Grading Kyle Dubas as GM. Revisiting Luke Shenn's contributions to the Pens. An examination of how 2nd and 3rd round picks have fared over the past decade. It doesn't usually produce All-Stars. Do the Pens basically need a generational talent for a rebound to work? Would we apply the same standard for Cherington as Dubas? Breaking news: the Seahawks GM admitted he's taking offers for DK Metcalf, and the Steelers have been linked. The guys struggle to decipher who to credit for the initial report. It doesn't seem like he wants to be in Pittsburgh, though. Cody Glass on the move. A discussion of Corsi and Tommy Novak. Hal Gill joins to discuss his Pens memories, "the piece", his evaluation of the Pens trades, Crosby superstition stories, what he did with the Stanley Cup. Poni shares a Gill story. The Pens have made a lot of trades, but we await word on Rakell. Is it better to keep him and help Sid? Is Rakell the team MVP? Detailing Just Friends and applying it to the Pens. Brad Marchand on the move. Rakell stays. Rakell stays in Pittsburgh. Mullys is not a fan upon further reflection. Calls on the deadline. Can the Pens still contend with Crosby/Malkin? Do the fans believe in Dubas to make the right moves? Hexall was a trojan horse. Would Crosby want to be traded? He owes the NHL nothing. Johnny the Barber calls in. More calls on Rakell. One caller says it's a bad idea to keep him, but a worse idea to trade him. Jeff is South Park seems downtrodden, and is ok with keeping Rakell. Conor Timmons is heading to Pittsburgh. Will he bring hardness? Mark Kaboly joins to discuss the possibility of neither Russ nor Fields returning. What is the max the Steelers would go on Fields? We steal a free association from Starkey for Steelers QB options. Is there a Kyle Allen front? Who is the favorite to sign Fields if not the Steelers? Fish fry discussion. Kaboly hates sushi, wine, and many things it seems. Jonathan Allen was cut loose. Could he be the answer for the Steelers in the short term? How about Darius Slay? Will the Steelers actually trade for a real WR? Inflation will change how the contracts look this offseason. Arthur Smith reportedly was the top choice for UNC. Is there any chance Najee returns? Playboy discussion and Chyna at a strip club. Kaboly 3 free agent predictions for the Steelers - Slayton, DJ Reed, Dobbins. Poni was distracted by looking at Sable's Playboy. Rakell could be a key for Crosby's potential milestone. Do we feel better about the team now after the deadline? He gets an A for today. Have any of us been to a billionaires' house? On the weekly Chipped Ham & Football podcast, host Adam Bittner welcomes Ed Bouchette, former Steelers insider for the Post-Gazette and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, to react to the team's 2024 season and where it goes from here. Is Mike Tomlin closer to a messy exit like Chuck Noll? Or a Super Bowl-winning revival like Bill Cowher? How would Dan Rooney have handled the team's current playoff wins drought differently than son Art Rooney II as owner, if at all? And is Tomlin's long tenure more about loyalty? Or belief in doing business the way ownership would like to? Ed tackles those questions, then weighs in on roster issues. Why does he prefer Justin Fields over Russell Wilson or outside options at quarterback? What are his feelings about WR George Pickens and whether GM Omar Khan should explore trading him this offseason? Is it time to break up the defensive core of Cam Heyward, T.J. Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick? And why does Ed like Joey Porter Jr. and Keeanu Benton as young players who can grow into bigger roles? Then our duo wraps the show with some Hall of Fame talk with a focus on Hines Ward and James Harrison.

What do we think of Cole Holcomb as a new inside linebacker for the Steelers? The guys checked out the good and bad with the new LB.  HOF Steelers insider Ed Bouchette joined the show. Ed commented on the Steelers moves so far in free agency. Ed likes the decision to bring back Damontae Kazee even if it means departing with Terrell Edmunds. Ed talked about Kevin Dotson being in the doghouse and that he wants to see the left side of the line overhauled. Ed said the Steelers certainly need to improve on inside linebacker, but doesn't think it gets addressed in the first two rounds. Ed thinks a receiver is attractive early in the draft. Ed reminded the guys that Andy Weidl probably had a lot of say in the free agent signings because he's the bigger football guy, with Omar Khan being the star administrator.

In this Friday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers, and that includes talk about inside linebacker Marcus Allen recently signing his restricted free agent tender.Recent comments made by Ed Bouchette and Gerry Dulac these past few days results in Alex and me talking even more about the 2022 quarterback draft class and specifically as it relates to the Steelers.Alex has presented his shot list of draft hopefuls that history says could wind up being the Steelers first round selection this year, so we go over that list of names. We also talk about which position is most likely to be the pick in the first round for the Steelers in two weeks if a quarterback is not ultimately the selection.Alex has started his annual “Look For” study, so we go over his Friday post in that series related to the cornerback position. We also cover a few players that just missed.Later in the show, Alex and I tear through the latest mock draft that was released on Thursday by Dane Brugler of The Athletic. We then close out this show by answering several listener questions we received via the email machine.
