It is Friday and that of course means Jonah Booker on the Bucknuts Morning 5. JBook and Dave Biddle give predictions for tomorrow night's UCLA at Ohio State game and also provide one other "best bet" for the week in college football. Also, Ohio State and Michigan are reportedly at odds when it comes to the Big Ten's idea of getting an infusion of cash via private capital. The Wolverines are very much against the idea and we discuss why we actually agree with them. That and much more is coming your way on the Friday 5ish. In this episode, Zach Shaw and Alejandro Zuniga break down the Michigan football team's matchup at Northwestern, what the Wolverines need to show after a second bye week and how they expect the game to go. They begin with a look at the offense, which will be aiming to show a more efficient passing attack than in its previous two games. They discuss some specific facets in the passing game they will be looking to see improvement out of, and players they want to see step up. They also discuss the importance of Michigan testing out its running back depth, and predict how the offense will perform in several key statistics. In the second half of the episode, they look at keys for Michigan's defense coming out of the bye week — beyond returning players from injury. They look at the edge rotation, the defensive line's pass-rush and opportunities for the secondary to force turnovers. They close the episode with defensive predictions, as well as their final score predictions for the game. Hail Yes! A Detroit Free Press Podcast About University of Michigan Sports
The first order of business for Michigan football during its bye week was to get healthy, but not far behind that was to hit a hard reset for star freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood. The two games before the bye week against Michigan State and Purdue were not pretty for Michigan's passing attack and the week off presented an opportunity for a reboot. Will it be enough to carry the Wolverines to a victory over Northwestern? Tony and Andrew discuss what should be a fun game at Wrigley Field and make their predictions for the game and for the big games across the country. Read all about the Michigan Wolverines by heading to our website at freep.com/sports.
The Wolverines are back in action this weekend, so we began our weekly coverage with Monday night's radio show. Head Coach Sherrone Moore (2:00), Special Teams Coordinator J.B. Brown (29:00), and graduate student Joe Taylor (40:00) joined this week's program to reflect on the bye week, discuss the opportunity to play at Wrigley Field, and preview the matchup with Northwestern.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Northwestern has lost two in a row but they have not been pushed around by anyone in The Big 10 this year. This is a much better team than the one we blew out last year coming out of our bye. Getting us up to speed on this years Wildcat team is the radio play by play voice of Northwestern Football Dave Eanet.
In this week's episode, Sam Webb and former Wolverine Tim McCormick discuss Michigan basketball's strong start, spotlighting its 121-78 win over Oakland. Tim relays Greg Kampe's praise for Michigan's talent, size, and adaptability. They zero in on the team's passing skills, especially with point guard Elliot Cadeau and center Aday Mara, and mention Trey McKenney's positive minutes at backup point guard versus Oakland. The conversation moves to the team's expected improvements in physicality and rebounding, with Tim noting practice routines like weighted big man drills and no-foul scrimmages. They wrap with previews of games against Wake Forest and TCU and a plug for Tim's new podcast. Detroit Sports Podcast -- The Michigan Podcast This episode -- The panic button is ENGAGED after Michigan's ugly win over Purdue. What was supposed to be a laugher turned into a nail-biter, exposing cracks in the Wolverines' armor. Bryce Underwood is regressing, the passing game is nonexistent, and injuries have decimated the roster. Steve calls this a poor man's 2021 team, with elite run game, elite defense, but no stabilizing QB and no margin for error. With Ohio State looming, he warns: this just might not be Michigan's year. Joined by Mark Rogers of The Voice of College Football, they debate the passing scheme's complexity, the talent gap, and why the playoff might actually hurt more than help.

Total THB has always felt like a living piece of your imagination—something that evolved alongside you. Now that you're returning to it after thirty years, what does it mean to finally see it presented as the definitive version you always envisioned?7. In your introduction, you mention artists like Bruegel, Motherwell, and Rodin alongside Kirby, Moebius, and Miyazaki. That's a fascinating cross-section of influences—how do you see Total THB sitting at the intersection of those worlds now?2. In your introduction, you talk about the seed idea—“small things exploding into big things.” How has that core concept shaped your storytelling and visual philosophy across your entire career, and how does it feel to return to it now with decades of experience behind you?8. Total THB is set on a divided Mars, a world of art versus bureaucracy, chaos versus control. Given how global politics and culture have evolved since the '90s, do you see new relevance—or new warnings—in the story's setting and themes?5. The relationship between HR and THB—the sheltered daughter and her enigmatic bodyguard—feels both intimate and mythic. How do you see their dynamic now, and what new layers do you hope readers discover in this remastered edition?6. You've described superheroes before as modern myths — figures that blend pulp with poetry. Having moved between corporate superhero universes and your own creator-owned worlds, what do you think mainstream superhero comics could still learn from the spirit of self-publishing that birthed THB*?*

In this week's episode, Vance Bedford and Sam Webb discussed Michigan's defensive showing in its 21-16 win over Purdue. While they praised key defensive stands, they also noted repeated mistakes from earlier in the season. Bedford criticized the Wolverines for playing down to Purdue's level, especially calling out the defensive line for being out of position and causing poor run defense. However, he highlighted Wink Martindale's "sound" strategy to protect young, injury-replacement linebackers, and also praised captain Ernest Hausmann. Wrapping up the segment, Bedford concluded with a call for fundamental improvement, particularly in pass defense, during the bye week. The panic button is ENGAGED after Michigan's ugly win over Purdue.

Detroit Sports Podcast -- The Michigan Podcast This episode -- Steve Deace injects some (what he says is) MUCH-NEEDED optimism on this week's Michigan Podcast! After a gritty 31-20 win over Michigan State, Steve pushes back on the fanbase's meltdown. Context matters: Michigan is 6-2 with a true freshman QB, three redshirt freshmen on the O-line, and no playable tackles left. They just beat Sparty on the road with 80 points in two straight trips to East Lansing, the most since the early 80s. Joined by Mark Rogers of The Voice of College Football, they break down Bryce Underwood's growth, the flattened parity of CFB, and why this team is exactly where it should be!
