Welcome dear listener to the latest episode. I'm Paul and I am joined by Sean and Daz. The Reds beat Wolves, and play out an interesting one at Villa. Still top of the Premier League - 8 from Arsenal, 14 from Forest, and 17 from City. We'll review the Wolves and Villa games and then look ahead to City away and Newcastle at home. After that we can take a breath.Part One - how nervous were you about the Wolves game? First half wasn't perfect but 1.76 xG vs Wolves 0.25 (including penalty) Second half felt really challenging but there were just a couple of moments of concern Second gear, reaction to the Everton match? The third goal would have been a sliding doors momentPart Two - Villa away - much better performance than the last 2. xG was 2.44 to 0.73. If we bought into the idea that we need 9 wins in the last 13, this was not a bad result. If we think we need to put pressure on Arsenal, probably not the ideal outcome. Villa scored their big chances, but conceding from the set piece was poor. Looked short of energy at the end of the first and second half Diogo and Darwin should have probably done better (probably??). A certain player is very disappointed. Diaz injured??Part Three - Looking ahead and a word about Mo Salah - in part because we may only have 13 league games left with him: Comparisons with Rooney are interesting - he has 265 goal involvements in 289 PL games, Rooney had 311 in 491 games (92% vs 63% involvement to game ratio). 3 goals behind Aguero, and 1 behind Gordon Hodgson now. 24 goals this season, 15 assists. A word on Diogo - strange game against Wolves, but he has now played 16 games with 12 left - at the start of the season we said if he plays 28 we win the league… City - are they back? Well, maybe in England, the new midfielder Gonzalez can't hurt but Newcastle seemed extremely passive (and that hasn't worked for anyone). Looks like no Stones on Sunday. Real Madrid were not so passive. Selection, predictions Newcastle at home. Please let's have the shit show that showed up in Manchester last Saturday please. Selection, predictions. After City, 7 of our last 11 will be at Anfield. Need for rotation? Could we get our midfielders some help? Endo? Then we'll have a week till the Champions League round of 16 away game against PSG or Benfica. Champions league draw - Brugge, PSG, We will be back next week with a review of City and Newcastle. Thanks to Sean and Daz for joining me, Paul. It's November 15th and the 25th international break is underway. Welcome to the latest edition of our show. I'm Paul and I am joined by Daz, Justin and not physically but spiritually Sean. We'll talk about the quiet efficiency of the Brentford performance, look back at 12 league games played and consider any lessons from Toulouse and Luton: Part One - convincing enough? xG - 1.5 to 1.5 on average. Liverpool's post shot xG was over 3 (under 2 at Luton last week) Brentford - coming off 3 wins, more center halves than a team really needs. Tierney - arrogant performance? Our formation against the height and physicality Fit and firing - VVD, Alisson, and Darwin Stepping up - Joel, Diogo In the spotlight - Endo and Kostas Tsimikas Our home form seems to have gone unnoticed by the wider pundit community. Again it wasn't on TV in the UK. Part Two - To lose in Toulouse and to be held at Luton: Reflections beyond the immediate - oh no, the wheels might be coming off Looked very open in Toulouse, bearing in mind this was probably their game of the season (and maybe a few seasons). VVD not available Luton - just don't think we stepped up the pace at 30, which we did against Brentford. Part Three: Season so far - 12 games 27 points, good return compared to most seasons - 34 points from 12 in 2019-20 season being one outlier. Jurgen says let's look at where we are in March/April. After City we have some very winnable games. City next - haven't won there since 2018, but Darwin and Mo have some good history against them. An imperious VVD and Allison Becker. Formation and prediction? Away form generally - giving up breaks and chances from set pieces. Elsewhere - Spurs regression, Chelsea surprising? Arsenal haven't been exceptional. Man Utd are not there We will be back after the City game. Thanks to Justin, Sean (in spirit) and Daz. Match week 33 was a hectic week of football. With so many matches since our last episodes, this week's review can not cover all the matches that were played. We focus this week on Tottenham and Arsenal, with tangential coverage of City and Chelsea. Sean fills us in on how the men from the white side of North London is fairing against James' update on the red side of North London. After City's victory over Arsenal, the Manchester club is in sole control of the Premier League championship. City can afford to drop three points across the remainder of the season and still outright win the League. Arsenal will need help from others if they hope to overcome their blushes in April. The Chelsea/Arsenal match rounds out our conversation. How does Brad see his club after their sixth straight defeat. Check out this week's episode of Red Card Radio. Guest: Joe Crann – The Star Sheffield Journalist Arsenal could return to the top of the Premier League table if they can pick up a much-needed three points against Chelsea tonight.   The title shifted into Manchester City's hands in Arsenal's last outing, with Mikel Arteta's side losing 4-1 at the Etihad, making it four consecutive games without a win. After City's victory over Fulham on the weekend, Pep Guardiola's side overtook the Gunners into first, but Mikel Arteta's side could move back to the top when they face an out-of-form Chelsea.   The Blues haven't won in their last eight games across all competitions, with Frank Lampard's side 12th in the Premier League table with an extremely tough run of fixtures ahead. Arsenal have won their last three clashes against the Blues in the Premier League, with Gabriel scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win in the last meeting.

Liverpool were brought back down to earth after last weekend's win over Utd, walking away with nothing at Bournemouth after a 1-0 loss that Tottenham capitalised from in the top four race with a comfortable victory over Forest. After City's narrow win over Crystal Palace the pressure was on Arsenal, and they duly delivered with a top performance that was worthy of more then the 3-0 result at Fulham. Utd were made to work for a point from Southampton at Old Trafford after an early red card for Casemiro saw them play the majority with 10 men. Chelsea made it 3 wins in a row at Leicester.

Together with American Songwriter, we had the pleasure of interviewing Ricky Ross of Deacon Blue over Zoom video! DEACON BLUE recently released Riding on the Tide of Love, which features eightbrand new songs, via earMUSIC. The record is a lockdown-recorded companion to the 2020-released City of Love.Deacon Blue have shared the lyric video for the title track. Watch + listen here. The song is a declaration of love in a time of adversity — the one thing that gets us all through difficult times. Though the lyrics might be dark in parts, the signature harmonies of Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh leave us with an upbeat and hopeful message: the tide of love will keep us afloat. "But I’m living / And I’m breathing / And I'm real/And I'm sliding / And I'm clinging /But you're here/And I'm riding on the tide of love!" "After City of Love was finished, I looked through songs which might have been on the album," shares Ross. "I realized too late how perfectly 'Riding on the Tide of Love' would have fit on the record. These things sometimes happen when you're in the middle of a creative project. However, as fate would have it, we realized that this was a better song for the year we've just been through. It's about optimism in the face of a bad series of events. The world keeps turning and love is still our best and only way out."Riding on the Tide of Love springs from a fertile time in the band's career and serves to extend that rich vein of creative form. "This album is a continuation of City of Love, a companion [record] that we recorded piece by piece, going into the studio one-by-one to record our individual parts. But despite being apart, it's brought us all together, and we hope it will bring you together, too. It was made with love by us, for you, to help with the ride. Until we see you again, with love from Deacon Blue."  A limited colored vinyl edition + signed print will be available exclusively on the Deacon Blue Shop here. We want to hear from you!
