In this episode of The 5G Factor, our series that focuses on all things across the 5G ecosystem, we review key 5G ecosystem developments including recent deft moves by top-tier communications service providers (CSPs) such as BT Group and ServiceNow expanding their relation to vastly improve the CX and workforce experience, Vodafone Germany and FlyNex taking to the drone skies, and Altice using the Google Cloud Application Integration architecture to surmount legacy-borne complexity. Our analytical review drilled down on: BT Group ServiceNow Strengthen Relationship to Elevate CX. BT Group and ServiceNow expand their strategic relationship to improve customer and workforce experiences. The multi-year agreement will extend ServiceNow service management capabilities to all BT Group units to drive savings, efficiency, and improved customer experience. BT Group will also use ServiceNow Service Bridge for an automated connection between BT and its customers and plans to pilot ServiceNow's Now Assist for Telecom Service Management (TSM) to power GenAI capabilities for internal and customer-facing teams. We delve into why this deal uplifts BT's AI credentials and validates ServiceNow's market momentum in the CSP space, executing on ServiceNow Chairman and CEO Bill McDermott's vision of embedding intelligence across every workflow to accelerate the digital transformation of key customers such as BT. Vodafone Germany and FlyNex Take to the Drone Skies. Vodafone Germany and data collection company FlyNex have launched DroNet Hub, a comprehensive online platform to help businesses plan and manage commercial drone flights. The new ‘DroNet Connect Stream' tariff comes with a high-speed data volume of 500GB (gigabytes), optionally expandable to 1 TB (terabytes), ensures a consistent transmission of live data from the drone directly to the Hub. Data from the mobile network is also integrated, to help understand the connectivity and population density that lies ahead on a flight path. We examine why the DroNet Hub all-in-one platform, that includes planning, organizing the flight, and automated data collection and reporting, represents an innovative breakthrough in CSP support and delivery of drone services. Altice Enlists Google Clouds Application Integration to Tame Complexity. Altice Group, through the validation process of Altice Labs, is spotlighting that the introduction of Application Integration has proven especially effective in managing the complexity of its business processes and operations consisting of a growing number of legacy components and intricate workflows overseen by an enterprise service bus. Application Integration is Google Cloud's Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) that automates business processes by connecting any application, including home-grown and third-party SaaS, with an intuitive interface that enables the building of intricate flows, data mapping, and the streamlining of operations with pre-built tasks and triggers. We assess how the new architecture manages APIs for Altice systems including CRM, identity management, shopping carts, plus modules supporting the customer journey, billing, and usage charging as well as efficiently interworking with components for operations, OSS/BSS platforms, service quality, and call centers.

This week, we breakdown all the P&L numbers from the Q1 earnings across OTT platforms and streaming vendors. We highlight that while Disney+ and Hulu had an operating income profit of $47M, the rest of Disney's business didn't fare well, with linear TV operating income slumping 22% and linear network revenue across Disney's portfolio fell 8% (excluding ESPN). We discuss why simply cutting costs isn't enough and that Wall Street wants to see growth, which is why Disney's stock was down 10% after earnings. We detail Vimeo's Q1 earnings but, more importantly, debate what the future holds for the company. While Vimeo expects an operating loss of only about $3 million for full year 2024, their projected revenue guidance means revenue would be down 8% to 4% year over year. We review all the infrastructure numbers from Fastly, Cloudflare and AWS, with Fastly breaking out revenue for the first time based on three services and lowering full year guidance, sending their stock down 27%. We also detail how AWS's growth rate puts it on a $100 billion annual revenue run rate. Also interesting to note was Amazon's CEO saying that AI will drive "tens of billions of dollars" of revenue in the next several years. Finally, we quickly recap news from Paramount, Roku, Altice, Crunchyroll, Fubo and Netskrt.Podcast produced by Security Halt Media

Altice ‘Jenga Tower' Menaces Global Credit Markets (Podcast)Altice distress is ripping through global credit markets and setting some ugly precedents for debt investors. Aidan Cheslin from Bloomberg Intelligence joins Irene Garcia Perez, Eleanor Duncan and James Crombie with Bloomberg News to discuss the ongoing drama. Billionaire owner Patrick Drahi has taken a combative approach to creditors, who are joining forces in an effort to avoid steep losses. Credit rating downgrades and asset price falls at Altice France — which has more than €24 billion ($25.6 billion) in debt — make lenders cautious and undermine the ability of other risky companies to refinance debt. The French telecom is “teetering like a Jenga tower with unsustainable leverage and negative free cash flow,” according to BI's Cheslin.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The end of cheap borrowing is showing its true colors — and for Intrum it's a deep shade of red as the Swedish debt collector faces its own credit crisis.Following our deep dive into Altice last week, 9fin analyst Jennifer Munnings, distressed debt reporter Will Macadam and senior legal consultant Freddie Doust decipher the writing on the wall as Intrum mulls its restructuring options.Their discussion covers the potential for the company to follow Altice's lead on drop-downs, and the various ramifications if a restructuring happens in the Swedish, English or US courts.
What do you get when a builder basket just keeps building, and building and building? You get a whole basketful of lenders caught off-guard by the massive amount of capacity that Altice France has to designate its subsidiaries as unrestricted, that's what.In this week's episode of Cloud 9fin, editor Dan Alderson, senior legal consultants Chris Osbourne and Freddie Doust, and distressed credit analyst Nathan Mitchell walk through the knowns and unknowns of Altice. The discussion covers some of the ways the Altice situation is both familiar and novel, nuances of the French jurisdiction, and the many potential pitfalls that management and investors could face along the path to deleveraging the Altice capital structure.
Altice's debt woes pose a threat to the collateralized loan obligation market, says Gunther Stein, chief investment officer for US performing credit and CLOs at Sound Point Capital Management. “Altice is clearly an issue for Europe, and in particular the European CLO market,” Stein tells Bloomberg News' Carmen Arroyo and James Crombie and Bloomberg Intelligence's Robert Schiffman in the latest Credit Edge podcast. “It's something we all have to be thoughtful around in terms of how we're managing our portfolios,” he said, referring to investors' exposure to borrowers with large capital structures. While the US leveraged finance market is bigger and more diversified than Europe, Altice is also a “relevant” borrower there, Stein adds. He expects higher-for-longer rates to boost leveraged loans and sees value in the technology and cable sectors, as well as health care companies like LifePoint. “There's good value still in the leveraged loan space,” says Stein. In this episode, Sound Point also discusses CLO issuance, pricing and leveraged loan liquidity.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Listen now: https://go.reorg-research.com/reorg-special-podcast-altice-france Altice France's attempt to fix its capital structure through potential discounted buybacks is threatening to spiral out of control. The slide in the group's unsecured bonds on the back of management's likely intentionally bearish investor call galvanized investors into organizing, with two groups forming, raising the potential for creditor-on-creditor violence. In the podcast, we discussed the market reaction after last week's earnings call and Reorg's view on management's guidance and Altice France's valuation. We also explain how asset drop-downs are permitted under the terms of the bonds and the implications for creditors. Finally, we delve into the French restructuring regime and French director duties.

US-style creditor-on-creditor violence spreading to Europe is a worry for loan investors, according to Camille McLeod-Salmon, portfolio manager at Fidelity International. “What we are focused on is this move that's in the US towards creditor-on-creditor violence — and the shift that you've had there — and that translating into Europe,” she said. London-based McLeod-Salmon talks to Bloomberg News' Lisa Lee and James Crombie and Bloomberg Intelligence's Aidan Cheslin in the latest Credit Edge podcast. There are opportunities for investors in the technology and chemical sectors, she adds, predicting high-single-digit returns in European leveraged loans. Also in this episode, BI's Cheslin weighs the outlook for Altice, which is shedding assets in a bid to reduce debt. The company has had to pay up to extend maturities and there's a risk of divesting crown jewels in pursuit of fresh cash, Cheslin says. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Private credit offers double-digit returns with structures that can reduce risk, just as increased competition boosts secondary trading options, says Mark Attanasio, co-founder of Crescent Capital. “We don't see a bubble yet,” he tells Bloomberg News senior reporter Lisa Lee and senior editor James Crombie in this episode of the Credit Edge podcast.
