The Catechism teaches about the effectiveness of prayer and how to persevere in prayer. Fr. Mike explains that although God already knows what we need before we ask, he wants us to pray, and he extends us dignity by allowing us to pray and ask for what we need. In the process of prayer, we are able to learn the heart of the Father, grow closer to him, and become more like him. The Catechism goes on to state that when it comes to prayer, it is always possible, a vital necessity, and inseparable from the Christian life. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 2738-2745. We look at how Jesus prays in this section of the Catechism. It is revealed how Jesus learned to pray, the frequency of his prayers, and where he prayed. Jesus brought his needs to the Father including his last words and final “loud cry”. Through his example of filial prayer, we are able to pray to the Father as sons and daughters. We can ask him for anything as all of our thoughts, desires, troubles, fears, and needs are already with the Lord. “The Father accepts them and, beyond all hope, answers them by raising his Son.” Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 2598-2606. WATERLINE ARTICLE #2: Meet them where they are, not where you want them to be. Rather than swaying people to be where you want them to be, we have to make it about the other party first. You can do this by focusing on their goals and dreams, learning their pain points that are blocking them from reaching those, and truly meet them where they are. This can be applied across life and business, so settle in and join Scott for this episode to learn more about the importance of meeting people where they are and how you can do so better. CONTEXT ON THIS SERIES In 1917, T.E. Lawrence, who you might know as Lawrence of Arabia overthrew the Ottoman Turks in WWI in modern-day Iraq and Syria, using strategic human connections at the local level. He did so by going into tribal environments and creating a level of trust that unified various tribes around one thing that they could all agree on through storytelling of ‘what could be.' He wanted to help others who followed behind him do the same so he wrote The 27 Articles to share with them. Scott has taken these Lawrencian skills and adapted them to the Rooftop Leadership methodology and in this series will share the 27 Waterline Articles for the Rooftop Leader with you so that you are better equipped to lead through the disengagement, distrust, and distraction brought on by prolonged isolation, low trust, and uncertainty. The Catechism introduces the seven sacraments that Christ offers the Church: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony. The Catechism highlights the fact that the sacraments are “by the Church” because the Church is “Christ's action at work”, and they are “for the Church” because they “manifest and communicate to men…the mystery of communion with the God who is love.” Fr. Mike focuses on the fact that while ministerial priests administer many of the sacraments, their priesthood is at the service of the baptismal priesthood, into which all of the baptized are ordained. Today's readings are from Catechism paragraphs 1113-1121. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. In this episode PT and PJ discuss three explanations held by the Church of what Christ did for us on the cross. From Luther's Catechism: And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. What does this mean? I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary, is my Lord, who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, purchased and won me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil; not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent suffering and death, that I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, just as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity. This is most certainly true.

Terry Reintke unhesitatingly describes some EU lawmakers with anti-European and far-right views as fascists. Her directness stands in sharp contrast to bland circumlocutions more common to Brussels. Now Terry, a German who co-heads the Greens in the European Parliament, wants the chamber to launch an inquiry into whether its extreme right Identity and Democracy Group, or ID Group, adheres to European values. That inquiry, she says, should run in parallel to efforts in Germany to determine whether to ban one of the ID Group's main members, the Alternative for Germany or AfD. Terry made her proposal on Thursday, on the same day Marine Le Pen sought to put some distance between her far-right Rassemblement National and the ID Group. Terry's proposal and Le Pen's jitters come against the backdrop of mass demonstrations in Germany against the AfD. The demonstrations were prompted by a report that AfD members discussed deportations of non-assimilated people and of those with non-German backgrounds in what amounted to a disturbing echo of Nazi-era practices. The EU-level inquiry proposed by Terry would be based on Article 2 of the EU treaty. Any findings leading to restrictions or a ban on the ID Group would need to stand up in court, says Terry, who is widely expected to be a lead candidate in upcoming European elections. Also in this conversation: Terry discusses the basis of her antifascism; her vulnerability as a highly visible lesbian politician; how to manage conflicting priorities between Berlin and Brussels; and the divide with the US Green party over Ukraine.Support the show

Are you ready to crack open the mysteries of the U.S. Constitution? Brace yourself as we journey deep into the intricacies of Article 2, dissecting the roles and responsibilities of the executive branch. We'll illuminate the president's duty to enforce laws, the vice president's pivotal role in certifying votes, and how the 12th Amendment drastically reshaped our electoral landscape. And that's just the tip of the constitutional iceberg. The path to presidency is steeped in stipulations - you've got to be a natural born citizen for starters - and we'll expose what really happens when a president is unseated. It's not all politics and power, we're also tackling the sacred rights we hold as individuals and how the Constitution wraps them in protection. We're confronting the uncomfortable truth of slavery, and the paradox it presents within a document proclaiming equality. The U.S. is sitting on a $30 trillion debt time bomb, but might the budget resolution hold the key to defusing it? Plus, we're questioning the constitutionality of the U.S. Department of Education and its role in K-12 education. As we tie up our study of Article 1, we're setting the stage to explore Article 2 in depth. This is your invitation to a rich conversation about the U.S. Constitution, and how understanding it is crucial to building a better nation. “As you can imagine: a phrase here means one does not know the details of a story, but there's an underlying consensus of what might have occurred. If I were to say ‘the King met with the head of the Villanova family, as you can imagine', you can deduce from the reputation of the Vodacce Prince and the religious friction between Nations that the meeting was not a pleasant one. Mostly, the phrase is used to insinuate more provocative ideas.” -Coco to Mallory Notes from the Narrator We're proudly endorsed by Chaosium Inc!
