautiful presence and opened her heart. And last but not least, it was all in the spirit of a fascinating topic of storytelling. In This Episode We Discussed: Why do people tell stories? What is the hi-story and purpose behind storytelling? What are functions of storytelling? What is the modern use of storytelling? A few inspiring stories told by Cathy And many more! What's Special About Cathy? Cathy Perez is not only a natural-born networker and an event organizer but also a woman with a purpose and a worthwhile mission at heart: To connect and to inspire people. Born and raised in the Philippines, with 8-years experience of living in China (where she managed to learn how to order a taxi and make groceries’ shopping… in Chinese!), a couple of years ago, Cathy moved to Denmark for her now-husband. In Scandinavia she has experienced a cultural shock - living all her life in huge cities she has found herself in a small Danish town where she wasn’t initially able to build any connections. When after some time, Cathy and her husband moved to Arhus, she has decided to do something about and kick started Linked-In Local Her spontaneous idea turned into a movement - today Cathy is preparing her seventh Arhus LinkedIn Local. Additionally, being a power woman as she is, Cathy has recently opened a webshop www.merrea.com a brand with heart. Behind merrea are women and men who only want better lives for their children, communities that wanted to survive and thus need our support, our thoughtfulness, our consideration. That is still not enough for Cathy, she's also making sure that start-ups are supported through a new initiative: Time Angels. How To Find Cathy? «A good story changes something inside us, inspires us and gives us trust», sagt die Dänin Gerd Maria May. «The sense of belonging, inspiration, nuances and trust are four important words when we want to change journalism! And that is to help our democracy and society become a better place to be.» Folge direkt herunterladen

It is an informal networking event which encourages people to go from online to offline and just connect with fellow humans. I love using my skills and passion in communication, event planning and networking to organize purposeful events that inspire and bring people together. In The 2nd Episode We Discussed: How did Cathy manage to attract guests from Copenhagen and even from Ireland (!!!) to visit her LinkedIn Local events? Tip 2 for becoming a better networker using LinkedIn Local: Why Knowing Your Value is a key to become an interesting partner for a conversation What “Landing like a butterfly” and “dancing Cha-Cha” has to do with people remembering you for the right reasons? Why it may be better to focus on who you are than on what you do? What “networking games” is Cathy using at her events in order to facilitate a better experience for participants? Tip 3 for becoming a better networker: Why “Being You” is the key to build your network and why pretending someone that you are not, can bury your chances to make a first good impression? Tip 4 for becoming a better networker: Give More than You receive and the power for “being a source” Why being a good listener is as important as being a good talker? How to be assertive and “to say NO” when a Network Vampire tries to sucks out all the knowledge and energy out of you? Tip 5 for becoming a better networker: Build a relationship and why the difference between a good and a “not-so-good” networker is following up with your newly made connections? An

Reporter: Karen Straarup.

Dekmantel Records label member Central is part of the Regelbau crew, which is one of the most exciting collectives in dance music at the moment. As well as putting out many records under his own name and as part of Hi Mount, Arhus based Natals Zaks is a record digger and and DJ that defies expectation. Besides that, he also runs Help Recordings alongside his brother, DJ Sports, and makes everything from breakbeat laced ambiance to roughed up house. Last month he stepped up to Dekmantel Records again with his soothing 'Pillow Peace' EP. Before that, he served up his Political Dance series with us and contributed to Part 3 of our 10th Anniversary series. Versatile and vital, he is a breath of fresh air for the scene, as well as our podcast series. Stretching his legs over the course of 100 minutes including loads of unreleased material, Central slowly sets the scene with summery ambiance made from pillowy synth clouds and melodies that drift by like a wispy cloud. It’s lazy and hazy and eventually evolves into shimmering pads and more cosmic atmospheres before some breezy, firmly rooted classic house glides you along. Perfectly feel good and with a big heart, this is the only mix you need for a hot day.
