The NCAA transfer portal window closed late last week, and while there are still hundreds of college basketball players available it is a good time to look at four teams that have "won" the offseason so far. We start with a pair of Big 12 teams, Kansas and West Virginia. Kansas lost eight players but also made the biggest addition in Michigan's Hunter Dickinson, while also adding Arterio Morris from Texas and sharpshooter Nick Timberlake from Towson.Meanwhile, West Virginia added Syracuse big man Jesse Edwards, point guard Kerr Kriisa from Arizona, and Montana State wing Raequan Battle while also getting their first look at Jose Perez.Gonzaga and Arkansas round out the portal windows, with Mark Few's team adding a trio of potential starters in Steele Venters, Graham Ike and Creighton superstar Ryan Nembhard, while Arkansas added five potential starting caliber cards, headlined by Tramon Mark from Houston and El Ellis from Louisville. Finally, we close out the show discussing Mackenezie Mgbako's decision to commit to Indiana over Kansas and what that means for Mike Woodson's team in the Big Ten.Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

One of the top players in women's college basketball in Louisville's Hailey Van Lith entered the transfer portal over the weekend and the Indiana Hoosiers could be a landing spot for the guard. Dalton discusses Louisville guard El Ellis being named the ACC Co-Player of the Week after averaging 27.5 PPG over the past three contests; he explains that the lack of team success shouldn't take away from what Ellis is doing individually. Next, Dalton explains why he believes JJ Traynor has been the second-best player on Louisville over the past couple weeks (scoring consistency, rebounding, etc.). Finally, he discusses that while improvements have been made over the past couple of games, that lack of consistent effort and defense still prevent the Cardinals from taking the next step. On this episode of DBR Bites, we dive into Duke's upcoming home game against the Louisville Cardinals, who have mostly been a disaster this year under first-year head coach Kenny Baker and first-year assistant coach, Duke alum and Louisville legacy Nolan Smith. Sam and Donald break down Louisville's rocky season, but we have to highlight some good developments lately for Louisville, most notably a win Saturday against competitive Clemson, whom Louisville held to an abysmal night from three. Durham native El Ellis has also been a revelation for the Cardinals this year, averaging over 18 points a game, and he is sure to be fired up to be playing back home. We'll be back again, hopefully with the full podcast crew, to recap this one and look ahead at another long layoff before a Saturday matchup. Keep emailing us at dbrpodcast at gmail.com - we haven't decided a new name for the show, so keep those ideas coming! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
