Welcome to the Royals Roundup! This new feature on Royals content will arrive in a podcast format as we dive into the personalities of our organization on a bi-weekly setting. You can expect to see insight from players, management, Victoria hockey royalty and everything in between as we showcase the lives that provide hockey entertainment to our city. You can find the audio of ‘Royals Roundup Podcast' on Spotify and the video available on the Victoria Royals Youtube channel. Our first podcast featured the newly appointed Associate General Manager, Jake Heisinger. Heisinger was hired by the Royals at the end of July as he joined the team following six seasons with the Winnipeg/Kootenay Ice organization. During our conversation, we chatted about his upbringing in Winnipeg, playing junior hockey for his hometown MJHL team, moving onto playing collegiate hockey with Curry College and his transition into hockey operations. Heisinger will have a primary focus on scouting and player development; a role he is very familiar with, having been an integral part of the group in Winnipeg that scouted first-round NHL Draft Picks such as Connor Geekie, Matthew Savoie, Carson Lambos, and Zach Benson.

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Alex Micheletti joins as we look ahead to 2025-26 to see who will still be here and how many roster spots will be filled by younger prospects! We start with the goalie room, which hinges on Filip Gustavsson's upcoming extension. There could be a couple of years of overlap between Gustavsson and Jesper Wallstedt before Wallstedt takes over as the top goalie. We look at the blue line, with several names that could step up such as Kyle Masters, Carson Lambos and Jack Peart. We also discuss the likelihood that Jon Merrill makes it to the end of his current deal. We move to the forwards, and the chances that Mats Zuccarello, Marcus Foligno and Ryan Hartman are retained. We look at potential fill in candidates in Liam Ohgren, Adam Beckman and Marco Rossi. The main point being that the 2025-26 roster is wide open, which means that playing prospects now is vital to the team's overall success in two years!Subscribe to our YouTube Channel: Locked On WildFollow/Subscribe Anywhere: linktr.ee/LockedOnWildFollow Locked On NHL: linktr.ee/lockedonNHLSupport Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! | Offers from our sponsors: lockedonpodcasts.com/offersBirddogs - Go to birddogs.com/lockedonnhl and when you enter promo code, LOCKEDONNHL, they'll throw in a free custom birddogs Yeti-style tumbler with every order.Gametime - Download the Gametime app, create an account, and use code LOCKEDONNHL for $20 off your first purchase.ebay Motors - For parts that fit, head to eBay Motors and look for the green check. On today's episode of Locked on Wild, we dive into the Wild's 2021 Draft Class with Gabe Foley of Recruit Scouting. We start with some overall draft thoughts, and whether shortening the draft is a good idea. We move to Jesper Wallstedt. Does Gabe think he has what it takes to become a quality NHL starter? What can we expect from Carson Lambos? How big of a home run pick was Jack Peart in the second round? We then move to the remaining picks for the Wild and wonder who between Caedan Bankier, Kyle Masters, Josh Pillar and Nate Benoit has the best chance of making it to the NHL level. On today's episode of Locked on Wild we start by reacting to the first round of the NHL Draft. Jack Eichel wasn't traded but Sam Reinhart was. What effect will that have on the Wild's ability to add a center via trade or does it make it more likely the Wild just go free agent shopping instead? We react to both the Jesper Wallstedt and Carson Lambos picks with notes from The Athletic and Elite Prospects. What does the Wallstedt selection say about Kaapo Kahkonen? Are we surprised the Wild didn't grab a center? We finish with more of the Seattle Expansion Draft crossover from Friday.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!BetOnline AGThere is only 1 place that has you covered and 1 place we trust. For the second time in franchise history, the Wild took two players in the first round of the NHL Draft. We recorded from Tom's apartment to discuss it all! Topics include: What brewery we'd run our Draft War Rooms from The Wild trade up to select Jesper Wallstedt at Pick 20 Judd Brackett continues being aggressive at the draft table Did having an extra pick make drafting a first-round goalie less risky? Was Wallstedt a pick for team need, or was he the best player available? Wild draft defenseman Carson Lambos at Pick 26 Lambos got dragged down by a fake season Do these two players fit into the Wild's post-buyout plans? Defenseman Carson Lambos talks to the Wild media after being selected in the first round of the 2021 NHL Draft
First, Max and Corey take a look at Canada's National Junior Team Summer Showcase roster and discuss some of the big names involved, including Mason McTavish, Dylan Guenther, Kent Johnson, Carson Lambos, and Corson Ceulemans. Then, the guys break down Corey's final mock draft heading into tonight's NHL Draft and discuss why he has William Eklund going to the Anaheim Ducks at No. 3, why the Ottawa Senators' selection at No. 10 is the most pivotal one in the draft, a late push for Zachary L'Heureux, why Matthew Coronato finished at No. 17, and much more.Plus, to close things out, the guys answer a bunch of listener questions including if Mason McTavish is really a better option at center than Fyodor Svechkov, NHL comps for Brandt Clarke, ranking the top ten prospects purely on upside, if Taige Harding is the next Colton Parayko, what are the chances William Eklund falls to No. 6, and many more. And, don't forget, you can sign up for an annual subscription to The Athletic for just $3.99 a month when you visit http://theathletic.com/hockeyshow Hosted on Acast.
