Tucked away in the forest surrounding the Ebensburg Municipal Authority's upper reservoir is Nathan's Divide Watershed Education Center. Dave Lester has dreamed of creating an outdoor destination for decades and in 2016 decided to make that dream a reality. Thus far, the center sports roughly five miles of trails and several educational programs for various ages. But he's not done. Lester has many more ideas for developing the area while also preserving the natural scenery. On this episode of Hiking the Highlands, the local man walks me through not only what he and numerous volunteers have accomplished to date but his hopes for the future. Zach and Dave have shared their stories about being a part of Mars Hill Church in past episodes so this is an exploration of the megachurch's history, teachings and culture. This is it, the John Moses worlds collide episode of the mulletcast where John's comedy crew meets his real estate team. We sit down with stand-up comic Dave Lester who emerged from the darkness 15 years ago and split the corporate world to develop his act on stages in Brooklyn and the boroughs. Dave's sharpening the conversations he's having with his audience as he prepares to record his comedy album live at NYC's Westside Comedy Club on June 13th. In addition to writing and producing Dave has appeared on TVONE's "Bill Bellamy's Who Got Jokes" and can be heard on SiriusXM. Dave is always one to give back to other comics whether its by sharing a stage or hosting his annual Prospect Park comedian softball tournament. John Moses tried to find the balance between comedy and home investment that makes sense for his career, his family, and his wallet. Now, he’s teaching other comics to do the same. In this episode we not only enjoy some of Dave's comedy, but we get a little preview of John's real estate conversation with Dave. Follow Dave Lester at www.facebook.com/Laugh.Provocateur & @davelester74 and get tix for Dave's album recording and show hosted by Jamie Roberts and featuring Kerry Coddett at www.westsidecomedyclub.com Whether or not a Moses divided can stand remains to be seen!
Tabletop role-playing games are possibly more popular now than ever before. The first truly popular RPG was Dungeons & Dragons, D&D, and more than 20 million worldwide have played it. But D&D is not the only game. In fact, individuals and small companies are creating their own RPG systems and releasing for sale. Dave Lester is making his own game system. Dave’s been a player of RPGs for almost 30 years. This episode is an excerpt of an oral history interview with him. In it I try to understand what keeps people hooked. Topic 2 - It’s been about a year since we talked about Mesos on the show. We’ve talked about Kubernetes a few times. Can you give us the basics of each of those technologies because sometimes people confuse them or think they are interchangeable or overlapping. Topic 3 - Let’s talk about Mesosphere and DCOS (Data Center Operating System). People talk about “durable and declarative” infrastructure for applications. How does DCOS accomplish this? Topic 4 - Mesosphere includes not only systems and schedulers for the underlying container infrastructure, but also application-level schedulers. What are the differences, and how does a development team vs. an ops team interact with Mesosphere? Topic 5 - What types of applications are you seeing Mesosphere customers running in this new environment? One thing we heard at VelocityConf was that there is work within Apache Mesos to look at adding support for stateful applications or stateful data - what’s the status of that?
Mike, Tommy and Kevin profile Lester/Dave Averman. They attempt to get to the bottom of the mystery of his first name, the mystery of his relationship with the team, the mystery of his life as a student at Eden Hall and more. Show notes: Gordon meeting the team and calling Averman, "Dave": Averman's "Hey batter" routine, turned into "Hum goalie", with some bonus Scandinavian-like subtitles: Here's the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry rules on minors under the age of 14 working. So Averman was working illegally, unless he was getting paid in candy like we said: Coach Orion's contentious start with Averman:
