Ferry Corsten on the On Location Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions at ADE 10/21/22   About Ferry Corsten -   Hailing from Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Ferry Corsten's illustrious career is exemplified by a passion for music that began as a hobby and spiraled into a full-blown profession, as he continues to push the boundaries of electronic music.   This is exemplified by Ferry Corsten' recently released ambient album, ‘As Above So Below' under his FERR By Ferry Corsten alias, a personal project which allowed him to further explore his love for orchestral music that evolved from his long-running Stillpoint playlist. Ferry's love for cinematic sounds has long been present in his music, as the iconic Rotterdam native signed off on his 5th artist album as Ferry Corsten – Blueprint. In 2017 This interstellar storyline-driven epic is something unlike any Ferry Corsten record before and preceded the release of Ferry's first soundtrack early last year, composing the score for David Gleeson's late-2018 thriller ‘Don't Go'.   2019 also saw Ferry continue with his UNITY project, a concept launched in 2018 that has seen Ferry collaborate with iconic trance acts throughout the year with the vision of uniting the Trance community for a bigger cause. Ferry has partnered with VH1's Save The Music Foundation, an organization formed to reinstate music programs for children, which has helped 2,100 schools to date. These high-profile UNITY collaborations include works with Paul Oakenfold, Ilan Bluestone, Gabriel & Dresden, Sander van Doorn under his Purple Haze alias, and most recently with Ciaran McAuley on ‘Mo Chara'. 2019 also saw Ferry place in DJ Mag's Top100DJs poll for the 8th consecutive year, rising 15 places to #59 and extending his position as the longest serving Dutch DJ in the poll; capping what was an impressive year.    Ferry has been consistently at the top of his game since his sophomoric album under the System F alias ‘Out of The Blue' in 1999, with the title track charting in the UK Top 20 singles chart. He's continued this success with numerous remix requests, including remixes for U2, Moby, Faithless, Duran Duran and Public Enemy. Ferry also partnered with Tiësto around this time for the now legendary Gouryella handle, a project Ferry relaunched in 2016 with the hugely popular ‘Anahera' single, and later a Gouryella 2.0 Live show gracing the stages of EDC, Ultra, Tomorrowland and more. Ferry himself graced the stage with standout shows at the likes of Parookaville, EDC Las Vegas and Tomorrowland last year. Ferry also debuted his System F live show in November 2018 at Dreamstate SoCal to mark 20 years of ‘Out of The Blue' and has since taken it worldwide to the likes of Electronic Family and Transmission. Ferry also recently announced his WHAT THE F concept, unifying his System F, Gouryella and Ferry Corsten aliases for a series of intimate open-to-close exclusive sets, comprised of solely his own material, across the world in the coming months.   Ferry continues to break new ground in the trance world and beyond, demonstrated by his nomination for ‘Best Trance DJ' at the 2018 DJ Awards and more recently winning the prestigious ‘Legacy Award' at the 2019 edition of the International Dance Music Awards (IDMA's) in Miami during Miami Music Week.   Alongside hit global exploits as a DJ, chart scaling achievements in the studio, Ferry continues to have a day-to-day involvement in his Flashover Recordings imprint, recently partnering with Armada Music for future releases. Launched back in 2005, Ferry's label enables him to scour the world for fresh talent and release music by cutting-edge producers, giving them a voice on the world stage, alongside hosting his own label parties everywhere from Amsterdam Dance Event to Miami Music Week.   About The DJ Sessions - “The DJ Sessions” is a Twitch/Mixcloud "Featured Partner” live streaming/podcast series featuring electronic music DJ's/Producers via live mixes/interviews and streamed/distributed to a global audience. Protoculture on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 4/20/22   About Protoculture -    'Everything he touches turns to musical gold' - Armin van Buuren, A State of Trance Only a few South African producers enjoy the success that DJ and Producer Nate Raubenheimer, better known to most as Protoculture, has had over the last 12 years of his career. Hailed by many of his piers as South Africa's biggest dance music export, he has also left his mark on the international dance scene with his trademark blend of melodic and emotionally charged compositions and DJ sets. Sucked into the art of music production at a young age, Nate made the leap to pursue a music career professionally after completing his studies in Audio Engineering at age 20, immediately taking the international psy-trance scene by storm. His international debut came at the United Kingdom's famed Glastonbury Festival. With the release of his first artist album, “Refractions”, and the follow up “Circadians”, a slew of international performances ensued worldwide, seeing Nate travel to all four corners of the globe. From London to Tokyo, Sao Paulo to Moscow, Protoculture was a staple at psy-trance festivals around the globe, most notably at Glade in the UK, Universo Parallello in Bahia, Brazil, Earthcore Global Carnival in Melbourne, Australia and Ozora Festival near Budapest. Protoculture's 2010 album, “Love Technology” ushered in a great deal of changes for the South African producer, bridging the gap between his previous exclusively underground sound with influences from other genres. The album garnered attention from industry heavyweights Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz, Max Graham and Paul Oakenfold with the single, ‘Naked' receiving support on all the aforementioned artists radio shows as well as being named ‘Track of the week' on Global DJ Broadcast. This heralded the beginning of a new era for Nate, quickly being snapped by Max Graham's Rebrand Records and Dutch powerhouse label, Armada Music which became the home for hit singles such as “Sun Gone Down”, “Cobalt”, “Topaz”, “Laguna” and many others, all smashing the Beatport Top 10 Trance charts. Nate has also built impressive remix credentials over the years at Armada, being credited with remixes for Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz, Paul Oakenfold, Bryan Adams, Dash Berlin, Robert Miles, Jeanne Michelle Jarre and Nadia Ali. The Protoculture and Max Graham remix of Paul Oakenfold's ‘Grace – Not Over Yet' landed a number one on the Beatport Trance charts and the held the position for over a month, as well as scoring a number one position on the UK Buzz Charts and DMC UK Club Charts. He also received a SAMA nomination (South African Music Award) for his remix work on Goldfish's smash hit, ‘Cruising through' on Pacha Recordings. Protoculture, as a DJ and live performer, ranked South Africa's number one DJ according to the DJ Mag Top 100 polls from 2011 to present, has also played alongside a diverse range of international heavyweights such as Paul van Dyk, Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, Armin van Buuren, Orbital, Future Sound of London, Gareth Emery, Sander van Doorn to name but a few. A staple at Armin van Buuren's legendary A State of Trance World Tours, Nate performed alongside the 5 times world number one DJ in Mexico, South Africa and The Netherlands to sell out crowds with live performances being broadcast around the world live to over 20 million people. He has also graced the DJ booths at legendary club venues such as Ministry of Sound, UK, Ushaia and Privelege, Ibiza, Ageha, Tokyo, Colosseum, Jakarta, as well as Foundation, Seattle, Exchange, Los Angeles and more in the United States. No stranger to the festival circuit either he has performed at Fuji Rock festival in Japan and the Zurich Street Parade as well as other festival brands such as Godskitchen, Creamfields, Urban Wave (Camel Experience), Amsterdam Dance Event, Electronic Family, H20 Events, the legendary Tomorrowland and most recently Ultra Music Festival.   About The DJ Sessions -     “The DJ Sessions” is a Twitch/Mixcloud "Featured Partner” live streaming/podcast series featuring electronic music DJ's/Producers via live mixes/interviews and streamed/distributed to a global audience. Forged in the fires of Arizona's seminal 90s rave scene, Markus Schulz first went state, then national and with equal pace, international. From the building blocks of progressive trance & house, he crafted early anthems like ‘The New World' and latter-day ones like ‘Destiny'. He's helmed the scene-essential Coldharbour Recordings label for 13 years, chaired the Global DJ Broadcast radio show for 17 and remixed everyone from Moroder to Madonna. His floor-bound adventures have met with equal acclaim. Through his native audience affinity, flawless mixing, instinctive tune selection, and stylistically vast open-till-close sets, he has wowed crowds in every major city on Earth. Markus has scaled the upper reaches of the world's DJ rankings — a three-time winner of DJ Times' America's Best DJ crown ('12, '14 & ‘18) — and has drawn acclaim from every electronic music portal & press outlet on the planet. A regular fixture at the world's most famous clubs, arenas and festival stages, weekly, he continues to share his inimitable musical vision. In Europe, he's floored audiences at events like Transmission, Electronic Family, Nature One and Dance Valley. He's creamed Creamfields; gridlocked Global Gatherings and hosted his own stage at Tomorrowland. Stateside, EDC, Ultra, Nocturnal and numerous others have all similarly felt Schulz's presence. His legendary sets at spots like Space (Miami), Avalon (Los Angeles), Stereo (Montreal), Amnesia (Ibiza), as well as his International Residency at Ministry Of Sound, have become rites of passage for music lovers around the world.
Most recently, Markus conceived and delivered the ‘Watch The World' album. Released in October 2018, the album ran in the same stylistic vein as forerunner ‘We Are The Light', with a heavy, all-but-exclusive emphasis on song-based tracks. Again the album afforded Markus the much-desired chance to resume his songwriting, which first came to the fore on ‘WTW'. The album's first numbers were introduced by way of Spring ‘18's ‘In Bloom' EP. ‘Calling For Love', which featured vocals from JES, and the Emma Hewitt-sung ‘Safe From Harm' both debuted as part of the EP. Following in summer was ‘Upon My Shoulders', which featured frontman Sebu of indietronica outfit Capital Cities. The album also included a first-time collaboration with Christina Novelli, as well as co-productions with Romanian stars Smiley and Alina Eremia. ------------------ Tracklist: 1.
