I’ve really fallen behind in getting Succotash episodes out the door so apologies to those of you who have been trained by decades of televison and radio with their regular release of content. I’d love to be more on top of the release schedule but I have a regular fulltime gig which, if I were just sitting here with an open mic and spitballing witty bon mots off of today’s headlines, I could probably pull it off. But on this show I try to bring you snippets and bits from comedy podcasts around the interwebs and around the world and that just plain takes time. So Epi38 is a clipless show BUT I do have a great interview with one of my favorite comedians. Andy Bumatai is from Hawaii and is IN Hawaii and made his name there as well. He gets to the mainland from time to time, which is how I first got to know him. We get into that story in the interview. I recorded my chat with Andy when I was in Honolulu back in September and I was hoping to have it up before now, because it’s got some plugs for a show Andy and some other bruddas from the islands did in the Bay Area and Southern California at the end of October. I was hoping to spread the word but it’s like my whole show is on island time of something. Anyway, you can see Andy regularly now on YouTube with his series In The Car with Andy Bumatai. (Note: Andy's show hit the web a good half year or so before Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee debuted online.) We talk about not just this current project of Andy’s but touch on many of the other shows he’s done over the years that helped to make him as much about Hawaii as pineapple, poi and pupu platters. Speaking of pupus, that’s one of the things mentioned on a t-shirt I’m giving away this episode! Seriously. It’s an artifact of Andy’s – a genuine black tee from a long-defunct live comedy show called Crack Up Thursdayz. The show was at Honolulu's East Side Bar & Grill. I even have a picture here of Andy wearing it. Bear in mind I have ONE, it’s a large and it’s well-worn. But it’s also been well-laundered – Andy left it in my rental car when I drove him to a show when I was in Hawaii in September. Wanna win this timeworn classic? Here's how. Send the number of miles (or kilometers for our metric friends) between San Francisco and Honolulu to me, marc@SuccotashShow.com. I'll draw one name from the correct guesses and mail the winner the Crack Up Thursdayz tee shirt. Be sure to include a mailing address with your emailed entry! I was going to do a show around the 8th Annual Podcast Awards, which the voting on closes November 15th. Perfect self-contained show idea, right? I thought I’d feature clips from the ten shows in the Comedy category but, again, no time. In lieu of playing those clips, here are the shows nominated: Beauty and Da Beast, Citizen Radio, Comedy Bang Bang, File Under Horrible, Metrobuzz, My Brother My Brother and Me, The Green Light Show, The Ramen Noodle, Walking The Room, and WTF with Marc Maron. So get up to http://podcastawards.com and vote before November 15th. (There are a bunch of other shows in other categories as well, but we really don’t care about them here on Succotash, the COMEDY Podcast Podcast.) With the elections upon us, don't forget that our inhouse political comedian and Ambassador to the Middle Will Durst has an ebook out! It’s called Elect to Laugh, a collection of his election year rants and observations, both from his act and from the syndicated column he does. You may even see a few familiar passages that you’d have heard right here on our Burst O’ Durst feature. Get over to Will’s site and grab it there.  Early Warning: I'll be a guest on the Functional Nerds podcast next Tuesday night, November 13th, hosted by friend-of-Succotash John Anealio and Patrick Hester. Catch it at 10 PM EST/7 PM PST at http://FunctionalNerds.com or download it later from iTunes! Next episode not only we'll we have a full rack of clips, but I should be joined by special guest co-host Jabs from The DHead Factor podcast, Skypecasting with me from Australia! That's it for now. Until next we meet, please be sure to pass the Succotash! — Marc Hershon

Round 3, FUHcast! Bill opens up the show with a vicious Rundown. The FUHcast office now has an air conditioner which means less soggy shows. Bill really wants to do the show from the inside of a meat cooler, but Jim doesn't want a watch (just listen). Jim is, however, excited for this summer's movie lineup. Movie Talk starts to happen, but runs off into a tangent on digital streaming/downloads vs physical media. Back to movie talk, Bill points out that Bruce Willis is a different, weird guy in indie flicks. The guys aren't too keen to see Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Enjoy a mini-discussion on sci-fi television, namely Falling Skies. The subject switches to video games with topics including, but not limited to: Jim's recent Minecraft addiction, how Jim got his groove back with Diablo 3 and Nintendo's 3DS double dip gamble. Mike Tyson is beating......sorry.....hitting Broadway with his one-man-show with the help of director Spike Lee. Mike stopped on the Today Show to talk about why he's now a vegan...........kinda. Thankfully, FUH has the audio and will attempt to explain what's happening. Next story on the menu is about a South Korean woman who got a little more than she bargained for from her squid dinner. What happens to our internet personalities when our physical bodies disconnect from the connection known as life? The Mortality Book is there to help guide you to the answer and Bill and Jim attempt to guide you through whatever the Hell The Mortality Book is (in fact, Bill kept calling it "The Morality Book"------but that's because he's a moron). A few of your Facebook questions get answered before the guys close the show out. Questions answered covers FUH's aversion to sports, reaction to the Sandusky verdict, and a lady leg showdown. FUHcast will be back again next week. Straight out of Bill's sinus cavity and into your ears, it's post-nasal FUHcast! Jim disrupts the beginning of the show with a Rundown. Tommy (AKA T3, AKA Eric St. Vaughan) calls into the FUHcast Hotline to thank Bill for coming out to see him perform at Resistance Pro wrestling's "Taken By Force" event in downtown Chicago. The extremely needy and annoying FUHcast studio cat makes a surprise appearance. FUH reviews a YouTube personality who just isn't quite up to snuff. Movie Talk kicks off with another one of Jim's SPOILER FREE review of Prometheus; but not before the guys take a moment to make fun of crappy domestic beer and scarf wearing hipsters. The appeal of movies like Rock of Ages and That's My Boy are discussed, along with my Adam Sandler needs to die a quick Hollywood death. Find out what it would sound like if Tim Allen had sex with John Travolta while Adam Sandler watched. Paramount Pictures' problems are discussed, covering the fate of G.I. Joe, TMNT, and the money sucking suck fest that is World War Z. Matthew Fox is summed up and thrown under the bus (where he'll punch the driver's vagina). Bill and Jim imagine how Hollywood would remake the beloved children's classic Marry Poppins. Learn how George W. Bush lost the game of thrones. Bill has fun with the digital sound dropper at Jim's expense, until the dropper decides to have fun with Bill. Ohio is not the place you want to be if you're a yiffer, as discovered by an Ohio resident who enjoys intercourse with teddy bears. The show closes with some geek speak: What FUH liked and didn't like about E3 2012 and Apple's possible dedicated podcast application..........and a quick gloss over on iPhone 5 and iOS 6. Jim dons his riot gear and pushes back the rundown. The guys get local and talk about Chicago's fast and furious heat wave and the not so fast and annoyingly furious protesters at the Chicago NATO Summit. Jim gives us another spoiler free review of the ever so creepy Jonny Depp in Dark Shadows. The topic switches over to girls who grow up on camera and the men who covet them just a little too early (like Creepy Uncle Jim). Will Smith was caught on tape bitch slapping a celebrity news reporter in Russia recently. Was it a love tap or a premeditated Fresh Prince of "Bitch, I'll Split Your Wig"? Details in the story lead to a short discussion on gay marriage and FUH's thoughts on President Obama's recent statement on the topic. The future of SNL is brought up quickly before Jim gets to talk about the recent backstage firing on his favorite television show, NBC's Community. Bill believes that the internet is the new bastion for television shows that are put out to pasture. Thirty minutes of (previously exclusive) audio from The Water Cooler podcast's 12 hour podcast marathon for St. Baldrick's charity is unearthed and shared with the File Under Horrible audience for the first time in it's entirety to close out the show! We're back. It seems I'm saying that every 'sode now for one reason or another. This time we got delayed and had some technical difficulties (which are addressed by producer/engineer Joe Paulino during the show.) Epi14 has finally dropped, as they say, and it's a doozy. So much show that we allowed it to run seven whole minutes over our usual one-hour running time! One of the main missions of Succotash is to expose you, our Gentle Listeners, to all manner of comedy podcastery, especially some of those shows you might not have even heard about, let along listened to yet. And I can proudly say that this epi does just that. There are a couple of clips from some previously visited shows but mostly you're going to hear some new stuff that hasn't popped up on everyone's radar yet. (And if it's a show you already now then congrats - you beat us to it!) We've got a couple of Studio P visits this show. One is with the owner of Studio P, the aforementioned Joe Paulino. He pops in so I can make him plug his new CD, a delightful relaxing musical blend entitled Inhale Slowly. If you like to take a break and ratchet the madness down a few notches once in a while, this collection of meditation-inspired tracks by Joe and collaborator Tim White will get you there. Click on the link to visit Inhale Slowly and pick up a copy. We also have another Boozin' With Bill segment. More intense than our previous encounters, Studio P has installed a functional wet bar and Bill forces your host to imbibe his latest concoction, the "Popper Stopper". (I've popped the formula down there toward the bottom of the blog.) Before I get to the lineup, let me remind you that you can catch my blatherings in a more focused form each week: as a contributing reviewer to This Week In Comedy Podcasts over on Splitsider.com. Jesse Fox and a handful of other opinionators each pick a comedy podcast that has caught our fancy that week and we write them up. Finally, Succotash has gone listener-supported! (Okay, so we haven't ever had a real sponsor yet...) Look over there in the right-hand column on the blog page and you'll see the shiny new Donate button. Just click away and through the miracles of PayPal, you'll be able to toss a few digital dollars into our virtual hat if you'd like to help us defay the costs of producing this fine program. We'd be much obliged and will mention your name in an upcoming show as one of our benefactors. Ok! Enough rambling. Here's who's up in Epi14 of Succotash, the Comedy Podcast Podcast. Just click on the show titles to visit their homesites... • Improv 4 Humans New in the land of podcasts, Matt Besser of the UCB Theater in Los Angeles hosts this foray into bringing some core elements of longform improv comedy to the audio arena. He's joined in this clip by Chad Carter and Sean Conroy. • Skeletor's Mouthpiece What a fun discovery! Two lads from Hertforshire, England — Scratcher and Roberts – sit 'round and snipe at issues of the day. Guest Luke McFayden in this clip, where a rebuttal letter is read in response to a notice of traffic violation received by one of the boys. • CB Radio This is our second time around with host Cameron Buchholtz, whose interviewing skills get better and better with each podcast. Here he's got pretty much a podcast exclusive with guest comedian Brody Stevens, who pulls back the curtain on his recent Twitter-perceived breakdown. • Ham Radio Also a second visit, this time from the Northwest's Brett Hamill in the form of a commercial for one of his show's mythological sponsors. (Hey! We have one of those, too!) • Plan X Network Here's a new-to-Succotash podcast. Not sure who these folks are or where they're from and I take 'em to task for it a little bit following their clip. I like to be able to give podcasters their due – most of us are slogging this out without a lot of recognition – but when your p'cast's homesite doesn't have much info on you (AND you sent us the clip yourself!), there's only so much we can say. • Pool Party Radio Hosted by Parker Arizona and Jason Frisbee (great names!), PPR is one of those free-wheeling discussion-style podcasts where folks generally shoot the shit about anything and everything. In this clip, they're talking movies and get into something I can appreciate - what I call the "pussification" of classic monsters in recent films. • FUHcast Their title stands for File Under Horrible and the hosts - Bill and Jim - toss around a number of topics that get their goats and their dander up. Even their goat's dander, occasionally. Out of Chicago, these guys channel their creativity in this clip into a sketch about Michael Jackson based recent news that surfaced regarding one of his brothers. (I don't mean to pick on these guys in particular but I hold the FUHcast up as an example of a show that could be made better simply by ramping up the audio quality - that goes for a lot of the programs out there. Nothing personal, guys - I appreciate what you're doing!) • We Hate Movies I pretty much completely mangle my mention of the four hosts' names - Andrew Jupin, Stephen Sajdak, Erik Szyszka and Chris Cabin (well, three out of four) - so apologies, gents. I love their take in this clip about the idea for a GOOD Star Wars-based TV series: The story of Lando Calrissian in a The Wire-style telling of the Cloud City story. (I'm not a squeamish guy, language-wise, and we do carry an Explicit warning on the podcast but I don't believe these fellows could cram more gratuitous uses of the word "fuck" into this clip...) As a kind of memorial to podcaster Adam Spiegelman's recently removed tonsils, we roll out three related offerings next... • Proudly Resents  Adam hosts his "Cult Movie Podcast" each episode and this clip is from a recent show featuring Crystal Angel, a rare creature, indeed - she's an avowed fan of Adam Sandler's Jack And Jill movie, which has not been kindly received. Guest Judith Benezra helps to gentle roast her. • Dream Tweet Spiegleman produces what's being billed as "The Game Show To Go", hosted by comedian Jonathan Corbett. I think this clip comes from a show that was produced in a Mini Cooper (slightly creepy) and features two contestants who are trying to guess which celebrity supplied one of a trio of tweets. The prize is five bucks. (I see a future on GSN...) • Luggage Tuesdays This is the first time Succotash features a possible podcast. Mike Spiegleman, Adam's brother and a San Francisco-based comic, has a blog entitled Luggage Tuesdays and his sibling is urging him to turn his writings into a podcast. Here's one of the test segments so we can all get a taste of what that might be like. • Burst O' Durst We round out Epi14 with a visit from our fave political wag Will Durst, who shines his wry light on the Herman Cain misfire. (If you're in the San Francisco Bay Area, don't miss Will's Big Fat Year End Kiss Off Comedy Show XVII -it's all over the place the last week of the year so Google it (click the title to link to the Yelp listing for the show on New Year's Eve in Alameda.) Okay, that's it! Go pass that Succotash! — Marc Hershon

Geeks ahoy! Jim opens up a can of auditory whoop ass with the rundown. Very special thanks are given to The Retroist (retroist.com) for their recent promotion of File Under Horrible and to all of those who helped nominate FUHcast for The People's Choice Podcast Award. The Michael Jackson death trial is underway and some disturbing Jacko audio is unearthed. Amazon unveils it's non-tablet tablet thingy, the Amazon Kindle Fire. Bill says it's a non-competitor in the category and Jim somehow finds a way to talk about his private parts, pushing Bill over the edge. Netflix splits in two; which way does FUH fall on the subject? Jim geeks out with some comic book movie talk while Bill would rather be fishing (or something). Jim heats things up with a little impromtu striptease; something that doesn't transfer well in an audio podcast. Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes are coming for Facebook. Bill tells you all about the new "timeline" and what he thinks of it.
