Elena Beelearts van Blokland vertelt over haar voorvader Theodore Bray. Wanneer Elena in zijn leven graaft, stuit ze op een onvermoed en nieuw verhaal: Bray was een slavenhouder in Suriname. Altijd al voelde Beelaerts van Blokland zich niet op haar gemak met haar status van freule. De ontdekking van deze voorvader maakt dat zij haar relatie tot haar adellijke naam opnieuw moet bezien. Ze besluit om op onderzoek te gaan en probeert een compleet beeld te schetsen van het plantageleven in Suriname. Hierover schreef ze het boek Ach freule. Op zoek naar de plantagehouder in mijn familie. Oud doelman Hans van Breukelen werd, net als topvoetballers Ruud Gullit en Marco van Basten, tijdens het EK van 1988 ondersteund door haptonoom Ted Troost. Hij was een spraakmakende verschijning die onlangs op 88-jarige leeftijd overleed. The European Championship final of 1988 will always be remembered for that goal by Marco van Basten, but beyond that, it was the day when Rinus Michels, architect of the Total Football that took the Netherlands so close to the summit in 1974, finally won a major international tournament. Dr David Turner relives that day, that goal and that trophy. 

Guillem Balague, Julien Laurens, James Horncastle and Raphael Honigstein recount their favourite moments from the European Championships. The team wax lyrical about some of the tournament's most iconic goals, from van Basten's volley to Trezeguet's golden goal winner in EURO 2000. That's balancing value delivery, improving capabilities, and building momentum which are all key to a successful long-term mesh implementation.When thinking about data mesh - or really any tech initiative - it's crucial to understand your starting state, not just your target end state. You need to adjust any approach to your realities and make incremental progress.?Controversial?: Relatedly, it's very important to define what success looks like. Doing data mesh cannot be the goal. You need to consider your maturity levels and where you want to focus and what will deliver value for your organization. That is different for each organization. Scott note: this shouldn't be controversial but many companies are not defining their mesh value bet…Even aligning everyone on your organization's definition of mesh success will probably be hard. But it's important to do.For a data mesh readiness assessment, consider where you can deliver incremental value and align it to your general business strategy. If you aren't ready to build incrementally, you aren't going to do well with data mesh.A common value theme for data mesh implementations is easier collaboration across the organization through data; that leads to faster reactions to changes and opportunities in your markets. Mesh done well means it's far faster and easier for lines of business to collaborate with each other - especially in a reliable and scalable way - and there are far better standard rules/policies/ways of working around that collaboration. But organizations have to see value in that or there...
