You don't put Christian Nielsen, Michael DiGiovanni, Carlin Trammel, Shawn Robare, William Bruce West, Rob Graham, Michael May, Jeeg, and Paxton Holley in a room together and not record a podcast. While at C2E2, the group (minus Jeff Somogyi who sadly was not feeling well that evening) gathered in Christian and DiGio's hotel room to revive the classic Atomic Geeks topic: "Robot, Monkey, Michael Caine." Each person suggests a movie, TV show, event, etc. and discuss what would best improve it: a monkey, a robot, or... well, you'll see.
In 2015, the Nerd Lunch crew met up with most of the Atomic Geeks and assorted members of the Fourth Chair Army at C2E2 in Chicago. Ten years later, it's time to get together again with even more friends. The group this time included Carlin Trammel, William Bruce West, Jeeg, Paxton Holley, Jeff Somogyi, Shawn Robare, Michael May, Rob Graham, Christian Nielsen, and Michael DiGiovanni. In this audio diary, we learn about how the trip came together, check in with the attendees at various points of the weekend, and tease a very special podcast episode that we recorded there and will be Coming Soon.

Michael and Rob invite Michael DiGiovanni, Christian Nielsen, and Paxton Holley to help cast an imaginary remake of Silverado. Each of our five casting directors have scoured Hollywood for the perfect actors to update the roles of Emmett, Paden, Mal, Jake, Rae, and Cobb, plus other characters we wanted to think about. We've brought our top candidates to the conference room to make final decisions, but also to discuss possible tweaks to the script and even suggest a director.
These TV themes Sweet 16s aren't getting any easier. This time, Michael and Rob are joined by Paxton Holley and Carlin Trammel to agonize over, nominate, and vote on our favorite opening themes from action and mystery shows. It may be an impossible mission, but we'll open a bottle of magnum and try to become the greatest American heroes as we reveal the unsolved mystery of the best action/mystery theme ever.

It's a clinker! This last week before Christmas we have three final Christmas Spirit movies to discuss and they're all biggies. This first one is the cable classic A Christmas Story from 1983 and talking with Michael about it is the one and only Paxton Holley.
Yesterday, Michael DiGiovanni and Michael May talked about Christmas Vacation and how - during their prep for that conversation - they discovered the existence of a weird sequel called Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure. Of course they had to come back and talk about it. And they invited Paxton Holley to do that with them.
Back in the 1970s and 80s if you walked into a bookstore you would undoubtedly had seen whatever the newest movie was in theaters sitting on a display in book form. The movie novelization is a world unto itself. We take a look at what it takes to adapt a movie to a novel, why the differences can be interesting, and get into why they exist in the first place. With insight from novelization experts Alan Dean Foster and Tim Waggoner, podcast host Paxton Holley, and filmmaker Whit Stillman, the rare filmmaker who has novelized his own films.LinksDan Delgado on Twitter and BlueskyListen to Paxton Holley's I Read Movies PodcastVisit Tim Waggoner's websiteVisit Alan Dean Foster's websiteBuy Whit Stillman's books If you like the show you can support by clicking here: Buy Me A Coffee. Following up on Episode 132 from last year when we determined the Ultimate Literary Villain of All Time, Michael and Rob welcome Ben Graham and Paxton Holley to do the same with TV villains. Each panelists nominates four favorite boob tube baddies, then we put them into tournament brackets to discuss and vote. Will you agree with our choices? Did we leave off a favorite of yours? Listen and let us know!

A Christmas Carol week continues with another old Sleigh Bell Cinema discussion. This time Michael and Paxton Holley triple the run time of the movie they're talking about when they dig into the short Mickey's Christmas Carol starring a plethora of Disney characters in the various Dickens roles.
The plan was for Lizzie Twachtman, Paxton Holley, Rob Graham, and Michael May to briefly discuss each of the films in Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But in a shocking turn of events, the panel had a lot to say and only got through the first two films (plus some opinions about Ang Lee's Hulk from 2003). Clearly we're not going to get through this project as quickly as we originally imagined, but please enjoy this in-depth discussion of the first two films in the MCU and we'll be back soon to talk about a couple more.
Paxton Holley joins Michael May, Rob Graham, and Evan Hanson in the lounge for another meandering talk about what they've been reading, watching, and thinking about. Topics start from: Books of fairy tales and the works of Ray Bradbury and Italo Calvino Comics about Spider-Man and the third Green Goblin, Red Hood and the Outlaws, and The Shadow TV shows like Dickensian, The Expanse, The Great, Queen’s Gambit, and the eighth season of Mad About You Movies like Overlord and the Marvel films leading into WandaVision And real talk on Boat Names, Book Formats, Family, and Spheres of Influence
Annaliese Trammel, Paxton Holley, and Jeeg join Michael and Rob to hunt down Mandalorians and Jedi and -- ooh! side quest! -- on this in-depth, episode-by-episode symposium on the second season of The Mandalorian.
After Michael May and Robert Zerbe check in on their resolutions and predictions from last year's Nerdstradamus episode, Rob Graham, Evan Hanson, Kay, and Paxton Holley join the fun to look back on the books, movies, and TV shows of 2020 and forward to what's potentially coming in 2021. This episode is full of resolutions, recommendations, and reckonings. And a little bonus something we like to call "Tea Talk." Opening song by Andrew Bird.
Last year on the show, Michaels DiGiovanni and May talked about Christmas Vacation and discovered that there was a TV movie sequel focused on Cousin Eddie and his family. With some encouragement from Paxton Holley, the three friends decided to watch it and talk about it this year... and then re-evaluate their life choices.
Paxton Holley joins us for episode 24 of WIZARDS to talk the origins of Batman’s Knightfall saga, the multimedia launch of Malibu’s Ultraverse, Peter David ditching X-Factor to revamp Aquaman at DC and Jim Shooter creating his DEFIANT line of comics. It’s 90’s comics nostalgia at its finest, so listen now!
Michael May, Rob Graham, Paxton Holley, and Jay Ryan have bats on the brain. Three months after the death of director Joel Schumacher, AfterLUNCH tries to solve the riddle of Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. What do they do well, what do they do poorly, and how do they compare to other versions of the character?
We watched 1951's The African Queen with guest Paxton Holley from the I Read Movies Podcast and now we just want to say no more Hippo Honks Allnut!
Paxton Holley pitched the idea for this episode in which he, Adam Pope, Michael May, and Shawn Robare each try to sell an idea for a movie, TV show, or product, then modify that idea based on notes from the other panelists. It's a weird and funny episode; the perfect way to kick off the new, but familiar AfterLUNCH podcast. And very special thank you to the legendary Mike Westfall for creating the AfterLUNCH logo.
Pax is back, baby. In this quick sidebar we talk our backgrounds when it comes to "America's Favorite Storyteller" - John Grisham. Find Pax at cavalcadeofawesome.net.
Friend of the pod Paxton Holley from Nerd Lunch and I Read Movies joins Robert and Susie for the latest episode. Pax talks Covid-19 and blueberry picking before the trio get into 1987's "From The Hip". John Hurt and shenanigans dominate the conversation and the group finds out how accurate it is for an attorney to go mental with a hammer in the courtroom.
Mike Westfall, Michael DiGiovanni, Annaliese Trammel, and Paxton Holley join Michael May for another round of the classic Nerd Lunch feature: "Turning Movies into TV Shows." After a discussion of what movie-based TV shows have worked (and which haven't), the panel pitches TV shows based on A League of Their Own, Gremlins, Xanadu, Tomorrowland, and Pretty in Pink.
Christian and DiGio are joined by pals Carlin Trammel and Paxton Holley from The Nerd Lunch Podcast as they attempt to turn the movie Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure into lunch.
Things get spooky... for the vampires when they're hunted by Blade. But what does that have to do with Billy the Kid and Rex O'Herlihan the Singing Cowboy? There are thrills and there are shudders, but mostly there’s a lot of laughter as the panel spelunks deep into the Caped Crusader’s history.

EP78 | Sequelto RAD How RAD are you? In 1986 Hal Needham, the director of Smokey and The Bandit was tasked by Talia Shire from the Rocky films to direct a “sportsploitation” film in the style of The Karate Kid, but with BMX racing. Who knew that by including scenes of Bike Dancing, Ass Sliding and the wicked BMX danger of Helltrack he would create an 80’s cult classic like RAD? More than 30 years later, this wild 80’s movie starring Bill Allen and Lori Laughlin is still not commercially available, but that won’t stop Adam and a duo of guest hosts from the Cult Film Club podcast from pitching their epic sequel ideas for RAD 2 in this podcast adventure. Paxton Holley from the NerdLunch podcast and I Read Movies delivers not 1, but 2 RAD sequels in order to create a trilogy that completes the journey of earnest BMX biker, Cru Jones. While RAD mega-fan, Shawn Robare from Branded In The 80’s imagines an Infinity War style crossover film featuring characters featured in Thrashin’, North Shore, Gleaming The Cube and Airborne coming together to get EXTREME! Meanwhile Adam combines the disciplines of BMX and Kung Fu for an unforgettable RAD 2 scenario that kicks the fun into high gear. Listen now and get ready to walk this sucker! Who knows what sequels lurk in the minds of movie fans? SequelQuest knows! This week we're heading back to 1994 to visit Alec Baldwin, John Lone and Penelope Ann Miller in the supernatural action adventure film The Shadow. Who is The Shadow? If you don't know by now, you'll definitely be an expert by the end of this podcast. Join Adam, Jeff, Jeramy and special guest Paxton Holley from the Nerd Lunch and Cult Film Club podcasts as they discuss how a film a film from the director of Highlander, written by the screenwriter of Jurassic Park and featuring Ian McKellan and Tim Curry could fare so poorly at the box office despite so many memorable moments. The adventure takes on a new dimension as the crew pitch their ideas to bring this radio and pulp magazine icon back to the mainstream for modern audience in a follow-up to The Shadow's last cinematic outing. Will the invisible avenger continue battling evil int he 30's or will he pass on his legacy to a new generation in a Netflix original series? Listen now and find out! Announcing the newest venture by Nerd Lunch...a podcast! That's right, we're taking the discussions we've made infamous one step further and having them in auditory form. Jeeg and I will be joined by our good friend Paxton Holley from the Cavalcade of Awesome to hash out nerdy and foodie topics. And on occasion, we'll be joined by other special guests as well. We are happy to be the first podcast to be released under the banner of The Atomic Geeks Podcasting Network. A couple of podcasts today, tomorrow the world. In episode one, CT, Jeeg, and Paxton get to know one another a little better by taking some Internet personality tests. Find out which nerd is C-3PO, which is Chuck Norris, and who could survive the longest if chained to a velociraptor. Plus one of the nerds reveals an impressive and somewhat frightening knowledge of the Care Bears. If you want to play along at home, you can check out the quizzes we took here: BrainFall.com Oatmeal Quizzes Check out the first episode and let us know what you think.
