Moderator: Kreshnik GashiSigla: Atdhe Hoda#PërtejEkstremizmit #Ekstremizmi #Ballkani

Mirza Hadi Ruswa recounts in the preface of his novel, Umrao Jaan Ada, how he came to write the story of a courtesan from Lucknow. His friend Munshi Ahmad Hussain had rented a floor in a chowk in Lucknow and this is where he organised mushairas for his friends. Next to his house lives a most mysterious woman who is never seen, but sometimes late at night she can be heard singing. Once at a mushaira hosted by Munshi, Ruswa recites a couplet and a soft voice from next door exclaims, “wah! Wah!”. The mysterious lady invites Ruswa to her home and turns out to be Umrao Jaan Ada who Ruswa had known many years ago. She then proceeds to narrate her story to Ruswa, which then became the famous novel, Umrao Jaan Ada.
In this episode, hosts John Reade and Joe Cavatoni from the World Gold Council interview Sakhila Mirza, Deputy Chief Executive and General Counsel at the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) to learn more about the LBMA's role in the global gold and precious metals industries. Sakhila provides a detailed overview of the LBMA's role as a membership organisation for participants in the Loco London Precious Metals Market. She outlines their standards including the Good Delivery List, the Global Precious Metals Code and the Responsible Gold Guidance. The conversation then moves on to how technology and the GBI programme can support greater transparency across the gold supply chain. Finally, Sakhila, John and Joe dive into the LBMA's sustainability and responsible sourcing programme, which includes a discussion on the Gold Principles Group and pan-industry initiatives, International Bullion Centres, and artisanal and small-scale gold mining. [1.20] Who is the LBMA and what is their role in the global precious metals industry? [5.03] LBMA Membership requirements and the Global Precious Metals Code [9.46] Sakhila provides an overview of the Gold Bar Integrity Programme [16:24] LBMA's gold industry-focused initiatives [24:08] How the LBMA is addressing challenges in the artisanal and small-scale gold mining sector [27:39] Sakhila shares a fun fact about gold Additional Resources: www.gold.org https://www.lbma.org.uk/ Gold Bar Integrity Notable Quotes: “We are a membership-based organisation, but we have the ability to self-regulate, so what that means is if a refiner does not meet that criteria, does not meet those standardised rules that we have for every refiner, the LBMA has enforcement powers, which means that that refiner is removed from the Good Delivery List.” -Sakhila Mirza “We have a Global Precious Metals Code. This was something that the LBMA held the pen on when it came to drafting the Global Precious Metals Code, and is enforced by the LBMA and every member must attest to the code… From the LBMA perspective, it's a code that applies to the entire industry, whether you're a member of the LBMA or not.” -Sakhila Mirza “We announced earlier this year, in March of 2024, that the LBMA will be launching the LBMA GBI database.” -Sakhila Mirza “As you said, 20% of the overall supply is ASM (artisanal small-scale mining). If you take that 20%, less than 2% is going through the LBMA refiners. Where is the rest going?” -Sakhila Mirza About World Gold Council We are a membership organisation that champions the role gold plays as a strategic asset, shaping the future of a responsible and accessible gold supply chain. It was only a matter of time before I formalised the art of hypnosis into Feel Good Hypnosis, helping people overcome anxiety, depression and many life changing issues through the use of hypnosis, NLP, Provocative Change Work, IEMT, EFT and many other related tools to improve the quality of peoples lives.Given my name is Turan and, I'll be the first to admit it, not everyone knows how to pronounce it, not to mention my surname Mirza, when it came to setting up a business I wanted an easy to say name that communicated what I did. At the time it was not just myself, as I said Jonathan was with me and Daryl was starting to learn from us. So I did not want to call the business “Turan Mirza Hypnosis” or “Turan and Son's Hypnosis”, I'm a proud father and they do sound nice to me but in this modern world of the internet I wanted something people could spell without checking. Hence we created “Feel Good Hypnosis”.If you are speaking to me and you're not sure how to say my name, firstly I respond to anything as I'm used to a range or pronunciation. But I advise people to phonetically pronounce Turan as ‘2-ran' and Mirza as Meer-za. Hypnosis Around the World I have hypnotised people in a wide range of locations from Las Vegas and Houston Texas, to Edinburgh Scotland and all over Northern Ireland. Training Others I now teach others how hypnosis works and how they can use it to improve their lives and others. You can see some images here of others learning and you can see a short video of hypnosis training in action if you click on the image.Check out my training page for full details on how you can learn this wonderful skill. How did I get started? My interest in hypnosis started many years ago, starting as merely a curiosity after performing a few simple magic tricks for my four children. While researching a trick I came across hypnosis. As I learned more and more, starting to attend professional training, I entertained at personal social events like family birthday parties and at Christmas. It was at this time Jonathan joined me in entertaining people. It was not long before word spread and we were asked to perform at events. When did you move from hypnotist to hypnotherapist? As our popularity grew we were asked more and more about the good hypnosis could do to change peoples lives - “can you help me stop smoking?” or “I'm having trouble sleeping, can you help?”. It was at this point that my interest in the change work side of hypnosis evolved. Learning different techniques for working with adults and children, and studying and becoming certified in specialist areas like Sexual Freedom Hypnosis and Dental Hypnosis, known as Hypnodontics. I have trained with many of the top names in hypnosis both in entertainment and change work / therapy Adam's course Hypnotic Wealth can be found here: https://www.adamcox.co.uk/hypnotic-wealth.html Coming Soon - The Hypnotists's Secret Circle: Adam will soon be launching a new low-cost membership to access his entire hypnosis archive without the intro, outro, and explanation and an exclusive community only for members. If what our culture most urgently needs is for a critical mass of us to grow into adults and then elders, how can we help our young people to step beyond the artificial boundaries of our old, rigid system into a world where they are fully connected to all parts of themselves, each other and the web of life. How, in effect, can we create an educational system that is fit for purpose in the emerging century? In this podcast, I joined with Tim Logan, host of the Future Learning Design podcast, educator, part of the team at Good Impact Labs and co-leader of the International Baccalaureate's 'Festival of Hope'. Tim is a highly experienced school leader, management consultant, coach, educator and researcher, has held previous pedagogical and well-being senior leadership positions in a variety of international settings and is proud to have consistently helped to build innovative, outstanding schools, supportive relationships and powerful educational visions. He says, 'The important question for now is, can we intentionally create more spaces in our schools that provide a qualitatively different kind of 'educational' experience? Transformational shifts are happening in educational and organisational cultures around the world right now. I am incredibly fortunate to be able to play a role in this.'I was on the Future Learning Design podcast just before the dark nights of winter with Ginie Servant-Miklos, Raïsa Mirza and Will Richardson and his podcast has become one of my essential listens of the week and had been planning to invite Tim here to talk about the transformational shifts happening in education and how they can help us lay the foundations for a world we'd be proud to leave behind. We were planning something for later in the year but we had a cancellation and he had a tech misfire and we both needed something fast to get the schedules back on track, so here we are with a joint conversation—one of those that ranges wide over the landscape of culture and learning and the 'citadel mind' and our history of optimising for everything and how we could, instead, begin to expand into a more porous mindset and look for resonance and help young people to become part of the emerging transformation of the entire web of life. The inspiration for this end-of-year impromptu gathering came from a recent flurry of ‘Collapse'-inspired exchanges in my (un)social media feeds! This was prompted largely by Ginie Servant Miklos' recently published and brilliant book, Pedagogies of Collapse: A Hopeful Education for The End of The World as We Know It (quoted in the title of the episode) and Will Richardson's equally provocative and inspiring, Confronting Education In a Time of Complexity, Chaos and Collapse. As regular listeners will know, this podcast is really focused on the need for radical and systemic change in ways that would be more loving, humanising, nourishing…, not just in education, but in all spheres of our lives. But seeing all of this Collapse chat, the question I was left with was something about the ‘how' of inviting people towards this change. It made me think of this powerful quote from Adam Curtis: "We've retreated into a sense that there's always a new apocalypse on the horizon; it's a terrible teddy bear that the bourgeois greens hug to themselves and say, “We're all going to die, it's terrible.” That's not the way you change the world. In fact, it frightens people, and when people are frightened they don't want change. It's one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. Of course, there are serious issues. And of course, they're incredibly dangerous. But fear is the last resort of those who've failed to mobilise people to transform the world for the better. I get grumpy about this because it's almost cowardly.” (https://crackmagazine.net/article/profiles/adam-curtis-nathalie-olah-interview/) So Manda Scott, Raïsa Mirza, Will Richardson, Ginie Servant-Miklos and I gathered yesterday to talk about all of this and more! Raïsa Mirza - https://raisamirza.com/ ; https://www.linkedin.com/in/raisamirza/ Raïsa is a Bangladeshi-Canadian photographer, educator, designer, facilitator and social entrepreneur. She is currently Head of Social Impact Initiatives & Lighthouse Changemaker Hub and Systems Transformation teacher (https://www.uwcatlantic.org/learning/academic/systems-transformation-pathway) at UWC Atlantic College, Wales. In 2014, the self-styled Islamic State committed genocide against the Yezidi population in Iraq. To mark the anniversary of the genocide, Dr Inna Rudolf speaks to renowned Yezidi human rights advocate Mirza Dinnayi about what life is like for the Yezidi community 10 years on from the genocide. Inna and Mirza discuss justice and accountability, the geopolitical situation in the Yezidis' ancestral homeland, and what still needs to be done to support the community as they deal with a legacy of discrimination that precedes the atrocities of 2014. In celebration of the 1st year Anniversary of the Dr Sophia, ObGyn podcast, Touseef shares her favorite episode from the past year “To endure or not to endure.” On this podcast, we openly explore why it is that women may not seek certain medical care or treatment in order to not feel pain and/or to feel better. Is it a rational decision? Does it stem from conditioning? Or something else? For example, we discuss menopause and hormone replacement treatment, giving birth and getting an epidural, as well as having extreme bleeding during periods and whether or not to raise this issue with your doctor or ObGyn. I believe it's important to consciously reconnect with who we are so that we can have agency over ourselves and our bodies. I am joined with my co-host and good friend, Touseef Mirza.
Mirza Grebovic joins us to share the journey of obtaining a career in the automotive industry in Detroit. He also shares some details behind the Blackwing projects that led to some of the greatest Cadillacs ever made.

When Islamic State (IS) militants took control of Syria and Iraq in June 2014, the entire Yazidi population in Sinjar were immediately in grave danger. The Sunni Muslims of IS believed Yazidis were infidels and should either convert to Islam or be killed. On 3 August 2014, 5,000 Yazidis were killed on the first day of the genocide. For those who survived that night, the only escape route was to climb Mount Sinjar in the blistering heat, with no shelter or food, and pray to be rescued. Mirza Dinnayi convinced Iraq's president to supply three helicopters and began evacuating 50,000 Yazidis, who were stranded on top of the mountain in a race against time. Mirza shares his experience with Sarah Ehrlich. A 2 Degrees West production for BBC World Service.(Photo: Yazidi people escape the Sinjar mountains in August 2014.
