Another day, another DnD flavored commuter podcast. Except this time, it's 3en teaching you and Derek part 3 of the Maker Class. We rarely do fact checks here, but today we'll do one: despite what our literal jokes would suggest, 3en at least has in fact been meeting with a mental health professional and highly recommends that all with the means to do so, well, do so. And encourages those currently without the means to be on the look out for future opportunities. Finding a good therapist can be life changing. And as always, we run on social interactions and money, so if you like what you hear and want more and also better, hit us up on Twitter @ActuallyNoDice and subscribe to a tier at patreon.com/actuallynodice.com! In this episode of 8-bit Monsters' Monster Deconstruction for D&D 5e we look over the remorhaz, the terror of the frozen norths. This monster was more technical, this time, to pull together and used the mechanics found in the giant frog as well as a new feature we haven't looked at yet. So come join us on this quick journey to see how the CR of the remorhaz fairs and if it's a properly balanced monster or not! I hope you enjoy it, it's a fiery good time. New Episodes every 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd of the month! The idea of this podcast is to break monsters down into their bare components: DCR & OCR. These two values will allow us to see how strong they are and to see where D&D got the CR values from. I'm doing this because all too often, players skip right to level 3 to avoid the hell levels and possibly end up dead. Generally, each monster is a balancing act that isn't equal to the final value. If you like what you hear and want to see this process in a visual medium. Then come stop by my YouTube channel (Andrew Fillhart) and watch the magic in action. In this episode of 8-bit Monsters' Monster Deconstruction for D&D 5e we look over the anvilwrought raptor. A construct created for purposes of carrying messages to and from people that could afford these flying, mechanical raptors. As well as being used for spying and other nefarious deeds. The great thing is that this raptor could be used a familiar if the DM allows it as per the variant rules not covered in this episode. Just as usual though, the findings of this raptor's CR value should come at no surprise and taking a listen will provide valuable information for any DM or player if they're used in combat. If provoked, the orc claws aren't named so for their looks. The claws are lacquered to razor points and used for fighting. Listen in to see how this divine caster can also put up a good fight! In this episode of 8-bit Monsters' Monster Deconstruction for D&D 5e we look over the shape-changing Yuan-ti Mind Whisperer. This is a fun monster that not only combines the shapeshifting from last weeks Werewolf but also includes innate spellcasting and regular Warlock spellcasting. This gives the monster a very rounded approach to not only casting spells to subdue players but also strong melee attacks as well. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode because it leaves some unanswered questions and a first for the podcast. New Episodes every 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd of every month! In this episode of 8-bit Monsters' Monster Deconstruction for D&D 5e we look over the shape-changing werewolf and the dangers that the party can encounter when running into this beast of the night. This episode was a surprising one and a bit different than our usual fare. On top of that, I swapped my recording location and there is a small amount of an echo but shouldn't be too distracting. In this episode of 8-bit Monsters' Monster Deconstruction for D&D 5e we look over the enchanter. This CR 5 humanoid is a full fledged caster and all of it's offensive capabilities will come from any damaging spells they may have. In this episode of 8-bit Monsters' Monster Deconstruction for D&D 5e we look over the copper dragon wyrmling and what makes this chaotic good dragon a threat to your adventurers if they decide to fight it. On the other hand, this wyrmling could be the mind-controlled product of a dragon cult and forced to fight adventurers. So this'll be good knowledge for any player or DM and how the dragon's breath can really tear an adventuring group up. Also, it looks like the goblin from the last episode wasn't happy that their episode ended so early and messed with this episode. In this episode of 8-bit Monsters' Monster Deconstruction for D&D 5e we look over the goblin and all it's hijinks it can get into. The goblin has to be the monster that blew my mind when I deconstructed it so many years ago and saw how unproportionable it is vs it's actual CR. This goblin is what spurred the passion of deconstructing D&D monsters to see how they actually look bit by bit. In this episode of 8-bit Monsters' Monster Deconstruction for D&D 5e we look over the Gray Ooze and it's metal eating qualities. Although this ooze isn't much to look at in terms of DCR and OCR. The real fun is the metal eating traits it has, even though it doesn't effect the final CR for it. Damaging a players non-magical metal armor and weapons is pretty hilarious. Besides that, this ooze has the typical lower DCR and high OCR. Come take a listen and see how this ooze's traits affect the FCR! New Episodes every 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd of every month! In this episode of 8-bit Monsters' Monster Deconstruction for D&D 5e we look over the Giant Frog and how it's bite IS as bad as it's... hop? This beast was a fun one to break down as it introduces the concept of the grapple/restrict mechanic and how it factors into the final CR of the beast. In this episode of 8-bit Monsters' Monster Deconstruction for D&D 5e we look over the Feathergale knight from one of D&D's modules. This knight is part of an air elemental cult and maintains their base of operations up atop mountains where the winds run free. These knights also wear a special piece of armor, called wingwear, that allows them to glide down to lower surfaces safely. Back in the day Murder Shoes Max leads "Reviews by a 21-year-old" for our review for Brass Monkey. Per the Funky Boss, "This tastes like something Jonah Hill would give a girl in Superbad."
This is the first introductory episode of 8-bit Monsters Monster Deconstruction for D&D 5e. This was the first time I recorded an episode and did this right at my computer in a very non-sound proof room. There will be a lot of echo because of this as well as a bunch of nervous energy. You'll hear some word stumbling and somewhat robotic talk as I learn how to record an episode for podcasts and YouTube. Stick around because not only does the audio get better but my confidence in presenting this information gets even better in episode 2! If you like what you hear and want to see this process in a visual medium. Then come stop by my YouTube channel and watch the magic in action. There will be extras not present here in the audio only media. Tinypalooza is one of Georgia's most underrated beer fests The booming city of Snellville is just far enough from Atlanta that it's easy for metro residents to brush it off. If you're not from Georgia, you may have heard Snellville mentioned as the home of American Idol contestant Diana DeGarmo. It's also home to a great beer bar/bottle shop/cigar bar The Lincoln Fill Station. Tinypalooza 4.5 was part birthday celebration for co-owner Tiny McClannan and part anniversary party for "The Lincoln." Tiny and his business partner Brad Tomlinson scour the country to bring in amazing beers. There's plenty of great Georgia beer, and some bottle pours you won't find anywhere else close by. As we found out, they also have basketball-and-trashcan beer pong at the event, which was very popular with people of questionable skill. We've partied with The Lincoln crew since their first festival. As a matter of fact, their first event was our very first live remote, when Beer Guys Radio was just a few months old. Each year, we try to talk to a few of the breweries in attendance as well as other cool people who happen to be around. We also catch up with Tiny about the festival and what's new at the pub. Brian Roth of The Southern Brewing Co. always greets you with a smile and a hug. He's straight up one of the nicest people in the craft beer world, and there are a lot of great people in craft beer. Brian was kind enough to hang around as we struggled through some technical difficulties and chat with us about his brewery, his upcoming second location in Monroe, Ga; the recent collaboration brew they did with Beer Guys Radio and the crew from Reddit ATL Beer, and brewing in clay pots called amphoras. Caroline King (along with co-host Ashley Powers) is spreading the good word of craft beer from a women's perspective on the Bitch Beer Podcast. Caroline joins us to take about her recent anniversary, what the goal of her show is, and some of the challenges women still face in the craft beer community. We've seen some of these biases towards our own Becky Smalls, and although many may be unintentional, they still exist. Alcovy Brewing's Joe Paul and Cody Winters sit down with us to chat about their up-and-coming homebrewery. They've won several awards on the homebrew circuit and collaborated with some local breweries to get their beer on at festivals. What's in store for Alcovy? We're not really sure. Right now it sounds like they're just doing their thing and having fun. See you for 5.5, Lincoln!
