Following up on our C2E2 conversation about things that could be improved by monkeys, robots, or Michael Caine, please enjoy this special rerun of the first time that topic appeared on the Atomic Geeks podcast. With special thanks to Carlin Trammel for the idea and Christian Nielsen for the audio and permission.
You don't put Christian Nielsen, Michael DiGiovanni, Carlin Trammel, Shawn Robare, William Bruce West, Rob Graham, Michael May, Jeeg, and Paxton Holley in a room together and not record a podcast. While at C2E2, the group (minus Jeff Somogyi who sadly was not feeling well that evening) gathered in Christian and DiGio's hotel room to revive the classic Atomic Geeks topic: "Robot, Monkey, Michael Caine." Each person suggests a movie, TV show, event, etc. and discuss what would best improve it: a monkey, a robot, or... well, you'll see.
In 2015, the Nerd Lunch crew met up with most of the Atomic Geeks and assorted members of the Fourth Chair Army at C2E2 in Chicago. Ten years later, it's time to get together again with even more friends. The group this time included Carlin Trammel, William Bruce West, Jeeg, Paxton Holley, Jeff Somogyi, Shawn Robare, Michael May, Rob Graham, Christian Nielsen, and Michael DiGiovanni. In this audio diary, we learn about how the trip came together, check in with the attendees at various points of the weekend, and tease a very special podcast episode that we recorded there and will be Coming Soon.
Inspired by the 2001 sitcom Emeril, Michael, Rob, Carlin Trammel, and Tim Lybarger assign each other similarly unlikely celebrities to build sitcoms around. Get ready for pitches for shows starring Bob Ross, The Cure's Robert Smith, Willie Nelson, and Theresa Caputo so that you can decide... would you watch this show?
Michael and Rob welcome back Carlin Trammel from last week and also John Vanover to nominate and vote on TV themes from dramas or any other genres that didn't fall into one of the previous categories we've covered. It's an especially eclectic hodge podge of musical styles this episode (making it particularly difficult to vote) in our road to determine the greatest TV theme song of all time.
These TV themes Sweet 16s aren't getting any easier. This time, Michael and Rob are joined by Paxton Holley and Carlin Trammel to agonize over, nominate, and vote on our favorite opening themes from action and mystery shows. It may be an impossible mission, but we'll open a bottle of magnum and try to become the greatest American heroes as we reveal the unsolved mystery of the best action/mystery theme ever.
The Return of Jetpack Tiger! In response to our episode on the Cartoons and Kids TV Show Themes Sweet 16, Dashiell and Carlin Trammel critique the decision to include the medium of animation as a separate category that competes with live action genres like sitcoms and action shows. Should animated shows be included with live action shows of similar genres?
Michael and Rob are joined by Carlin Trammel and Michael DiGiovanni to talk about collectible movie tie-in glasses. They discuss various ones they've collected over the years, including recent ones. But the highlight of the episode is when each panelist creates a whole line of four glasses for a movie that never got them. Carlin even created mock-ups of his line, which you can see below.
Carlin Trammel returns to the podcast feed for a special interview with David Heringer, organizer of the Infinity Con entertainment convention. They talk about the history of the show, why events like it are necessary, and the next one coming to Tallahassee, Florida on July 6 and 7.
Since we just talked about On Her Majesty's Secret Service last episode, now seems like a good time to revisit this conversation from Michael's old Sleigh Bell Cinema podcast in which he talks with Carlin Trammel about the movie and how (or if) it functions as a Christmas movie.
Michael and Rob reunite with their old friend Carlin Trammel to talk in a very spoilery way about the recent, third season of Star Trek: Picard. This isn't part of After Lunch's official Star Trek Trek discussions, because those won't get to Picard for a long time. We just couldn't wait that long to talk about the season. And again, lots of spoilers in this episode.
A couple of episodes ago, Michael and Rob talked about JJ Abrams' Mission Impossible III and the TV show Lost came up. Michael mentioned an episode of the old Dragonfly Ripple podcast where Annaliese Trammel shared her thoughts on the first two seasons with her dad, Carlin. It was a wonderful bit of podcast history, but it's not easily available anymore, so we're rerunning it. Please enjoy.
Carlin and Robert Try to Put Right What's Going Wrong with the new Quantum Leap! Theorizing one can get a few things off his chest, Carlin Trammel leaps into the podcast time stream. His only guide on this journey is Robert Zerbe, a fellow observer of the new Quantum Leap TV series airing on NBC. So both podcasters find themselves watching each episode of the new series and extensively making notes on what can be done to put right what is going on and hoping that Scott Bakula will also leap home! Be sure to check out the King Thunder Stickers and other King Thunder merchandise!
Today we're wrapping up Week 2 rerunning discussions of Tangential Christmas movies from the Sleigh Bell Cinema podcast. We're actually not quite done yet, because there's one more on Monday and it's a doozy. But first, Jeeg and Michael talk about the Denis Leary vehicle, The Ref, from 1994. And if you want to hear even more on The Ref on this very feed, check the old Nerd Lunch Extra Helping episode from December 2012 where Jeeg talks about it with Carlin Trammel.
Long before there was ever such a movie as Die Hard, the idea of Tangential Christmas movies was introduced by It's a Wonderful Life. It gets played at Christmastime and has an important Christmas scene, but is it a Christmas movie? In this rerun from Michael's old Sleigh Bell Cinema podcast, he and Carlin Trammel talk about that very question.
Michael and Rob welcome back old friends Carlin Trammel and William Bruce West to discover who the Ultimate Fictional Musician is. Each panelist nominates four bands or solo musicians to face off against each other Sweet 16 tournament-style. There can be only one champion, but the real fun is in the discussion and laughter along the way.
We watched 1979's The Muppet Movie with our pal Carlin Trammel and now we really don't want to put our hand up Kermits butt while being underwater.
A Christmas Carol week continues with this re-run from Michael's former Sleigh Bell Cinema podcast. Michael talks with Carlin Trammel about one of their favorite Christmas Carol adaptations: Clive Donner's TV movie from 1984 starring George C Scott.
Carlin Trammel joins The Irredeemable Shag to chat about Justice League America #38 in which the Despero saga begins and things get deadly serious! Then Stella stops by to discuss Justice League Europe #14 in which the team battles Godzilla!?!! Plus YOUR listener feedback! Have a question or comment? Looking for more great content? Michael and Rob steal a popular Twitter meme with the help of both fresh and familiar voices. Michael's college pal Faith Regn makes her podcast debut alongside our good friend Kay and the Muppetational return of Carlin Trammel! Our sensational, inspirational, celebrational panel creates five new Muppet movies by picking existing non-Muppet films, keeping one or two human actors, and replacing the rest of the cast with Muppets. Tune in for new Muppet capers and mysteries and maybe even some Muppets in space.
(From February 2018)Flash (Ah-Ahhh!) Gordon hit theaters in 1980 to little fanfare, but is most remembered for the awesome soundtrack by rock group, Queen. Outlandish costumes and a wacky performances from cast members like Sam J. Jones, Brian Blessed and Max Von Sydow have made the movie a cult classic among fans of so bad it's good cinema over the years . And despite a comedic return appearance in Seth McFarlane's Ted movies, we still haven't gotten a follow-up film.Only the SequelQuest crew of Adam, Jeff and Jeramy, along with our mighty guest host Carlin Trammel of the Nerd Lunch podcast (http://nerdlunch.net/podcast/) are brave enough to attempt a return to Mongo for an exploration of whether or not, “Gordon's Alive” and where his adventures have taken him. This energetic conversation deals not only in hypothetical plot scenarios, but also the history of Flash Gordon in animation and ideas for fast food tie-in promotions and toys that should have existed in the 80's. Michael May is joined by Carlin Trammel of the Nerd Lunch and Pod James Pod podcasts to talk about that most Christmasy of James Bond movies, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, starring George Lazenby, Diana Rigg, and Telly Savalas.
Hello, sunshine! We hop back to Easter 1986 to revisit the Jim Henson special “The Tale of the Bunny Picnic,” which is about neither Easter, nor a bunny picnic, but it did introduce Bean Bunny, the Muppets’ Nermal. On This EpisodeMike Westfall (@fallwestmike), giant mutant farmer who apparently knows a great recipe for a hypoallergenic stew.Emily Rowley (@mlerowley), who answered the Who I’d Like to Meet field of her old MySpace profile with “Bean Bunny.”Topics and TangentsJim Henson’s original introduction to “The Tale of the Bunny Picnic.”.“The Jim Henson Hour.”Bean Bunny is still around at Muppet*Vision 3D in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.Bean Bunny was also a late-series addition to “Muppet Babies.” His picture is on the playroom wall in Disney’s new “Muppet Babies” show.“The Muppet Musicians of Bremen” and its grotesque, full-size Muppet bad guys.Sweetums in “Tales from Muppetland: The Frog Prince,” in example.Bean trying to tell the other bunnies to quiet down or the dog will hear them is also the plot of the first act of “Trolls.”Every Easter Bunny costume is terrifying.Y’all remember Puffalumps? Bunch of dorks talk Star Trek with Carlin Trammel of the now defunct Nerd Lunch podcast. Set phasers on whatever adjective works for you in this sentence.
Carlin Trammel and I have been planning on having a chat about his long running podcast, Nerd Lunch, put together by both carlin as well as his two buddies, Jeeg and Pax, for many moons now Nine years this podcast has run, and the occasion of my conversation with Carlin – or CT as he’s known on the podcast – was the end of that podcast. We talk a lot in our conversation about transition, finality, and the passion it takes to keep something going so consistently for so long. By comparison, I made the first season of verse show run from April to September, then took a break for as long as the show ran. Much love and many props to Pax, Jeeg, and CT, who have weathered a lot of changes to their personal life, as well as to how the internet works, over those nine years. #VerseShow comprises conversations that give voice to creators, their process, their struggles, and the celebrations of their work. It's an interview podcast with a bend toward curiosity about the creative process.
Christian and DiGio are joined by pals Carlin Trammel and Paxton Holley from The Nerd Lunch Podcast as they attempt to turn the movie Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure into lunch.
It's a postscript to March as The Chap Report's March episode finds itself in the beginning of April. Corey welcomes back Carlin Trammel of "Nerd Lunch Prime." The two talk A LOT about planes which includes a metaphor for Carlin's post-Nerd Lunch Podcast career, LOST and what it's like to fly on planes. Also, Carlin makes an impassioned plea to not quickly move on to the next national story. Remember the massive amount of devastation that has hit our country over the past couple years. Lots of people still need help. You can read just a few of the stories about Mexico Beach at NeverForgottenCoast.com as just one example.
Day 8: We blur the lines of reality, time, and space and practice peace on Earth and good will to men, women, chickens, bears, and Dizzy Gillespie in the 1979 TV special, “John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together.” On This Episode Mike Westfall (@fallwestmike), wooden toy soldier who somehow qualified for foreign combat despite being unable to stay in formation. Bill Hanstock (@sundownmotel), freelance editor, writer, and producer published on SBNation, UPROXX, and some old, baby poop color website called Progressive Boink. Carlin Trammel (@nerdlunch) of the Nerd Lunch and Dragonfly Ripple podcasts. Topics and Tangents Bill’s Uncle Deadly tattoo. Former WWE Superstar and “Muppets Most Wanted” cast member Hornswoggle’s Tattoo Tribute to the Muppets. The Muppet Show Season 4 DVD promised at Disney’s 2009 D23 Expo, but which never came. Miss Piggy brings a sex joke, lest we forget the pilot of the Muppet Show was called “Sex and Violence.” John Denver’s linear notes for the album’s 1996 re-release cite the Muppets as an inspiration for writing “Alfie, the Christmas Tree.” “A Baby Just Like You” is one endpoint of the John Denver Christmas song emotional spectrum. The other endpoint is “Please Daddy (Don’t Get Drunk This Christmas).” A brief examination of the logistics behind Rowlf’s piano playing. John Denver’s rider absolutely included a scheduled constitutional into the woods. The only inclusion of “I Will Wait for You” sadder than Miss Piggy’s: “Futurama.” Jesus Christ has His own entry on Muppet Wiki. John’s son, Zachary: In the audience during “Silent Night,” and and at his father’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony in 2014. Jerry Nelson and Louise Gold singing “When the River Meets the Sea” at Jim Henson’s memorial service. EP85 | A Team Movie Sequel | SequelQuest We love it when a plan comes together. In 2010 the 1980's prime time hit The A-Team was adapted to the big screen and promised big action and big fun, but was unfortunately a big bomb at the box office. Even with the star power of Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, The A-Team movie just didn't connect with fans of blockbuster cinema. SequelQuest loves a challenge as much as Mr. T loves gold chains and that's why Adam and Jeff along with returning guest, Carlin Trammel aka CT from the Nerd Lunch podcast decided to take on the mission of pitching an A-Team sequel that will knock the cigar right out of your mouth. Hop into our custom van as we discuss our nostalgia for the original A-Team TV series and the mountain of merchandising that came with it's success, as well as a debate the merits of the big screen version that may deserve a second look. So who will Hannibal, Face, B.A. and Murdock take on in The A-Team 2? The bad guys range from drug lords to ghosts from Hannibal's past but they all add up to trouble that gives our favorite group of highly skilled mercernaries a chance to strut their stuff. While you won't have to "get on no plane", we're telling you to get "on the jazz" and listen to the podcast, Fool! Maybe that's because Skyfall inspired them or maybe because recent developments with Alabama Dog forced them to channel their emotions in this manner. Also, the remaining James Pod crew introduce a brand new segment!

It's been a rough couple months for the show. At the end of Episode 0012, the podcasting trio of Aaron Nix, Alabama Dog and Carlin Trammel split and each did their own version of the show for 0013. And maybe that worked great or maybe it was horrible. Either way, the feud has ended with this episode and the team is reunited by their love of trying to one up each other in James Bond trivia. And hey, listening to two guys play a board game makes for good podcastin'!

Finally, Carlin Trammel's entry in the solo episodes of the podcast. No longer needing Aaron as a co-host, he's found a George Lazenby in his new co-host, Chay. Will the new dynamic work? Or will it crash and burn like Lazenby's entry into the 007 James Bond franchise? Plus: Yoga!

It's a historic episode of the podcast. Carlin Trammel and Aaron Nix take on the task of discussing their first Daniel Craig entry into the 007 James Bond franchise—Quantum of Solace. But tensions mount and "discussing" is probably not the correct term to use. Listen to the end as this episode will have repercussions on the future of this podcast.

In this episode, Aaron Nix and Carlin Trammel kill off the Timothy Dalton set of 007 James Bond films and cover License to Kill. But not until after Aaron makes a point to try to kill off the feud between Carlin and Alabama Dog. But Alabama Dog kills the chances of that happening. Carlin also tries to kill Aaron's enthusiasm for his dodgeball team. There's a whole lot of killing going on this episode, but no one has a license/licence for it.

It's episode 007 so what better way to celebrate this episode of the podcast than delve into the 1983 classic, Octopussy? In this episode, Aaron Nix appoints himself a mediator between the feuding Carlin Trammel and Alabama Dog, Carlin shows a renewed devotion to making this podcast what it should be, and dodgeball takes an interesting turn. Plus, how about those stunt people?

Aaron Nix and Carlin Trammel return in this episode of the podcast to talk about Roger Moore's debut entry in the 007 James Bond franchise...Live and Let Die. Questions are both raised and answered. Was this the best movie for Roger Moore to start with? Is Sheriff Pepper horribly annoying? Is 1973 Jane Seymour prettier than post-1973 Jane Seymour? Is Roger Moore's Bond kind of creepy? Is this movie racist? Is Paul McCartney the man? How complicated can it be to make coffee? We should have asked Pepi Foods that last question...
