Then, Nick, Gord, and Sam McKee continue their discussion on the IIHF's reassurance of having a completed ice rink and building for the 2026 games, as well as recent controversial calls on goaltender interference and hand passes. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.
Moritz Seider got his revenge on the scoreboard - not for a lack of rough stuff against the Boston Bruins. Tune in as we begin by recapping the Detroit Red Wings taking down Swayman and the Bruins in a Hockeytown rematch of last game, including: James van Riemsdyk turning back the clock, stellar performances from Moritz Seider, Lucas Raymond, Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Larkin, Emmitt Finnie, & others, Ben Chiarot continuing to be a force, John Gibson's struggles, Simon Edvinsson mixing it up as Nikita Zadorov and Mark Kastelic earned misconducts, & more as Todd McLellan's squad responded (4:50). After that and a conversation about John Gibson's continued performance issues, we take a look at the schedule ahead, Moritz Seider potentially earning Norris votes, Raymond's point streak, Patrick Kane's record, & more (19:00). Next, we break down what we've heard on the Quinn Hughes front as the Vancouver Canucks superstar continues to be the subject of trade rumors surrounding the Detroit Red Wings (and New Jersey Devils): has Steve Yzerman expressed interest? Would Danielson, Kasper, Sandin-Pellikka, Edvinsson, Bear, Brandsegg-Nygard, or others have to be included? Would he extend with the Red Wings? (31:25) Next, concern in Italy as the Olympic arena is behind (and small), & what the options are for the NHL, NHLPA, IIHF, & IOC (43:30), as well as updates on Dmitri Buchelnikov & Max Plante as we peek into the Hockeytown pipeline (51:05). In this week's edition of the PodKaz, a weekly look at NCAA women's hockey from USCHO.com, hosts Nicole Haase and Todd Milewski discuss a change to the IIHF calendar. The Women's World Championship is moving from April to November during the 2026-27 season, so players could be pulled away from their college teams for national team duty.Nicole and Todd discuss whether enough consideration was given for the developmental path in making an accommodation for the PWHL to not have to disrupt its schedule. Then it's a look back at last week's play, which saw important sweeps for Ohio State and Minnesota, a split between Clarkson and UConn and another stumble by St. Lawrence against Mercyhurst. Also: Delaware earned the first-year program's first victory. We wrap up with a look ahead to games between ranked teams: No. 4 Minnesota Duluth at No. 1 Wisconsin, No. 3 Minnesota in a home-and-home series with No. 10 St. Cloud State and No. 14 Boston University at No. 8 Colgate. The PodKaz is a production of USCHO.com. Welcome to episode 210 of Sports Management Podcast. Today's guest is Szymon Szemberg, a reoccurring guest who first appeared on episode 5, almost 5 years ago – and a lot have happened since. Szymon recently wrote an article about the NBA closing in on a league in Europe and if this could lead to an NHL-driven ice hockey league in Europe as well. This topic became even more relevant when NBA commissioner Adam Silver recently stated that such a league could start already in 2027 or 2028. Szymon is the perfect person to discuss this topic. He has been a player, coach and later sports director and managing director of an elite basketball club in Sweden. He has worked as a sports reporter, covering both basketball and hockey. Between 2001-2014, he served as Communications Director for the International Ice Hockey Federation. He was the Champions Hockey League's project lead and later COO (2013-2015) and most recently he was the Managing Director of EHC, Alliance of European Hockey Clubs, from which he just stepped down after 10 years. We spoke about: Why the NBA is planning a new European league How such a league could be structured If NHL can go the same route, and if so how the league look like Szymon explains the possible 4 scenarios, from least to most likely. We also cover the financial and political implications And much more! The Post-Gazette's Adam Bittner and Jason Mackey react to a busy week of Pittsburgh sports news. Should OTAs be a red line for Steelers GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin in their pursuit of QB Aaron Rodgers? How important is the offseason program to his success, given that it didn't seem to matter much for Russell Wilson and Justin Fields? And how much worse off would the Steelers be with Mason Rudolph as their starter instead? Is the national media bashing he's received fair? Our duo tackles those questions; the difference between George Pickens and DK Metcalf as WR1; and the team's biggest remaining weakness after adding Derrick Harmon and Kaleb Johnson in the NFL draft. Later, the guys discuss the Penguins coaching search. Why does Mitch Love continue to make a lot of sense as a frontrunner? How much say should Sidney Crosby have in the hiring process? And how cool is it to watch Crosby and Marc-Andre Fleury play together one last time at the IIHF world championships? Then in the third segment, airing on the PG's Pirates YouTube channel, our duo ponders Ben Cherington's options as the season continues to slip away. Is there a trade he can make to salvage his job? Is that a move he should be allowed to make, given his track record? Would firing him have a bigger practical or psychological impact? And what should we make of the Paul Skenes trade chatter, initiated this past week by ESPN's Jeff Passan? Adam and Jason give their thoughts, then analyze the catching situation with Henry Davis and Joey Bart. And Alexander Canario's recent hot streak.

Last week, a senior Israeli official told the media that the country's goal is to establish full diplomatic relations with Lebanon soon, a move that follows a November ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah that has kept Northern Israel relatively safe in recent months. In that light, the Israeli government has been urging displaced Israeli families from the region—more than 60,000 people who fled after Hezbollah began firing rockets at them after Oct. 7—to finally come home. But not everyone is convinced. Some fear the ceasefire won't last. Even the mayor of Metula, where 60 percent of the buildings were damaged—including the Canadian-built hockey and sports complex—has warned residents not to return yet. On today's episode of The CJN Daily, we're joined by Michal and Nir Zamir, a Metula couple with deep Canadian ties. She's returned to her empty home in northern Israel just recently, while he stays in Edmonton, where some of their children live. Then we'll hear from Dr. Esther Silver, a former Torontonian who toughed out the war in her home in Kfar Vradim, a small town about an hour to the southwest of Metula in the Upper Galilee. Locked On Capitals - Daily Podcast On The Washington Capitals
The Washington Capitals will have two players representing the team at this year's IIHF World Championships in May. Defenseman Martin Fehervary will be suiting up for Team Slovakia, bringing his solid two-way game to the international stage. Fehervary emerged as a reliable presence on the Capitals' blue line this season, using his speed and hockey IQ to shut down opponents' top scorers. Now he'll aim to do the same against elite talent at the Worlds. Meanwhile, forward Ryan Leonard will join Team USA's star-studded roster. Leonard, who won gold at the World Juniors earlier this year, is coming off a record-breaking sophomore season at Boston College where he tallied an astounding 41 points in just as many games. Leonard's invitation to Team USA speaks volumes about his maturity and high ceiling as a prospect. While other Capitals like Charlie Lindgren and Dylan Strome declined invites to focus on offseason training, Fehervary and Leonard are eager to gain more high-level experience. Considering the Capitals' early playoff exit, representing their countries will provide much-needed competition. It's a great chance for Fehervary and Leonard to develop further against elite international talent. If they can translate that experience back to the Capitals, it may give the team a boost toward greater success next season. Overall, Capitals fans should be excited to see these two youngsters test themselves on the global stage.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Monopoly GO!Get in the game and join your friends. In episode #252 of the Glass and Out Podcast, our guest is Philipp Pinter, the Head Coach of both Austria's U18 and U20 National Teams. If you didn't grow up in Austria and play for the National Team, then it might be easy to focus on the reasons why Austria can't be successful internationally. But Pinter doesn't seem overly concerned with that. What he does seem focused on is creating a learning environment that makes his passion for hockey and representing Austria internationally contagious. In addition to his coaching role with hockey Austria, he was recently named the Sports Manager for the Graz 99ers hockey club. Listen as he shares why you have to first set yourself on fire before inspiring others, being your authentic self as a coach, and the importance of being an active listener
