Jeff Lindsay and Greg discuss the scholarship on the lost Book of Gad The Seer. Jeff has been studying this story and the book for several years. A Jewish colony in India claims descent from the tribe of MANASSEH—and says they preserved a lost Old Testament book engraved on copper. Could this be the real ‘Words of Gad the Seer'? And, is the Book of Moses the Genesis of the Brass Plates. New scholarship suggests it is. Recent scholarship by Noel B. Reynolds and Jeff Lindsay highlights passages in the Book of Mormon that parallel those in the Book of Moses. Since the Book of Mormon authors are pulling from the Brass Plates, this implies that the Book of Moses may be the Genesis of the Brass Plates. Scripture Notes - https://scripturenotes.com/ Lehi and Nephi were scribes! A Josephite or even Manassite scribal school that wrote in Egyptian existed all the way back to Abraham, was passed down to Joseph of Egypt, and down to Lehi and Nephi, explains Book Of Mormon Scholar Noel B. Reynolds. This scribal school was in the original tradition of the Patriarchs, as opposed to the Judahite school, which "harmonized" various Judahite teachings. The Josephite scribal school produced the Brass Plates and the Book of Mormon, while the Judahite school, which was unfamiliar with the Egyptian language, produced the Old Testament. Joseph of Egypt flourished in Egypt because of his scribal training! Mormon and Moroni were scribal school boys at a very young age. Website - www.cwicmedia.com

Nephi prayed to know if the things his father, Lehi, were telling them were true. When Lehi had the vision of the Tree of Life, Nephi prayed to see it and know what it meant. Laman and Lemuel complained. They did not want to leave Jerusalem. They did not want to go back and get the Brass Plates. The biggest difference in Nephi and Laman and Lemuel was asking God for a witness, to know for himself. We to can pray to know
Nephi prays to know if the things his father has told him are true. He recieves his own witness. God commands and Lehi tells his sons they are to go back to Jerusalem for the Brass Plates. Nephi does not murmur and says "I will go and do the things the Lord commands."
Nephi obeys the Lords commands and after 3 attempts gets the Brass plates "I will go and do the things the Lord commands"
"To the descendants of Joseph, to be kept hidden from the World until the Last Days: By the Power of YHVH, these Plates of Brass shall not perish, neither shall they be dimmed by time; but YHVH Elohim shall preserve these Words to go forth unto all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people from the mouths of those who are of the seed of Joseph; and even as Joseph fed Israel and kept them safe from famine in a strange land, these plates must be preserved that Israel may eat of the Word of God in the famine that shall be found the Last Days." "And after they had given thanks unto the God of Israel, my father Lehi took the records which were engraven upon the plates of brass, and he did search them from the beginning. And he beheld that they did contain the five books of Moses, which gave an account of the creation of the world, and also of Adam and Eve, who was our first parents." -1 Nephi 1:158-160 RAV, 5:10-11 OPV“Thus saith the LORD God; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.” –Ezekiel 37:19 KJVThe 5 Books of Moses is a divinely inspired translation of the plates of brass by David that began March 8, 2018. Being awoken around 2 am, he was given the first few chapters of the Book of Melchizedek. In 2019, David was told to begin translating, among other things, these 5 Books of Moses. Less than a year later, the work was completed. The plates of brass are a part of the “coat of many colors” Jacob gave his son Joseph. These writings of Moses are a part of the stick of Ephraim that is to be put with the stick of Judah. This is why it was written on brass in Egyptian, the language of Joseph of Egypt, because it was not for all of the tribes. The title page reads:“To the descendants of Joseph, to be kept hidden from the World until the Last Days: By the Power of YHVH, these Plates of Brass shall not perish, neither shall they be dimmed by time; but YHVH Elohim shall preserve these Words to go forth unto all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people from the mouths of those who are of the seed of Joseph; and even as Joseph fed Israel and kept them safe from famine in a strange land, these plates must be preserved that Israel may eat of the Word of God in the famine that shall be found the Last Days. “To those charged to keep these records: keep them safe, keep them hidden until Fullness of Times; for in them are the manna to feed Israel, and in them are the coat of many colors preserved unto the seed of our father, Joseph, as given Him by his Father, Jacob; and in Israel is found the straight path to YHVH Elohim. “Israel be blessed, for in YHVH is our salvation found, throughout all time and for all eternity; Amen.”Read the 5 Books of Moses in a free PDF free PDF, buy a paperback or a hardback copy from Lulu, or a paperback on Amazon.Music: “Impact Moderato” by Kevin MacLeodSupport the show

Moroni teaches about Faith in Moroni 7. Faith that brings miracles. A miracle like Jesus being resurrected, or Nephi getting the Brass Plates.
In this episdoe of Perspective Underground Jordan and Marcus focus in on Nephi's quest to obtain the brass plates from Laban and how it reflects on God's character.
Lehi's sons are in Jerusalem, trying to get the brass plates from Laban. Their first try had not worked. But Nephi was not going to give up. And he had an idea for a second try.
Lehi's sons are still in Jerusalem, trying to get the brass plates from Laban. Their first try had not worked. Their second try had not worked. But Nephi still trusted that God would provide a way.
God has commanded Lehi's sons to go back to Jerusalem to get the brass plates.
Sariah waits for her boys to return from getting the Brass Plates. Day after Day she waited and prayed and had faith. As many days passed Sariah was sure something awful had happened to her boys. She began to lose her faith and question whether Lehi was a prophet. She had been obedient and done everything God had asked, even leaving everything but her family behind in Jerusalem and coming to live in the wilderness. Sometimes Gods answers to prayers do not come as soon as we would like, or in a way we would like. When Sariah's sons returned and told her of their experience. Sariah knew God had protected her sons and worked miracles! She did not doubt again.

When people engage the scriptures from a scholarly approach, many lose faith in the scriptures. I asked that question to Colby Townsend […] The post *Reconciling Biblical Scholarship (Part 7 of 7) appeared first on Gospel Tangents.

The first Book of Mormon prophet, Lehi, is commanded to leave Jerusalem with his family. Not long after leaving, the Lord commands Nephi and his brothers to go back to Jerusalem to get the Brass Plates from Laban. It takes a lot of faith, bravery and some smart thinking to do what the Lord asked.

1 Nephi 19 As I read this chapter, I read it through the eyes of a mature Nephi who is reflecting on all that he has done to teach his people to "Remember the Lord Their Redeemer." He has taught them from the Brass Plates teaching them of the prophecies of those prophets who, with him, stand as witnesses of the Lord's coming. Jesus is the Christ! Book of Mormon. 1 Nephi 3: 31-1 Nephi 4 In order to unify his brothers and to motivate them to, one more time, go and get the Brass Plates, Nephi relied on a shared experience in which they all could draw strength from. He referred to Moses and how the Lord delivered the Israelites from Pharoah's army. He reminded them that they knew this to be true and then asked, "Wherefore can ye doubt?" Are we providing our children with "Wherefore can ye doubt" moments? Are we allowing them, recording them, remembering them, expressing gratitude for them, and celebrating them? Are we preserving them so that when our children face the "mighty Labans" in their life that they can remember the might of the Lord and ask themselves "Wherefore can ye doubt?" 1 Nephi 3 & 4 To shrink or to rise? That is the decision that Nephi was faced with when he was asked to do something hard. The Lord commanded the sons of Lehi to return back to Jerusalem and obtain the Brass Plates. But how were they supposed to accomplish their task if the Brass Plates were kept by a mighty man named Laban who had chased them out of his house and taken all of their property. If the Lord asks us to do hard things, shouldn't he give a plan on how to do it? If he doesn't give us a plan, then what exactly does he expect from us? What did Nephi intend for us to understand when he said that "the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them." (1 Nephi 3:7). What is the Lord's role? Go to sisterscriptorians.com to sign up to become a Sister Scriptorian! 1 Nephi 3: 1-4 The Brass plates were not only a record of the Jews consisting of the words of God as spoken by the prophets, but it also contained the genealogy of Lehi. 1 Nephi 3: 1-4 Why would the Lord command Lehi's sons to return back to Jerusalem and obtain the Brass Plates? This was no easy task. It required traveling back through the wilderness, confronting a mighty man whom the Brass Plates belonged to, and then traveling back to the Valley of Lemuel. These plates must have been crucial to the salvation of Lehi and his seed.
