What is Shame? What is health shame vs toxic shame? What if someone is unaware of their feelings, including shame? Can you heal from shame alone? These are the questions we will be asking Dr. Curt Thompson. Many of our neurodiverse relationships have shame- either about the diagnosis, about not having the perfect Christian marriage, or not meeting someone's needs- what do we do about that? How can clergy deal with their own shame of not knowing how to help neurodiverse couples?About our Guest:Psychiatrist, speaker, and author Curt Thompson connects our intrinsic desire to be known with the need to tell truer stories about ourselves — showing us how to form deep relationships, discover meaning, and live integrated, creative lives.--Curt Thompson, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist, author, speaker, and co-host of The Being Known Podcast. He has been in private practice for over 30 years in Falls Church, Virginia, graduated from Wright State University's Boonshoft School of Medicine, and completed his psychiatric residency at Temple University Hospital. He strives to help patients develop flourishing lives by telling their stories more honestly to become more deeply known for creating beauty and goodness in the world. With conviction and humor, he trains clinicians and speaks at workshops, retreats, and conferences, integrating neuroscience, human relationships, and Christian faith. He and his wife, Phyllis, are the parents of two adult children and live in Northern Virginia.--Psychiatrist Curt Thompson, MD, brings together a dialect of interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB) and Christian anthropology to educate and encourage others as they seek to fulfill their intrinsic desire to feel known, valued, and connected. Curt understands that deep, authentic relationships are essential to experiencing a healthier, more purposeful life — but the only way to realize this isto begin telling our stories more truly. His unique insights about how the brain affects and processes relationships help people discover a fresh perspective and practical applications to foster healthy andvibrant lives, allowing them to get unstuck and move toward the next beautiful thing they're being called to make.WEBSITE, PODCAST, and SOCIAL MEDIA****Website www.CurtThompsonMD.comPodcast www.BeingKnownPodcast.comInstagram CurtThompsonMDFacebook CurtThompsonMD@CurtThompsonMD

Russ Johnson is an MC and beatmaker in the DMV. On this special Halloween edition of the pod, Russ stops by the studio to share some original spooky jams to commemorate the holiday and talk all things beats, rhymes, and Halloween. We kick off the show with an exclusive - an original theme for the pod Russ put together from a scratch track I sent him earlier in the year. Coming up as a battle MC from New York, Russ shares his journey and education in beat-making and how it accelerated during the pandemic. Russ's beat style draws on the muddy, stompy, and gritty, while his original rhymes pull from clever wordplay that draws out obscure and comedic pop culture and movie references. Russ and I reminisce on the holiday, what we appreciate about Halloween, and break down those classic 80's horror movies from our childhood. Check out Russ on the mic on Halloween night at Crescendo Studios in Falls Church, VA.

"We think of God's love and God's anger as at odds with one another. That's because we don't understand God's love or God's anger."John Mark challenges our perceptions of God, both the God who is always angry and the God who never gets angry, by showing in the Scriptures how God is both patient and wrathful, and why both are important for our understanding of who God is and what that means for us in our lives.Key Scripture Passages: Exodus 34v6-7, Matthew 21v12-14, James 1v19-20, 5v7-8This podcast and its episodes are paid for by The Circle, our community of monthly givers. The penultimate week of Premier League action is upon us. As all teams make their way to 37 games played, some will have a busier time than others. If City take maximum points over their next two games, they will go into Championship Sunday in control of the destiny of this year's EPL trophy. The Europa League and Conference League positions are up for grabs and four teams are fighting over three places. The final battle is that which every team is desperately trying to avoid at the outset of the year, relegation. As it stands, three teams are fighting to be stuck in one of the last two relegated positions. Burnley, Luton Town, and Nottingham Forest all are trying to grab a hold of seventeenth. Should they fail, at least a year in the Championship is what awaits them. So much to play for in the final two weeks, this is Red Card Radio. After a wild North London Derby, Sean has strong feeling about the match as a whole. Why are Tottenham fans so upset at the result that saw them down three goals inside the first half but clawed back to a respectable 2-3 loss? Does it come down to PGMOL shenanigans again? Check out the lively debate between Sean and James surrounding the NLD. Also in the episode, Brad piles on over a disallowed Chelsea goal and the boys take a quick look at the floundering Liverpool season. Let us know in the comments below what you thought about the NLD. Our guest today is Andrew Zwerneman. Andrew J. Zwerneman serves as President and Master Teacher at Cana Academy. For 40 years, he has taught and consulted in secondary schools that emphasize classic humanities. For 19 years he headed schools — 2 at the public charter school, Tempe Preparatory Academy in Tempe, Arizona, 17 at Trinity School at Meadow View in Falls Church, Virginia. You're going to love this conversation! *** We are pleased to announce that registration for our annual Spring Training Sessions are now open! In fact, one reason why we asked Andrew to be here today is because we hired him as this year's coach. Andrew is going to teach two sessions on history as a classical subject. The first session will help us get away from Marxism and adopt a classical view of history. The second session will offer us a method for teaching history. It's going to be so great!
