Welcome to Botched: A D&D Podcast! This is our 10th Season of Botched Podcast! As per usual, we are kicking things off live at Dragon Con, so you may notice the audio quality isn't quite up to our normal standards, and you may also notice a whole lot of people laughing, clapping, and getting pretty toasty in the background (partially because we gave them beer). We return to our fantasy roots this season, kicking off in a small town in a peaceful land. It is a dark and stormy night, and the townsfolk find themselves where they usually go each night…to the Gazur Bar.Run by a bunch of retired heroes, this place has everything you need. Food, drinks, entertainment, a giant monstrosity made of baby feet with teeth…wait what?Suddenly the town finds itself embroiled in the middle of a war between multiple gods and they have to fight just to survive.Who are these retired adventurers? What's the deal with this town? Who are all the gods fighting here? Who will make it out alive? Why does Dennis hate Phil's characters so much? Tune in and find out!We now have a PO Box! Welcome to Botched: A D&D Podcast! The time has come! It is our final episode of Season 9! We will be saying goodbye to SCP for now, but who knows, maybe it'll reappear in the future! In the meantime, we got a season finale to attend to! In this final episode there is no SCP to contain. Instead, it is time for the dreaded…employee evaluations! The 05 Council has sent a team of insightful and intelligent individuals to assess these 3 researchers based on their deeds throughout the year. They have been given information on each of the cases that the trio worked on, including all the people they hired, and the outcomes of every case. They will ask the researchers questions about these cases, then break to deliberate the fate of each researcher. The researchers will then have an opportunity for closing statements before their evaluation is delivered. It is possible for these individuals to be promoted, demoted, or kept in the same place. If their performance is deemed bad enough, they could even be terminated on the spot…permanently.Who are these mysterious reviewers? Where did they come from? What are their credentials? Which cases peaked their interest? What will their verdicts be? Would being sent to Site 69 to work for the monkes be a good or bad thing? In this special live episode recorded with a virtual audience, host David James is joined by an all-star panel of Learning & Development leaders - Laura Overton, Donald Clark, and Gemma Paterson - for a dynamic conversation on the future of workplace learning. Together, they explore: Whether "Learning & Development" is the wrong name for the profession. The growing shift from learning-centric to performance-focused strategies—and why this remains a point of contention. How AI is transforming productivity and reshaping L&D approaches. Real-life examples of how leading organizations are navigating this evolution. This episode pulls no punches as it challenges long-held assumptions in L&D and sparks essential questions about the direction of the profession. Tune in for sharp insights, bold ideas, and practical takeaways from some of the most influential voices in the field. KEY TAKEAWAYS Focus on intentional impact rather than just delivering courses Ask stakeholders “what are you trying to change?” Seek out the ultra-keen or those who are desperate for change. Stop worrying about the ethics of using AI, it´s an effective productivity tool, so use it. L&D needs to have the tough conversations. BEST MOMENTS “The word learning has turned into a noun rather than a process.” “Intentional impact is the thing that really drives me.” "That AI on the sly thing, it´s not enough.” "If you still call yourself L&D in 5 years ... you're defining yourself as sort of milky weak." GUESTS Laura Overton Laura is an award-winning L&D analyst and co-author of Evidence-Informed Learning Design. As the founder of Towards Maturity and a champion of research-led practice, Laura has spent her career helping organizations unlock the potential of workplace learning through data, insight, and innovation. Donald Clark Donald is a learning technology entrepreneur, author, and advocate for the use of AI in education. With decades of experience in digital learning, he is the CEO of Wildfire Learning and a former CEO and founder of Epic Group. He is known for his bold perspectives on the future of learning, captured in his books like Artificial Intelligence for Learning and his influential blog. Gemma Paterson Gemma is Head of Culture Innovation at Lloyds Banking Group, where she leads work that reimagines how culture, learning, and innovation intersect in large organizations. With a background in digital learning and organizational development, Gemma is passionate about creating environments that foster curiosity, collaboration, and meaningful change at scale. Take your L&D to the next level Take advantage of 1000s of hours of analysis. Hundreds of conversations with industry innovators and 25+ years of hands-on global L&D leadership. Welcome to Botched: A D&D Podcast! In the sleepy lands of the UK there exists an existential horror: elderly gardeners. In a small village, there exists a little plot of heaven, tended to by 3 elderly citizens. While they have very different goals, means, and garden designs, they are all united in making sure that their village is one of the greatest. Or at least, has the greatest garden.Sure, there are setbacks. Little kids claiming that one of them is their grandparent, too much drinking, geese, and of course a little bit of garden rot. Wait, there absolutely should not be any garden rot! They will not stand for it! However…something seems a little off about this rot.Who are these gardeners? What is the deal with this rot? What is behind it? Why does it seem to eat through just about anything? What is that slithering, slurping, laughing sound? Why does this kid suck at holding on to a goose so it can be used as a digging tool? Tune in and find out!We now have a PO Box! Wanna send us something? Welcome to Botched: A D&D Podcast! We begin our story, as we often do, in a small town. Turns out, small towns are the easiest place for odd stuff to happen without drawing too much attention. Well, in this case, it's not exactly a small town. It's a little mining community in the middle of snow stricken lands. As we all know, the children yearn for the mines. One of these miners is about 12, but fret not, he's been doing this job for about 6 or 7 years now, so he's very experienced. He's got the black lung of a much older man. However, the machinery malfunctions, causing a small explosion. While there are only minor injuries, it is quickly apparent that the miners have been stricken with some sort of illness. Seems like just a normal case of the flu…until all the bleeding, and pulsating pustules. Why is there a child in this mine? What is this mysterious illness? What does it do to the body? Is there any way to contain it? Why should you never mess with a man's copy of Goodnight Moon? Tune in and find out!We now have a PO Box! Wanna send us something? These letters are sweet at first, but over time they become more and more deranged. Assisted by her neighbors, they try to ascertain the source of these letters. But, something just doesn't seem to add up. And before too long, the situation turns deadly.Who is sending the romantic letters? Does the student feel similarly to the writer of the letters?
