On two, and only two, consoles.” And thus, Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2 arrived on PS2 and GameCube, ready to let you spend an unreasonable amount of time unlocking characters and pretending you know what a Fusion Dance is supposed to look like in real life. This episode, we're going Super Saiyan on the whole thing. The game, the manga, the anime, the drama, the capsules, the questionable story mode decisions. All of it. And joining us to power up the conversation is Russell Moran from Kaiju ComiCast, who brings exactly the kind of kaiju-sized enthusiasm this franchise demands. What it delivered was a fighting system so basic that even Yamcha could probably figure it out, paired with enough beam struggles to make your thumbs file for workers' compensation. Joining us for this Saiyan-sized discussion is the one and only Doc Issues from Capes on the Couch, because when you need someone to analyze the psychological implications of repeatedly punching people until they explode into light particles you call a professional. Finally reuniting with the Kais, Goku is informed that his current power will not be enough to stop Baby Vegeta. (Sure enough, even his mighty apprentice Uub struggles against the possessed Saiyan back on the Tuffle Planet.) Instead, Old Kai decides to regrow Goku's tail so that he can reach a whole new level of power. With his tail back and training cut short, Goku returns to the Tuffle Planet to face Baby again. Unfortunately, Goku finds himself against the ropes even with the boost provided by his tail. While staring hopelessly up at Earth, a primal power awakens within Goku. His Golden Great Ape form emerges and begins laying waste to the new Tuffle Planet. Pan reaches out to the monstrous Goku to help him come to his senses, all while Baby schemes to gain that power for himself. Our new season begins with a blast from the past, as we return to the 90s for an in-depth look at Dragon Ball GT, the 64-episode, anime-only extension of Toriyama Akira's classic series. While GT has always proven divisive among Dragon Ball fans, Sean and Jonathan have never made it all the way through – and doing so turns out to be a bit of a challenge, because as much as we both love all things Dragon Ball, this particular entryis not our cup of tea. Despite the regularly fantastic vocal cast, strong animation including character designs from the great Nakatsuru Katsuyoshi, and a promising premise with a miniaturized Son Goku travelling the universe in search of Dragon Balls, the series is a creative mess, with frequently threadbare storytelling, terrible background music, and disappointing action. Additionally, some theories about what sort of new fusions and transformations we may see along the way.  Will we get Super Saiyan 4 in Daima?
