The season is now officially over and it`s ended with a win that leaves us 14th in the Premier League, above Tottenham and Man Utd which provides some consolation to what has been a really disappointing campaign. Dave & Ex talk about the game at Portman Road, more brilliance from Jarrodonna, why he isn't in the England squad, a nice send off for departing players, a possible goodbye from Paqueta and Kudus, scoring this season out of 10, players they would keep and sell and the final result of the Premier league predictions competition before getting news from Ex and answering questions from patrons of The West Ham Way….To unlock the full show and a range of other benefits, you need to be a Patron of The West Ham Way. In the final episode of our Liverpool Squad Talk series, we shift our focus to the attack - evaluating Liverpool's current forwards and analysing potential new signings ahead of the 2025/26 season under Arne Slot. With Mohamed Salah staying at the club, Liverpool still have one of the game's biggest match-winners. But question marks remain elsewhere.Darwin Núñez's long-term role is uncertain, Luis Díaz continues to be linked with a move away, Diogo Jota's injury record raises concerns, and while Cody Gakpo has been one of the most consistent performers, the squad may still need greater firepower and depth. Federico Chiesa, who joined last summer, has barely featured – will he finally make an impact or be moved on?But more importantly, who should Liverpool be targeting to elevate the attack? In this episode, we'll break down realistic transfer options that could fit the system, complement current players, and bring a new dynamic to the frontline.
Jack Elderton and Cal Goodall break down Liverpool 2-1 West Ham, a hard-fought loss for the Hammers away at Anfield which took the Reds one step closer to the Premier League title. A late winner from Virgil Van Dijk was all that separated the two sides after an own goal from Andrew Robertson had seemingly given Graham Potter's side hopes of leaving with a point, despite conceding early in the first half when Mohamed Salah assisted Luis Díaz to give Arne Slot's side the lead. Jack and Cal discuss all the goals from Sunday's game as well as the big chances for Jarrod Bowen to get on the scoresheet which were denied by Alisson, Lucas Paquetá putting in the kind of performance that showed why Man City wanted to sign him for £85m in the transfer window, what changed at half time to allow West Ham to dominate the second half, Oliver Scarles vs Mo Salah, how the Hammers set up to press Liverpool and force them to play direct, the effects of playing without a recognised striker on both West Ham's build up play and the likes of Bowen and Kudus specifically and much more.
Arsenal's 1-0 defeat to West Ham wasn't just a loss was a big one. A performance that left the Emirates crowd simmering in disbelief, watching the team unravel was sad. The defending? Shameful. The urgency? Buried under a mountain of sideways passes and tactical confusion. Bowen's goal. A cross from Wan-Bissaka that shouldn't have gone through, defenders ball-watching like a tourist. How does a backline that's prided itself on discipline switch off so catastrophically? Then there's the red card. Lewis-Skelly's challenge on Kudus was not worthy of a red card. VAR's insistence on upgrading it felt like punishment theater. If that's a clear goalscoring opportunity, then so is a coin toss. A yellow? Fair. But this decision reeked of pedantry over pragmatism. Odegaard's invisibility? Alarm bells. When Arsenal needed a conductor, he played the mute. Why did he not get aggressive with shooting? Questions lingering in the ashes: When did “control” become synonymous with cowardice? This was a bad day at the office with the blueprint ripped up and set ablaze. The crowd's disconnection from the players? Very odd. No synergy, no spark—just certain moments of coming alive and then groans of resignation. How does a team with this talent forget its identity so utterly? Crawl into the pod, let's flush out together. Then we regroup and push forward. On to the next!

Welcome dear listener to the latest episode. I'm Paul and I am joined by Daz. The Reds beat Leicester 3-1 last Thursday and played another tough one against West Ham on Sunday - just the 5 goals this time. We are at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand - 14 points clear of City, 9 from Arsenal (same games) and 10 from Chelsea. We'll review those games and then talk about the upcoming Premier League game against Man United plus a look around the league. Part One - Leicester City at home - xG 1.91 vs 0.34 Conceding early again, but it felt different. Lot of pressure, didn't necessarily count in xG ‘Abject' said James Pearce in the first half. Really… Maybe too many crosses, maybe a little too rushed. Second half - so much movement, Jones! 17 fouls against us to 5! With 68% possession. Szobo yellow card. Darren Bond doing a solid Coote/Oliver/Tierney impression. The VAR stuff was weird CSI in its intensity. Gakpo 2nd, Nunes doesn't touch the ball. Cody Gakpo and Mo's goals - woof! Part two - West Ham away - xG 3.09 to 0.32. 7 shots from West Ham, Sean Rogers tells us that title winning teams concede less than 10 on average. Difficult fixture for us this one - well at least on paper. Surprised the ground was so full at the end - assume they expected this. Started great, but West Ham were easy to play through. Areola started like Yashin and eventually reverted to the mean Luis Diaz finish, Joe Gomez injury, Kudus at 1-0, Then some Mo magic. Mac Allister with the most pressures (regain led to Mo's goal). Second half, unusually low key - Trent. Mo's 10 chances, the Jota goal…. Word on Antony Taylor - no cards, 10 fouls against us, and 7 against them. Part three - elsewhere and look ahead Man United on the horizon… they were actually abject in the first half against Newcastle, More on Mo Salah - Passed Beckham and Henry to be 10th for the all time EPL assists. One behind Thierry Henry for goals - 8th, could get to 4th by the end of the season. 8 games with a goal and an assist - most ever in the Premier League and he's got 20 games to go. NBC's Rebecca Lowe insistent that Mo is nowhere near the best player in the Premier League era - WTF But is he as good as Cole Palmer? Contracts - Bascombe, La Marca, AS We will be back January 13th ish with a review of United at home and the various cup games, looking ahead to 2 potentially season defining away games at Forest and Brentford. Thanks to Daz for joining me, Paul. And most of all, thank you dear listener for joining us. Wishing you all a Happy New Year If you enjoyed the pod, please share it with a friend. We didn't git the 30 goal threshold this weekend but we were treated with a weekend full of beauts. From Harry Wilson's Burt the Chimney Sweep's flick that inspired a very very late comeback, to Isak jumping into the stratosphere to put the Magpies ahead early we saw it all. The EPL action was also squeezed nicely between Carabao and European action to make us wonder what we ever do when the season ends. Despite hardly having a breather, plenty happened off the pitch, Kudus suspension was extended, Mendy got a fat pay check, and the Women's game is once again shadowed by the Men's. So come on out of your "Dark Place" Bernardo and crack open a cold one with friends to discuss the wild wins and losses from Match Week 10 and Champions League week 4.
