The Steelers are apparently getting fed up with Aaron Rodgers not signing yet. Why hasn't the old quarterback signed a contract with the Steelers yet? Why haven't the Steelers publicly stated they have no problem waiting for him? They have two quarterbacks who have never played in the NFL before and Mason Rudolph. They should be able to admit they're okay with waiting for him.

May 1, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 130 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers and their decision to not pick up the fifth-year option on OT Broderick Jones this offseason. We also discuss whether that decision would have been different had Jones not gotten injured last season. Steelers WR Roman Wilson is reportedly changing his jersey number this offseason, so Alex and I go over that news in addition to a few other number changes that have apparently been made so far this offseason. In the middle of this show, Alex and I go over the latest salary cap update for the Steelers on the heels of the team's draft haul and the unrestricted free agent tendering of QB Aaron Rodgers. We also discuss the effective future salary cap space the Steelers now have and if the team will ultimately need to restructure a contract or two later in the offseason. With the annual NFL draft now behind us, Alex and I discuss the loud consensus draft board discussions going on right now. Is the consensus board a real thing? Who says so and what evidence is there that most NFL teams use it? We attempt to address those questions. Alex and I also discuss the Steelers and their need to start drafting and developing better, as evidenced by the team's top 10 cash earners for 2026 as of May 1. Steelers HC Mike McCarthy has had a few radio interviews since the draft has ended so we highlight a few of the notable things that he said during a few of them. Is new Steelers RB/WR Eli Heidenreich indeed the team's best seventh-round draft pick of all-time? Steelers team president Art Rooney II sure seemed to indicate that during a recent television interview, so we discuss what he had to say about the Navy product much later in this show. This 87-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap above and we end this show by answering a few emails we have received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. On the Friday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel & Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Christopher Carter and Brian Batko ponder comments made by owner Art Rooney II, GM Omar Khan and new coach Mike McCarthy this week at the NFL owners meetings. Is the team putting up smokescreens about its remaining personnel decisions in free agency and the NFL draft? Particularly at the QB position as Aaron Rodgers remains unsigned? Should we take comments about Will Howard and Alabama prospect Ty Simpson at face value? Then later, the guys ponder trade options that could have implications for the draft both this year and next year. Could veterans including T.J. Watt and Pat Freiermuth be moved in some type of blockbuster with an eye toward grabbing a QB like Arch Manning, Dante Moore or Jayden Maiava in 2027? Or could Khan even be looking to move up in this year's draft? Our duo tackles those questions and more. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. April 1, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 114 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the several things that Pittsburgh Steelers HC Mike McCarthy and team president Art Rooney II both said in recent interviews while the two were in Arizona for the NFL's annual league meetings. We first discuss whether Rooney II indeed now has a firm deadline for a decision by QB Aaron Rodgers. We also discuss what McCarthy has said recently about his conversations with Rodgers. McCarthy talked more about Steelers QB Will Howard the last few days, so we go over those quates. We also discuss McCarthy talking more about the kind of wide receiver he might be looking for in this year's draft. As part of that wide receiver discussion, Alex and I look back at some measurables from that position group that McCarthy has previously drafted while he was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys. We compare those measurable averages to several top wide receivers in this year's draft class. Will McCarthy, Khan, or both show up at the Indiana pro day on Wednesday? We discuss that question in addition to what McCarthy said recently about only attending one pro day so far even though he had planned to make six of them this offseason. After wrapping up all the things that McCarthy and Rooney have recently said, Alex and I discuss the probability of the Steelers selecting a quarterback in this year's draft. We look at what McCarthy seems to be looking for as far as quarterback measurables and how former Arkansas QB Taylen Green fits those. Green, by the way, is reportedly scheduled to come to Pittsburgh for a pre-drafty visit. The Steelers are also reportedly bringing in former Memphis OT Travis Burke for a pre-draft visit, so Alex and I discuss what we know about him and how he might be a day-three selection candidate for the team later this month. Alex recently spotted several key members from the Steelers at the Tennessee pro day so on the heels of those sightings, we discuss the two top cornerbacks from that school and the possibility of the Steelers selecting one of them in the first round later this month. Would the Steelers really consider selecting former Oregon TE Kenyon Sadiq in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft? We address that question thanks to recent comments made in an online chat by Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. March 30, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 113 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the start of the NFL league meetings in Arizona this week and how we're expected to hear from Pittsburgh Steelers HC Mike McCarthy a few times during the next two days. Alex and I come up with a few questions that we think McCarthy should be asked while he's in Arizona with most of those being focused on his pro day process these last several weeks. Steelers president Art Rooney II recently made some comments about a potential decision timeline for QB Aaron Rodgers, so we make sure to recap that topic. We also discuss what Steelers former QB Charlie Batch had to say about the contract value for Rodgers. Alex and I discuss where Rodgers should be slotted with his 2026 contract value should he ultimately re-sign with the Steelers. ESPN has a new mock draft out on Monday morning and it includes 12 selections for the Steelers. We discuss all of those picks and especially the first five and whether we like them. Former Indiana WR Omar Cooper Jr. seemingly remains a first-round draft prospect for the Steelers and because of that, Alex and I discuss some potential stats for him through his first four NFL seasons. We once again address whether Cooper is indeed worthy of a first-round selection, or if he might be in play for the Steelers in the second-round after trading up. Later in this show, Alex recaps his post on yards per route run when it comes to several wide receivers in the 2026 draft class. We also discuss how wide receivers should be graded and if weaknesses of each player should be highlighted. Much later in this show, Alex and I quickly recap what Minnesota Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell had to say about new Steelers OC Brian Angelichio on Monday morning as part of him being interviewed during the annual NFC coaches' breakfast in Arizona. On the Tuesday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel, host Noah Hiles welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo to analyze the impact Mike McCarthy's hiring to replace Mike Tomlin as coach could have on the offense. Could he get more from players including DK Metcalf, Pat Freiermuth, Roman Wilson, Darnell Washington, Jaylen Warren and others under contract for 2026? Was that a point of emphasis for owner Art Rooney II and GM Omar Khan in making this move? And what will that mean for the QB situation with Aaron Rodgers' future uncertain ahead of names like Mason Rudolph and Will Howard? Our duo tackles those questions, then ponder what McCarthy could be looking for in an offensive coordinator. Will it be another established name like Arthur Smith, who's now off to Ohio State? Or could he lean on a younger name from his own coaching tree? With Scott Tolzien being one notable option from that list? Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. On the Monday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Christopher Carter and Ray Fittipaldo discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the team's decision to hire Mike McCarthy as its replacement at head coach for Mike Tomlin. Does this move finally give the franchise a fighting chance to develop a young quarterback and functional offense? With pieces in place that include names like Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, Jaylen Warren, Pat Freiermuth, Zach Frazier, Troy Fautanu and Mason McCormick? Can McCarthy win without a franchise QB type like Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers or Dak Prescott at the helm? Could he develop Will Howard or an NFL draft rookie like Ty Simpson, Drew Allar, Cade Klubnik or Garrett Nussmeier? Or could he foster a career renaissance like we've seen Sam Darnold enjoy for another veteran QB like Malik Willis? Our duo tackles those questions and more now that owner Art Rooney II and GM Omar Khan have chosen McCarthy over names like Chris Shula, Nate Scheelhaase, Anthony Weaver and Brian Flores. Jason highlights the notable differences between the departures of Mike Tomlin and John Harbaugh. Jason notes that Tomlin hasn't addressed the media expounding on his decision. He failed to lean into faith, which is a hallmark of his personality. Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II speculated that Tomlin's decision was probably more family-related than football-related, without explanation. The Athletic published an article highlighting the players' emotional response to Tomlin's announcement, with Aaron Rodgers and T.J. Watt in tears. Why were the players so taken aback? Did he feel disrespected by the Steelers hierarchy? Just as importantly, could it be because of persistent rumors of issues with his personal life that Tomlin has avoided media interaction? Two years ago, Caitlin Clark was making her WNBA debut. The league was garnering unprecedented media coverage, and TV ratings were soaring, with venues packed to watch Clark. Today, Clark has been minimized, the league is in a labor deadlock, Unrivaled first-week ratings tanked, and Jason claims this is just another matriarchal implosion. Coach J.B. joins Jason to talk about Tomlin's strange departure, the NFL playoffs, head coaching openings, and Lamar Jackson. Today's Sponsors: Relief Factor If you're living with daily aches and pain, Relief Factor might be the real deal for you too. In this Wednesday afternoon episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing everything that Pittsburgh Steelers team president Art Rooney II had to say during his afternoon press conference. We discuss what Rooney said about former HC Mike Tomlin deciding to step down on Tuesday and what the immediate future seems to hold for him. We also discuss the possibility of the Steelers trading Tomlin at some point. We also go over what Rooney said about the search for a new Steelers head coach, and everything related to what he might be looking for as part of said search. Alex and I go over some things related to head coach candidates and the side of the football they specialize in as it relates to the Steelers head coach search. During this show, Oregon QB Dante Moore officially announced that he is returning to college for another year, so Alex and I discuss that news. We also discuss what that means to the 2026 draft class right now. Throughout this show we receive the news that the Steelers have already requested five interviews with head coach candidates. We go over each of them, Nate Scheelhaase, Chris Shula, Anthony Weaver, Brian Flores, and Jesse Minter. Alex and I also go over several other head coach candidates for Steelers that are quite easy to link the team to. We talk about young and old candidates, retreads, and even a few current college head coaches throughout this show. The Steelers are starting to sign a few players to Reserve/Future contracts, so Alex and I update that current list as well. December 8, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 60 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into our overarching thoughts on the Pittsburgh Steelers' Week 14 Sunday road game against the Baltimore Ravens. We also discuss the Steelers now leading the AFC North and having their playoff chances rise significantly after beating the Ravens. In our weekly housekeeping portion of this Monday show, which is sponsored by the fine folks at TouringPlans.com, Alex and I talk about the Sunday afternoon inactive list and how it surprisingly included WR Roman Wilson. We talk about WR Adam Thielen and WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling both being active on Sunday along with WR Scotty Miller and why HC Mike Tomlin seemingly decided to go in that direction. The Steelers sustained several injuries Sunday, so we discuss what happened to TE Darnell Washington, ILB Malik Harrison, and T Andrus Peat. We also discuss the Monday morning report of WR DK Metcalf needing to stay behind in Baltimore Sunday evening because of stomach pains and how he needed to go to a hospital to get checked out. After going through the newsy items related to injuries and the Sunday inactive list, Alex and I look at what all transpired at M&T Bank Stadium against the Ravens. We first talk about the play of the Steelers' offense and how we saw the deep passing game come alive. We also discuss what a great game that QB Aaron Rodgers played against the Ravens. We make sure to highlight the great play and extra effort of Metcalf on Sunday. We also make sure to hit on the Steelers running game being poor against the Ravens and how the offense failed to move the ball any in their final three possessions, all of which came in the fourth quarter. We then discuss the Steelers' defense doing just enough to win on Sunday and how several individual efforts on that side of the football played a big part in the victory. We also discuss the Ravens offense was unable to make key plays late in the game that could have won the game for them. We go over how the Steelers run defense still has room for quite a bit of improvement after Sunday's win in Baltimore. Obviously, there were several controversial plays that happened during Sunday's game, so Alex and I go over the three huge ones, all of which went in the Steelers' favor. We go over those plays by including what was said in the media pool report interview that took place with the game's referee Alex Moore and NFL Vice President of Instant Replay Mark Butterworth. After completely breaking down the Sunday game against the Ravens, Alex and I then address the Saturday report concerning Tomlin and his current contract and how it includes an option decision in March of 2026 for his 2027 year. We also discuss the NFL calendar in relation to March 1 and how Tomlin reportedly has a no-trade clause in his contract. Alex and I discuss how it's almost guarantees that Tomlin will be the head coach of the Steelers through at least the 2026 season and how team president Art Rooney II will more than likely exercise the 2027 year by this coming March 1. After discussing the Tomlin contract situation, Alex and I look at the AFC North division and the current playoff seeding. We also discuss how the Steelers' final regular season game against the Ravens may or may not have meaning by the time we get to Week 18.
