Send us a textWe dive back into Preston Nicholes and Peter Moon's book Encounter In the Pleiades: An Inside Look at UFOs. Like with the other three episodes 290 298 & 310 this book is a branch in the dark and twisty hole that is the Montauk project. So I may mention back to a topic discussed in one of the previous Montauk episodes; you don't have to have listened to them before you listen to the Encounters in the Pleiades episodes. But like with all the other Montauk episodes I won't over use words like allegedly or supposably, you can just put them in where you feel it is needed. https://www.onemontauknation.org/Buy us a Coffee buymeacoffee.com/unpnormalcDAmy's Etsy Page Etsy.com/shop/sweetmagicbyamy Use Promo Code PARANORMACY at check out for free shipping (US only) Our Website: https://www.unpnormalcy.com/The Green Mushroom Podcast Network: greenmushroomproject.comSmuts Up, Lux Occult, Ad Hoc History, Unearthing Paranormalcy, Primordia, Ex V Plan, Grognostics, Also don't forget our other linksDiscordhttps://discord.gg/NhZxdPfdEdFollow us on Facebook and Join our Facebook Grouphttps://www.facebook.com/unpnormalcyhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/2147778561941881/ Follow us on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/unpnormalcy/ Follow us on Twitterhttps://twitter.com/UNPnormalcySupport the show

Esperanza and Irwin delve into the Prohibition Era, 1920 to 1933. There apparently were lots of hands in the till, making money from Prohibition on Long Island, or Liquor Island, as one prominent minister was quoted as saying. Carl Fisher, who's Island Club on Montauk's Star Island was the most glamorous speakeasy of its time, with patrons like Ernest Hemingway and NYC Mayor Jimmy Walker. Arthur Benson, where $250,000 worth of alcohol, a staggering amount in 1925, was confiscated from his 4000 acre estate. But it was the fishermen and baymen involved as well, eluding not just the authorities like the Coast Guard, but pirates and mobsters, like Al Capone, while transporting alcohol throughout Long Island and into NYC. With further involvement from Temperance Societies in the early 19th century, to the KKK's support of prohibition in an effort to appear patriotic, we were amazed at all the story lines that converge in this podcast. Listening is Believing.

TERROR ON THE BEACH! Seaside resorts from Cape May, New Jersey, to Montauk, Long Island, were paralyzed in fear during the summer of 1916.Not because of the threat of lurking German U-boats and saboteurs. But because of sharks. On July 1, 1916, Charles Epting Vansant was killed by a shark while swimming at a resort in Beach Haven, a popular destination on the Jersey Shore. At first, this terrible tragedy received only limited attention. After all, millions were flocking to the beaches along the Jersey Shore and throughout the New York region -- Coney Island, the Rockaways and Staten Island's South Beach.Shark attacks were the stuff of pirate legends and dramatic works of art. Most experts were skeptical that sharks were dangerous at all; the Maryland mogul Hermann Oelrichs offered $500 to any person with proof that sharks were dangerous to humans. Nobody claimed the reward. But during that July, sharks did threaten the lives of humans -- not only on sandy beaches, but even in tranquil watering holes, several miles inland. What was in the water in July of 1916?This show contains descriptions of violence related to shark attacks. You've been warned. This episode was edited and produced by Kieran Gannon.Visit the website for more episodes of the Bowery Boys Podcast.

In late August 1979, the FBI's Brooklyn-Queens Metropolitan Resident Agency (the BQ) received a significant tip from a top-echelon informant within the Genovese crime family. This informant, known as "Bob," reported that Paul Castellano, head of the Gambino crime family, had mentioned an upcoming major meeting at Gurney's Inn in Montauk, New York. The anticipated attendees included prominent figures such as Frank "Funzi" Tieri of the Genovese family, Carmine "The Snake" Persico of the Colombo family, and Tampa's organized crime leader, Santo Trafficante Jr. Recognizing the potential significance of this gathering—the most consequential since the 1957 Apalachin summit—the FBI swiftly mobilized. Agents, including undercover operatives, were dispatched to Gurney's Inn, posing as tourists to monitor arrivals and activities. Specialized personnel were prepared to install surveillance equipment to capture conversations during the meeting. Despite the extensive preparations, the anticipated meeting never occurred. The reasons remain uncertain; possibilities include the informant providing inaccurate information, the mobsters altering their plans, or suspicions about increased surveillance leading to a change in venue. This outcome was reminiscent of the 1957 Apalachin meeting, where law enforcement's unexpected presence led to the mobsters' dispersal. While the immediate operation at Gurney's Inn did not yield the expected results, it underscored the FBI's evolving strategies in combating organized crime. The bureau's readiness to deploy advanced surveillance techniques and coordinate large-scale operations marked a shift towards more proactive and sophisticated approaches. This evolution contributed to significant successes in subsequent years, including the Mafia Commission Trial of 1986 and the conviction of John Gotti in 1992. This episode about the FBI's almost-successful attempt to bug a major mob meeting at Gurney's Inn illustrates the challenges law enforcement faced in infiltrating organized crime and highlights the pivotal role such operations played in modernizing the FBI's methodologies. Joining us in this episode, we have: Daniel Edward Rosen, a staff reporter from the New York Sun, whose work has appeared in Esquire, the New York Observer, City Journal, New York Magazine, and the New York Times. See his original article: https://www.nysun.com/article/how-the-fbis-mad-dash-to-wiretap-the-mob-at-a-montauk-hotel-nearly-50-years-ago-helped-modernize-todays-agencyFrank DiMatteo joins us to provide color commentary based upon his experiences growing up embedded in one of the most infamous mob crews in the history of the American Cosa Nostra. Frank is the son of Ricky DiMatteo, a member of the legendary Gallo Crew of the Colombo Crime Family in New York City. He is also an author of several books in his own right including Growing Up Mafia, Mafia Hit Man, Lord High Executioner, The Cigar, Carmine the Snake, Red Hook, as well as the publisher of Mob Candy.

The House, the Whistle, and the Basement: Explaining America to ItselfAmerica in 2025 feels less like a nation-state and more like a house mid-repossession. Not by banks, but by competing claims of ownership over what it means to belong, to obey, to resist, and to rule. Think of it like this: there's an old multi-generational house — a Montauk-style sprawl. The parents live upstairs. The kids rule the basement. And now the whole place is in conflict. At first, the basement was a gift. A playroom. The kids got space to express themselves — a little weed, a little weirdness, some drag, some slogans. Fine. Contained chaos. But then the parents went downstairs… and it wasn't just play. The crucifix was upside down. There was graffiti, moral chanting, purity rituals, and defiance. They'd lost control. The parents tried to whistle — a sharp sound meant to snap order back into place, the way Grandpa Dunn used to whistle in Jersey City and all four daughters fell into line. But this time, the kids laughed. So they called the cops. In this case: Trump. Not as a liberator, but as enforcer-in-chief. He won the Electoral College, the popular vote, all the swing states. The GOP controls the House, the Senate, and the ideological center of gravity. He didn't bring back the old crew. He brought enforcers — Tulsi, RFK Jr., Kash Patel, Pam Bondi. The new guard. This wasn't a policy shift. This was a mandate. It's not just permission to govern — it's permission to undo. To erase. No more DEI priests. No more pronoun rituals. No more moral blackmail posing as diversity. The populist right believes they have the numbers and the moral right to reclaim the house. Not burn it down — but flip it. Renovate it. Throw out the squatters and board up the basement. To the left, this is terrifying. Because “mandate” means Trump didn't squeak by — he was sent. With permission. With support. With the will of a majority who silently said, “Get our house back.”From 2016 to 2020, identity politics went through ideological gain-of-function. The universities. The HR departments. K–12. White Fragility was published in 2018, just in time to spread a new form of mandatory compassion. Dissent was rebranded as violence. Tolerance became insufficient. You had to submit.COVID was the trigger — the mask over the mouth, and the curriculum into the bloodstream. America tolerated it — until it didn't.And that's where the MAGA mandate hit: not to debate, but to reverse. To enforce a reality many believed they'd lost. Trump isn't there to convince. He's there to reset. This piece is published on Juneteenth, during Pride Month. That matters. Because even amid backlash, we recognize what's been fought for — and what still deserves dignity. But we also need to name the tension: America is a house, and right now, everyone thinks they own the deed. The whistle didn't work. The cops have been called. And the basement is under new management.—Chris AbrahamWhat is the MAGA Mandate?Cultural Gain-of-FunctionFinal Bow
Mother and Member: Mary and the Birth of the Church Today's Readings explore the profound mystery and significance of the Blessed Virgin Mary . . . . . . as both Mother of God and Mother of the Church, whose motherhood is unlike any other. Mary is presented by God as the answer to the fall of Eve . . . a woman who, through divine grace, gives birth to life rather than death. While Eve's disobedience ushered in sin, exile, and mortality, Mary's faithful “yes” to God ushers in the Savior and a new family of redeemed sons and daughters. At the foot of the Cross, Jesus entrusts the beloved disciple to Mary, symbolically extending her motherhood to all believers. She is the City of God, the dwelling place where God's people find spiritual refuge. Through her, by the power of the Holy Spirit, believers are adopted into divine life and the Church is born. Mary's motherhood, then, is not only physical but deeply spiritual and universal . . . she is both Mother and Member of the Church, nurturing believers toward eternal life. Listen to: Mother and Member: Mary and the Birth of the Church ------------------------------------------------------------------ A Quote from the Homily To understand Our Lady, one must be willing to pause a moment and consider a pair of impossibilities because the essence of her person, the essence of how the church celebrates her, hinges on our ability to recognize that the impossible by the working of God does in fact become possible. And one of the privileged places where that happens is the life of the blessed mother. She is mother and she is virgin. She gives birth and remains a virgin. She is perpetually virgin and yet she is gloriously mother. She is a creature and yet she bears within her womb, her creator, and brings him to human birth. A creature giving birth to her creator. A mother. And a virgin, and then mysteriously as well. Our Lady is a mother of the church. The mother of the church, and yet she's also a member of the church. Virgin and mother. Mother and member, a creature who gives birth. To her creator. Note how mysteriously wonderful. All of this is possible only because of the divine agency of Almighty God, and it is these things that are enclosed within the readings that are presented to us today on the feast day of The Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of The Church. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Pentecost: Stain Glass: The Church of St. Therese of Lisieux – Roman Catholic Parish in Montauk, New York ------------------------------------------------------------------ Gospel Reading: John 19: 25-34 First Reading: Genesis 3: 9-15, 20

From a hidden military base in Long Island to theories that inspired Stranger Things, we explore the origins of the legend, the key figures involved, and the enduring fascination with what may (or may not) have happened beneath Camp Hero. Our Links:Retrospect
Welcome to WATG? We're diving back into the rabbit hole with the second installment of our Operation Paperclip deep dive. This week, we're peeling back the layers of history's biggest "science fair gone wrong," exposing how Nazi scientists were recruited by the U.S. government for rocket science, biological warfare, and psychological research. Was it all for the greater good, or just a convenient way to whitewash some seriously shady pasts? We tackle the ethics, the cover-ups, and the creepy connections between power and the occult. Welcome to Botched: A D&D Podcast! The SCP Foundation has just opened a new site and they want to test out some of the features to make sure that it is running the best that it can! This site happens to be Site 69, the site from Season 8, though maybe not exactly the same site since that was an alternate universe. The researchers are testing the rooms when they discover that there is a member of the 05 council touring the facility as well! However, someone else seems to know this too, as the site is attacked by Children of the Scarlet King cultists! This is a fantastic opportunity to try to capture a leader of the cult, so that creepy Dr. Montauk gets off their back for a little while. Though, that may be easier said than done since not everything at this site is exactly what it appears.Who are the researchers at Site 69? Why does this cult want an 05 Council member? Will they be able to thwart the cultists? Why is there so much netting all over the place on this site? tune in and find out!We now have a PO Box! Wanna send us something? Welcome to Botched: A D&D Podcast! Phil is back! He definitely wasn't mad about that whole mangy Phil cat thing.Dr. Montauk has called the main researchers in. He wants cultists from the Children of the Scarlet King to interrogate. He thinks he may have a lead on some cultists operating out of a warehouse. The Foundation sends an MTF to take care of the cultists. Upon arriving, they find there is a shoot out with the police. After managing to capture one of the cultists and deal with the rest, it turns out these are not the right cultists. Instead, they seem to be worshipping some large metal pig.Who is this cult? Why are they worshipping a metal pig? What, if any, anomalous properties does it have? What's with all these notes? Why does Dennis hate all of Phil's characters? Esperanza and Irwin discuss the preservation of Barcelona Neck and The Grace Estate in East Hampton's Northwest Woods. The land was bought for $6.3 million from collector Ben Heller in 1985 after a referendum, the largest and most expensive public land purchase ever undertaken here at the time. The Nature Conservancy contributed $500,000 to the cost. Randall Parsons, who, in his former post as an East Hampton Town councilman, was instrumental in negotiating the purchase described at the time a Town at the crossroads. "There were subdivision applications in on Barcelona Neck [across Northwest Harbor], the Grace Estate, and Hither Hills in Montauk. It was the first time that people really rose up and said this is not what we want" The purchase was made after a prolonged public debate. Opponents argued against borrowing so much money, saying that if the Grace Estate were developed, town zoning laws would sufficiently limit development at far less expense. But fast forward 40 years, and imagine this much acreage with houses, condominiums and...

The latest in the Express Sessions panel discussion series,“ The South Fork's Bounty, on Land and at Sea,” was held on May 8 at Inlet Seafood in Montauk. Suffolk County has the fourth-largest agricultural sales in New York State, and it is first in aquaculture. In both cases, the farms and waters of the South Fork play an important role in providing food for the region, state and nation. In March, county officials said they are preparing to seek bids on a new government-supported seafood processing facility — and Inlet Seafood in Montauk is one potential location. The discussion brought together key players in the movement toward more sustainable agriculture and aquaculture based on the South Fork. The conversation focused on the challenges they face, the facilities needed to keep the produce and seafood headed to markets, and the outlook for the region's continued success as a supplier for dinner tables, not to mention new markets for products such as kelp. The panel included K.C. Boyle, co-owner, Dock to Dish; Layton Guenther, director, Quail Hill Farm; Amanda Merrow, co-owner, Amber Waves Farm; Wes Peterson, owner, Montauk Seafood Company, member, Dock to Dish; and Jason Weiner, co-owner, Almond Restaurant. It was moderated by Express News Group Executive Editor Joseph P. Shaw. Reporter Michael Wright, Co-Publisher Gavin Menu and Shaw share highlights from the Express Sessions conversation and add their analysis.

What's up Bros? This is a great season of Summer House. In this episode, Paige deals with major anxiety as the Craig situation is clearly coming to a head. Jesse and Lexi get into an argument because Jesse didn't like how Lexi was "flirting" with West... This dude needs to reel it in. Yesterday. West has one of his more relatable episodes as he nurses a hangover from hell. Carl broke the streak up in Montauk last weekend and he and Ciara continue to... bond? Imrul rubs the house the wrong way with the repeat ladies staying over. We agree, maybe play some away games pal. Is there more to him? can we call bad edit? Time will tell. Jesse takes the group to the Hope Lodge at the American Cancer Society in a touching scene that was overshadowed by Jesse "joking" with Ciara not to touch him. This seemed like the last straw for Ciara and hopefully she moves on from these Bravo dudes. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Se dice que en Montauk, Nueva York, se llevaron a cabo experimentos secretos relacionados con viajes en el tiempo.
