Send us a textCan you believe it's been 40yrs since Roger Moore bowed out of the James Bond role? Seems like only yesterday for me and as long as I have breath in my body he's still my favorite. But, at the time, there was a great deal of flack when the public realized just how old Roger Moore really was.....simple arithmetic would have told them he was 57 but they had to go and make a big song and dance about it. "I do all my own stunts, and my own lying", said Roger whenever he was asked about being the good commander.Luckily for him he had stuntmen like Jason White around to take the blows for him. We chat to Jason and find out a bit more about this remarkable experience.Enjoyhttps://linktr.ee/behindthestuntsSupport the showIf you've enjoyed this episode then why not follow us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook using the following linkhttps://linktr.ee/behindthestunts

In this episode of The Other Half podcast, the boys and HoneyBees watched the final Roger Moore movie, A View to a Kill! Roger Moore would have gone out with a bang, but he's completely overshadowed by Mayday, played by Grace Jones. Even the actual Bond girl in this movie is but a BLIP in the marketing artwork. Grace Jones is just that good. Pair her with Christopher Walken and you've got yourself one of the best pairs of villains you can find in a Bond film. Well, at least since Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd! But how is it actually as a movie? Is the plot good? Are the action scenes compelling? And we have much to discuss including: quiches, my fear of being run over by an invisible car, Dick van Dyke, going undercover in a crab-shack and what exactly is 'a view to a kill'.

Bond. James Bond. This week we watch Roger Moore's final Bond film: A View to a Kill. While he wasn't a big fan of this sprawling action movie, we found some things to like about it. Cheeky puns, for example, and Grace Jones sparring with Christopher Walken. Listen along as we dissect the tech, Bond-i-ness, extravagant chase scenes and the perfection Walken as a Bond villain. Shake your martinis and listen along with whatever spy device you have!

This week, we are reviewing the reviews of “Delusion in Death,” and there were so many bad reviews of this one, especially three 1-Star reviews all from men. The first one is especially bad when this man says: “One of THE MOST PAINFUL BOOKS in all of eternity…The story – depressing. The character – disgusting. The author – revolting.” The next 1-Star review says: “Everyone that exists in this book are smug pricks,” and the one after that says: “cannot survive outside the readership of a police community, far less outside the United States of America.” (Who’s going to tell him that this book was a best seller not only in the U.S., but all around the world.) There was also one reviewer who didn’t like this book because they thought the plot was too close to the James Bond movie: “A View to a Kill.” Spoiler Alert: It’s not. At ALL. Other comments include: “just tired of hearing about them ad nauseum. If I were Roarke, I think I’d check out.” “I couldn’t get past the second chapter.” “The futuristic setting is nothing but a gimmick: ‘Links and Blinks and Rinky-Dinks…” “What I am finding distasteful is that she is more and more adding God’s name in vain and the F bomb.” “It started going downhill when you switched to hardcover” “Adult comic book – – bad” By contrast, there were some very thoughtful good reviews on this book too. “I suddenly started shipping Nadine & Kyung. I don’t know why, I just did.” “Spending time with Eve and Roarke always puts my in my happy place!” “Even if you don’t want to be seen with a romance, I swear pick it up on Kindle or Audible and try one! You’ll be hooked!” “I would recommend the series and plan to keep reading it for now. It is still entertaining which is what really counts.” “A Must Read!” “I am lovin’ it !!!” “Damn good story!”

It's back to the 1980s in this episode of the Film Stories podcast, kicking off with one last James Bond 007 adventure for Roger Moore.A View To A Kill - teased at the end of 1983's Octopussy as From A View To A Kill - came together initially with little fuss for a James Bond movie. Roger Moore was quickly invited back. John Glen was asked to direct even before he'd finished the last film. Pinewood Studios was booked. And then the problems: question marks over whether Roger Moore was too old for the role, announcing someone for the villain who turned the part down - and then the 007 stage at Pinewood burning down.1988's Buster by comparison was a fairly smooth shoot. Phil Collins agreed to take his first lead role, Julie Walters was in the USA for the Oscars when she got the script. But the story of one of the Great Train Robbers came with questions, not least should such a movie be with such a light tone about such a serious subject. Still, it got to the Oscars...Stories of both - and their respective royal premieres too - are told in this episode... Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This is a public service announcement. Thousands of horses die needlessly giddy every year. That's why you should always tell your horse to "giddy down" after it's done giddying up. Around the world today, countless horses are locked in a heightened state of giddy, having been recklessly told to "giddy up" by their enthusiastic riders, but never having had the counteractive phrase "giddy down" lovingly whispered into their giddy big ears back at the stable at bedtime. In some of the most extreme cases, actually, we've seen dead horses who've been 10x or 20x giddied by careless riders, their horpse corpses still audibly teeheeing from the residual gid. And their owners? Nowhere to be seen, unbelievably. But you can be change all that. In this episode, Log becomes a groomsman and Steve does a feature!

"Wow! What a view!" "To a KILL!" We watched "A View to a Kill" with special guest Garrett Mitchell and this is now officially a Grace Jones appreciation podcast.  With twenty five James Bond films to choose from, we thought long and hard about which one to cover here at MTMUG. Daniel Craig emerging from the sea like Ursula Andress before him in "Casino Royale" was hard to ignore, but the siren song of a platinum blonde Christopher Walken, the gorgeous "Sheena" herself Tanya Roberts and the ICON Grace Jones made "A View to a Kill" a no brainer. Walken's tech-bro villain has aspirations of monoplizing the Silicon Valley by way of a "double earthquake" and floods, but thats not why were here. Jones as the first ever hench-Woman May Day is serving looks, spouting quips and perfoming feats of strength that had us screaming "Mother!" every time she was on screen.  Okay, we can talk about Roger Moore playing Bond for the Seventh(!) and final time. For 57 years young, Moore was still turning it out as Bond. He more than made up for a lack of chemistry with his leading Bond girl with some great scenes with Grace. And we can't forget the killer theme song by Duran Duran - pure 80's new wave radness!
