ORIGINAL AIR DATE: December 1st, 2016Sleep paralysis can be defined in several ways. In terms of the experiencer, it can be described as "a visitation by a malevolent creature which attacked its victims as they slept" (Cox). More clinically, sleep paralysis is understood as "a transient, conscious state of involuntary immobility occurring when falling asleep or upon wakening" (Cheyne, 2002). Research into sleep paralysis has produced compelling evidence that the phenomenon can be explained by brain chemistry and physiology in conjunction with REM sleep. But is that all there is to it? Hello Rank Squad!Welcome to the first of a new series here on Ranks FC - the Deep Dive. Every few weeks we're going to take a look into a specific club that interests us right now, for good, bad or indifferent. First off - Manchester United, who dominate the back pages with on and off-field actions right now. Dean ranks five things that are going to change once Sir Jim Ratcliffe is confirmed to have taken his 25% stake in the club, and control of the sporting wing. We discuss the power he will have, the potential appointment of Jean-Claude Blanc as new CEO, who will come in to be Director of Football, the security of Erik ten Hag's job, and the ins and outs that we can expect on this pitch in January and beyond. It's Ranks!
New Fergie Fledglins! Colin and Pauly are back to talk about another tight win for Manchester United, a 1-0 victory over Luton Town, and why this latest 1-0 win is as telling as the other close wins of the Erik ten Hag era. They unpack some of the noticeable trends in United's league form since the current boss took over, and why the recent “good” form might not be as nice as the current spin on it would indicate. They also go into United's upcoming fixtures, some of the ongoing issues with absences, injuries, and holes in the squad, as well as briefly look at early changes at the executive level with Sir Jim Ratcliffe on the way. As always, thank you for your continued support, and please be sure to hit that subscribe button, rate and review us, and give us a follow!

The former Spurs midfielder Jamie O'Hara has called for Ange Postecoglou to adapt after they conceded two late goals to lose 2-1 away to Wolves, with the club suffering back-to-back defeats for the first time this season. Man United boss Erik ten Hag says the signs are still positive after a 4th Premier League win in 5 games, whilst the Newcastle manager Eddie Howe says injuries are really hampering them this season following a 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth. Birmingham manager Wayne Rooney reflects on a 5th game without a win since taking charge of the club, and the England all-rounder David Willey reflects on his retirement following his last ever game for England in the Cricket World Cup. Manchester United… the most in-form team in the Premier League... apparently! It doesn't feel like it, but, somehow, that's four league wins in five games for Erik ten Hag's Reds. It was hardly convincing; United failing to convert some good chances again and going through another game without a forward scoring. Victor Lindelof was the unlikely match-winner in a one-goal home victory over Luton Town. Earlier in the week, we did see a forward score. And twice. Rasmus Hojlund continued to show his excellence on the European stage by putting United two ahead at his old club. A wonderful performance disrupted by a nonsensical refereeing decision, in the aftermath of which United crumbled a little. 2-2 and then back in front, a Fernandes penalty. But then behind again, 4-3. A gutting result after some really positive signs. So, lots to review from one win and one defeat on the latest episode of the Manchester United Weekly Podcast with hosts Harry Robinson and Jack Tait. We discuss the positive signs in midfield over the last three games and why Harry Maguire's excellent diagonal passes are a good sign, but also demonstrate something lacking in the side. Harry talks about his trip to Copenhagen and we play Guess the Player, give you the Academy Briefing and discuss Man Utd Women's start to the season.
