He was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn on June 6, 1981. Fr. Tom served as a parochial vicar and pastor in parishes in Brooklyn and Queens from 1981 until his retirement in 2021. From 1984 to 1989, Fr. Tom studied language in the Archdiocese of Korea with the MaryKnoll fathers and served in parishes in Seoul.
