In the previous sermon we explored the vision of CCC. To reach the destination of our vision we need a mode of transportation. Our mission is that vehicle. Explore with us how we move through the world as followers of Jesus who serve with heart, worship in wonder and create with purpose.
At Christ City we have a simple vision. We aspire to become: A place to belong and a place to know God. Just because it is simple does not mean it is easy. Join us as we remember and recommit our hearts and minds to this inspiring and challenging vision.
What does it mean to be a merciful person? As Christians we believe that God is abundantly kind, loving and merciful and that the supreme expression of this is located in the life, death, resurrection and teachings of Jesus. How do we own the practice of showing mercy in our daily lives and decisions? Listen in as we explore the seventh practice in our series on the Eight Practices of Christ City.
Without wonder, our faith and life can become inflexible and rigid. At Christ City we are calling one another to a space where we can worship in wonder. This means we may have to address some of the ideas, narratives, and behaviors that crowd out the possibility of wonder in our lives. Jesus winks at this when he says the kingdom of heaven belongs to children and that we will access it only by becoming like them. What is a child if not a being filled with wonder? Listen in as as we explore part two of the new mission of Christ City.
Being overloaded with information today from social media, streaming services, various entertainment sources, breaking news reports, gaming etc.; the list is endless how our attention gets pulled in so many ways. Join us as we look at this practice Cultivating spirituality and how we can begin to heal from fears, being overwhelmed, anxieties, bitterness and grief.
Life is dynamic and so are each of us. At Christ City we are learning to follow Jesus in the constant changes we experience in the flow of life. This perspective has led us to our mission: Becoming disciples of Jesus who recover their lives, reimagine their purpose and refresh their world. The vision of Christ City Church is to be A Place to Belong and A Place to Know God. Join us as we discuss the deep and layered topic of what it means to know God and the paths we seek to connect with the Divine. Click here to learn more about our vision https://christcity.org/vision-missions.
A place to belong is the first half of the vision of Christ City Church. Join us as we explore what this looks like in the life of our church and how we aspire to be, more and more, this type of spiritual family. Click https://christcity.org/vision-mission to learn more about our vision.

Did you know there are over 30,000 different denominations and movements in the Christian faith? Is this what God intended? In times when we are more polarized than ever before we are encountering this rumbling, an invitation into a global unity in the spirit of John 17 among believers all over the planet. Matthew Lilley sits down with Jonathan Friz, founder of 10Days, as they discuss unity with God, with each other, and Jesus returning for a "Loving Bride" untied together, one as the Father and Son are one. You will be encouraged this week as you listen to this energizing conversation that will propel you into this great hope. Jonathan is the visionary and founder of the 10 Days movement (2004-present). Based on the 10 “Days of Awe” on the Biblical calendar from the day of Trumpets to the day of Atonement, 10 Days is an annual opportunity for united prayer, repentance, and humility before God. As we continue to explore the vision of Christ City we zero in on the second half of the statement-“knowing God”. Our assumptions about how we can know God as well as the conclusions we come to about what God is like are incredibly influential. These ideas shape our individual actions, values and perceptions of the world and, on a larger scale, dictate the direction of every human culture. Join us as we explore what it means to engage in knowing God at Christ City Church.

Jonah’s story is a good place to start looking at all the ways we struggle with connecting to others. Jonah’s resentment and unclear boundaries leave him filled with rage and isolated even from God’s Divine Mercy. We unpack what resentment does and how boundaries help us understand limits that support reconnecting with God, self, and other. To commit to pledge for 2021, go to christcity.org/pledge. As we celebrate six years as a church (planted in 2013 as the East Side parish of The District Church and then launched in 2017 as Christ City Church), Matthew Watson helps us consider the call and the challenge of Christ to our congregation by looking at Jesus' words to the church in Ephesus. [Revelation 2:1-4]
Galatians 2:11-14 Like the early church, Christ City desires to practice ‘embracing diversity.’ But this practice is never easy. This story in Galatians 2 exposes how hard this practice was for the early Church, and it won’t be easy for us either. In fact, if our embracing diversity is easy, are we really embracing the sort of diversity that honors God and honors others? Listen in as we wrestle with this question.

We serve a missionary God, with a vintage mission that began in Genesis and will end in Revelation. Jesus is the perfect fulfillment of the mission of God and the purpose for His church's mission. Our mission is a result of the Gospel's mission towards sinners through King Jesus. The mission of Christ City church is to reflect God's mission for His church in Birmingham.
In the return to this series, Brett speaks about the culture of ‘come and see’ marked by wonder and community.

We believe the vision of Christ City Church is bigger than any one person. Instead, we believe it is God who ultimately is interested in seeing a redeemed Birmingham. It is HIS vision - a vision He chooses to reveal in different ways through different people. Many people. One vision.
