"Netherlands is like a trampoline... You come here and see that we scout well, we may not pay the highest fees, then we further develop players. Those developed players move to bigger leagues. This is good as in transfer income, and that's how Dutch clubs live off a little bit."Herc sat down with Dennis te Kloese, Feyenoord's CEO, to discuss all things CONCACAF. The man has done it all and shared his experiences as a former executive for LA Galaxy, Chivas de Guadalajara, the Mexican Football Federation, and recently with Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie...

The term can mean anything from what the LA Galaxy did with Gyasi Zardes to what they're trying to do with a young player like Alex Alcala. So what does it mean to an organization like the Galaxy? On today's special edition of Corner of the Galaxy, host Josh Guesman is joined by LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese for over 60 minutes of youth development discussion. Josh and Dennis will cover topics that range from why scouting and development are different and what the goal for the club is when developing players. Why scouting is an essential part of the equation, and what it takes to make these ventures pay off? They'll also discuss how the landscape has shifted in MLS and why going to Europe to develop seems to be something of the past and not something of the future. What are the pitfalls of youth development for a young player, and why is it so important to have parental buy-in and parental education. And why the interests of the club can usually match the interests of the player. And Josh will even throw in some important questions at the end, just to make sure everyone makes it through the discussion. This is an unprecedented look into the theories and the thought processes behind the Galaxy's development system and what Dennis sees as the next steps for the program. It's also why he views it as unfinished business! A big thank you to Dennis for taking the time to talk to us about this subject. And yes, he is definitely messing with you on Instagram. But instead, about a minute before we went on air, LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese said he'd be available for some questions. He's candid, easy-going, and full of information you don't want to miss. Also, he should probably have his own podcast. The man is a genius when it comes to soccer, and we're glad we could touch bases with him. Next on the show, we throw it back a bit. That's where were joined by former LA Galaxy left-back Todd Dunivant. Todd is the General Manager at the Sacramento Republic and is trying to push that team into MLS. Todd will talk about the MLS Cup-winning teams he was on and what was so different about that day. He'll also let Josh make a short joke about Landon Donovan. It's a good joke, though. And joining the show to talk about the Galaxy's last win over Real Salt Lake, and what the Galaxy are trying to do in their remaining two games, is defender Dave Romney. Dave talks about the players' mindset and conditioning following a hectic September that isn't quite over yet. And Dave has his sights set much higher than just the playoffs. Finally, Galaxy legend Mike Magee calls in from Chicago to tell us all how he almost retired before joining the Galaxy in 2009. And also why he has his very own vodka. Something about winning bonuses, Landon Donovan, Omar Gonzalez, and alcohol.
COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- It's been really quiet the last couple of weeks. And the LA Galaxy still aren't any closer to finding out who will be their new head of soccer operations. But we may have our first peek behind the curtain as general manager target Dennis Te Kloese spoke exclusively to LA Times Soccer Reporter Kevin Baxter about the position and about his timeline. And Kevin wants to share that with you. Along with Josh Guesman, the guys are ready to get you back into the soccer swing of things. They'll discuss Te Kloese's timeframe for a decision and what that means for the Galaxy. The guys will also give you their thoughts on why Te Kloese might be worth waiting for and what waiting could mean for a club that is certainly running out of free days. With the first major offseason deadline quickly approaching, and with Zlatan Ibrahimovic watching every move -- or lack of a move -- while still negotiating with AC Milan about a possible January transfer, the Galaxy are under pressure like never before. Kevin will give you some theories on Ibrahimovic's contract and why clearing Designated Player space may be the first thing to bringing back the Swede. But the guys will also talk about what happens if Ibrahimovic decides the Galaxy haven't done enough. What ramifications could the Galaxy see if they don't get it right in 2019? What happens if they're not an MLS contending side? And what happens if Ibrahimovic departs and leaves the rest of the world with a poor view of the Galaxy? Plus, Jovan Kirovski was in Amsterdam. We'll tell you why he was there and what he said about Ibrahimovic. It's nothing new, but the pressure is definitely on! Thanks for listening and we hope everyone has a wonderful turkey day!
COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy held their last media availability for the 2018 season earlier this week and CoG went with our microphone ready. What we got was nearly an hour of audio from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Chris Klein, Ola Kamara, David Bingham, Sebastian Lletget, Jonathan dos Santos and Romain Alessandrini that gave us some idea of what these players are thinking heading into a long offseason. On today's show, your host Josh Guesman is ready to break down some of that audio and highlight some of the more important quotes that came from that. And in doing so he'll be able to break down the exit-interviews and give you some perspective on what the guys are saying and what that means for the future of the Galaxy. Josh will focus in on Ibrahimovic and Klein, spending most of the show letting you hear exactly what those two had to say. And being that the Galaxy seem to be focused on keeping Ibrahimovic, it's important to note how each of the guys handle the questions. The firing of Pete Vagenas wasn't a surprise, and it was probably overdue, but it's clear the club is trying to make him this season's sacrificial lamb. And that the reorganization that is now taking place is about a 12 months behind. But we'll provide you with the audio and you can make some of your own decisions on the responses that were given. Finally, Josh will update you on the hottest rumor surrounding the Galaxy's General Manager search. Dennis Te Kloese is a big name in Mexico and does have some history with Major League Soccer. Could he be the answer to the Galaxy's questions? We've got over 80-minutes of soccer talk headed your way! Are you ready for it?! Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory
