Neil Manthorp is joined by the former England fast bowler Steve Harmison to look back at the 2023 Ashes series, as England and Australia share a thrilling 2-2 draw after five brilliant Tests. They pay tribute to Stuart Broad after he announced his retirement from the game, and discuss what next for Jimmy Anderson, and whether he should have also retired. The Nottinghamshire Head Coach Peter Moores joins us to discuss what it was like working with Broad, and we also debate how Australia would be feeling after only retaining the Ashes. The former Kent batter Dave Fulton joins us to raise awareness for Iggy's Fund, a charity set up after the passing of the former England bowler Alan Igglesden, and we discuss Yorkshire's sanctions for their handling of the Azeem Rafiq racism scandal. Erik Golts and Dave Fulton of the band Møtrik are my guests. Møtrik is on the front lines of a krautrock revival. The band's origin can be traced back to a drunken conversation about the genre. And it's really funny to listen as the memories come flooding back to Dave and Erik as we go through the band's history. They give me a really good lesson on krautrock and what drew them to it in the first place. Møtrik has also gone through a few changes; like starting off as an instrumental band and then adding lyrics as they grew. They tell me how they one up Kraftwerk and how a conversation with artist Jonas Hartley about fog machines led to a unifox. At one point, my dog interrupts us and I make Erik feel bad about photographing an album cover. Follow Møtrik @motrikband on Instagram. Order the new album, Moon from bandcamp or their label, Jealous Butcher. Follow us @PerformanceAnx on all the socials. Comic, Climber, Father, Blue-Eyed Wonder Dave Fulton joins Al in the podcast arena to discuss the elation he finds from having an extreme hobby. Dave accidentally wanders into a metaphor for life that gets Al all kinds of excited to explore, he talks about adopting his son and how this adjusted his outlook on his own happiness and his son's potential for happiness. Dave also explains how it's taken a long time, but how he feels increasingly happy being simply "content" as opposed to constantly chasing after things that supposedly make him happy. There are a few people who represent "Great Producer" to me in the electronic music world. These people have great taste, work with great people, and have a vision for their work that seems laser-guided. I consider Dave Fulton to be one of these people. As a founder of the group Dweller At The Threshold, he was responsible for some of the albums that reignited my interest in classic electronic music, while his solo work took me to darker (and perhaps more interesting) places. Dave is a long-time modular user, and we talk a bit about the influence (and practicalities) of modular synths, but we also dive into "playing in a band as a practice", the pecularities of Portland and even the politics of radio. It is a wide-ranging discussion that is one of my favorite chats ever. Enjoy!
Dave Fulton returned to the United States, and more specifically, to Minneapolis. Always full of great stories, Dave tells his favorite Bob Hoskins story (spoiler: it involves Who Framed Roger Rabbit), explains why he considers his success as a "Happy Accident", and tells a story about encountering a fan from Acme who came to see him perform in London five weeks ago! In this edition, Dave Fulton inadvertently reveals the polyerotic undertones of being caught in an avalanche when a discussion of the Winter Olympics goes off-piste; Jonny and the Baptists share some of their fanmail from UKIP, while Alistair Barrie channels the party's soul with uncanny and chilling accuracy. Phill Jupitus and Ben Norris offer insight on why the British are not inclined to rebel, and Viv Groskop and Nick Revell try different ways of making sense of the situation in Ukraine.

Dave Fulton and Steve 'Gibbon' Gribbin - In the last days Rich has seen the world's most urchiny children and the poshest baby ever and there's a young man with a bow tie in the front row today. Perhaps he is asleep and dreaming all this. Today's guest is ex drug dealer and grave robber Dave Fulton who climbs up frozen waterfalls for fun. He also has an incredible story about Richard from 1999 that the womanising drunkard Somerset comedian has no memory of. It's a goodie though. The two men, with fifty years' worth of comedy experience between them, have some serious things to say about the business of making people laugh, but there's plenty of funnies too. And another golden oldie with more than a quarter of a century's experience is on hand to give us five minutes of his act, the exuberant Steve Gribbin. This show is so different every day. Hope you're enjoying it as much as we are.
Tom travels to London to do shows and talk with his comedian friends Shazia Mirza and Dave Fulton.
