Our guest today is an England legend, and all-round top bloke (although some Australians may disagree)... it's Stuart Broad! He's here to tell us about the weird and wonderful world of Cricket. Why are you allowed two meal breaks during a game? Why does it sometimes take five days and it's still a draw? And what happens when a cricket ball hits you in the face at 90mph? Gday Prairians and Welcome to Club Prairie Fire, Season 9 episode 9. We are super fond of tequila, Tabasco and the Duckworth Lewis Stern System. This episode I am calling… “Vaughany's prediction was right… at least on our show.” That's right folks, 3-1 the mighty Australians have defeated India to claim the border Gavaskar trophy and our super soothsayer Michael “the 5th day sucks” Vaughan predicted it. What he didn't predict was the epic spice that the series and in particular the 3 day, yes your heard it right, 3 day 5th test would toss up. Not that long ago people were saying test match cricket was dull and boring, well hasn't that turned around. Find another sport where 19 year olds with poorly formed patchy moustaches pick fights with the best bowler and the once best batsmen in the world. Let us say it loud and proud…Test match Cricket is back baby! TIME STAMPS: 00:00 - Introductions 02:56 - India were the moral winners 04:38 - Are the ICC listening to the show? 06:50 - Who came up with the two tier Test Cricket idea, was it KP, Michael Holding or Vaughany? 10:25 - How the divisions would work 14:50 - CATO Story - Which Big Bash game should the Barmy Army go to in the off week? 19:01 - Virat Kohli and Stuart Broad bring up sandpaper gate again… 23:08 - Sam Konstas BIG moments - hand gestures, face-off with Bumrah and aggressive batting 32:47 - Big Beau Webster debut 38:07 - The future for Indian Cricket including the next captain 43:14 - Why was Sunil Gavaskar not doing the trophy presentation? 45:20 - The quiz Thanks for watching and remember to like and subscribe as well as follow us @clubprairiefire on all social media channels and don't forget to join our discord channel for extra bonus content - www.clubprairiefire.com.au. Dressed by our mates @BudgySmuggler We're back with Budgy Smuggler to pump up their new underwear campaign. Australia's Most Ordinary Rig Josh Clutterbuck and the NRL's Hottest player Herbie Farnworth front the campaign for Australia's most comfortable underwear. The code GRADE has been set up for a tasty 23% off our underwear and apparel and is valid until the end of June. Bradman's house is for sale, cricket's on Amazon, the World Cup's in America (partly), Jimmy Anderson is going to stop playing and Jimmy Bartel's on the show. Fair to say the game's changing. TGC's back for a run during the World Cup, so we start by discharging our takes on weeks-old news. Things like hosting a bucks at Bradman's childhood home, disgraceful news-breaking around Jimmy's retirement, and questioning why the Aussies are still talking about Bairstow. The IPL has finished – absolutely gutted. Zampa says he gets a bigger buzz from international cricket. Another disgrace. Dizzy says grade cricket in SA is selfish. Very out-of-touch. Triple premiership player Jimmy Bartel joins the show: he wants to talk cricket, we want to talk Harley Reid. ESPN Cricinfo's Alex Malcolm then balances matters with high-level insight into the World Cup. He talks structuring and match-ups, we talk tunnels and testicles. It's a (Stuart) Broad church, and it knows what it's doing. Great to be back. Following in the footsteps of the likes of Brian Lara, Richie Benaud, Stephen Fry and Andrew Strauss, The Tailenders assembled at Lord's to deliver the 2024 Cowdrey Lecture. Greg, Jimmy and Felix were joined on stage by guests Stuart Broad, Isa Guha and Mark Nicholas.
Eddie Hearn talks to cricket legend Stuart Broad. He shares his journey as a professional athlete, his mental strategies in cricket, lessons on success, and his parents' influence. His mother was determined to keep the game fun for him at all times irrespective of results, making him very much at home in a team led by Brendan McCullum that put an entertaining playing style and positive attitude ahead of winning.Broad says he scoffed when his father, Chris, told him Test match cricket was 80 percent mental – but now believes that was an underestimate. And he tells Eddie how writing down his feelings and concerns about the day ahead helps him take action to keep focused; about the importance of staying in the moment, and about setting new goals for himself now he's retired.

We start this week's episode with a Crows Feet review of Stuart Broad's comments amid the chaos of Lord's, while promoting his new book. He's good, isn't he? The World Cup remains India's to lose, but are Australia showing signs of resurgence to the point where they could jag this thing? Season 2, Ep 3: Reloading lost episodes from the early Final Word. Proof of concept. That's what it was all about in 2015, when Australia hosted New Zealand in Adelaide for the very first day-night Test. The pink Kookaburra survived, then prospered, in a contest that was suffocatingly close from start to finish. The bowling was hot, the batters had to survive, and an all-time umpiring mistake had an outsized influence. Peter Siddle, Mitchell Santner, and a couple of Marshes were prominent. It was over in three days and nights, but it started something new. We also had time to discuss a bit of Olympic archery, the lost chance of a seven-Test summer, some top-level condescension, and even back then, the gold standard for opponents who annoy supporters was Stuart Broad. We review the recently concluded five-Test series between England and Australia that ended 2-2 - with Australia retaining the Ashes. It was a series defined by England's 'Bazball' approach to batting - though that undersells how well Australia's batters resisted English bowling and how well Australia bowled in largely batting-friendly conditions. https://ko-fi.com/81allout Talking Points: A neutral view of the Ashes - and how it is hard to pick a team to support The limits of Bazball - and why England's recent success stems from their bowling depth Australia's bowlers adjusting to the flat pitches and England's risk-taking Why did England not want to prepare seamer-friendly pitches at home and capitalise on their big strength? After an epic Men's Ashes series, the Tailenders salute Stuart Broad - one of England's greatest ever players - as he signs off from cricket in the way only he can. Plus, Greg and Fe have an important, if somewhat surprising, announcement, and an appeal to the Tailenders listeners for help with a new 'spin off' show.
Ashwin and DJ discuss the first two ODIs of India's tour of the Windies. The series is tied 1-1. We also discuss the Ashes, Stuart Broad's retirement and Harmanpreet's ban. #ashes #WIvInd #WIvsInd
The Ashes, 5th Test at The Oval, Day 5: IT IS OVER. We started the day with a chaseable target remaining for Australia. We stopped in the middle for a long time for rain. But either side of that, the series built to the kind of climax that it deserved. Steve Smith was there. So was Moeen Ali. Ben Stokes was involved. As was Travis Head. Chris Woakes did his thing. Todd Murphy was terrific. And at the end, of course, there he was: Stuart Broad. The Ashes, 5th Test at The Oval, Day 4: While we were recording the Day 3 Daily show, Stuart Broad decided to retire. Not a helpful piece of timing for podcasters, but very good timing for Broad, who explained his decision as eloquently as ever and has a strong rationale. One of the great Ashes competitors, amongst a far broader career that deserves to be recognised as well, we thought that Stuart Broad was worth an episode of his own. Thanks for all the fun over the journey. The Ashes, 5th Test at The Oval, Day 4: It was all about Stuart Broad as the fourth day started at The Oval, but not so much when the bowling began. Australia were supposed to be cooked, but not yet. Usman Khawaja and David Warner put on their best stand of the series before rain once again intervened. The Ashes, 5th Test at The Oval, Day 3: Halfway through the last Test of the series and Bazball was still blazing. Pat Cummins battled, Todd Murphy performed beyond his years, but this was England's day, with Crawley and Duckett starting off the top before Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow had their say. We have one, perhaps two, bumper days to come. And yes, Stuart Broad announced his retirement while we were recording this, so we didn't know. The Ashes, 5th Test at The Oval, Day 2: One team pushes ahead, the other pulls them back. So it has been all through this Ashes series. Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne had the go-slow. Stuart Broad got things moving. Steve Smith, was he run out or not? The umpires say no. Todd Murphy smokes some shots off Mark Wood. Pat Cummins is back in the runs. And by the end of day four we have a shootout.
